Executive Decision: Tonight we will take a TF break and run Vigilante Tip Missions and any other general gun slinging fun we can get into. Meet up on the dirt hill in Talos Island at 7:00 PM central time.

Quote:This was the major glaring issue to me as well when this "horrible" idea occured to me. I just love the idea of time travel. One of my main toons is a time travelling cowboy, so Ouroboros is a staple for him. I just wish it wasn't limited to going back in time to do things I have already done. That is the spirit in which this idea was born. I was not proposing this as an "automatic 50 button", but re-reading my OP that sounds like exactly what I was proposing, so I apologize for framing my suggestion so poorly. I would be fine if it woked like the current SK system and did not give you any additional powers. Can someone explain to me a feasible way to 'allow higher level powers' on a lower level character? Who picks? The player? That seems unlikely. The computer? Thats bound to cause cries of "I didn't want those powers!" Why did it give me Handclap?!" Are they slotted? If so, how? If they aren't slotted, again people will complain that it's 'unfair'.
/Unsigned. I don't see this being actually feasible
As for the idea of people not playing content because there are no rewards, I say that is malarky. Yes, I know I am in a minority here, but I do not play for rewards. I play for the escapist experience of pretending to be a hero/villain, and I know I am not the only one.
Quote:Earn your own higher level yourself.
Edit: I don't really want to burn down AE. I do not condone arson, neither in the real world, nor in pixels. -
I would second this, but keep the window between spawns at no more than 15 seconds. 30 seconds is a long time when you are doing nothing. I would also like to see the last spawn include an AV to add to the difficulty a little bit.

Well, dual pistols night is upon us again, but I am having a hard time "pulling the trigger" on what we should do. Part of me says we should go for the WST Respec Trial for the bonus XP, but a larger part of me says that I don't want to sit in that damn reactor room for half an hour. Today marks the 7th anniversary of CoH, and there are some dev-spondered events happening at the same time we normally meet up for DP night. The idea of skipping this week so folks can enjoy the anniversary shenanigans seems like a good idea, but at the same time...I want to shoot at stuff. I need some help here folks.
The idea that seems most attractive to me is side switching and doing some redside stuff. This would require everyone to switch to at least Vigilante. Brave Starr and I have already made the switch, and if no one else objects to such a move, we can run some Vigilante tips tonight to get everyone else redside compatible. -

I know this idea presents A LOT of problems, but I think it would be cool to consider. As it stands Ouroboros allows us to take our character back in time to complete flash back arcs. While doing this, we are exemplared to the level of the arc and our higher level powers are unavailable. What if as a lower level character you could use Ouroboros to "Flash forward" and do higher level arcs. The incentive being, powers that come later in your powerset are now available for you to use. This would enable folks to see what their toon could become in the future. Obviously, this would present some issues such as power selections and slotting differing from toon to toon, and I could perceive some potential for exploitation. Any thoughts on this idea?

Quote:Fixed....The Grammar Nazi strikes again! We've identified some issues where the naming filter for MA is being a bit overzealous. Right now we're on compiling a working list of which filters are actually causing this and evaluating how best to proceed.
No ETA on a fix just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
Thanks for the reports all and apologies if your missions/your favorite missions are affected.

Another thing about Super Strength/Fire brutes, they have been known to accomplish amazing feats outside of farming. Somewhere on these forums there is a thread from a gentleman who soloed the Statesman Task Force with his. Pretty impressive stuff.
Elec/Shield is good, but it is a one trick pony. ST damage on elec/shield is pretty weak. SS gives a good balance of ST and aoe. After talking about it here, my altoholism is tingling. Must.....make.....SS/fire......brute........ -
SS/Fire brutes seem to be the king of farming these days and there is a good reason for that. I don't have one myself, but I've been told it is a capable farmer on SOs alone. Shield is also a good pick for farming because it gives you another large AOE attack (Shield Charge). I farm very little, but when I do I use my main who is an electric/shield brute and he is amazing.
As far as making influence goes, farming isn't the best way to get rich quick. I would suggest perusing the market forums and read some of the guides over there. The ones by Fulmens are the best IMO. It's very easy to get very rich just by playing the market a little every day.
Also, you have the option of earning alignment merits to cash in for valuable IO recipes. To earn these you need to run 10 tips (5 per day) and then you will get a morality mission. Completing the morality mission will award you 1 alignment merit. 2 A-merits can be cashed in for an LOTG global recharge which will fetch 200 million on a good day.
Welcome back to the game and good luck getting reaquainted. There is a lot to be excited about in CoX land these days.

Communication with the team is key. Make sure your melee folks feel free to speak up if your KB is causing issues so you can adjust your tactics. Usually when I join a PuG team on my NRG blaster I say something like "Please let me know if my knock back causes any issues for you melee folks so I can adjust accordingly."
-
Energy/Storm sounds like a lot of chaotic fun, but I do want to be able to find teams now and again. I've been wanting to make a traps corr for a while now, so I think I'll go that route to pair with Energy...but I might make an energy/storm as well just to spread some mayhem now and again. Thanks for the suggestions.
-
My first 50 and probably my favorite toon to play is an NRG/NRG blaster. I have found it preforms equally well solo, and on teams. The key to teaming with energy is realizing that you aren't a typical blaster. You don't just stand behind the tank and blast away. Use your KB to benefit the melee folks. See a stragler? Run behind him, aim at the tank/brute/meatshield and knock him back where he belongs. All the baddies in a nice little tight bunch? Hover directly overhead and knockback becomes knock down.
Energy is my favorite blast set because it requires sound mechanics to fuction well on a team. It takes a bit more planning and concentration than the other blast sets. Also, I find that melee types don't mind knock back if you follow two basic rules: 1. Don't knockback their target. 2. Make sure whatever you knockback dies fast so no one else has to chase after it.
Don't be afraid of energy, it is a lot of fun to play and can be a great addition to a team when played correctly.
Note: Make sure you carry a decent supply of blues, becasue Nova is easily the best nuke in the game and you should use it often, but you need to refill that blue bar ASAP after using it so you can get back to blasting. -

