I just grin like Cheshire Cat and hit Power Boost and Glacier. The grin gets wider with every DOMINATION I see.

Katana! What, I'm not a boss-killer?
I guess MA would do more knockback and stuns, but personally I dislike running after knocked-back mobs all the time. Stuns are great, though.
Katana's two top moves have a pretty regular knockdown/knockup, which is good enough to keep a boss on his back most of the time if chained properly. And Divine Avalanche is great, obviously. And I think Katana does more damage -
You're mixing something up, I think? Barrage is the 1st tier attack, quick and cheap.
-
A few ideas:
Do you run all shields all the time? I'd question if you need power shield at all that early, let alone if you need to have it on at all times. Only activate it when there really is some substantial fire, cold, enery or negative damage around. There might not be that much mezzing either, but knockback protection is always nice for a Brute IMO. My /Fire brute is going crazy without it.
Do you use Brawl? Build up Fury quickly using just Brawl and Barrage and only use the other attacks when you have decent Fury going, it's a lot more endurance efficient that way.
I'm sure it'll get better soon, though. DOs will help a lot. -
Congratulations! I already said it in advance but I think it bears saying again. Oh, and congratulations!

I don't know about secondary but I gotta say Energy Melee is amazing. No ranged attacks, though.
-
OK, looks like we have a pretty good turnout even if there would be a few that can't make it. Looks good for the sidekicks, too.
Meet me at Talos Island green line station or just send a tell to Idris (@Idris) -
Well this is take 2 - if you remember I posted about this a few weeks ago but RL issues forced me to postpone it.
I have a series of Carnies train missions I've been saving for the purpose of killing as many summoned Master Illusionists as possible. Now I'm getting sick of it taking up arc space, so tomorrow is going to be the day.The enemies will be around level 45 for the first mission and probably a few levels higher for the later ones.
We need a 8-man team for this to get maximum yield, higher levels are welcome as well as lower provided we have SK space.
So, who's up for this? -
This made me laugh. It's exactly what he does
I wish he'd cycle his powers more. There's no reason why he shouldn't use his blast while the swords recharge, and no reason why he shouldn't run into melee whenever he gets the chance. He's so much better in melee that I find it frustrating when he just stands back and blasts. I'm thinking about getting Recall Friend too, just to teleport him around.
I read somewhere on US forums that when he is blasting at range he will only go into melee by himself if someone shoots him with a ranged attack. Guess he believes the bit about range being defense, which is a bit daft considering all his damage mitigation only works in melee.
I do find that he sometimes follows me into melee range if I go, so it's a good thing I spend most of my time there anyway. It just would be nice to get him there before me. -
My AA is 3 endreds and I think 1 confuse, I intend to add confuses if I can spare slots later.
Oh, and my Jack's slotted 1acc, 3 dam and Slick just 3 recharges. Might add a hold or two to Jack later. -
Well, I have ice/ice and it's been lots of fun to play. I don't really PvP but maybe I can say something useful anyway
I think Ice/Ice would actually be one of the most control-oriented dominators around. The primary is possibly the least damaging one and the secondary is kind of control-heavy too, what with Power Boost and Chilling Embrace. Additionally, I think the lvl35 and lvl38 powers are not quite as damaging as in the other sets, I'm only lvl 33 at the moment but Greater Ice Sword numbers look quite disappointing compared to regular Ice Sword in the tests some people have done on US forums. But I bet -recharge will really drive people crazy in PvP
Jack Frost is a pretty well balanced pet with both damage and control. He has Chilling Embrace and a melee hold, as well as Ice Bolt, Ice Sword and Greater Ice Sword. His Greater Ice Sword is not disappointing, in fact it's pretty amazing. The only problem with him is that it can sometimes be hard to get him into melee.
Arctic Air and Chilling Embrace do stack and yes, things move very slowly when they're both running. Chilling Embrace has much smaller area though, AA's is the size of Ice Slick and Chilling Embrace is basically only melee range. I dropped Chilling Embrace in my last respec because I needed to pick up some pool powers, but I intend to get it back as soon as I can because it was a really nice combo. AA breaks Stealth too, and that has got to be great for PvP. Be prepared for ridiculous endurance cost, though. Ice/Ice is very endurance-hungry even without AA, I could never have managed without Stamina.
So, pool powers.. well, IMO you're going to need Stamina. I have Aid Other/Self and Aid Self boosted my survivability a lot in PvE, especially in PUGs. One interrupt reducer in Aid Self helps a lot, with two you would probably almost never get interrupted unless there was DoT on you. -
Congratulations again Standoff, well done!

