To quote Aett, save with more emphasis [u]HELL NO![u]
All this will do is lead people to turning off XP at 49 and never taking such a stupid death sentence for their toon.
While the game is about the JOURNEY to 50, actually BEING at 50 can be kinda awesome too. They want to enjoy the fruits of their labors in levelling that toon up.
Moreover, with the invention system, a characters powers won't necessarily stop growing and evolving once they merely hit 50.
Heck, I JUST slotted my Grav/Kin with two Lockdown: Chance for +2 Mag Hold (not in the same power), and received a neat surprise when the Electric Fence animation came up.
And no, I don't want a cool bribe for taking away my toon. There's already enough cool things in the game (and more being added all the time). So this is a valueless proposition.
As for "free month of CoH"? HUH? This would be a massive money-losing proposition, ESPECIALLY the way people can level up in a few days/weeks (prior to the meow removal, this would have been ruinous).
/unsigned -
Most of the ones I've been on prior have been 60-90 minutes.
For me, 39 minutes was pretty freakin' awesome. -
No. As my last post pointed out, it's not the makeup of the team that matters. It's how well the team functions together to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.
"Special Build" teams, merely make things EASIER. But, if you have any of the problems I outlined above, you're STILL likely to be boarding the fail-boat. -
[ QUOTE ]
According to what you just said, without any of those you can't complete this SF.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. What they said was that any of the above items makes the SF trivial to beat.
I've done two RSF so far. The first was Trickshooter's all-Corr team. It was a little rocky at the end, but not a huge deal.
A day later, I did it with the same toon and a PUG. If anything, it went FASTER. No nukes. No shivans.
Things that can make it a female dog:
* People quitting
* People not listening to the team leader
* A leader who doesn't explain things to a group of possible SF virgins.
* People going off and doing their own thing in the middle of a fight (*insert AT*-lock is a Bad Thing). -
I dunno. I look at Synapse and I think of Man O War's cover of "Flight of the Bumblebee"
-
SK'ed my Grav/Kin into an ITF earlier this month. They were going for speed as it was (which was fine, I was at work and the faster we did it, the less likely I was to have gotten interrupted).
We blew through in 39 minutes and change. Fastest I've ever done. -
Does this involve Steve Balmer jumping up and down or throwing chairs?
Oh wait. that's "Developers, Developers, Developers" -
Unfortunately it's not available. It's a texture-modified Croatoa full-zone map.
Found this out during the winter event this year when a PB of mine accidentally spawned outside of the actual game area. Flew around a completely empty, snow-covered Croatoa. -

i'm kinda newby to this game. do they really add all that much content all the time? or do they mostly just fix game errors all the time?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes.
The last three issues have all bought new content. i14 brought the Mission Architect, which is effectively endless content. -
[ QUOTE ]
also xbox live $50/yr these fees add up. 9.99 for psu, 14.99 for wow, 14.99 for coh. thats 50+ a month on games.
[/ QUOTE ]
Simple. Decide which services you can afford to stay on and drop everything else.
No fuss. No muss.
If this means you drop CoH? So be it.

along with about 200 to 300 on groceries/alcohol/restaurants per month,

Maybe cut back on the booze? Or eat a sandwich one night instead of hitting a restaurant?

Ditch the porn...uh...never mind! Carry on!

