  1. I made a mastermind and started in Praetoria. I realized after the fact that I wouldn't be able to access a sub-20 character in Praetoria if I let my subscription expire. But it brings me to this question:

On a free account, may I access a character that's level 20+ and outside Praetoria if that's where the character originated? Is it still a "praetorian" after it's left the zone?

The last time I played since 2006 was this September, so I know very little about Going Rogue content.

    Thanks.

    Impale vs. Focus

I'm thinking of making a stalker that will primarily be used for Siren's Call PvP (and maybe Warburg). I've already decided to pick a primary with a ranged attack, so Claws or Spines. However, I'm having a hard time choosing between the two sets.

Right now, it's all coming down to Impale versus Focus. According to the oh-so-reliable Prima guide, here's the data I have:

Impale: 8 second recharge, 80' range, ~2.5 second animation, high chance of extra DoT damage, -fly, -immobilize, slow, slight -recharge

Focus: ~6.5 second recharge, 40' range, ~1.5 second animation, knockdown

I'd like to be slightly less common in PvP, so I was thinking of taking Claws. But is the range of Focus really only 40'?
  3. You do realize that you just necro'd a post that hadn't been replied to in 26 months, right?

But yeah, I agree, there are way too many times that I drag my Respites over to teammates that desperately need them only to find out they have a full inventory. Very frustrating for teammates to die when inspirations are right there to be used.

  5. How sure are you that Dull Pain reduces the amount of damage taken towards the damage badges?

Long before Issue 7 there was a bug with regen stalkers. If a regen stalker were running Dull Pain, it could regain Hidden status extremely easily - all it had to do was stay above base HP. As long as you stayed above base HP with Dull Pain running, taking damage did not interfere with Placate at all (the placate effect or putting you into Hidden status), and taking damage would not stop a stalker from reHiding in the usual time (as long as the stalker stopped attacking). In fact, if you never attacked at all, Dull Pain would completely prevent Hide from breaking until you were taken down below your base HP.

Castle posted about the bug after it was fully discovered that Dull Pain was the reason some stalkers could stay Hidden while under fire. However, he didn't say that the bug was being fixed because it was overpowering regen stalkers. Rather, he said that it was being fixed because it directly interfered with the awarding of some badges.

So when the devs would able to fix the bug with Dull Pain and regen stalkers, it was implied that the bug fix would enable all damage taken while using Dull Pain to count for damage badges. The bug fix was for all HP-boosting powers, not just a stalker's Dull Pain.

This bug has since been fixed - I say this because my /regen's Placate now works in the same way regardless of Dull Pain running or not. Dull Pain does not prevent me from being knocked out of Hide anymore. Since the bug fix's purpose was to allow for proper awarding of badges (assuming Healing and Damage Taken), I would assume that running Dull Pain today should not worry anyone concerned with earning their Damage Taken badges.

    Placate Nerf

As a guy who plays a level 40 Stalker solo in Warburg, this Placate change doesn't bother me a bit. If I walk up to a team of 8 with no perception, AS someone, then use Placate on ONE person, why should I disappear from sight from the ENTIRE team? Placating should mean that my single target cannot aggro me (as I've appeased his aggro with Placate), not that I disappear from view if there's no +perception.

Placate should = cannot target anymore, not cannot target AND cannot see anymore.

This change will only affect teams where not a single member remaining after an AS + Placate has a +perception power. Even from my stalker's PoV, this change makes sense to me and I like it.

"Assassin's" Attack - Every Stalker can get this at level 6 (Primary Power set). It's practically a must have, and should be taken at level 6. Although it doesn't do much damage while you're not hiding (probably less than your level 1 attack power, and it's interruptable), it gets even more criticals while you are hiding. As soon as you get this, add at least 4 more slots to it (two at level 7 & two more at level 9) so you can have 2 +ACC and 3 +DAM Enhancements. The 6th slot you coud put in another +ACC or a -END enhancement. With just 3 TO damage enhancements you can put most even-level minions on the floor. With 3 SO damage enhancements, you can put most +1 to +2 minions on the floor. LTs are going to be hurting after this. Also, 90% of the damage done is un-resistable!

    [/ QUOTE ]

The critical damage done by AS is indeed resisted in PvE. As an MA/Regen (level 37) who does all smashing damage, I know too well that an AS does less damage to a Freakshow Tank boss than to a Lost Pariah boss. In PvE, the critical damage of AS is typed (lethal for Spines, Claws, and Ninja Blade; smashing for Martial Arts; energy for Energy Melee) and the proper resistances apply. It is in PvP where the critical damage is unresisted.

In another thread, someone reported that they asked he devs about the dull pain behavior and they reported that it was working like intended.

That is, with dull pain up I can stand around getting wailed on, and still slip back into hide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could you point me to that thread in here or by PM? If that's intended, then it's quite a feature for us regenners.
  9. I was wondering why sometimes I could kite baddies and slip back into Hide while still taking ranged damage! If Dull Pain is the key, it finally makes sense.

And if it's just because of Dull Pain, that could be why people in the Blaster forum didnt' believe me when I said that Lightning Field could interrupt my AS without knocking me out of Hide.

I'm guessing it's a bug, but a really useful bug that "balances" the damage potential of reHiding for /Regen with other sets that can reHide more easily because of defensive toggles.
  10. EM Pulse has been that way for a long time (at least 6 months). Ever since my Earth/Rad hit 50 during the first half of 2005 and I started attending Hami Raids, I've seen that EM Pulse says it disorients and immobilizes. And people there argued some about if it was a true hold or not, and has always been agreed that since the power takes Hold enhancements (and they noticeably affect duration) that the power is a hold.

Here's an easy test - try EM Pulse out on foes that resist disorient but not holds. Siege's minions and Nemesis Jaegers aren't disoriented by 1 application of my Stalagmites, but they are affected by 1 application of EM Pulse.
