  1. Maybe it's the lack of CJ but that's how I tend to take the alpha, not prevent it..

The medicine pool could be very helpful, it would mean alot less downtime when solo or with a non-healing villain(s).

But then so would the invisibility pool. Be helpful that is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I second the medicine pool, it's a good choice for a dom.
  3. Keep Leaping, it's teh rox. You probably don't need Acrobatics though. Out of the others I'd probably consider Hasten.

You're not taking Parry? Why? It makes you 'arder.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah you can. You can hold or Sleep them. Or pull them round a corner onto an Ice Slick. Or drop Jack on them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *shrug*

Sleep is the only one on your list I'd really consider preventing alpha. Well, I guess summoning Jack too but in any larger team that will kill him so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

I hate that a discussion like this always ends up in nerf-calling. Nerfs are not fun! Isn't it better for everyone if instead Scissors and to some extent Paper are brought up to Rock's level of performance? Then we can all have milk and cookies together in harmony.

I don't have either cone, I dislike cones, I dislike DoT and I mistrust recharge slow since it doesn't stop the alpha strike.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is indeed a good point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it's a weird point, to be honest. As ice/ice you can't do much to stop alpha strike, short of placing ice slick from out of LOS. Better just accept it and move on. There are usually other people on the team that are much more suited for taking alpha. And if you don't appreciate -recharge, I'm not sure how you can enjoy an ice/ice at all.. Ice Slick is all it's got going for it then.
  7. I had the same question when I started my ice/ice. They do sound very alike from the description but they aren't, really. Shiver is a very large cone, Frost Breath is a lot smaller. I believe the slow in Shiver has a longer duration, too, and i'm not sure if it slows more. At any case I'd consider Frost Breath as a damage power and pick the slow power(s) among AA, Shiver and CE. I have AA and Shiver at the moment and I find them useful to stack -recharge, although some might consider that an overkill. I used to have CE but it has such a small range that I think Shiver makes more difference overall.

It wouldn't help Paper much against Rock but would improve its chances against Scissors. I believe Paper would still always lose one-on-one but a team of Papers might be able to beat Scissors. This begs the question, is RPS balanced for teams or one-on-one?
  9. My Kat/Regen was a bit faceplanty until I got Integration at 16. After that it was 34 levels of smooth sailing.

Blasters tend to be great at early levels, scrappers mature a bit slower.

I think Breakfrees would give Rock an unfair advantage. Paper has no defenses so having an inspiration that completely and reliably negates its attack would make it pointless. Who would ever pick Paper over Rock?

    I'm all for lucks, though.

Hmmm ill avoid lightning clap then...

Thunderstrike seems a bit of a must despite its painful animation as its AoE (better for teams) and disorientate effect for double effect on nasty bosses...

Between charged brawl and havok punch it looks like havok punch?

I suppose i may loose the first sonic attack to free up an elec slot later

    [/ QUOTE ]

The disorient in Thunder Strike is nice enough (although it's only a chance) but the AoE damage is IMO pretty meh. I have all /elec melee attacks and out of the four I'd drop Thunder Strike first, no contest. The others are all really lovely. I guess as sonic/ you could use the extra AoE, though.

    Sonic/Energy

Charged Brawl and Havoc Punch. They're both awesome. I'm personally not that fond of Thunder Strike. Lightning Clap has a nice quickish animation but it does tend to scatter mobs with the knockback.
  13. There is.. have Golden Dragonfly double crit when the cone effect kicks in. After Build Up
  14. Regarding Vines, I'm planning to take it with my Plant/Thorns (really enjoying it btw!) just for stacking mag and because I thought Aim could be used to take come of the suck out of it. My Ice/Ice needs to slot Glacier 2acc/2hold/2recharge and I was going to go for 3hold/3 recharge with Vines. It will still be pretty bad outside Domination, but no worse than controller AoE holds. Still wondering a bit if Roots or Thorntrops would benefit me more, though. Anyone have Thorntrops?

I hate that dominator secondaries always seem to make me want to get every single power. There are so many pool powers that would benefit doms too.

    Dwarf slotting

I think it depends on how much time you're intending to spend in Dwarf. The attacks are expensive so if you want to use those a lot you'll probably want to slot for endurance recovery too.

    Spore Burst

Does Spore Burst (the AoE sleep from Plant control) aggro?

I rolled a Plant/Thorns yesterday and I have to say just looking at it makes me happy. Nothing in the game is quite as evil looking
  18. Yeah, I think peacebringers are probably easier to get into.
  19. It is their secondary, though, and it's understandable if they want to take their primary powers first and foremost. Kinetics is a really busy set and if you concentrate on keeping everyone ID'd and SB'd and healed and buffed at all times there won't be much time left to actually blast.

That's why I took Fire primary for my kinetics corruptor. Maximum carnage for minimum time spent blasting, provided there's someone to take the aggro first. If there isn't, I concentrate more on the support side. And yeah, I'll probably pick up ID at some point but it's not a priority for me.
  20. There's an exploration badge in one of the cells. Can't remember which one but it's pretty easy to find.
  21. Aw, this is the only shards TF I haven't done but I can't make it this week

    HO Swap thread

You could try putting dmg/range in Golden Dragonfly, though? I'd do it if I wasn't saving mine for my peacebringer, who is much more in need of slots than Idris and has a perfect place for a damage/range ready.

    Patron pets

Wow, if they really get all the powers, Mu Guardian is going to be one awesome pet. It seems unlikely that the Coralax in particular would be as much weaker as it looks, though.

I had a Mu Guardian "pet" in a mission and it did heal me. Can't recall what else it used, unfortunately.
  24. Awesome work, Jiaozy and all team leaders for keeping things under control and not letting the idiots and the impatients get to you. The lag was quite an interesting experience.

Hoping we'll be raiding more often in the future, although looking at the sheer size of the event I have to applaud anyone who has the nerves and ability to organize it and keep it under control. More regular events would probably make it go smoother, though.

As an aside, apologies if I was briefly causing echo (or something) on the teamspeak server. I just installed the programme while waiting patiently in the sidelines like a good scrapper that I am, and wanted to check it out. I'll need to sort it out later so it actually works.
