Quote:Umm, the last time I did an STF or any level 50 TF (I am assuming that this will always be a level 50 tf or sf) it took far more than 60-90 minutes. Some of them can take 4 hours or more. You don't really have to be "uber" or "l337" to spend 60-90 minutes running a TF
See above
Unless you're talking a speed tf and I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a stick. -
I have not been doing it for years but I still agree, you are not alone. However, I seriously doubt that anything we say will change anything. The decision has been made that if we want to participate we need to LEARN2TEAM and spend all of our spare time playing because there is no life outside of CoX.

Quote:(After writing the below I read it and for a moment thought that maybe I shouldn't actually submit it. It really seems a bit trolly even though that was not my intention. It is hard to get the tone of how something is meant when you only have text. But then I read it again and found it amusing. So please take it with a grain of salt. I'm not trying to troll, just to look at things from a different perspective.)
And they said they were done with grindy badges... Obviously, grindy is in the eye of the beholder.
I do believe they removed any illusion of making the game less grindy when they introduced Alignment Merits and gave us the ability to buy purples with them. Even if you use regular reward merits and inf to by a hero merit each day you still need to grind the same 10 tip missions every two days for 10 to 12 days to get the required 30 to 35 to buy that purple, not to mention the grinding of other content that gives the 50 merits per day you need to make the trades. Just think, if you don't play the market that is a mere 60 to 72 days (about 10 weeks) of playing every day and grinding the same 10 missions to get that purple set that really, really you want.
Honestly, it does not make any sense from a marketing standpoint to make anything other than a grindy game. You see, if they make it so that you have to keep playing to get the things you want then you have to keep paying them to play. Because, you know.... None of us would ever keep playing the game because we enjoy doing so... that after all is an unfathomable concept.
You people and you me, me, me. You're looking at this from the wrong side of he fence. -
I think in like "WTF" better than "WST"... just saying