FF is boring and lame. Defenders smell funny. Traps is sexy and Corruptors smell of fresh baked cookies. The choice seems pretty clear.
If you are ever wondering, "Should I make a _______ or a Corruptor," the answer is always Corruptor. The following things will happen if you make a Corruptor:
1. You will get purple drops on every single kill starting at level 1.
2. Women will swoon at the thought of your sheer awesomeness.
3. Lord Recluse will have you over for tea.
4. Enemies will die for merely meeting your steely gaze.
5. You will win every costume contest ever held, even if you aren't there.
6. Anne Hathaway will be your girlfriend.
7. You know how when you go to work, and you go for that first cup of coffee and the pot is always empty except for the sludge that has built up on the bottom over years of no cleaning? Yeah, that won't happen anymore.
As you can see making a Corrupter holds many benefits for your life. -
Seriously, It is easily my favorite blast set. You think it's bad on teams, but you don't want to say that to my face because you think it will hurt my feelings. Go ahead, say it. It won't hurt my feelings, because you are WRONG!
Getting off track. My most blastiest toon is my NRG/NRG blaster, but I find the blaster secondaries extremely underwelming, so I want to try an NRG/? Corr, but am unsure of which secondary to go with for max synergy. Kinetics fits from a concept standpoint, but feels counterintuitive since a lot of the key kin powers could be at odds with the KB in NRG. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -
Anne Hathaway is my gurlfriend.

(Disclaimer: This second paragraph of this post contains thinly veiled sarcasm intended to insult the culture on a particular server. My apologies in advance to any that may be offended. Rest assured, this post does not apply to anyone reading it, as I am sure you exhibit all the finest qualities we have come to expect from a fellow CoHer.)
Wow, I'd just like to say thank you for all of the happy greetings and warm welcome. While I did find the usual hotspots to have less traffic than I'm used to, the global channels exhibited something I have never seen the likes of on Freedom. I could not help but feel this odd sensation that people actually wanted to run missions. When I was told by Cobalt Azurean that discussions about power leveling and farming were not allowed in the BMT of Champion channel, I thought to myself "How could this be?"
You see, over on Freedom, people go to these "AE" buildings. Within the safety of these walls there is no need to learn your powersets or understand team dynamics. There is a viscous rumor circulating that you can make actual quality story arcs in the AE, but we all know this to be an absolute fabrication. Freedom is a happy place where any non lvl 50 is a "n00b" and if you don't like to settle disagreements in the PvP arena, then you are "teh suck."
In all seriousness, I had a smashin' good time on Champion. Not long after my shiny new DP/Sonic corruptor, Crimson Cowboy (who regrettably looks like a Villiage People reject) was released on the streets of Praetoria, Amygdala put together a mission team and a good time was had by all.
@Silas, I am a corruptor junkie, and I will have many more coming up in Praetoria very soon. They are easily my favorite AT, and I look forward to getting to the point where I can join you guys on some of your all support TFs. On Freedom, I have a dark/storm, DP/Kin, and Rad/Therm. Traps looks tasty, and I can't help but be intrigued by trick arrow. -
Noted, my new DP/Sonic Corr Crimson Cowboy is cleaning up the streets of Praetoria right now
-
How active is Champion Praetoria? I want to make a corruptor for blue side, and was wondering if I would have better luck leveling up in Pratoria or the Isles.
-
I, too, am a Freedomite who is growing increasingly frustrated with Freedom. I've been lurking in the bushes of the Champion forum for quite a while and like the cut of your collective gib. Silas's Kin guide has become holy text for my DP/Kin corr and I may just re-roll him on Champion today.

I have been on Master of runs where folks get bent out of shape and start passing blame upon failure. Those are no fun. Provided this is a light hearted affair where we dont take ourselves too seriously, then I would love to join provided the wife hasn't already made plans for my Friday night. Put me down as a tentative attendee.

Quote:Was there anything in particular that you didn't like? I only ask because I have seen overwelming positive reviews on this, and your post may be the first out right "don't like it" post I've seen regsrding the new TF. Everyone has their opinion, I'm just curious as to what you found undesirable about this TF, because it felt like a homerun to me.I would disagree wholeheartedly on this. I did a Sutter TF last night and maybe it's cause I was tired or whatever but....I do not plan on running that TF ever again (on any character)...just wasn't fun at all for me; shame the artwork was nice
The new villy SF is better I think. -
After two consecutive weeks of tough challenges from the ITF and Sutter, the ease of last night's Numina was a welcome break. I'm pretty sure Jurrasik died in about the time it takes me to tie my shoe. If I recall correctly, three of us managed to finish our TF Commander accolade. Unfortunately, I didn't get much in the way of suggestions for our next challenge. Part of me wants to just tackle each Weekly Strike Target for the bonus merits and XP boost. Thoughts anyone?
