I have a question, softcap question. I've never done it before so bear with me. Aiming for 45% defense to AOE, Melee and Ranged, with Toggles correct? So, if I have a full set of IO's in Hack that have say 3% Melee defense, will that be added to the softcap? Or is it wasted? I'm guessing that it is a softcap for that reason that it can be added, but I'm not sure. Next, how much can be added, I'm guess there must be a hardcap as well.

45% is the magic number extra on a shield is not bad because without lots of recharge and some Hami's your debuff resistance is ok not great (it is not /sr ressiatnce)
With 3 Hami in active defense slotted out Battle agility and one slot in Grant cover I am running at like 65% debuff resistance. Now if you have the global recharge of around 138% and active defense at the 95% recharge you could perma double stack it with GC and BA you should be around 85-90% debuff resistance
Also to clarify extra defense on /sd is not bad so if you go over some nothing to worry about but at the same time you should not worry about trying to get to 48-50 etc when you be better off seeking more Resistance or HP or regen to stack with your defense -
I am hopping they look at the set and tweak it for brutes even we will see when beta comes around

Nope still there we had twp fire auras stacked plus some assault damage stacks
My shield lacks tough after the last two tf's I going to have to break down so i can tank those darn guys -
No nukes or Shavians used on the towers we did all with scrapper lock

You will be very different but that's not a sacrifice I'd make. For one thing your S/L resists will be terrible (11-12%) and to cover the defense loss from not taking weave you'd probably end up needing either Maneuvers, which is even more of a strain on your endurance, or the pvp 3% defense IO which is hugely expensive on a secondary set that already needs to spend a lot to reach the top levels of performance that it's capable of.

yes I understand all that I taken at 6 AV's with the build I have maneuvers and assault. I currently looking at ways to tweak it to make it a little better I forgot about the enzymes when I built the thing but I think i found away to make it work my overall global recharge will still be 25% but I can boost cremate or incinerate by 20% for that attack by going with a Mako set over TOD and improve the acc of the power I boost my S/l from 12 to 17% range I give up about 60 hp and a little regen not enough to matter

This is one of my older builds that contains aid self. Defense is slightly under softcap for aoe (44.6%). Has enough recharge to run Incinerate -> GFS -> Cremate -> FS. Only uses one purple set so it isn't too expensive either.

Incinerate has amazing DPS and DPE, so I'm not sure how you smoked Marauder faster without it. Might be down to slotting or something.
Can you run the Incinerate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Fire Sword chain? It's a very good one if you can handle the endurance and don't have the recharge for something better, and half your attacks are swords.

Worse DPS than any of the chains we've been discussing, worse EPS than Incinerate -> Scorch -> Cremate -> Scorch.
With your endurance bar never moving using that, you may be able to handle the endurance for Incinerate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Fire Sword (0.32 EPS higher before taking endurance reduction into account). It's like running one more toggle.

I am testing my issue has been global recharge or a lack of enough without losing my softcap and aidself.
I am testing different attack chain builds I took him down faster using gfs in the scorch build the last one was more for fun I knew that do less damage I was just testing a theory if I could damage him enough using nothing but scorch fire sword and cremate.
Endurance has not been the issue I was relooking at my entire chain since I was able to bump my fire sword by recharge a little here recently. I am still still one purple short from another 10% recharge now instead of two and my previous fights with the AV's had a gap due to recharge why I was looking at scorch over incinerate to have a gapless chain I will re-test the chain since I did bump up my fire sword attack a little -

Since best chain doesn't specifically imply highest DPS, I'll suggest Incinerate -> Scorch -> Cremate -> Scorch.
Compared to Incinerate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Fire Sword, it does 6.5% lower DPS, but uses 11% less EPS, which is a reasonable trade off for long fights. Recharge is similar, at +145% vs. +134%. The main advantage, though, is that it only requires three attacks instead of four, freeing up slots and a power choice for other aspects of your build.
Oh, and for fun, compared to Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Scorch:
1% higher DPS
12.5% lower EPS
69% lower recharge required
1 less attack
So it's a win in every way.
To answer the but I thought we just proved that Fire Sword has better DPS reply, it does, and you can indeed swap Scorch for Fire Sword and chain Incinerate -> Fire Sword -> Cremate -> Fire Sword. However, you'll then burn 6.5% more endurance for only 3% more DPS, plus it will take +250% recharge instead of +145% recharge. So I wouldn't recommend it.
Anyway, if it were my build, I'd probably run either Incinerate -> Scorch -> Cremate -> Scorch or the top DPS chain, already mentioned by Norse, Incinerate -> Greater Fire Sword -> Cremate. It would all depend on how much recharge and recovery I was packing into the build.

Well I am just doomed not to be as efficient no way I am giving up Firesword in my build that is my favorite Fire attack along FCS gerr I will just have to be in efficient I do not have quite enough recharge to run GFS >FS >Cremate >Incinerate >FS gapless so I went to scorch on test and did my Marauder fight I smoked him faster than the last time by dumping Incinerate for scorch so out of the attacks I have because no way I give up GFS or FS out of my buildso if I have GFS; FS; Cremate and scorch what is the best chain in that build I will see if I can pull it off I only got to test one chain due to having to work last nigh from 10pm-4am plus travel time

dm/sr is cheap to soft cap with tough weave it is dirt cheap compared to most with some modest invest you can solo av's and DM did get buffs and if you get the money you can do even more once you do get the high end IO's

Personally, it's the higher damage potential of shield defense that won me over. I figure that the best mitigation is a mob that's dead. Also, fire sword circle + shield charge is a mighty sexy AoE combo. I went fire/shield.

