We did it again!
A lot of fun zipping around PI and I saw gale, wormhole, hurricane, and much Knockback was had by all! -
I honestly have no idea.
I was getting choppy behavior before and a memory flush software package took care of that by freeing the memory leak up and a 192mb cap of free RAM.
This is a new wierd behavior and makes me think it is tied to one of the newer patches. -
I was also out of commision last night but will be on tonight.
All levels and ATs welcome only requirement is an acceptance to Knockback and other "undesirable" status effects. Trust me with a bunch of knockback - handclap rocks. -
So since Issue 17 myself and many other people experience a strange occurrance:
I can zip across a zone any zone and be pulling from 70-50 fps and suddenly I am at 1 or 2 fps. Now it does not do it constantly - sometimes I can run around with care free abandon and other times its like running through molasses.
It does not appear to be related to how many people are on the zone - I zipped through Atlas on Virtue with quite a crowd without a pause and O-ported to Indy port with a /whoall of 8 people and came to a standstill.
Running netgraph and showfps - I don't see a relationship between the 2. I can have mown grass and be standing still at 1fps. It does not appear to do it at all inside missions.
I know it affects others because inside teams when I comment on it they all agree it happens to them. -
Need an Idea? Easy - build an Energy/Energy blaster and join us on Virtue in Talos on most nights at 9 PM EST - we form Knockback teams and it is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
It takes a rare tank to understand - YOU HAVE NO CONTROL and just go with it
Handclap, Check.
Gale, Check.
Hurricane, Check.
Torrent, Check.
Repel, Check.
Peacebringers, Check.
Taunt, Handclap and let rip the Knockback of WAR! -
Before I forget - we accept ALL AT's and power in the Knockfest.
We do however encourage the use of it liberally and not necessarily in good taste or sense.
I know this can wear on some people after a while, chaos is an acquired taste and personally I find it refreshingly fun in the age of grinding teams with perfect builds that crush through +4 groups.
With these teams you never know when you just aggro'd that second or 3rd group with a random knockback
The most fun is hitting a Boss intent on giving you a sound thrashing and see him literally cartwheeling into the air and dead before they hit the ground. It doesn't get better than that. -
I don't play every night but I do most nights.
In game I am currently using Dansant (shimmer in French) Energy/Energy. Nothing is required I am just going to try and have it going most nights for the sheer fun of it.
Tonight I may not be able to make it at 9 - I have fighting practice. -
Well the first Knockback Knight was fun - we got 6 knockback folks + a tank with hand clap and a Kin/arch def.
The tank would not run around and try and hold aggro. He taunted to start, hit hand clap and we all cut loose. Then he would attack the largest group and taunt the others. UI went on straggler control killing off any bum rushers with my Energy/Energy blaster.
The Peacebringers were in heaven being actually ENCOURAGED to spam knockdown/Back!
We had one team wipe because as often happens when steamrolling you get a little loose on aggro splash. So when 4 groups of Tsoo were pounding us we realized it might be bad.
As for level range ANY level is fine. If you can push, pull or drag yourself to Talos at about 9 pm EST - I should be on most nights and will get it going! We normally form up run one mission to see how we gel and then start laying waste to the enemy!
Seeing 2 energy blasters and 2 peacebringers letting loose on mobs stunned by handclap all at one time was great fun. We had no real healing with just an AoE kin heal. But rarely were we taking any damage at all. Council turn into a wolf? I would slap him into a corner and rain knockback on him until he was dead.
It was chaos and not for those wanting an organized easy team - but is was FUN chaos. -
I plan on doing this almost EVERY day
I play most nights in the evening and so rolling TF's and missions with the Knockback crew will be fun -
After playing on a team full of Knockback and finding it was glorious chaos and destruction - I would like to try and make it a regular thing.
I will try nightly at 9 pm EST to form a Knockback team in Talos.
Invited are all those people with knockback, stuns, disorients or other annoying powers that people complain about. We embrace Knockback and in fact encourage it!
Our favorite foe? Council! They have lots of knockback - so much so it is impressive. We also embrace Tsoo and CoT.
You got Hand clap 6 slotted? BRING IT ON!
Energy blaster? Pew Pew Pew all night long!
Ever see a boss defeated in midair? It happens everytime!
If you don't enjoy chaos and the over-powered fun of villains raining from the sky - you need not apply.
Fun is about to begin - if your gaming is Zerious Biznez - Don't join a Knockback Team.
Legal disclaimer - Due to complaints by the various villain factions to Atlas City Hall - those attending Knockback meetings may find themselves subject to class action Whiplash suits. -
Older still? The absolute silence on the causes of the server instability.
It just keeps crashing and nary a word. -
Update:
So far no issues - no lag, choppiness, rubberbanding or sound loops.
I understand your milage may vary but so far other than one random kick from the server - which is not unusual I have flawless play with Memokit installed on a Windows XP Pro setup. -
I agree that if you aren't having trouble - I wouldn't try and fix it.
