Quote:I went with the control hybrid on a whim and i feel like its doing alright, but what i hear from a friend with assault is its hands down better than control. Ill probably switch it up soon. Im only on tier 2 so I haven't invested much in it yet.I thought it was on my Elec Dom and crafted the Tier 4 Core as soon as I failed my 5th Magi. Now a little voice is telling me that maybe I should've done more research and looked more closely at Assault, if for no other reason than that the Auto +DMG is more useful than Status Resist to a permadom.
So assuming that enemies are messed for the entire duration of Control Hybrid, does Control Hybrid give more of a boost than either of the Assault Tier 4s or should I head back to the drawing board? -
Quote:I completely agree, and highlighted the message most new Doms need to understand.
Also note: fire/fire/fire is THIRSTY for blue. Toggles make this worse, so be careful. Unlike scrappers and such, your best bet to stay living is to stun/hold, stopping attacks rather than taking them. Low hitpoints make dominators, even with decent defense, still die fast. Fire's handy trick is that it kills everything fast enough you don't need to hold things as long. -
Quote:Embrace of fire is nice, but can be skipped if you need other powers? The pure dps boost it gives makes it a no brainer in my opinion. Combined with rain of fire and fire ball from the ancillary I'd say its a must have.So for skippable powers in a leveling Fire/Fire I would say Ring of Fire, Smoke, Bonfire and maybe Cinders. Cinders isn't great but it's useful as a backup control. In the secondary, Embrace of fire is nice, but can be skipped if you need other powers, Combustion is not worth taking, Blazing Bolt is skippable. If I24 changes snipes to be useful for Doms, IE something special besides the current planned tohit requirement, then it might be useful. Rest of them can be good depending on what you want. Since Combustion sucks, Fire Breath is your AE, at least until you are up to EPP levels. Then it depends on if you go with Fire or Ice EPPs.

Quote:I agree.I go for Hasten, a travel power, a combat travel power, Stealth, Aid Other and Aid Self. I skip the Medicine pool if I have another way to heal (like Life Drain).
The best way Ive found to keep from getting killed is to kill the mobs to begin with, as fast as possible. DOMINATE them, unload, clean up rinse repeat. Taking powers like weave and tough, for example, is a waste for an offensive based character ,IMO. -

That's reassuring, however, please keep in mind that on at least one of these issues (the amount of increase in the life/damage/etc. of the new bosses) it really does appear to be the case thet you are mistaken in your belief that an even level I3 boss=+1 I2 boss.

I'd have to agree with that. Fighting a orange con boss, he was 36(council "archon", Im a level 36 fire tanker) he was hitting quite a bit harder than a red con boss in I2. I'd say he was about +3, give or take. Like fighting a purple con boss from I2, a lvl 38 or 39 maybe..... Ive fought plenty of 38s, and know how they "feel", damage wise. This guy was hitting that hard.

So is Doomy doom a lighter version of doom? Or are you saying I get like the supersized for a quarter more even though I'm already a fat bastage and dont need the extra calories doom?
