It's me, your old friend, Durakken here to tell red side players to rejoice, for now you will have access to many more items and your magic salvage will sell quickly for a reasonable profit.

And you blue side players -- don't be blue -- because you just got a few thousand more players to play with! Your salvage costs will go down and your profit per sale will go up.

You don't have to worry if you are red or blue because everyone can buy and sell from everyone else and travel freely from Paragon City to the Rogue Isles and back again. And even if you have no friends, you can just send yourself e-mails and pretend that you have a secret admirer!

    Life is great!
Awesome. Come lay eggs on my cat.
  7. Didn't Superman just turn 29 in a recent comic?

Edit: Just checked -- yes, Superman's official age is 29.

There are sculptors who've done this for players, but it's expensive one-off type of stuff.

In the future, say with CoH 2, it would be nice if the Devs included some sort of export code that allowed for rapid prototyping (aka 3D printing) of figurines. I don't know if there is a standardization of code in that technology at the moment (probably not), but the costs have been coming down quite a bit over the past few years. A few years ago someone even figured out a way to do it with clay, so you can actually get a kiln-fired ceramic object from the process. I'd personally want a plastic figurine, but the wide scale of innovation from numerous materials to size (Audi uses RP to make some of their show cars) has really opened up the field.

I think it's only a matter of time before such a thing is offered en masse to MMO players.

Yeah, 'cause it's always the testers' fault when bugs go live. /em rolleyes

The "instant gratification" attitude is extremely immature in my opinion. I think most people just want to see the new shiny things first rather than actually help out with the beta process. I've never desired to be with the in-crowd, so it's never bugged me when I don't get invited to something like this. Besides, it comes out in, what? Seven weeks or something. It's summer, go outside.

That was then, this is now.

I suspect the biggest motivator was the idea people would be gaming the system to profit.

Perfect 10s across the board! Wait... except for the Rogue Isles judge, who holds up a 1. Well, isn't that typical?

After a respec and rebuild to make the toon more PvP friendly and also more TF-exempted friendly, I began working on badges in earnest. At the moment I'm at 619, and working my way through the Ouro badges. After that I have a lot of PvP badges to work on, and random Gladiator badges and other stuff.

But I've hardly played any other character in the past 3 weeks. I have four defenders that I'd recently played up to the low 40's, and they haven't budged from there. Another defender is 47 and holding. I have big plans to purple out a war shade, but she's still level 33. And after listening to Steampunk-related music lately I came up with several Steampunk-related toons, but I haven't done a thing with them... every night when I log in, I just want to get more badges for Mouse.

What's a poor altaholic to do?
Which will win? Badging or alting? Stay tuned true believers, the answer may surprise you!
