  1. Well, I gotta say the new login screen's nice. And thankfully they've replaced the previous confirmation sound which always seemed to set my teeth on edge with a nice, simple click.

However, looks like I won't be sinking my teeth into i21 until I get back from work later tonight. Thankfully it's a short-ish day!
  2. On the following subjects:

Fighting in the D - I operate on the idea that power suppression works just fine. Teleport doesn't work, powers sputter out at the first signs of animosity and even bullets fall dead to the floor...

However pure animosity directed at one's fellow man in the form you trying to drive your knuckles into their face is not a power, that's a movement in anger. Zero doesn't stop people from walking, running, jumping or dancing in the club.

Therefore, if two people want to beat the stuffing out of one-another, I'm more than happy to either fight back in kind or have my character watch with a relative amount of amusement. Anything BEYOND that however? Take it to the arena before you set the bar alight.

Still, it's a bar and in bars, people kick the stuffing out of one-another. Booze plus Aggression equals Fight.

Not taking level into account - This one is entirely subjective, and is based on my character, their character and whatever powersets might be involved.

Citing the above situation of a brawl: A lot of my characters are entirely human. If someone with super strength, even a humble level 3 or some-such fronts up to my character who is for all intents and purposes human, well, the fight's going to be rather one-sided, no matter HOW much skill said human character might have.

However, if someone who's fresh off the bus in Atlas Park, with no logical reason behind why they should be able to trump my level 50 incarnate character, shy of godmoding tries to pull the "iWin" trick? No dice, buddy. You're eating pavement.

Again, I take more than just this into account. Is your character sporting an injury that might hamper them? Well, that's a factor. Are they staggering-drunk? Also a factor. Did my character just unload the contents of an ashtray into your character's eyes as a low-blow to hamper your vision? Again, another factor.

Fights in general have a staggering amount of variables. I try to keep things fluid...and keep in mind that occasionly LOSING a fight is more compelling than winning all the time.

I have powers that don't exist in-game - Now again, this is entirely subjective. I've seen people take powersets like Energy/Energy and RP it out as water manipulation...and do so with an entirely believable amount of ability...and then again, AI's mention of the whole Peacebringer/Warshade 'Angel/Demon' thing reminds me that this notion can be executed with cringe-worthy levels of failure.

Immunity to Psionics/Stealth Detection -Characters who are blanket-immune to Psionic probing tend to annoy me somewhat. Generally it's a catch-card to stop people from Godmoding information about their characters, however it sorta bugs me. There are perfectly good reasons, like being entirely cybernetic, however all humanoid characters, UNLESS psionic themselves should be subject to some manner of influence or investigation. I have characters who have strong mental defences, but nothing remains unbreakable.

Again, the stealth detection thing stands to reason: Sure, you may have a cloaking device, but that doesn't hinder the stink of your aftershave wafting in the breeze, does it?

Basically, this subject is simply about common courtesy. If in doubt, ASK. Don't go forcing someone into a situation they don't like unless they're cool with it.
  3. Eh, so long as it doesn't happen tomorrow, I'm cool. I mean, giving us Monday at Double XP would be nice, but they've already given us an extra day to begin with. Hopefully this issue gets fixed quickly and without a fuss so people can get back to it.
  4. *Sets up a deckchair in Atlas Park, getting a prime position for all the Broadcast Rage.*

Triumph and Infinity are now back in business.

    6 hours downtime

Well, while I haven't delved into the ENTIRE thread, it's good to see at least that people aren't automatically wailing, gnashing teeth and strutting around wearing "The end is nigh!" sandwitch boards.

Yes, is sucks. I was looking forward to logging in this morning as well and I do wonder what was so mangled that it required an extra quarter of a day to get it working. Still, I can't remember the last really lengthy and totally unexpected downtime. If it's frequency remains at this level? Well, I can hardly find reason to complain TOO much.
  7. It would be a matter of hours after the funeral that two figures would find themselves in the drizzle-soaked cemetery in Boston, the sky respectfully drawing it's sunlight under a veil of grey clouds for the one who had passed from life into the beyond which Man, Alien and extra dimensional alike could only speculate upon.

The first was a tower of a man, dressed in a well-cut black suit, his rich, brown hair clinging to his brow, bisected by a diagonal scar that cleaved it's way cleanly across his face to the opposite side of his jaw. Steely, grey eyes gazing over the architecture of the tomb that lay before him in all it's humbling glory.

The other, a woman of healthy figure with lighter hair and similarly colored eyes watched as the towering gent, his build barely hidden by the cut of his attire, plodded toward the tomb, a small, somewhat battered envelope in his hand with a single name scrawled upon it in logical, no-nonsense handwriting:

    Seri...

The younger woman's brow creases softly with concern for her sibling, The pair of them now the two remaining De'Havaland family members to which life had been both so cruel and kind. With a gaze of encouragement at her brother, Adrian De'Havaland turns back to the tomb, taking a weighty breath and speaking to the woman who had meaned the world to him, the woman who was now in places far fairer than him.

"I...well, you of all people know I was never good with words an' all that...but...Safe t'say: I dunno what took ya from the world, Seri...and it's hard knowin' that there ain't no-one to put in a shallow grave fer this but..."