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to postpone this.
Some RL stuff has come up and I need to be away a few days. I'll reschedule when I get back

Ice gets its AoE hold at level 26. It has very long recharge and very short base duration (80% of the controller version, which is already very short). When I first got it I didn't know whether to laugh or cry as the base duration at lvl26 was really laughably short, basically so short that there was no point of ever using the power as it's PBAoE and does nothing except get you killed. Accuracy totally sucks as well.
However, add some slots and it's a lot better, add Domination and it's better than the controller version, add Power Boost and it can really turn the tide of a battle you're losing. The recharge is still so long that it's mostly situational and I tend to only use it as a panic button.
The single target hold is pretty good and I never thought it lacks duration-wise, although it too is at 80% of the controller version. That's all the holds Ice gets. Instead it has great soft control in Ice Slick, Arctic Air and Shiver.
Edit: Oh, Jack Frost has a hold too, and often helps stack holds on bosses. -
If I were to start a second dominator now, it would be Plant/something. Plant seems like a very strong set with some very interesting powers.
IMO almost the most important thing about secondaries is the self-buff, as it seems to accentuate the general nature of the set.
/Fire or /Thorn for damage (Fiery Embrace or Aim, and attack powers have DoT. Thorn slows as well)
/Energy or /Ice for increased control (Power Boost, and knowckback/slow secondary effects)
/Psi i think gets some kind of endurance buff? It's generally a bit lowish on damage but I hear the final power is awesome
I play Ice/Ice, which is a very team-friendly control-oriented set IMO. I like it quite a lot but honestly , I think Plant would be stronger. -
We'd be happy to have you along, Standoff, and any other 45+ highbies are welcome too. XP is much less important than than this run smoothly.
How does sunday 4pm GMT sound to everyone?
Also, anyone know if we'll get a maximum yield of bosses on unyielding or invincible? -
[ QUOTE ]
well if you do it before thursday 5 pm count me inlvl 50 ill/ff/psi troller
[/ QUOTE ]
What happens after that, you turn into a pumpkin?
I was thinking either thursday or sunday, but before 5 pm on thursday might be a bit early for a lot of people?
Oh, and sidekicks in late 30s are absolutely welcome provided we get enough mentors. -
I have just picked up the first mission from Madeleine Casey's Carnies arc (the one with a lot of train missions). I'm intending to use this to get the Illusionist badge (needed for Archmage accolade).
My idea is to clear the entire maps with a large team and kill the summoned illusionists before masters. If enough people are interested, we can set a time and do this like a mini task force.
The enemies are going to be about lvl44-45 and this is not the most efficient way to do the missions, so we'd need a strong team. Ideally I'd also like to get XP from this but let's see who's interested first.
So, anyone up for this? -
I got hung there too and now I can't log in anymore so no worries.
I definitely can't make it in the afternoon, in the evening possibly but can't say for certain. It's ok though, set a time and I'll be there if I can, if not then I'll just have to get it another time -
Gratz oozy! Teamed with you on friday when you were only 48, i think, so that was pretty fast last 2 levels
-
Me me!
My dominator Jadis is lvl32 and missing this so I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll give you a shout around 6 -
OK I know the team is full now but someone usually can't turn up so can I get a reserve space for Idris, my lvl43 crazy (are there any other kind) scrapper?
Forums are acting odd and ate (I think) my last post.. -
Hee, at least this thread proves that there's not only one right choice.
