  1. Team CoH has raised
    $6,074.33

WOOT!!!!!!! I think it is amazing all these people helping out with their donations and the 40+ people who have pledged to play for 24 hours!

We gotta keep on pushing...have a few days left and at this rate I would not be surprised if we passed the $7,000 mark!

Great job everyone...and thank you to everyone who is supporting this campaign whether it be in donation or in time.
  2. Team CoH is currently ranked #18 out of 2129 teams for the Extra Life Charity campaign with a total of $5,828.33 in donations!!!!!!

Saturday 10/20 will be the 24 hour gaming marathon which means people still have a few days left to sign up to participate or to donate to a team member.

Extra Life 4 Kids raises money for various Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the world. These hospitals treat millions of children every year and the monies raised help offset their costs for treatment for cancer, birth defects, etc.

I am asking you to please be a hero to a child in need. All donations are great donations - there is no such thing as too small of a donation...EVERY dollar raised is one more dollar that can help a child and their family.

  3. Team CoH has raised: $5,706.33

WOOT! Doing great guys. I just want to thank everyone who has donated, who is spreading the word, and all those who will be participating in the Saturday campaign!

Team CoH is currently ranked #18 out of 2119 teams!!!!!!
  4. The current total for Team CoH for Extra Life is:
    $5,357.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are ranked #19 out of 2085 teams!

With just a few days left before the campaign ends I want to encourage people again to either sign up as a participant or to donate.

    EVERY SINGLE DONATION COUNTS!

You can Sign Up to participate or donate at the following link:
    http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?...am&teamID=9445

This is a great organization that helps millions of children every year with medical expenses. I understand a lot of people can't participate, and I understand that money situations vary from person to person. Just imagine what a small donation of even $5 would achieve if every person who read this thread donated that amount.

Be a hero to a child in need!

(Shout out to b0bcatmc who has helped me keep this thread and the Titan thread updated on a regular basis.)
  5. While it's crazy cool. And there is no way I could ever do something like that LOL.. I kinda wish there had been a camera on him showing his free fall instead of the grey blip that was shown.

I say this as a person with a severe fear of heights LOL!
  6. So that would mean only roughly 7.500 people could play at one time.... Not sure IF this ever happened that it would be an issue, but it could be.

If CoH were saved...and not just in a perma state of As/Is... this would not bother me.
  7. Thanks for creating this thread and updating it often Llydia
  8. Team CoH is currently at $4,615.00

With 6 days left to go I am hopeful we can easily break the $5,000 mark. Please spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc.

I think it is an awesome showing of true heroism that this community is banding together to help children/families in need. Remember if you cannot participate that ANY donation is a great donation. I know people who are donating $1 to a few people here and there...and those $1 contributions/pledge add up.
  9. Team CoH is at $4,435!!!! With a week to go I think our goal should be $6,000+ Hoping that those who got paid today will think to themselves "Hmmm since I am not paying for CoH this month..."

Keep up the great work everyone!

(Side note...I got a donation from someone today..no clue who she is, but sent her a short THANK YOU email).... If she is a member of these forums and reads this: THANK YOU!!!!!
  10. Uhmm APOLOGIST

In other words...people who will defend CO over and over...and have no problem telling others that their opinion is wrong because CO is "awesome."

I am not ANTI CO... I just don't like it. I wanted to like it because I have a couple friends who play it now. Kinda like I wanted to like TSW because I have friends who play that, but neither of them interests me in the slightest. I am not a gamer. I am a COHer. CoH is the ONLY MMO I have tried and liked.

Just because CO is a super hero game doesn't elevate it's play-ability for me.

This whole thing with NCSoft has turned me off A LOT form MMOs.... I do not see the point in becoming invested in something when the virtual rug can be pulled in an instant without notice. EVEN if I liked CO remotely...I doubt I would play/sub...simply not worth spending the time in something that will more than likely be gone in a few years.

I'm not going to apologize for that. Nor would I expect anyone who wants to be part of DCUO to apologize for their choice, or you to apologize for the fact that you don't like CO.

Some people drive Fords, others drive Chevys. Doesn't make one better than the other, and I doubt anyone apologizes for their choice.
  11. My last day of playing is going to be 10/20/2012 when I do my 24 game-a-thon for Extra Life.

I may log in and chat some after that and also plan on being there for sunset.

    Emulator.. Nah no thanks.
It was a great run while it lasted, but the only thing that would get me to continue to play CoH in any form would be if it was properly being supported by a dev team and updated.
  12. QFT and because people seem to be ignoring those.

Mod has asked for negativity to stop
We have been told we can discuss other games and that was the only leniency allowed.

I would hope people would be mature enough to respect Hit Streak's request...

    Guess we shall see.

No more religious, political or mega trolling junk, please! Hit Streak seems to be moderating pretty much alone, and he can't keep up with it all.

And is this how we really want to be remembered as a community? A burning ball of flame better snuffed out?

