That is what I thought too, though they did stop and shoot back, and didn't have the normal swirly-head-doodads indicating that my energy hoobajoob did it's loopy-loo magic on em.

Haven't seen it since though, so I may have to suggest it in the right place later... I mean really, it was fun and fair, and didn't leave me with "Mobility Envy".
  3. Thank you one and all for your helpful replys...

Yes, the ATI machine runs smoothly except for the noted Skewing of contact/costume window/ID snapshots. I will Adjust AVG and see if that gives me any play, though it hasn't had a conflict before, it may very well not want to play nice with the game at the moment.

For now, I have a workaround even if it is a bit clunky... If I get booted, I log onto another char for a bit. This usually allows me to go back and log in with the stranded toon. The only flaw is the two timed missions in Talos I failed when I zoned in and got popped back to the login. The only oddity I can see is the lack of any error message after the boot. No matter, I appreciate all the help, and if I actually find the culprit, I will post it here in the off chance this happens to anyone else. Probably just a unique combination of situations creating this anomaly.

Thanks again all! Rough em up!
  4. Yeah, I had a feeling it would not be an easy assessment. Truth is, I can't quite find any other issues mentioned on this board that matches this quite right. I don't get inordinate lag (Unless I Que up a TP power, then I hang for 5-20 seconds.), Chat is fine, I don't get Mapserved, I don't get any error messages when I do get booted to Login, I am not on wireless, I have even began running in windowed mode since I17 hit just to keep my options clear.

The only thing that boggles my mind is the other computer running like a dream. My fiance is laughing at me for giving her the older computer to replace her APTIVA (Windows 3.1)...

"Who has the better computer now?" <~That stings more than her painful costumes.:P
  5. OK, I have been fighting with this since I17 beta, and I haven't quite found the cause of the problem. Usually I can diagnose and repair issues on my own, but this has me pretty beat. If I could call upon our brilliant knowledge experts and tell me what, if anything, I can do...

The problem: For the most part, the game runs fine. However, any time I attempt to log into Talos Island, Cap Au Diable, or St. Martial, the loading bar locks up at about 1/4 and hangs till I wind up being tossed back into the login screen. This is not accompanied by an error message, but attempting to log in gives me the "That account is already logged in." message. Pressing the button again grants me access to the character select window again, but attempting to log the same character gives the same results. I have found that if I log in another character and play with them for a while, I can log out and then access the character in Talos/Cap/St.... Though I do get very slow loading times across the board.

Facts you may want to know: This computer is the main computer in a network with a lesser computer (Pretty much 1/2 of everything that this one has. 1 gig Ram, 256m ATI graphics card {Radeon 9250 no less}, 60 gig memory) and the second computer has had no accessibility or playability issues whatsoever. I have cranked the game way down on graphics in the off chance that was the issue, and even tested my internet de-fragged my sparsely populated drive and ram, triple checked my firewall and network settings, and reinstalled the game.

    Feature, or bug?

So my fiance and I were running through the Rikti War Zone arcs on live with my power armor Inv/EM Power-armor Tanker and her Claws/Regen Protoplasmic Magical-Girl/thing Scrapper, and I noticed something I did not notice before in test or remember having read in a patch note...

So we are in the first mission where you fight Longbow and Vanguard Sword, and I jump over some crates into a couple of Longbow Eagles. While fighting them, I noticed that they seemed to suffer from combat movement reduction on their flight powers! Yes when they attempted to fly away, they only traveled at hover speeds. This took them out of melee range and out of danger, but they didn't fly off at supersonic speeds.

If this is a bug, I may just put a suggestion in the appropriate forum to implement it. But has anyone noticed this behavior before, or knew about this from some obscure note I may have missed? I will test this more when the servers come back up.

  13. But if the future Nemesis hid his identity to prevent there being more than one Nemesis, and The future Nemesis was following Nemesis' plan all along since he was Nemesis, didn't his being there interfere with the aforementioned Nemesis or his plans? Or was that his plan all along?

If we are to assume that Nemesis could travel through time (which he does with regularity along with simple dimension hopping) Couldn't it be concluded that Nemesis is indeed dead even in our time? Dying a simple toymaker in the past, having launched his whole attack and campaign against the world years ago from a small village in total obscurity. His failure already complete or the world would now be his, achieving victory years ago.

Waging a war forward in time is easy though, it prevents the inevitable paradox that could ensue from tampering in the past. Victories could be wiped away, you could change the course of your development in unforeseen ways, you could inadvertently create a champion that could undo your already constructed plans or challenge you directly. Einstein hypothesized that time travel is not achievable by us, as nothing can travel at the speed of light or greater. Ignoring the fact that the same thing was said about the speed of sound, particles have been identified that do indeed travel faster than this theoretical limit. This proves that not only is the speed of light barrier only implied, it opens the door to theoretical time travel as well. That being said, if Nemesis was capable of tapping these energies, he could move his pizza through the temporal steam and ridicule the fiery tentacles radiating from melting bunnies. This can muff a dinosaur to pickle another win in slit...Manager....bumpkin....tree...philosophical. ..