So far I have been playing hitch free - in fact better than for a very long time including pre-Issue 17.
If it isn't broke don't fix it - however if it is broke its worth a try - and for what its worth I have nothing to do with the program, just looking for a fix. -
I have been suffering thru all of the rubber banding and lag of Issue 17 and having seen the creeping memory leak - I decided to try and fix this myself if possible. So I downloaded Memokit from www.cnet.com and so far - lag free!
I will let you know if any other issues arise. -
In my opinion leaving tough until 32 is a mistake. I would move Consume and Fire Sword out further, unless this is a solo tank. In a team you will die OFTEN with Tough at 32 - I usually take it at 14.
Fire is the weakest of all of the tanks. It requires serious dedication to get to the 30's where it becomes stronger and then late in the game it is much weaker than all the other tanks.
I know people are going to chime in and say my fire tank did this and blah, blah, blah - however if you IO out any other tank and play them the Fire tank dies first every single time - except for Ice tanks who with so much defense can have a luck breakdown and insta-gib.
Your team buffs really matter with fire, a group of nazi's with slows can stop you from healing completely - then you die - but that Kin of bubbler saves your bacon.
Personally a Fire/Fire tank is a slightly tougher scrapper with less damage in my opinion. Without the knockdown, stuns or other mitigation, everything hits you and you can be dead before you know it. I always use SS and as a vet skip hasten. Often late in the game I will get Heal other and heal self for my Fire tank.
I do use Burn often and I wish they would remove the panic, but the sins of Fire tankers past still haunt us and so we get no love. We asked for knockback protection in Temp pro and a bit of DEFENSE 5% or so and were denied. I have stopped making fire aura tanks/scrappers and instead use dark and color it like fire. -
I rarely take nukes until into the late 40's.
The few non-end drainers are useful Sonic, Rain of Arrows and such. As a blaster being in melee range, out of end and having all the aggro.......is bad. -
I have a 50 BS/WP called Thwak and in many teams since he is fully IO'd out he survives better than the tanks.
I fact I recently tanked a TF with him as the tank kept dying.
Parry is your friend and the shield defense won't change that. I wouls also put the chance to Knockdown IO in parry - it is fun to keep knocking an AV down -
Quote:No.If I crossfired two of them together, would it provide a notable improvement?
Crossfire or SLI does actual very little to boost frame rates:
This might help you:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...lock,2625.html - crossfire provides depth to play games at reasonable framerates at high resolution.
If you play them at a lower resolution a single card is more than adequate. -
I would stick to just a few basics:
Asus or MSI motherboard
High quality Power supply as these 2 items are the heart of the machine - this one rocks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006.
Then a top quality memory like Mushkin, Corsair or Crucial (I like A-data as well).
The case is also important as it can last for YEARS. I like Aluminium cases like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&name=Aluminum
I like the Thermaltake cases but a LOT of good ones out there - get a case with plenty of room for ventilation and ease of servicing.
AMD or Intel honestly doesn't matter much. Intel has the faster ones at this time but AMD is quite cheap and also fine.
Hard drive - I always use a Raptor on a gaming rig. This is also a nice drive:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145315 -
For what it's worth - asking if you have room on a team in a team based game is not rude.
It is no different from someone asking me if I want to join a team.
Communication takes many forms and the game allows you to see who is in a team and who is not if they aren't hidden. I think you take the game and yourself waaay to seriously. Have fun kill stuff and get eggspee. -
For the best debuffs going - Dark/Ice defender or Ice/Dark corr.
-
The fun part of Rad/Mental is watching when people start groaning about CoT.
I LOVE fighting CoT - they just melt. I usually say - just take the Alpha and watch them disappear
In a couple of groups the team is laughing at them -
I don't see any mention of Radiation/Mental?
I have to say after playing a short time (28 at the moment) I am a complete AoE machine.
Neutron bomb
Haze
Scream
A self heal/End boost
I rarely use either of the 2 single hit attacks (except my nice stun). -
I will assume you have someone who can build a system for you - you can add $25 or so for shipping and the Foxconn AM3 motherboard is cheaper if you like:

I will resist my inclination to retaliate to your obvious insults and snide remarks.
A system with a 9800 gt video card would obviously not support 2mb of ram. So that was a typo.
A system that ran i16 absolutely fine in fact due to my raptor I almost always am the first loading into a mission - suddenly runs terrible the VERY DAY i17 HITS and so its somehow MY fault?
I said ALL DRIVERS are UPDATED.
It is NOT just me. Go and ask in game and look at all the other posts here. An open blunt acknowledgment of a problem and current steps to undertake it would be a start.
A small blurb in one of Castles posts saying we have a build on test that may fix it - isn't enough.
Sorry, I am a system admin and maintain servers, workstations, printers, phones and all supporting equipment for over 700 people and if I provided that level of response I would be fired.
