  1. Sorry about tonight, showed up an hour late.
  2. Hurrah for energy!!!! My main is an nrg/nrg blaster so you can count me in for this one. I have a friend in a kin/nrg defender that can most likely come as well. This sounds awesome! Add one for sure, and a tentative two. Toon names:

Aniketos Pium- lvl 50 nrg/nrg blaster
Atomic Truth- lvl 32ish kin/nrg def
  3. Last night saw the best dual pistols turnout to date with six dualies making up the team. We didn't bother fiiling the remaining spots with PuGs this week. We ran the Synapse TF with overwhelming success. We even had Babbage down to almost nothing before he punked out and commited suicide on the monorail drones. Those robots didn't stand a chance. Cobalt-Cowboy started the evening at level 30 and came just short of 32. Many other levels were dinged and a good time was had by all. So far we have completed both parts of Posi, Synapse, and Sister Psyche. Next week we continue our way through the Freedom Phalanx TFs as we take on the Citadel TF (lvl 25-30). Depending on the level range of the team at that point, we may have to side track and pick up Moonfire (23-28) before we continue on to Manticore (30-35). Manticore will be the WST for the week of March 29th-April 4th so the timing should be about right for that.

Also, Cobalt-Cowboy has quietly ammased 198 reward merits over the last three week's task forces. Im thinking by the time I hit 50, I'll have enough to finance a decent IO build. Nice little bonus!

I'm having a blast with this and hope everyone else is as well. See you all next week.
  4. The Dual Pistols Super Team will meet tonight, Thursday the 10th at 6:30 PM central time in Skyway City for The Synapse Task Force. Meet at the contact, and bring a friend
  5. My buddy had the exact same issue, and updating the driver for his graphics card was all it took to fix it. Here's hoping your issue is that simple!
  6. If anything the new emphasis seems to have balanced things out a bit. Pre i19, I rarely pulled out my 50s because most of the teams seemed to be lower level and I figured why not earn XP on a new toon rather than exemp down. Now, I have absolutely no trouble finding teams on my lowbies or my 50s.

    Fun with Apex

This week has resulted in a lot of folks who have never run the Apex TF giving it a shot and a particularly funny thing happened on one run I was on this week.

Going in to the last mission the team leader was going over the strategy since we hade a few who had never run it. Another member on the team popped up and said something to this effect:

"Durring the Battle Maiden fight you will see blue circles on the ground. Make sure you get inside those ASAP. They give you a huge recovery bonus and BM has mean end reduction in her attacks."

This was a good natured team, and many jokes had been made up to this point, so luckily the ones who knew better kept their mouth shut, including the team leader. Well, obviously many deaths followed and after a few minutes the newbies figured it out. No one was angry about it and we all had a good laugh.

Any other amusing WST stories out there?
  8. Another successful outing for the Dual Pistols Super Team. RL delays caused us to get a late start, but we still managed to complete both parts of the Positron Task Force. Cobalt-Cowboy started the night at level 27, and dinged 30 on the final mission. Since we've completed Sister Psyche and Positron, I figured why not continue our progress and go ahead and complete the six Freedom Phalanx TFs and get our TF Commander accolade. On the docket for next week, The Synapse Task Force. Meet up in Skyway City at 6:30 central time.

My offer to PL a new dual pistols toon for anyone interested in making one still stands. Feel free to send me a PM here or in game tell to @Guardian Irish-Fury so we can coordinate schedules.
  9. If you enjoy teaming, I would recommend an Ill/Rad controller. That isn't to say it's a bad solo combo, but it really shines on teams. Someone also mentioned Ill/storm which is also loads of fun. Basically any kind of illusion control would be my recommendation. It plays very differently from other controller sets.

I also have an archery/fire blaster that is just crazy ridiculous awesome, and once you get rain of arrows, it will be hard for any toon to match your mob killing speed. This combo really shines for me while soloing, but is always welcome on a team.

My first 50 was an energy/energy blaster. A lot of people will say avoid becasue the knock back isn't team friendly, but if played correctly this combo can carry a team.

Obviously I prefer ranged toons, but as far as melee goes, my elec/shield is loads of fun, but it is a late bloomer. Broadsword/shield is also a lot of fun, and the cotume options with two weapons to customize can make for a very epic looking character.
  10. Just want to let everyone know that there is a good chance Brave Starr will miss tonight's meeting. His grandfather passed away this week and he is out of town for the funeral. He said he might be coming back this afternoon, but most likely not. Hope to see everyone else out there tonight at 6:30 cst.
  11. Personally, I am very excited about the news on i20. While raid content doesn't excite me all that much, two brand new task forces do. In two issue releases, we've gotten four new TFs. To me, that's pretty darn cool. Not to mention, the quality of these new TFs is head and shoulders above some of the "older" TFs. If they have more in store for i20, then I'll be even more excited, but as it stands, I am pretty happy about what I'm seeing.
  12. The plan this week is to take on both parts of the Positron Task Force. Meet up at the contact in Steel Canyon at 6:30 PM Central time on Thursday March 3rd. We still have two spots not spoken for, so if anyone else would like to join, we have room for you.

