Voicemail from RMT spammers... people who speak english horribly to boot.

They certainly wouldn't try 'active' use of the voice chat... where players can reply live back to them as angry as they want to be... what RMT solicitor would put up with that willfully?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm hoping there are various levels of the new functionality to opt-out of. I don't want voicemail from other players, nor do I want anything going to my phone. I'm perfectly happy to voice chat with my friends and SG mates, but I'm also happy with text. Sending voicemail or messages to my phone would just be intrusive, and that's not what I want out of any video game.

If I really like someone enough to be friends with, they'll get my phone number, but in 4+ years of gaming that's only been 2 people.

Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. You’ll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it.

    Woah. Awesome.

No kidding! That's just amazing! Looking forward to seeing it some time in the future.

It is not reasonable to expect a discout on our monthly fee in exchange for in-game ads, especially if those ads are ottional. If they were to drop subscription prices it would defeat the whole purpose of the ads.

The ads are coming in order to provide "free' income to the game, if they were to off-set that by decreasing the subscritption fee they would most likely be making less money than they were. If they dropped the fee by an amount that would not effect their bottom line, then we would probably see a drop of less that 5 CENTS per subscription.

I really hope this is a joke. This has got to be the worst thing the devs have ever done. Please say it's a joke. Replaceing all the sounds with visual sounds is the worst idea they have ever had.

It was an April Fool's joke.

In case you got this far (or only found this through the Dev Tracker)...

Visual Sounds are NOT going into the game. We are NOT deleting all your sounds off your hard drive. This was NCNorCal's internet prank for April 1st, 2008.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And it was a hysterical prank, Posi. Gotta love you guys.

Wow this is utter crap. I think it's neat to add the visual sounds, but to remove the current sounds completely to make ROOM on our hard drives? Give me a freaking break! If you were making it an option either way that'd be one thing, but FORCING us to do this new stuff... that's just crap. I happen to like the sound of my MA attacks and Fire bombs on my tank. I may just quit the game over this, because your basically gimping the game just for people who have GIMP computers.

Oh god it is april fools isn't it. I feel like a dunse....

    Good one Lighthouse!!
You guys had me until the 'All sounds will be removed" bit.
    Cant believe I been had!

    Happy AFD!

[/ QUOTE ] Ditto, I thought it was going to be optional til I read the removal of sounds bit. Very well done, give those devs an A!

    Really long hair

This would be fun, especially if they ever implement the "hair whip" power so you can beat people up with your lovely locks.

This has been brushed under the rug multiple times, but, since I saw another player complaining on the help channel about need to respec-ing out of the teleport power pool, I'm going to bring it up again.

There are problems with Teleport Self.
    1) They start with the dreaded "red ring of death". There are countless places in the city that you can run, jump, and fly to that you can't teleport to. In the middle of teleporting across town, you don't have much time between teleports and any place that shows up a red ring (showing a place you can't teleport to) could mean your death. This can be seen as easily as trying to teleport from the super group base entrance in Talos to the back door of Wentworths (you won't die traveling between the two, but there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to teleport into the back door Wentworths).
    2) Teleport Self is the only non-toggle travel power.
    3) Teleport Self is the only targeted travel power and range of movement is an issue.
    4) There is little time between teleports and this means that lag can mean your death much easier than with any other power pool. It is very easy to fall out of the air. If you fall into a group of foes, that cold very well mean a trip to the hospital.
    5) Hover is very necessary for the survivability of a teleporter and ease of use. No other travel power pool requires another travel power in order to make the travel pool really usable.
    -
I think this can be at least partially resolved by....
    1) there should be no "red ring of death". You should be able to teleport to anywhere that the cursor lands.
    2) Teleport should be a toggle power. Let it burn more end if necessary. It is already click to move. When Teleport Self is active, it puts you into a "non moving" hover state with the Teleport reticle up until the power is turned off. This way you will not fall out of the air while Teleport is on. You can't move, so it doesn't work as hover (which allows movement and gives a defensive bonus). The teleport reticle is separate from enemy/friend targeting, so other power uses should not be effected while Teleport Self is in use.

In the past when I have started these threads, people have posted "there isn't anything wrong with teleport". That is not what this topic is about, so please refrain from posting that teleport is okay and there is nothing wrong with it.
Do please post problems that you have had with teleport and any suggestions that you may have that can help fix it.

Thanks for taking this into consideration before posting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm in agreement with you about the downfalls to teleport self. It's why I respec'd out of it. Because lag does happen once in a while, lag-induced death is easy with teleport. Any travel power that requires taking a power from another travel pool to work right should be re-examined by the design team.
  11. I have an SG on Guardian that I sort of "inherited"... The Ultra-Fabulous Order of Supers.

The base has functional teleporters, but everyone in the SG is inactive except for me, at least for the last month. It *could* be an RP SG with a name like that, but right now it's on the verge of death if I don't get more active players.

    Any suggestions?

Only thing I am worried about is making flight too fast. Yes, I said it. Do not make flight faster than what it is.

They had a simple concept in the begining with all the movement powers balanced based on speed of movement and the flexibility of the movement.

SS gives you little vert , as it does give you a bonus to your jump height, but gives you a stealth bonus and is great in a mission with tunnels. End cost is little to none.

SJ is a great movement power, but is un-usable in most missions. Has 2 great powers in it (Acrobatics and CJ) and cost little to no end.

TP is the fastest movement power in the game, but has limited short range use. It is also limited in most missions as a form of movement. It does have a high End usage.

Flight is the most useful movement power as it is the most flexible. You can go /anywhere/ with flight. You can use it inside any mission. You can just hit 'r' and walk away and travel a zone. You can attack with it as if you had hover. End cost is moderate to high.

Now people want it even faster? Get serious and think of balance. You make flight faster and you take away the only draw-back to it. Only reason why I think 85% of the game takes TP or SS is for concept or to save power slots after they took Hasten or TP Friend. Now with wings, even more people will be taking flight. I think the Devs need to look at the other movement powers and come up with ways to make them more desirerable to take over flight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would definitely not be in favor of slowing flight down from where it is, since all of my toons fly. I think adding the fly speed enh option to Swift was great for flyers, as was the end reduction to fly. If it doesn't get faster than it is now, I'm OK with that, but don't make it slower.

I would like to repeat the Invisible Graphics Effects complaint. The entire Frostfire mission, all of the ice is invisible. It actually resulted in at least 4 deaths amongst teammates as you couldn't tell what you were stuck on, or why, all of a sudden, you would start sliding into mobs.

I'm familiar enough with the Frostfire mission that I only died once do to the invisible graphics but new players will be in a world of hurt.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ran Frosty last night with 6 noobs who'd never done it before. Both the ice AND fire "decorations" are missing, which I found hysterical, but the noobs avoided death fortunately. Baddies standing on things appeared to be floating in air.

This one makes me happy purely because I keep getting on teams and out-level my own missions. It's just pathetic having Atta when you can't squeeze any exp out of it.