  13. We have raised over $300 in the past 24 hours! That is awesome. Thinking we may be able to actually get $6000+!!!!

Need to get the word out to all heroes to either donate or participate

    Go Team CoH!
  14. Which then begs the question: Why not sell it to recoup some costs and or get some profit????

While revenues may have been slipping...that does not mean CoH was still not producing a profit; albeit obviously not a large enough profit for NCSoft.

BTW I hate the title of this thread. "Murder" is a pretty harsh word for a business decision imo...a bit on the dramatic side.

Compared to what it started out as, and probably, again probably the price NCSoft paid, it may have seemed like there was no turn around by this point for expecting a large increase in revenue to levels even similar to when NCSoft purchased it.
  15. Tried it again...still don't like it. Three strikes you are out.

I get that there are CO apologists on these forums, but it's not for everyone...kinda like CoH wasn't for everyone. I have simply come to the conclusion that there are currently no MMOs out there that bring me half the fun that CoH does.
  16. I can't stress this enough... ALL donations are GREAT! I know some people are thinking "Meh I can't afford $20+" and that's fine... Like b0bcat said... $5 is a great donation. If we got even HALF of the forum goers to donate $5 that would skyrocket our amount.

Currently Team CoH is ranked #22 with $3,943!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a GREAT amount and with 10 days left I am hopeful we can easily pass the $5,000 mark Some of the other teams are starting to pick up some funds and are nipping at our tails....this is why we need every hero who can to donate...anything

Be a hero to a child in need. This campaign supports Extra Life For Kids and hundreds of various Children Miracle Network Hospitals...who provide medical care to Millions of children every year.

If you didn't get a chance to make a Donation for the Dev's Dinner (like I didn't) then consider donating for this.
(The donation page takes credit cards and PayPal)
  17. You could always hook up with some CoH people and play with them/us/me

FPARN (And I said he could hook up with me!)

  18. I am getting excited for my gaming marathon....and kinda dreading it at the same time LOL! 24 hours is gonna be ROUGH but I am doing it for a great charity and it will be one of the last times I get to play with one of my friends.

Still ranked #22... Here is hoping when payday hits Friday we will see an influx of donations. We need some heroes to step up and help these kids!
  19. And I assume that MANY factors of a more personal nature contributed to declining subs. Doesn't really matter WHY subs decreased....CoH was still bringing in profit...just not enough profit for NCSoft... So yes.. NCSoft killed CoH ...nothing else but corporate greed

It's my belief only, and whilst I fully understand and respect that others might not share that belief - it doesn't make me wrong.
  20. OK I am here to debunk that rumor.

I think that rumor you heard is simply someone trying to vilify NCSoft even more. Rumors like that are simply meant to create the "See I told you they were evil they wouldn't even sell for 80 MILLION!!!" I would be totally surprised if they even received an offer for half that.

    WHY WOULD YOU DECLINE THAT?!?!?!!
  21. Problem is you weren't right. MANY factors contributed to a decline in subs.... but only one thing killed CoH - NCSoft. AE went live in April of 2009...So no AE did not KILL CoH. There are MANY factors why sub #'s shrink...why profit shrinks... to try and state that AE was even a minor part of it is laughable at best.

There is more of an argument in stating that Incarnates "Doomed" CoH than AE...and no I do not believe that to be true either. While I would LOVE for CoH to continue it did have a great 8.5 year run...to forget that is to diminish the hard work put in by every dev who has been a part of this game.

Did SOME people dislike AE... I am sure they did. Did SOME people quit over AE...NO ONE will ever know. Sure you can say "Well I played with So and So and they said they quit because of AE (Stupid excuse btw)," But maybe they were too proud to admit financial hardship at the time and AE made a great scapegoat to keep one's pride intact.

People quit games for a multitude of reasons: loss of job, increase in bills, boredom, family issues (deaths/births/marriage), change of career, etc etc... Your little graph does not state WHY people quit when they did...it simply ASSUMES.... and you know what they say about people who assume

And for every person you say quit because of AE... I can just as easily state... I know X amount of people who came to CoH because of AE. The TRUTH is no one will ever know why subs shrink...but you go right ahead and ASSUME it was AE instead of a plethora of other things it could have been

If you think I enjoy being right about that, then think again.......
  22. I don't like CO. It feels like a cheap knock off of CoH. To me it feels like a game that came out before CoH and not 5 years later.

  23. Exactly. As it stands Team CoH is currently ranked #21 with $3,340.00.

I am hoping people will donate soon and get us in the top 10 at least. Personally I have donated $36 and plan on doing at least another $20 more. One donor has donated over $800. This is a great chance for the heroes of CoH to show they are real life heroes by supporting a great cause that helps millions of children every year.

  24. I have always steered clear of them due to their length. Usually my game time was limited to 1-2 hours a day if that. So I am kinda looking forward to doing them after 7.5 years hehehe.

Not sure which server you are on...or when you play, but like I said we will be doing them on 10/20/2012... I have no idea what order we are gonna be doing them in, but please feel free to send me a tell in game @I Burnt The Toast. We will be on Freedom server.
