Quote:No, you can't just lay this on the players. The players 'created' the problem using the system given to them by the devs. To the extent that a problem exists, it exists because the devs designed a flawed system. And you're essentially asking the devs to fix a player-created problem (that scads of people PL'ed to 50 (multiple times) and now want "bling").
And they are the *ONLY* ones who can change it. -
I think Ultra Mode adds several effects and they said ONE of them would not function in bases.
-
Okay, I just got one of these: [Soulbound Allegiance: Chance for Build Up.50]
Under what conditions does it activate? It states that the Build Up affect will be on the pets and that it has a 16.6% chance to fire. 16.6% how often? And will it hit all pets, or check separately for each? -
Quote:Well, let's see, which channels was I using for all those TF's you came along for?Heyo, I don't have any active vg/sg to offer, but I do know Infinity runs a lot off of global chat channels. It's late and I'm tired, so I don't remember the whole list off the top of my head, but there's a handful that you can chime in on for tfs/sfs and just general teaming.

Personally, I'm on:
Inf Badge Seeker
Infinity Hamidon
AE Anonymous
I've been running a lot of impromptu task forces lately and announce on those channels to find teammates. -
Quote:Another factor is that TFs/SFs are intended to give more 'merits per minute' than arcs. They use a different factor to calculate the merits based on the mean completion time.I'm just pointing out an instance where using completion time as the sole metric seems glaringly out of whack to me. I would guess that is mainly because TF/SF's are done in super-speed mode and arcs aren't - so the 24/hour and 8/hour rates do not necessarily mean merits come faster in one over the other. I find that interesting.
Some are certainly weird. Synapse mentioned the possibility of specific adjustments for some of them. -
Quote:Not really a good comparison.Yeah, having our characters being able to get where they're going twice as slow now is MUCH more convienant than being able to have our bases store more salvage than a lvl 50 toon. Furthermore, I'm wondering why it's taking so long for a red name to post, even to give us a "We're working on it." reply.
The walk power is for appearance only and does not affect gameplay.
As for storage, I don't expect a "We're working on it." post because I don't think they are working on it. They have made it clear, more than once, that they don't plan any major expansions of storage capability because they don't want people hoarding.
I'm not saying that is an accurate expectation or that I agree with it (I don't). But storage space is restricted INTENTIONALLY. -
Quote:It doesn't. It's a common misconception, but the devs don't object to it. They have stated very plainly that farming and PL'ing are not exploitative or prohibited behavior.I'm a fairly long-time MMO(RPG)er, and I have been wondering about this for some time. Why does it matter if people are farming or power leveling?
HOWEVER - farming in AE *IS* prohibited. AE is intended for telling stories and farming/PL'ing is not allowed. -
Then you weren't paying attention. It was discussed *A LOT* with a great deal of explanation why it was never going to happen.

Quote:And, annoyingly unlike light bulbs, LED's have to have the positive and negative sides hooked up correctly. Typically, the markings on the connectors are non-existent or deficient. If your power and HD indicators don't seem to work, you'll need to reverse the connectors.Next step is probably the most annoying, connecting up the case switches, each connector is marked and it's placement in the header block is found in the motherboard manual.
I read a forum post about a guy who handled his new video card very carefully, and took proper anti-static precautions. While he was concentrating, his girlfriend walked across the carpet, came up behind him and kissed him. Zap. One dead card. -
Quote:Sayin' what?Yeah yeah... 15 minute strike forces an' all that.
But 5 missions and 2 AV-class critters for 13 vs 3 missions with an EB for 14?
I'm just sayin'
The merit reward is based on mean completion time. Period.
There could be 10 AV's. If people can complete it in 10 minutes, it's worth 3 merits. -
Quote:Get over yourself.I find this laughable.
I've bought my share of overpriced salvage due to the "Marketeer's minigame" and people like you have never given me a cent.
I'm not here to say don't do it. But certainly don't pretend to be altruistic. It's hypocritical. Don't try and act like some kind of Robin Hood. You're a businessman exploiting people's desires plain and simple.
But the good guy you're not.
No one said that they did. And no one said that they respond helpfully to complainers. But anyone who posts questions showing a desire to learn will be told, by numerous people, how the market works.Quote:You're certainly entitled to your market game and I'm not here to say it's wrong. But don't expect the rest of us to support your self serving assertion that you put it back into other people's hands.
Learn or not - your choice.
Once you know how the market works, use the information or not - your choice.
Complaining is a choice too. Guess how much influence it will earn you.

Quote:Tinfoil hat time? Are you seriously suggesting that the devs are keeping an eye on people who the whiners claim are 'abusing' the market? And what? There will be a day of reckoning and they'll get what they deserve?but I highly doubt that the the number crunchers on the developers staff are not keeping track of the market, and those who deliberately abuse the market, and more importantly... those who admit to abusing the market in game, and on the forums.
-
Quote:Yeah, and it's the usual BS. Right off, the OP's main suggestion would pretty much drive all prices through the roof - "Eliminate the level 53 recipe listings and invalidate all bids on them."According to this thread, the people who play the market minigame "abuse it and drive prices out of control".
Let's see, if I can't store that money, what do I do? Obviously I buy stuff NOW and store the STUFF. So prices on everything skyrocket. Unless this was a stealth nerf and people actually lost all those billions - which would be absolutely outrageous and have a lot of people quit the game and badmouth it eternally.
And, of course, it would have ZERO effect on people who store their influence spread across characters.
After that I only read the first page of posts, but it seems that those posting in support were equally clueless.
(To be fair, though, the vast majority were shooting the idea down.) -
Although the Patron pools might never be customizable. The devs said that it wouldn't really make sense since you're effectively borrowing someone else's power.

