Quote:This game is one of the easiest games to group in. Attitudes are what kills communities. Be pragmatic, a few wipes, in coh, are not a big deal."My way or the highway" is right. It doesn't matter how experienced they are or if they're a noob or not. They are the team leader, and if you do not listen to them they have the privilege to kick you from their team.
If the team leader has no problem with you going off and doing what you want, that's fine. But if he asks you to stay with the group - then you stay with the group. If you're some kind of a trendy, non-conformist rebel that doesn't like being bossed around by The Man and his evil totalitarian dictator ways? Go make your own team. -
Quote:Will any vendors buy those crafted IOs? Too many to sell on the black market.Yeah, I do it for the workbench and the extra salvage storage.
I did that this weekend for Sparks Fly, my current favorite scrapper. I had over 500 items crafted already, and the Inventor badge from University, but I had none of the memorization badges. I managed to get field Craftier by Sunday just after Noon. ^_^
I was planning to do it for more than one character, but eh, it's too much work. I typically work up the energy to earn field crafter on a toon only once every 4-6 months.
As for buying crafted IOs... on cheaper IOs I'll do that when I'm working on a build, because I can slot them immediately. But on more expensive stuff I'll take the time to buy the recipe at a low to mid level price. Except that a month or so ago I paid 1.7 billion for a Panacea proc recipe and crafted it, and did not even realize that the crafted version was selling for just about 1 billion. O_o -
Quote:Thank you.Honestly, the market is the best arbiter of whether or not a set is good. If you ask here you get the opinions of a few people. If you read the market you get the collected opinions of the entire player base.
If you see something with a bunch in stock and no one bidding and a last 5 at or near the vendor price, well chances are it's not regarded as a good IO. Something with a similar number of buy and sell orders is probably regarded as a good set. Something with a lot more buy orders than sell orders means the set is in high demand (often due to a low supply).
Now this isn't perfect, some sets are good but aren't in high demand since most characters can't slot them in significant quantities. The best option here is to compare sets to other sets of the same type. i.e. Lockdown is a decent set but is generally cheaper than Positron's Blast because people have less need for Hold sets than Damage sets. However, Lockdown is more expensive than Ghost Widow's Embrace because it has about the same supply but better set bonuses. -
Quote:I understand I can check the market but that doesn't give me what I am looking for. What I am looking for is people's opinions. If there is a way to get those from the market, I don't know how to do that.Well you can check the market but I doubt any of them are worth much. Most of the sets are debuff/mez sets which aren't popular enough to be valuable. Kismet is a Defense set which are generally more valuable but Kismet itself isn't that popular and the particular IO (End/Rech) isn't going to be to popular since most defense powers are toggles.
The Reactive Armor IO is a decent IO in a semi-popular set but level 19 is a bit low, most people opt to slot IOs either in the 30-33 range or at the max for the set. You could potentially slot it in Mind Over Body if you want. As a level 19 it's slightly less effective than an even level SO but unlike SOs it'll remain the same until 50 (it provides about 45.6% of the effectiveness of an SO to two different attributes so overall it's about 91% as effective as a single SO). However, if you were planning to take that route I'd read Fulmen's guide on Frankenslotting and do it properly. -
My level 22 Brute (DB/WP) has the following recipes:
Orange Recipes:
Cacophony: Confuse/Rech L19
Cloud Senses: To Hit Debuff/End/Rech L18
2X Kismet: End/Rech L21
Yellow Recipes:
Reactive Armor: End/Res L19
Serendipity: Def/End/Rech L16
Stagger: Acc/End L19
Any thoughts about if I should use them for my character, make the I/O to sell or vendor them?
Thanks -
Quote:Isn't the "Normal Price" what the market can bear not what an individual "thinks" the market should be in his opinion?I take it that you're speaking to me? You didn't need to create a new thread to address what you had to say.
As far as my influence flow, I can make a few hundred million easily and I do know how to play the market. The issue is that I don't have a farmer in the traditional sense and I refuse to make one (such as a fire/kin controller). So I use whatever level 50 I have at hand, which right now just so happens to be my tank. With that being said, AE farming is a very long and arduous process, boring too. However, I do farm tickets every now and then to keep my WW slots full.
As far as not wanting to wait or paying exorbitant prices? I don't think anyone wants to be paying 10 to 20 (or more) times the normal cost of anything. I don't have time to play every day so I don't want to be waiting to buy something. Selling is obviously a different matter. Before the incarnate trials, if I wanted a circuit board immediately, it normally had cost around 500 if I wanted to wait or that much or slightly higher if I wanted it immediately. It did not cost 200 times the amount.
It's all well and good that some of you in this forum have the time to be farming and logging in every single day, but for many of us out there we simply don't have the time to dedicate as we once had. The only positive this has brought is that sought after enhancements have come way down in price -
I love the rikti invasions! And judging by the number of players who travel to TI to take part in them, it seems that many other players love them to. But if I didn't love them, I still have the option to not join in on the fun. No harm done. Getting rid of them would be harm done.

