Wow, either this build is so horrible that it's beyond help, or I'm doing something right. I doubt it is the latter... okay, say I wanted to build for melee defense, is that doable?

Greetings,
I'm looking to update my old Fire/EM tank, who is still Issue 5 spec'd with SO's. Since the recent buffs came about for FA, I thought I'd try to at least recapture some of the glory of the old days. I came up with a build in Mid's, albeit not completely sure of a direction I wanted to go, and came up with a 20%-30% typed defense build. I wanted to fit fireball in but was unable to find room for it. I haven't played this toon in a few years, so any help is appreciated. Maybe the slotting could be better?

Okay, so this thread was dying since no one seemed to have an opinion on the 2nd build I posted, meaning it was absolutely horrible or absolutely perfect. Today I tinkered around more in Mids and finally found a way to achieve uber recharge, albeit at the cost of defense bonuses. Yes, it resorts to purple sets, but I guess it was unavoidable.

The problem with Time Bomb is not necessarily the damage, but the fact that the power itself goes directly against the standard group mentality of " I want that group of mobs dead 10 seconds ago!"
Solo, this doesn't apply as you control the pace of the battles. -
Updated my build with some different tricks( or gimmicks) I've decided I really like using my hold, and as mentioned earlier, a 24% chance to hold a boss isn't all that stellar. So I instead chose to give my self 100% chance to hold a boss with a second Hold with dominate from the psy mastery epic. I haven't read the new posts yet ( starting with chief_beef) so I'll get to that soon.
I reduced some of the "crazy" accuracy bonuses and added more AoE and ranged Defense and a little more damage bonus. I Still would like to get more +recharge in there...

Slotting for accuracy is very redundant at this point. Plus, if you're going to be storm crazy, they have a great accuracy already and thus don't need the accuracy to begin with.

@ Garent:
I use Freeze Ray frequently after the 2 rains as part of my ST chain. While solo I use it to isolate the Lts / bosses from the minions to manage spawns (I Let the rains deal with the minions and throw ST chain/hold to safely defeat bosses) On teams, I use it to help mitigate damage from the second boss the melee has aggro'd or keep them off of other squishies, including me. My experience thus far on teams is that its generally appreciated.
As far as Frost Breath goes, I seem to have a rough time making the most out of narrow (30 degree) cones, so I generally avoid them.

This is my first defender I've rolled in over 3 years and I came up with this build which focuses on the strength of the defender class (namely the leadership pool) but also suits my blaster play style. I would have liked to squeeze out more +recharge, but I guess I'm just greedy.

I'm thinking of finally giving Dark Melee a whirl after all my years on CoX and want to pair it with the Fire epic pool (the toon will have a demonic tone), but can't decide on a 2ndary to match it up with.
My last Scrapper was a /shield so I'm not looking to play the same set twice so quickly. I'm also looking to take most of the fire epic pool in my 40's so I need a set that can fit that in.
Is Melt Armor worthwhile? I was thinking of going Char/Fireblast/Fireball for AoE dmg or Melt Armor to mix it up a bit. Maybe both is there was a way to fit them

Hello,
Leveling up my Night Widow was a fun process; and I respec'd NW powers a couple of times on the journey to 50. I looked at sample builds and they all had some similar picks in power pools to a degree, namely the speed pool. I wanted to do something different. I want to achieve the effects of the speed pool without ever taking it. This means having a very fast natural movement speed to closely mimic Super Speed, and recharge to mimic hasten, with out ever having to take said powers. Bear in mind I created my NW before the ninja pack( which is a great boon for my build ) came out. Also, I am aiming more for burst DPS rather than streamline DPS.

Things I know I want to change so far and questions:
1.Eventually remove Decimation from poison dart to fit 2 more parts of Apocalypse
2. Slot out strike with Hecatomb ( this will take a while, maybe a replacement set for the mean while?)
3. Get a 2nd slot into swift (adds another 2 mph)
4. Get more GotA: run speeds or other run speed set bonuses
5. Sub out Scirroco Dervish/Multi strike in Eviscerate for Obliteration
6. Find out what to do with all the basic slotted IO powers. should I frankenslot LoTG/GotA?
7. The power selection order is not what I originally selected it, but its been so long I forget what order I picked them in. Which brings me to-
8. Anything I should drop that would be better? I read that Elude is rather excessive but I choose it for a different reason than most- Run speed!
9. I do run into the problem of endurance in drawn out battles, suggestions?
10. Lastly, more def bonuses would be nice, especially ranged.

A friend of mine recently bought a new lab top to play CoX. She has the Steam client and bought the Architect edition through Steam. But when she tries to launch from steam, Steam client gives her the message that the game is currently unavailable. Is there a problem here? why won't it launch normally when its installed?

Yup. I have a heck of a time getting it to do it, however. If I position an enemy between me and my target when I fire off Jacob's Ladder, it's very rare that it hits OR misses the guy between us. The cone needs to be more forgiving.

When I first heard of Jacob's ladder ( and saw a cool video of what it looked like IRL) I had pictured it to have a cone range much like Combustion rather than Shadow Maul. As it is now, it is a chore to line it up correctly to hit more than one mob. Does Increase range help at all? -