The stern-faced man, his usually sharp grey eyes now swirling with sadness, swallows a lump in his throat to continue

"Rest assured you're in a place far better than this one...though, I gotta say the skies are never gonna be as bright now...Sun's gonna be just that little bit colder. Still, I.."

Adrian gazes down at the envelope, the name upon it, feeling the weight of it's contents before smiling sadly and continuing,

"There's an old tradition that says y'gotta have a bit of change on ya t'get to where yer goin'. Charon's a cranky, old b*stard apparently. I dunno if you ever shared the same belief but...hey, I figure better safe than sorry, right? I mean, it ain't fair to be destined for the fields of Elysium only t'get screwed out of it on a technicality...."

Again he falls silent, seemingly pouring out what words he can before sadness grips him enough to strangle the voice from his body.

"Just...keep in mind that t'us, you'll always be family, Seri. I know we both changed too much to ever consider goin' back to bein' what we were but....Here, wherever y'happen to be now, doesn't matter. You'll always be welcome in mine and Livvy's eyes."

He glances back to his sister, still watching him with her sympathetic gaze. Clearly she of all people knew how hard this was for her brother. With another sigh, he turns back to the tomb's door, slowly setting the envelope, it containing a single, antique obolus, beside the door of the tomb. It sits in clear view amongst the flowers and other tokens of respect, the name facing toward the door in the hopes that someone emerging would see it.

"I woulda gone with tradition on this one, but I don't think folk at the funeral would've appreciated me crackin' open yer casket to place a coin in yer mouth...So...here's hopin' ya pick it up on the way out, alright?"

With another sigh, he rises to his feet and winces gently, before kissing his fingertips and planting them on the door.

"G'bye Seri...May what lies beyond be worth every ounce of good will you put into this world. God only knows y'deserve the best it can offer..."

With a slow turn, Adrian Graeham De'Havaland, known with hushed secrecy as The Shadowstormm turns from the tomb, plodding through the light rain as he moves to embrace his sibling before the pair of them depart to leave the dead to their rest.

Oh, damn. Seems like a certain Bounty Hunter has some spare time on his hands!
  10. Considering all the positive feedback? I'd hardly consider any of these movies 'shameless self promotion'.

By the way, awesome work on all of 'em!
  11. Hmm...I like this concept, however finding a suitable character from my myriad of alts is going to be tricky....
  12. Always interesting when people do this. I can imagine more than a few heroes would utilize such things to increase their exposure...so why not do it?

I'll be interested to see if anyone else has one of these!
  13. I see the incarnate system as a matter of "Do what the feck you want with it." For example, Shadowstormm will be working pretty-well directly from the Canon story associated with the arc.

However, I by no means intend for him to become a living god. That'd hollow out the character immensely and make him boring to RP. For Shadowstormm, it'll more be a case of him pushing through the boundaries of peak human ability to become something....more. Certainly not a god by any stretch, but something more than human. His shots will hit harder, he'll be hardier and a little stronger, and he'll become more accurate than a lifetime of marksmanship could ever allow.

For other characters? It'd be a tech upgrade or a new set of targeting software, some it will be simply part of the evolution of their mutation.

Either way? I for one certainly won't be making the "Duuur, I'm a god, therefore I win' claim.

    That's just silly.
  14. New content causes a lot of draw toward it. Currently people are running end-game content to see all the new and shiny things to smack around the head. Once things die down, you'll find more teams happening. Until then, either be patient, join in, or be on your merry way.
  15. As another fellow who got married this year, I offer hearty congratulations and well wishings for your marriage. May it be along and prosperous union!

She's also an Australian and was the voice actor for one of the characters in Mass Effect 2. Commence nerdgasm at your discretion.

C'mon, Jack. Gotta keep the new blood on their toes. Can't have them thinkin' savin' people's lives is a cushy gig.
  19. Glad you're enjoying it here on Virtue! I have to admit, I've been prone to a spot of perching in Atlas Park and watching the new characters roll in and each time I do, I'm pleasantly surprised.

There's a lot, and I do mean a LOT of creativity on this server. Draw inspiration from it, and even if you decide not to join in on the madness that is the unofficial RP server? You'll always be in for a good story to read!

"Seriously".. a discussion about boobies in a video game is such a serious issue that it's worth raging about.. If you ask me there needs to be more threads that are just simple goofy fun posts like this to break up the monotony.
I posted a funny picture and the word 'seriously'. You're the one preaching from your high horse...

Who's turning this into Serious Business, again?
  21. I remember you commenting a while back that you had quite the artistic streak! Can't believe I didn't stumble on this before but I have to say I dig the style (the last bit of art struck a chord, but that's not a bad thing).

Keep it up, Cyrsei! You're inspring me, and no doubt many others to pick up a pen/pencil/mechanical pencil-pacer-thingy and get to drawing stuff!
  22. I figure Stormmy could roll up in what he usually wears and make the grade....however I'll be at work when all the fun and games goes down yet again. So, I'll be there in spirit. Someone make sure to have fun for me.