Quote:To summarize: one person got drops in Warburg, one did not. Therefore, you can get drops in Warburg. The only drops I have ever received were in Warburg.
Of course, I never tried anywhere else. -
Quote:It's not 'my' truth. The rest of us are discussing REALITY. If you disagree with actual facts then, by definition, yes, you must be wrong.Lmao @ Ironblade. If i disagree with your truth, then i must be wrong too. It works both ways, bud.
It tickles us that you're still posting from fantasyland. We're trying to explain how the market works so new players can understand it better. If new players listen to you, and think that it's all manipulated and unfair, they will be disillusioned with the market (and the game). I would prefer that not to happen as a result of your delusional postings.Quote:You guys that get all up in arms because i said that some people can do it tickles me. I wonder why? Hmmmm....
Once again, your "guess" is wrong. We're 'up in arms', as you call it, because the vast majority of what you've posted is flat-out false.Quote:2nd) my guess is that the ones all up in arms are the one trying or doing it. it CAN be done with certain pieces and to say it can't is a flat out lie.
Yes, prices can be manipulated SHORT-TERM. As a reliable method of earning cash, however, it does not work.
Right, you never actually 'said' that you're better, but you take every possible opportunity to explain how you're sticking up for the little guy. Here's a clue: if you were really about altruism, you wouldn't be in here bragging about it. In your mind, it's all about YOU.Quote:4th) i never said i was better until i was refered to as a saint. but hey, some people can be called worse on here. but i feel like i do the players a justice to list all my drops at 222. at least the people that want it, may get it a tad cheaper. -

Quote:Eye of the Magus. We've all been there... The battle is going poorly. Perhaps you underestimated your opponents or had a run of bad luck. Either way, your health bar is leaking like a sieve and you'll probably be dead in 15 seconds. What do you do?
The beauty of this solution is that it's not limited to any AT or powerset. If I play a toon a lot and think it's worth the effort, I can get it. On most characters, getting killed isn't a big deal. However, my main (a scrapper) has it, plus all of my tanks, plus my first defender. -

Quote:You continue to demonstrate your ignorance. We all saw that post. We see posts like that all the time. And they always get the same response: "It won't work. You'll probably lose a lot of cash."Oh ok. lmao. I do understand that someone can come in here asking how to buy up all the stuff that is already limited and relist it to cause an increase and that's ok. You act like that wasn't even said and i'm ignorant.
If you've been playing even the SLIGHTEST attention to this forum section, you would know this to be true.
Yeah, give it a try, why don't you?Quote:LRN2REED. -

Quote:It *IS* your imagination.Imagine? Yea, that's what i do when people come in here trying to post a way to manipulate the market by buying everything to relist higher. But yea, it's my imagination. SO, think it isn't happening all you want and the next time i sell one purple for the new 300mil i'll keep in mind how you could've got it alot lower.
The prices are driven by supply and demand, not some sinister cabal or random packs of greedy pigs.
And, once again, you retreat to your standard fallback position: anyone who disagrees with you must be one of the greedy pigs who's messing up the market. How predictable.Quote:Lol. Ok. I haven't been here playing for 5 years. I also don't sell recipes everyday. I also haven't made billions by listing my recipes at 222 instead of trying to buy up all of the products to force players to pay more.
Wait, what's that? Anyone who disagrees with you must want a 'broken' market? Deja vu!Quote:To want better for the game or other people in this game to be able to enjoy IO'ing toons, getting sets, and what not doesn't make me the bad guy that you people want me to be. I know how the system works and to try to make me look bad just shows how scared the market people are of people wanting a better system for EVERYONE.
-
Quote:BS, chief, total BS. History has NOT shown us this. What history has shown us is that the prices tend to go up and up because there is a massive flow of influence into the game. But feel free to make up more fanciful explanations and claim that this is what 'history' has shown us.I think if the bids aren't shown, then the "value" of something is placed solely on the bidder. Not the seller. You place bids on what you think it's worth, they sell at what they think it's worth. Not, hm, that person paid that so i'll list mine at that, too. History has shown us that this happens, hence the increase in everything.

Quote:Short answer: Yes.Do I have enough prestiege to make a base now that could be maintained by one person?
Longer answer: Hell yes.
The base rent system was overhauled bigtime. You can build a massive base, on a 24x24 plot, with full power and control, and all teleporters and it can cost ZERO rent. None of those items cost rent.
Items that cost rent are:
- storage items
- empowerment stations
- workbenches
- medical aux items
- (and some oddball stuff, like the Flames of Hephaestus)
Even if you load your base up with storage and workbenches, you can *EASILY* manage the upkeep yourself. I run an SG with a honking big base. We have 18 storage items and various workbenches and empowerment stations and the rent is just 2900 per month. Even a low-damage character should be able to earn that much solo in less than an hour.