Awesome! Thanks for the build. Unfortunately, I am at work and can not open Mids, but I will definitely take a look at it. Thanks!
  14. The team is growing! Our scrapper on last week's Sister Psyce TF rolled up a DP/Ice blaster and we farmed her up to lvl 23 so she can run with the rest of us. Our team as of right now:

    1. Cobalt-Cowboy
    2. BraveStarr
    3. Rotten Ronnie Raines
    4. Crow Seven
    5. Mary Snow White
    6. Vigil Ante Up

So going off your list here are a few suggestions you could consider making:

Son/Therm Corr - Has some good buffs and an ok team mate heal as well as an aoe self heal. It also has Heat Exhaust which is a great debuff as well as melt armor (-res debuff). Sonic is a great synergy with this since its 2 t1/2 attacks are some decent damage as well as added -res. Shout is a great heavy hitter finisher (very nice with scourge kicking in). Also has a nice little stun. Alternativly you could do a rad/ instead and it would play very similar, just -def instead.

Mind/Therm Troller - Same idea as above for therm stuff. Mind is a great troller primary. It has psi damage as well. Psi damage is still a very good choice of damage type to have. It also has a great hold and knockup power (slotted correctly can do a mag 41 knock before DR - ends up being able to knock ppl with less then 30ish KB protection if I remember right). This also has a non-repeling TK (telekinesis), unlike the defender version which repels.

Son/Cold Corr (Cold/Son Def) - There are some great -recharge powers in cold as well as -def/-dam and a monster debuff that does -regen/-end/-dam/-special. The special debuffs your status protection/resist by a lot. Also has a +recovery power which is always nice to have. There are some buffs as well, but sadly not many ppl spec it for team buffing (in all reality not many ppl plan for playing it with a team). Has 2 +def buffs (S/L/melee and range/aoe/NE/E) that also give a small res to c/f. There is also a +HP teammate buff (If i remember right the only one in the game) that can easily HP cap your teammates. Pair this with a son for the added -res and its a done deal. At this point I would say it would be better to do a corr rather then a def just because corrs get slightly better damage and scourge.

Psi/Em Blaster - Bread and butter damage here. This will be FoTM for a while until damage gets changed just for the simple fact that 1 psi blaster can setup a mini spike by themselves because of how the delayed damage shows up when you attack. As a blaster you can spend anywhere from 1 to prolly 20 bill. I think I have that cheap build (might have to dig to page 2 or 3) that rikti asked for that psyrene posted up. I think it only cost about 1.5 bill at the buyitnoa price even. Its a solid build for what you pay for and unless I start playing mine a lot more I highly doubt I will upgrade to more expensive one. Really the only thing you get is a little more damage cause of procs, better end recov, and recharge. Don't get me wrong, it does make a difference, but for your avg joe it won't matter to much. Played well on a team, 2 of these, or even 1 and some support/added damage, are pretty lethal

Mind,Earth,Grav/Fire Dom - Pick your primary. Whatever floats your boat. They all play slightly different but in the end is just how fast you can spam flares/blaze/flares/fire blast. Great damage output if left unchecked. This would by far be the most expensive toon to even play at a manageable level (for a build worth your time playing easily over 4 bill). A lot of what the blaster has going for it, so does this. Biggest difference is that a dom can somewhat disrupt and control the pace of a fight with its mez's. Refer to Mind/ portion of the Mind/Therm Troller.

SS/Invuln Brute - Classic taunt bot that can smack someone upside the head pretty nasty in pinch. Remember kids, Taunt is your friend. Overall its still kinda a 1 hit wonder with KO Blow, but the stacked rage, rock throwing, and the fairly recent option of tanker epics you can still spit out some decent range damage if your built for it. This plays great in teams if you use all your tools (taunt more pls), though solo its not so mean but still a bit of a pain.

KM/Regen Scrapper - Currently the damage is broken on KM for scrappers so they can hit someone and take 700 HP. If you like FoTMs, roll em while its hot and run around and try to 3 shot ppl. Expect to see a fix for this in i35. Overall Regen or SR is your pretty standard FiteKlub toon. I highly suggest NOT ever rolling one of these. It ends up making ppl so closed minded about PvP in general and I dont want you to join the rest of the noob scrapper fite klubbing mass(s) (Im not really sure how many are left of these but it cant be the majority of PvPers that are left just yet...)

Sharks/Sharks Stalker - As much as noob stalkers are hated for spamming sharks and that is all, there is no denying the fact that a smart player on a stalker that can pull off an AS can be a very real threat. If they can actually function in a team, thats like 100x better then the average stalker youll find in RV at any given time. Oh did and there is sharks.

