Quote:Was he drunk? And on Drugs?Well if a 69 month vet is a noob....what am I a lowly 12 month vet? Seriously though, I farm enough with my fire/kin troller and EA/SS brute (both 50's) and I actually LIKE doing the content with my other alts..... I've had random tells asking me if i want to run +4/x8 missions on my alts and whenever i say no thanks i tend to get "rude-ish" tells back.
Hell just last night I had a lvl38 blaster send a tell to my lvl50 stone tank saying I had to PL him cause i was a 50, I replied with the fact I was doing SSTF4 with a full team so couldn't then got screamed at in tells to invite him to the tf or he'd make me pay.....
At that point I'd just had enough and because I don't like to ignore people due to being a mod on one of our global channels I had to go on hide, even then I was still getting offline messages from the guy which were pretty rude.
*sigh* the mentality of some players hey?
I mean seriously. Okay, I get that some people have a weird mentality about the game to say the least. But to send a tell to a complete stranger and demand that they PL you just cuz they are a level 50. That defies any sort of logic I can come up with for "weird" mentalitys. And to threaten you on top of it.
I don't know, sounds to me like the guy was drunk or on drugs or Both. But that's seriously messed up. -

So for a long time I wanted to use the different Vanguard swords on different weapons types. IE the Broadsword for the Katana, the Katana for the Dual blade sword etc.
I even suggested it a few times.
Then it happened and I was happy. It seemed like any sword class could by any vanguard sword from the vanguard store.
Now I went on to check my Katana Stalker's Vanguard merits and see what I needed to do to buy him the Broadsword and the option is gone.
Did I miss something, is this feature no longer available? Was it a bug that got fixed or was it something that is supposed to be there but is in error now? -
I'm guessing it amounts to more or less a list of some sort, some where of "wouldn't it be nice if..." features that never, or could never make it into this game due to time, man power or technical restraints, that they'd look over in the future for a sequel.

Umm, What happened to The Chantry and the Storm palace? The giant sphere buildings, the outer wall used to be see through, now it's opaque and white, is this a bug or is this an art decision? Doesn't look as good now IMO.

Quote:So it sounds like what you guys need is some sort of automated tool that scales these things for you within certain parameters.Creating alternate versions of a given costume part requires a character artist to rescale and refinish each one by hand. The process is repeated for each other category, so adding a 4th category would require that much more time for every single piece that's in the game. It's neither simple or fast.
So to get Female Huge, the tradeoff would've been losing at least a quarter of everything else in the game: 25% fewer costumes, 25% fewer enemies, etc. On top of that, you have to take into consideration the animation time involved. Every category receives custom-scaled animations whenever there's a weapon, cape, or other object involved (so the hands fit properly).
Bottom line, it's a massive undertaking that wouldn't really get us a lot of bang for the buck. Three scalable body types covers the vast majority of characters that players want to make, so while it'd be nice to have another one, the price is unfortunately too high.
IE: Sexy Jay Makes "Ulterior" Chest for men. Then some sort of tool modifies that piece to fit on a female figure, huge figure etc.
I'm not an artist and I have no idea how the devs are doing things in this game, so I don't know the specifics, but I'm willing to bet each piece goes through the same basic changes even if the details change.
At the very least the cool could do most of the routine stuff for you and let you guys do the light touch up or finishing, cutting down on, hopefully, a large part of the work.
Again, I have no idea what you're process is like, and I'm no artist, it seems to me their could be some sort of tool or program to do this.
Though at this point it'd be more of an idea to include for CoH 2 (If it ever happens.) I'm sure. -

Quote:These were Epic!Okay, since some of you have ventured into the realm of archetypes I guess I can take a swing at 'em...
Q: How many Kheldians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None; Human forms have glowing eyes and don't need bulbs, Dwarf forms can't pick up a bulb without crushing it and Nova forms end up with their suction cups stuck to the bulbs which results in a thick smell of fried calamari when the lights are turned on... eventually.
Q: How many Soldiers of Arachnos does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One if they are 1st through 23rd level or 25th and above... if 24th level they are busy respeccing and you may as well get used to the dark for a while. -
Quote:I love it!How many Praetorians does it take to change a light bulb?
Three. One to notice the bulb is dark. One Praetorian Clockwork to change the bulb. And one Seer to wipe the minds of everyone involved. Light bulbs don't burn out in the perfect society of the Empire, citizen! -

Quote:Wow... It all really is a Nemesis plot.
Q: How many Nemesis Soldiers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Eight one to locate a light bulb, one to inform an unsuspecting hero of a wave of darkness sweeping over the city, one to play a hapless hostage to confirm the story, one to stash the bulb in an enemy warehouse, one to tip off the hero about the item of power that can push back the darkness in a warehouse, one to drop hints about the altar of darkness the item of power must be inserted into to stop the wave of darkness, one to disguise the lamp as an altar and (finally) one to gloat and tell the hero hes been duped.
That one was my favorite.
And this one.
Quote:Q: How many Menders does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None; they dont change it; they go back in time to when it was still working.
But they all made me -
I hope now. I love that screen, I think it's pretty Iconic and I hope it never changes. It's one of the few things in this game I don't want to change. That and the music in Atlas Park