While I am admittedly hesitant about the idea of a PS3 port of Co*... it may be a good idea to incorporate a stable platform for gaming and a mass of people that haven't played it yet, infusing the game with more people (and maybe new servers? One could hope) and more money to give everyone even more awesomeness... Like perhaps grappling/wire/web/etc-you-get-the-idea slinging power set...
please note the "may" portion of this post, of course.
[/ QUOTE ]I think this could be very sweet for Coh! Plus the old timers can talk about the good old days. Remember the days before they flattened the leveling curve? Leveling was tough! -

Here i was all ready to pitch an idea about banning trial accounts from sending emails and there lighthouse already put a response to the same thingGotta hand it to the devs, they really do care about the player base compared to certain other development teams... *cough*SOE*cough* oh 'scuse me
[/ QUOTE ]That's a bad cough. I was thinking it would be someone else *cough*Blizzard*cough*..... -
CoV does need some love. What is off for me with the game is the boxed in feeling I get with the general layout of zones and character advancement. Coh has a number of zones available for advancement at any give point, where CoV feels like one or two zones max at a given time.
I would rather see a third city added where both sides can go and play. -

actually, getting certain badges and bonuses are like alternate advancement in a way. you can get extra slots of salvage storage or a once every 30 minute power or something like that, which is the same kind of thing alternate advancements give.
[/ QUOTE ]That still isn't advancing the character to me, that is more like new gear.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the thing you're not understanding. In most MMOs, Gear is Character Advancement.
This is true for any MMO that has gear-granted stat boosts, and becomes even more true when that gear is level-gated and/or bind-on equip. Just because you personally don't find this method of character advancement compelling doesn't mean it isn't character advancement, and it certainly doesn't mean that it isn't compelling.
[/ QUOTE ]What you don't understand. Yes, in most mmorpgs gear is advancement. Now, from my 32 years of playing rpgs, to me character advancement means skills/abilities of the character not the gear. Be that as it may, I am just giving my point of view which I will say again. I would like to see character advancement either in levels great than level 50 or another AA scheme. To be more specific, advancement by what I mean is character skills. People are free to have a different opinion. -

The one thing I want to know, now that Statesman is gone, is are there any plans for character advancement (i.e. more levels or Alternate advancement) for level 50 characters?
[/ QUOTE ]
More levels = No.
Alternate advancement = IO sets.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't consider IO sets as AA. It isn't good enough for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
But its good enough for me.
[/ QUOTE ]Did you stop leveling at level 40? When COH first came out it was only up to level 40 then it was expanded to 50. Later we got COV. So it can be done.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah and if they did it we would be done with it in less then a week. Do not kid yourself about it. More levels does not mean more fun.
[/ QUOTE ]Speak only for yourself. I don't power level and won't be there at the end of the week. Also, if you take the time to read what I said, it was levels or Alternative Advancement. IOs are not AA to me, but other games have had AA mechanisms.
This is my opinion so people don't take it as some kind of personal lifestyle attack. I want to see options for character advancement beyond level 50 by some method but not the IOs as they stand today. -

Statements like "our plan is to release x new issues in '08".
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I had this question last night.
If any red names are still reading this, is the plan to still stick with three issues this year? Or will we see fewer formal "Issues" and more "in-betweeners"?
Things are looking good so far, but it would be nice to know the general release plan for 2008 for the Issue Roadmap.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's definitely more coming in 2008! But, as we started off saying, we're not quite ready to reveal those larger initiatives. So, for now, we stuck with highlighting what is coming in the shorter term.

This is my first mmorpg. I am thinking of getting another game to try, this time along the "fantasy" variety. EQ doesn't sound like what I want. I heard that Final Fantasy XI is very good and has a ton of content, but I heard that the character has to get a job from time to time to make money. PvP is ok, but I am interested in doing quests, solving problems, exploring, delving, etc. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Wayne