i buy such as sf4, fightpad controller, defense grid, castle crashers, ssf2thdr and other games, video rentals.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cut back on buying STUFF. Or, as I said before, prioritize what means most to you, and drop anything that doesn't fit into your budget, starting with what matters least.
And no. I'm not rich.
I'm single. Live on my own. Don't drink. Don't smoke. Work my [censored] off (well, I'm trying, there's an AWFUL lot of it there). I catch an occasional movie. Read a lot from an extensive library. Barely watch TV. And I play exactly ONE MMO.
My monthly rent is roughly 3x what you're paying (and you're in friggin' San Diego!). Plus renter's insurance. I'm making mega-payments on a loan to pay off my school loans early.
Your problem isn't that CoH is too expensive. It's that you're living BEYOND YOUR MEANS. You're out of work, or delivering pizzas. NOT conducive to financing an active consumer-social life.
What am I going to do when CO comes out? Simple.
Continue playing CoH. I've seen and played CO. I'm not impressed TYVM. Combined with some CS issues, they will not be getting a monthly fee from me.
CoH has a better community, more content, and as pissed as I get at the devs for some of their ham-handed screw ups, my preference still lies with them, rather than the CO crew. -
Again, your problem is with EXPLOITATIVE behavior, not farming.
-
Correct. I don't want to kill farmers. If they want to farm, so be it. While yes, they may have more ready inf than you do for Market-PvP, they're also putting more into the market too.
The devs have no problem with farming. And have said so.
What the devs have a problem with are utilization of exploits to blow out the earnings curve. -
Again, if someone wants to fight level 54 bosses, that's their own business.
If they're willing to take the risk, over and over again, then who cares? Seriously. It's not as if they're forcing YOU to do this.
I'm going to cut it off right here. Otherwise this is going to just devolve into yet another silly thread-locker. -
[ QUOTE ]
Diminishing returns on MA rewards.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could see this for *repeating* an arc within a 24 hour period. But not for simply doing nothing but MA arcs. -
Here's a solution to farming.
Play your own damn game. Farm if you want to. Don't farm if you don't want to. Stop trying to enforce "a" gaming style on others and stop caring how they play their gam. Because it's none of your business.
/unsigned -
Hold on! I'll get the oxygen.
And I'll be standing by in case you need chest compressions and rescue breathing...
-
The argument isn't "the devs should leave this stuff in" or "the devs should take this stuff out".
The argument is "the devs are being inconsistent" and their "reasoning" comes off as severely disjointed.
Now the devs don't owe us a huge, involved "World Summit" discussion on this. But some clarity would really be nicer than these "RAWR" sound bites. -
[ QUOTE ]
because they encouraged aberrant behavior
[/ QUOTE ]
Like merits causing people to farm task forces? Or only run contact missions until they complete the merit-giving arc(s)?
Or the ticket cap encouraging people to not complete missions?
And if said badges actually "encouraged' this behavior, they've got a lotta 'splainin' to do about how they're going to fix all the older badges that "encouraged" the exact same behavior. -
[ QUOTE ]
My suggestion:
Master of X Task/Strike force, for each and every T/SF, but mix up the challanges required in each case, os they are not all no temps/no defeats.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could definitely get behind this. -
[ QUOTE ]
Have rare recipes only come in increments of five, like normal recipes. Do away with non-multiples of five completely from the auction window.
[/ QUOTE ]
/Unsigned. This would screw up some builds I have where the IOs in the power are all 3 levels above the level at which I got the power (down to Level 30). That way, I have a build that gives best returns when exemped with very low levels of performance degradation. Blocking out in increments of 5 would destroy the ability to construct a build like this.

Add option to set drop thresholds.

This could be subject to massive abuse.

Add an npc_stuck command that runs the /stuck code on spawned NPCs in an instanced mission. If you have to, limit its use to every ten minutes. Or hour. I don't care, but we really need it.

Allow us to gift items in the PlayNC store to other people. They'd make great prizes for contests and will earn you more money. I've also known people quit the game because of financial difficulties that I'd be more than willing to pay a month or two for, but that I don't particularly want to exchange personal information with.

Like I say my brother was on the team, and he told Imp that I DC and it was in the team chat too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Didn't see that. Saw the word "retreat" and it pulled me out of tanker-lock (beating on the tower and watching Imp's stats to make sure he didn't need a breather).
[ QUOTE ]
If you don't know something don't assumed, ask we are here to help.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's after the fact. No harm, no foul. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok so why did you say we left because of a DC then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because that was the impression I was under at the time.
[ QUOTE ]
When I DC I was gone and counted down before the first tower was down(brother was on team that is how I know).
[/ QUOTE ]
And most of us didn't really notice until we were well into the second tower.
We took the third tower down and then fell back, I'd assumed, so we could give you time to reboot and reconnect so we wouldn't complete while you weren't in-mish.
There was more than enough time from when you disconnected to the time the flyer respawned to have knocked out the last tower and LR.
[ QUOTE ]
If you were going to fall back because of the DC you would of after the first tower.
[/ QUOTE ]
It all depends on how fast you were going to reboot and get back in-mish. Again, I wasn't the one who made the call of when to fall back. So I made an assumption as to the reasoning. If it was wrong, so be it. -
Or at least we thought so.
As it turned out, we still had a fair amount of time until it did.