It is close but Incarcerate gives a higher dps with enough recharge in the attack chain. According to the forum gurus I can only tell you by feel
I have a gap in my chain I can still solo av's with my shield due to the 40+% in damage buff; but on test I went to Scorch due to the slight gap and my dps went up and I took down Marauder faster than I ever have today so I am going to respec him on live.
So the build can determine that as well -
Also delay taking your damage aura until around 22-24 when you hit SO's you early build will struggle with all the extra agro in a group

Come on what do you expect from pvp anything that is based on people being around you for a buff will always suck in pvp

Depends on what you consider what the best is. Because right now the best AV solo looks to be dm/shield I taken out 6 solo AV's with no temps or insp on a fire/shield
Nothing wrong with Invulnerability but it depends on what you are fighting with the sets -

I myself would love NOTHING more in the entire game to be able to create a energy melee scrapper, and im sure im not the only one.
The other 3 melee sets are able to get this set, and according to numerous spreadsheets such as Billz it wouldnt even be a set that outperforms any other and would provide much happiness to all of the scrapper community
I would like to thank the developers for everything they are giving to us through issue 16, and going rouge, along with everything they have given us in the past, i would just simply like them to atleast consider through all this awesome powerset proliferating giving energy melee to scrappersand if the developers feel it is not a good decision to at the moment, i believe we would all appreciate just a simple explanation as to why

So it looks like only the energy damage is AE - the smashing damage is only to the primary targets. The blaster/dominator attacks probably behave the same way the difference being that they do more smashing than energy - and a quick check of RedTomax shows that a L50 blaster thunderstrike does 142 smashing and only 23 energy, which explains why the AE is so small. The stalker version shows the same split as the brute - 55 smashing/53 energy.

My elec/stoner is 50 but I've been too busy tanking to pay attention to combat logs since I was on steamrolling 8-men teams (elec is not good for soloing). If only half the AoE is applied the power is suckier than FSC indeed. By the way, except for the first target which would receive full damage (81.7 unenhanced at 50), the rest would only get 40.04 nrg damage, making this power not much better than Whirling Hands (except it does KD to the mobs).
That makes elec melee even worse in AoE than I thought before. Maybe it's only worth it for Stalkers and crazy recharge builds which can L. Rod each 15 seconds.

I was dorking with Elec melee trying to figure out a st attack chain I need help but just glancing It looks like the attack will come over with the same recharge etc just on a scrapper damage scale
From what I can Tell Chain of Induction is better in an attack chain then Jacob's Ladder but I am not 100% sure
I was wondering how much DPS could you get from a Charge Brawl Havoc Punch Chain Induction chain how much recharge would be needed -

Those are the main ones that I know of the 2 shield and Sr are the most common other sets can also solo AV's some are harder to build like /da -

We ran a STF yesterday to try a few things on the repairmen and two things that worked well against them were Oppressive Gloom and Burn. Oppressive Gloom was from the Defender Epic pool, but should be functionally identical to the Dark Armor version in this situation. Burn required a bit more positioning/timing, but someone with better slotted burn than I have will be more consistently effective against the repairmen than I was.

I can trade out Regen Tissue for Doctored Wounds seeing as I have yet to enhance. I'd like extra HP, but I did not look at the difference in how much it will heal.
I don't need a Winter's Gift in SJ because I will only be farming with this toon. Why would I farm something that can mess with my rech?
As for the Quills, I like the set bonuses better and Tempered Readiness has damage.
I don't think I need CP. I could only slot one rech in it and I've got Consume/CaBs.

Yea the doctor wounds at lvl 45 will give you around 90+% heal buff and like 80% recharge plus a 5% recharge bonuses compared to your 60% across the board -
Ok I found some other stuff why are you not taking dr wounds you are gimping your healing flames you can still get the 5% recharge and you get max heal and 20% more base recharge than your current IO set and why superspeed over conserve Power

Personally I would pot 5 attacks in quills either sciros or something else quills is one of the big damage over time stacking with Blazing your slows do not benefit enough from the IO's (this is from a spines/da person I did it with all SO's back in the day to)
Also I would but a winter gift unique in super jump healing flames is one of your biggest tools to survive and you have no slow resistance a 20% resistance helps not great but every second counts sometimes

Great scene for sure. Brandon Lee was definately more scrapper like in Rapid Fire, though(just meaning less ranged attacks).
My favorites include: Much of Kung Fu Hustle, both for entertainment value, and some nifty Martial Arts. And most Jackie Chan movies for the same reason, especially Drunken Master, and Rumble in the Bronx(pretty terrible movie, superior fighting).

Absolutely. We talked about it earlier in the year, but the character copy tool was pretty much down for the count at that point, so it never happened.
My thought was that we should all solo pylons instead of ganging up on them. Not even close to optimal, but it kind of flips the bird at the Rikti. Others preferred a more sensible approach of at least splitting up in pairs.
As with other things large team related, I've never done a Rikti raid. Well, not since it was in beta, when I was on a failed one.