Overall thats kinda the basics as far as toons go. I didnt cover healing much (emps/pains), though they re very viable with a team. They wont spit out much damage (unless you spec them for damage but if you do you would be greatly hurting their healing/buffing ability so you might as well just roll a therm or rad). I didnt cover some of the less played combos, but it doesnt make them any less viable (Im talking about different sorts of disruption and debuffs, not whether or not your energy blaster will be better then a psi blaster. It wont, get over it). Some ppl like to play disruption and that is all they have fun on. It is a totally separate play stlye. Anyway I think this book is done. Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Wow, that is a lot of great info! Thank you very much. I like the idea of a sonic/therm or rad/therm. That is the direction I will most likely go. If I do go that way, I suppose encouraging my buddy to make a brute would be a good choice? Perhaps the SS/Invuln you mentioned...What about willpower instead of invuln. I only aske because he alrady has a SS/WP in his 30s.
  16. There is definitely room! Welcome to the DP super team!
  17. Also, here is a list of toons I currently have. I'm curious if any of these would be well suited for budget PvP.

    Energy/Energy Blaster
    Axe/WP Tank
    Arch/Fire Blaster
    Elec/Dev Blaster
    DP/Kin Corr
    Grav/Energy Dom
    Ice/Ice Dom
    Dark/Storm Corr
    Claws/Elec Brute
  18. I have recently been intrigued by the idea of creating a PvP toon, but the cost of PvP IOs seems totally daunting to me. I could afford to build one, but I just can't see sinking all that inf in to one toon. So I want to get a general idea of what a decent, relatively cheap to build, PvP toon would be. Some parameters for you to consider before responding:

    1. I HATE stalkers. I have made a few and find them to be zero fun for me.
    2. When I say "cheap", I'm thinking less than 3-4 billion.
    3. Toon will be used primarily for zone PvP, duo teaming with a buddy. Suggestions for synergistic duos for PvP are appreciated.
    4. I would prefer to avoid melee, but am open to it if the combo intrigues me.
    5. Are there certain servers where zone PvP is more popular?
  19. I also wanted to see if anyone had any requests on what to run next week. I am a TF fan myself, so Im all about picking a TF every week, but if anyone has suggestions, I'm open for anything. If no one has any preference, we will plan on doing Posi next week (both parts time permitting).
  20. A bit off topic, but for those interested, we run a dual pistols super team on Freedom on Thursdays, and we can always use more members. Click the link in my sig to go to the thread. If you want to roll a new toon to join us, I would be happy to PL you a bit to catch you up with the team.
  21. Last night we fought our way through the Sister Psyche TF and a good time was had by all. Cobalt-Cowboy dinged 26. We did have to pick up some pugs to fill the team, but a few people sent me tells expressing interest in rolling up a DP toon to join us next week.

I would like to extend an offer to anyone who is interested in joining us, but doesnt have a DP toon currently. If you roll up a new toon, I will happily PL you so you can join us at close to the average level of the team. I figure I can easily get folks to 22 so they can at least slot SOs. I'll even put up a few million inf for you to slot your new dualie up if you need it. So if you want to join the team, but are afraid you'll be too far behind, fear no more.

It seems illogical to me that people would buy a crafted IO for 12 or 15 or 20 million inf when I pick up the recipe for 500K and the salvage for 3.5 million. But they do it. All the time. (level 50, positron's blast and performance shifter, to mention two where I've made some money.) If you look at the top level of any melee, ranged, AOE, defense, or resistance set you'll probably find at least one of those six IO's where there's a good, profitable spread between recipe + salvage + crafting cost, and cost of crafted IO -10%. "Buy for five million, sell for ten to twenty" is good for learning, because if you get bit on your second time through the system and lose your inf you are still ahead of the game; it's also good for the long term, because you can make a few billion that way.

    Four quick notes:
    1) List well under the "last 5"- I have listed a lot of things for 12 million that sold for 20. Sometimes the "last 5" on those was 15 million.
    2) Until you get comfortable, work in small batches. This depends on how much attention you pay, vs. how much risk you mind.
    3) Niches collapse, it's the nature of the beast. Sometimes they come back quickly, sometimes they don't come back at all. If you have something that's, like, "Buy at 1 million, add 3.5 million inf of salvage, sell at 40 million" do not be surprised if one day it starts selling for 6 or 8 million. (I think that happened to Impervious Skin Res/Rech.)
    4) You can move into more expensive stuff, buy for 20 + salvage + crafting, sell for 40. Buy for 300+salvage+crafting, sell for 400. It's riskier. Some people pay more attention when they're spending half a billion inf. Fortunately, some people don't.
This is golden advice here. Us marketeers profit off other people's laziness. There will always be people who just don't want to spend their game time buying recipies and crafting their enhancements so they pay a premium price for ready to use enhancements. That's where us marketeers come in. There is and always will be a demand, and we will always be here to fill it. Don't be discouraged if you take a bath and lose a small fortune on something, it happens (I'm looking at you Decimation). Just keep looking for a niche and go for it. Only playing the game for six months, I have managed to generate well over 15 billion following Fulmens's basic outline given above.
  23. I was shocked that I was able to get Irish-Fury on for my brute. Also grabbed Knight-Archer (powerset obvious) and Freedom Surge for my elec blaster.
  24. Brave Starr is working late tonight so I'm gonna push the time back to 6:30 Central time. So far we only have three confirmed, so anyone else with a DP character level 20 or above is welcome to join us for Sister Psyche Task Force at 6:30 PM. Meet at the contact in IP. Post below to reserve a spot. The team as of right now...

    2. BraveStarr
    3. Crow Seven