Quote:I'm getting into this late, but wasn't part of this discussion that the incarnate trials cannot be "soloed"? You can do them solo but there still needs to be a group to participate? Or do I have that wrong as well? That's only until I20 comes out - in I20, there'll be Incarnate Trials that will also drop the rare and ultra rare salvage.
-
So, Am I understanding wrong? Is the component "Notice of the Well" only available as a reward for doing the "Strike of the Week".
If so.... so much for the soloability of the end game... -
Quote:I'm at work right now and can't log in to check for myself. Can anyone tell me if this component can be crafted? Or is the only way to get this component to get it as a reward for the Weekly Strike Target?
Rare recipes for the Alpha Slot Rare powers are added using the existing Alpha Component Pool and a new Rare Alpha Component called "Notice of the Well" - which can be acquired as part of the Weekly Strike Target reward for a character who has unlocked their Alpha Slot. -
Quote:This is the main reason the I avoided just going ahead and broadcasting in the channels and why I was looking for input from others. Everyone will know what is being planned. The problem is that I can almost guarantee you that for every one person thinking, "Cool! RV AV badges!" there will be two thinking, "Cool! Easy pickin's for PVP recipes and badges!" Sad but true. You will almost invariably draw more people who don't give one whit about your badges and will actively kill your team over and over, actively preventing you from getting them. And because it's a PVP zone, there's not a damn thing you can do about it except give up and try some other time.
Although, what would happen if I broadcast in those channels but not for a right away type of thing and instead that we would plan a day and time once a full team was formed. Even if we waited a few hours... or some other random time. No reason to run right into the zone once the team is formed. -
Too be honest, I'm not a big fan of PVP. From my experience unless you are a power gamer (which I am not) and willing to invest a lot of time and effort into building a character that can compete in PVP (which also I am not) you really don't have a chance against those that are.
I have spent some time in PVP areas and my main defense is to be constantly alert and to run (I run a lot) and to make sure I pick up some type of phase shifting ability or temp power to help me run.
But there are badges and other things to be gained, like nukes, shivens, etc. that help in other areas of the game. There is also a bit of a thrill going into a PVP area and gaining these things solo, always nervous, checking around every corner, checking your surroundings before trying to rescue a scientist in Warburg or collecting a meteor sample in Bloody Bay or attacking a pillbox in RV. Thrilling and enjoyable until someone takes you out in two hits before you can move.
I don't mind being defeated in PVP except when it is the same character taking you out repeatably. I wonder what they are trying to prove, you already beat me once and it is obvious that I don't stand a chance. Then I have to ask, why don't they go pick on someone bigger and badder? Are they the typical bully and can only attack when they know they can't loose? That's the only thing that really bothers me in PVP.
Anyway, back to the subject. I have managed to spawn some AVs in RV and been defeated by them almost as fast as by the PVPers. It was the fact that there is always 2 or 3 of them together. I tried it with 2 heavies (one from the zone and one Vanguard) and was able to do significant damage with them and the pillbox to a single AV. If it was not for the fact that 2 others where there and beating me senseless I think I could take out a single AV on my own (on my own and with 3 significant pets that is)
Now that the Winter event/2XP madness is over I'll likely be trying to put some teams together for it. But, now that I know they may spawn in PVE zones during the anniversary, I may just hold off for another month or so. I have plenty of other badges to go after in the mean time. -
SG is out, I'm in a small one and no coalitions. And then when I switch sides.... well, I don't want to leave the SG even if I can't get into it.
I'm on all the channels, and I did think about that, but I've never seen anyone looking to make a team for this on any of them. I thought that maybe it wasn't done that way for some odd reason. -
How would one go about putting together a team to hunt AV's in Recluse's Victory? Either heroes to hunt villains or villains to hunt the heroes?
-
I did this the other night. I watched the time and started at 1 minute before daybreak. Was easily able to get him to spawn solo....
Finding him however was another story entirely. I flew around above and around the general area of Thorne Isle for more than an hour using a macro for target_custom_next Caleb. Was about to give up when I actually targeted him, but he was flying so fast that he got out of range and I needed to continue for a while before I targeted him close enough that I could hit "follow" (luckily I had invisibility to use). That's when I got a team together to take him down. ... to be honest, it just started as an experiment to see if I could kill enough ghosts solo to get him to spawn.
So, the most difficult part was definitely finding him. -
Quote:Well, maybe it was 2 hits, but I know I was down before I landed a single hit each time. Went fast enough that it felt like being one hitted. Personally, when I can finally compete, if I ever take out someone that fast I'm not going to attack that character again. To me it just seems rude.and they also removed the ability to one shot someone quite a few issues ago.
Anyway, I read the wiki and it does appear that the missions are all identical in the different pvp zones. So I'm not missing anything in that respect. -
Quote:Well, just want to experience all the content...Why waste your time going there, they are the same missions you can get everywhere else...boring non challenging AI, if you are going to go to a PvP zone then go there and PvP....
That and the fact that I have no characters that can survive a fight in PVP. Been in three and all three times I was one hitted.
If you find one hitting newbs fun, how is that any different than doing the same content over and over again? Personally, getting one hitted is far from an enjoyable experience, and getting one hitted by the same player twice is just annoying. After that experience, enjoyable for me in PVP has become 1) phase shift. 2) letting the other guy try to hit me a few times. 3) run like hell.
I'm only there with one character so far and that is only for the badges and to see if there is any content I have not done yet. maybe some day I will be able to compete, that is not today. -
-
Thought I would check out Bloody Bay. I go talk to Eckman but she won't give any missions. This is the first time I've been there. What's up with that?
-
Hopefully the maintenance means this will soon be fixed? We can hope...
-
Wow!
Maybe my wording was bad and maybe it was taken the wrong way, but really... Maybe I should reword it, or explain, or try to defend myself?
...
Nah... since everyone has assumed that I'm either a troller or a complete imbecile, well.... you can go on believing what you want to believe.
Really, wow! -
Why is that?
It's very simple really.
1) You can now take more attacks and defensive powers sooner. (You know, Those things that use up endurance)
2) You have the same number of enhancements to spread over more powers, reducing the amount of endurance reduction enhancements you can slot. (Well, you know, since it is almost a requirement on all AT's to slot 2 ACC enhancements on every attack if you hope to, you know, like, hit anything at all.)
3) Stamina, slotted with low level enhancements does little to overcome the drain added by #1 and #2
It really evens out at higher levels, but the endurance problem for low level characters has only been exacerbated by inherent fitness.
Now, everyone tell me why I'm wrong. -
Game freezing when opening contacts window has been happening for me ever since Ultra Mode was released. The first time I open contacts for any character during the play session the entire game freezes. Usually things start moving again in a few (10 to 30) seconds, but occasionally the game crashes.
Also, the first contact portrait in the window is always missing, doesn't matter who the contact is. I've bugged this in game... several times... but nothing has ever been done about it except to tell me to come here.... very useful help. -
Yup, site is back, downloaded, but I'm getting a message that the file is corrupt when I try to run it. Any idea how to fix it?
-
badge-hunter.com appears to be down, like the server can't be found.
-
Been trapped there myself. The first time I took a rogue to Atlas I announced "Can someone take me to the Edge of Chaos". Within seconds someone had invited me and TP's me to the badge, then the very nice person quit the team and left me standing there. Took me 20 minutes to find a good Samaritan to get me out again. I'm sure everyone had a good laugh, but it was not fun.

Quote:Currenty, early 20's. I find I am quite busy with healing. What level are you at? I found I was busy at lower levels but once I got to 30-35 ish I had more time on my hands and could start smacking a few people myself.
I'm appreciating the input. And no, my intent was not to start any kind of an argument or anything. Just to get opinions on different ways to play a defender with empathy.
I've seen my primary role so far as that of a healer.
As for Clear mind doubled, I don't necessarily try to keep it that way, but I do like to re-apply it before it starts to blink. I've seen others use the "say ZZZ" method, but to be honest, in the middle of a fight, when things are hectic, I don't look at the chat window as much as I probably should. Especially if the team chat is a constant bubble of comments. (I often wonder how people can do so much typing while they are fighting.... maybe one of the reasons I'm so busy healing???) -
Quote:This has not been my experience with most of the teams I've been on. Most of the time I am too busy healing to do anything else. Could be the teams or the players involved, but, when playing this character it is the type of team I want to be on.
Not taking attacks... of everything you said this is the biggest waste to me. A good running team shouldn't need too much help staying alive
Quote:Every split second counts reaction-wise and any power on auto is potentially a disadvantage.
Ps: you spelt 'loser' wrong, (not that anyone is in-game anyway).

... although, this character actually has two builds and the other is less of a healer. I will switch if it seems appropriate.
looserhmmm, the whole thing takes on a different meaning with that word, doesn't it