Maybe a clarification then, if I may....

Science origins have to be quantified by their origin of power as opposed to the source of it because of it's deceptive nature. Take the Hulk for example, if he were to be medically examined, he would appear to be a mutant whose cells store gamma radiation and release them in unpredictable ways. Not knowing of the incident that created him, this would categorize him as MUTATION as opposed to SCIENCE.

The difference in mutations and science gone wrong is Mutants have had their D.N.A. since birth, Science origins have had theirs changed by outside factors (To alleviate this very confusion altered-humans{SCIENCE} were re-categorized as INDUCED MUTANTS in the Marvel Super Heroes RPG Ultimate Powers Book, alongside BREED{one or both parents were mutants} and RANDOM{no mutant relative} varieties.)

Or is you wish for authenticity....

  16. A pleasure, as always. If I ever get my animations off the ground, you have a job with me.
  17. I agree with all of the above, but fail to see why this one has been overlooked...

    Ah the "Siege Perilous"... $%@&!

Up until this, I had (U)X-Men #1-260 and began the Run of X-Men in 91 for about 6 issues... then I just wandered off and began to live.

But don't fret for me, I did come back for a short while to pay money for the "Maximum Clonage" Series for spider-Man.

I only buy Comics now if I hear good things, and this comes from a guy that has a lot of comic books... Mostly 70's and 80's. I decided that if I want a good heroic story, I will run my gaming group through one. The benefit of having a solid world that has remained unchanged aside from heroic failures. Miami is gone in my world... Sorry Miami, Casual victim of Ground Zero. The heroes that failed that day will not be forgotten: Mace, Black Radiance, Mystic Militia, Danger Zone, And Wildside. To this day, you can read their names on the memorial plaque erected where Ground Zero melted down along with this quote:

"Though the sand has been fused to glass and shadows burned into the landscaping, They serve as sobering reminders that eternal vigilance is not enough. We must learn to defend ourselves if necessary, but when that fails, we must learn to bear the burden of loss and rise to become stronger. For it is in that strength that we will send a message to those who plot to do harm that it will take more than the loss of a few of us to weaken the rest of us." ~Pres. Ronald Reagan Sept. 29th, 1988

I prefer a universe where the twists come from missing information, unknown variables, Shadowy Figures, or straight up trickery. I bear butterfly effect penalties for time travelers, and always reference my story bibles (Vol 1-46) to insure that nothing relevant will be affected, and when it will be, I show it. I never understood why people needed to radically wreck a perfectly functioning storyline like Mechagodzilla in a toiletpaper factory, but I always followed the tangent that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. and it has made for a great universe to go to, because mine is the same as it always has been, the only thing that changes is the featured players.

    My top 5:

    Crisis on Infinite Earths
    Siege Perilous
    Crisis on Infinite EarthsII
    Maximum Clonage
Wolverine (Just anything to do with his past is suspect now. Or maybe that is always the way they wanted it to be.)

  20. My guess is WAI. I like the look on it. It makes it seem like a really sick villain tailor, and adds the creepy surreal feeling when you have to take it on. Don't repair the face, The Facemaker likes it that way!

I do remember the bug, and it was fairly widespread. This is localized and a bit spot on to be a coincidence. The faces don't look so much distorted, as intentionally placed...

We can walk now, why does it matter if the Facemaker can look however it wants?

For the same reason that you can find more Hyundai vehicles on the road than Mercedes.

Its a matter of refinement and taste coupled with a love for things that work as they should.
  22. Notice it is only us Pisces that take exception to your list (Fictional to be sure, but your research of keywords snared the essence of each sign even if it weren't intentional). Well, I won't play that game. Pisces are some of the most diverse individuals in the pantheon, and as such, there is little on these lists that does not apply to us at one point or another no matter the sign. Regardless of the protests (which stem directly from the fact that we are Pisces, and hate to have our personalities displayed lest they enfeeble the mystique we like to pretend we have.) You did in fact staple the moose right in the sack with this. There will be plenty of Pisces that will disagree with me, but to be frank, we tend to draw on all other signs for our own though we do all tend towards the same bent. We just happen to be the quirkiest lot about there, so you never truly know what to get from each chocolate-coated fish... We could be Herring, we could be Halibut, we could be Red Snapper, we could be Mahi Mahi, but one undeniable fact is this...

We are fish. Deal with it. That smell is us, but you will never know for sure. We are slippery, elusive, and will intentionally do just the opposite of what is expected of us for the sole (<~ like that?) pleasure of watching peoples brains break.

    See?

Astrology isn't hard... It is just guesswork wrapped up in pretty words.
  23. You may find it to be a bit generic.