Quote:Word.robo, im going to be polite here, but you are just being overly dramatic about this. as i said, this is about as much in line with information as past q and a sessions, if YOU found nothing of value, do not assume none of us did. part of the reason for the closeness of the community to the developers is that we do see their more human sides as well, so yeah silly questions like the vodka one was just that, a little communtiy nod, if there had been a better question that they could have answered with what they are allowed to say now, the likely would have but there wasnt. please try to be rational here. and maybe you could toss around the term stupid a bit less, it can come back at you.
Honestly I for one got a bit out of this Q&A. There was some stuff I didn't know in there, not a lot, but a little. Plus I like the art for the new hospital.
Honestly there were some questions that were old but so what. I know not everyone reads the forums as much as I do, or searches for every last new scrap of info on the game like I do, some people may have gotten something new out of it. Either way, it's one more way the devs are communicating with us, and I'll take it over no communication, any day. -
Quote:My understanding is each AT will have tweaked power sets available to it.Each AT has access to different Epic sets.
Basically, he's asking what sets/powers will each AT have to choose from on the other side.
IE Brutes will have Epic pools made to fit them, and Blasters will have patron pools tailored to fit them etc.
Probably just tweaks of existing stuff but I'm pretty sure that's how it's going to break down. -
Yeah very much so in fact. I was really impressed with how futuristic\shiny it looks and I'm super looking forward to seeing that in game. Great job on the art.
-
For who, us or you? I imagine it would be awesome and Shocking. Though I'd probably have to move a little closer to mountain view for it to happen more frequently. As it is I'm on the other side of the bay.

Quote:I keep seeing post after post after post of people using the words "surely," "likely," "probably" and even "definitely" in regards to people getting kicked from teams due to perceived "bad power choices."
Let me give some examples of people who, according to the forums, will get kicked from the team because of their own foolish considerations:
- A Mastermind with no Henchmen
- An Arachnos Soldier or Arachnos Widow without Tactical Training: Maneuvers
- A Kinetics without Fulcrum Shift
- Any Kheldian
Maybe I'm just lucky, or perhaps Triumph is just a better server than the others, but in my experience, you are not going to get booted from a team based on your power selections.
Also: petless Mastermind /plug
As usual I'm in this thread really late but I'll throw in my 2 cents anyway.
It wasn't that long ago that I was using my level 47 PB and I was in Cimerora looking to do an ITF and low and behold one starts forming up. So I ask the leader a couple of times if they have room and was ignored.
I took that as a "no" until the leader finally said something along the lines of me not being able to keep up.
When I asked what that was about, she was explaining that they were running the ITF with only level 50s. A level 47 wouldn't do any good. I reminded her that with Super sidekicking I'd be in fact, level 49. She then explained that apparently 47, missing 6 slots and a power, wasn't as good as level 50 and then went into the bigger problem, which was, I was a PB. Apparently PBs are horrible in ITF speed runs...
Now I've run a lot of ITF Speed runs, and my PB has never been the one to slow it down except once, and it was because I was drunk, not because I was a PB. Don't drink and Speed ITF. (We still one, no thanx to the drunken PB.)
So I tried to point that out to her and got ignored.
So it does in fact happen. Though I will say, it's been my only experience with that. -
Yeah but in a couple hundred years when MMos are just a memory, people will look up and see "CoX" on the moon. I'm not sure I want to leave that legacy for my great grand kids...
Though I think it would be kind of funny... -
I'd really like to see the following.
1.) Small headset mics. They already have some in the game on the recon officers in hazard zones.
2.) Back details besides capes. Back packs, scabbards etc.
3.) More holster options for pistols, chest, thighs ,hips etc.
4.) More textured tights. Also tights with piping to give them a more realistic look. (Look at foreshadow for the sort of thing I'm talking about.)
5.) More body armor, sleek and stylish. Think Iron Man or Batman from TDK movie. -
Quote:I'd agree, except they still include free pieces in updates. The extra ones are things we probably wouldn't have gotten for free, they made them because they could justify the time spent on them because they'd get money for them.Free ones.
Seriously, I'm probably waaay late to any kind of outrage party here after my CoH sabbatical, but I still think it's cheesy and lame to be putting things we used to regularly get for free into paid content packs.

edit:
... and still, I buy them. >.< -
Quote:Not the first joke he made about Clown Summoning.Did you really go to all that trouble to make that clown summoning graphic just for a single joke?
Honestly, I think it's obvious that Positron thinks the clown summoning idea is both silly and absurd, and he likes making a punch-line out of it.... By any means necessary. -
I'm jealous I didn't get to go. Sounds like everyone had a great time and honestly, got some great info on the boards already, so that's fantastic. I'm glad everyone had a good time, and it makes me look forward to hero-con that much more.
-
Quote:I tend to agree with this.I think we're going to see City of Vigilantes/Rogues because that allows one's toons to play most of the content of both 'cities'.
I think this will be a boon to Red side, since people who don't like Redside can now experience it in smaller doses if they choose. People moving back and forth more easily will make it more popular, I believe.
Also, I'm hoping that the Ultra Mode graphics, will make redside look a little better in regards to lighting, and hopefully it won't seem so drab and dismal, which honestly makes it less fun to play there. I like blue side zones because they seem so much more colorful and bright. The gray-ness of the red zones seems to run together and make it boring, visually IMO. I'm hoping Ultra mode fixes some of that. -
Lies...
Damned Lies...
And Statistics...
You can have my doom when you pry it from my cold dead doomed fingers.

Seriously though, good post. Though I had a feeling NCSoft wouldn't be putting all this money into this game, and hiring all these people, if the game wasn't showing some signs that it could make some money. If it were losing players right and left, they would not be putting this much money into GR etc.
