Again: Exactly what I proposed (although I used the Patron badge example, but it's the same as the MacComber scenario). IMO, this is THE best solution to people's complaints on the thematic/collecting conflict this new Day Job system introduces.
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually got the idea from you. The big difference between what I propose and you do is that you can have more than one badge at a time.
Say using your system I set my character up to get the doctor badge. I spend my time, get my badge and my boost. Now, I really want to get extra inf on mission completion. I log my character out at city hall and my doctor badge goes away. I can either have the boost I want or the badge I want but not both at the same time.
With multiple badges you can seperate the RP aspect from the game mechanic aspect. -
I wonder if it is possible to set the badges up like a cross between x times the victor and the patron badges.
After, say, 5 or 10 days offline you get the badge with the wording "You've earned the right to be called (job title). Continue with this day job and you will earn a new skill."
After 30 days offline that badge has its artwork replaced with the current artwork. This would technically be the same badge and only the user would know the difference.
This will allow the badgers to get the shiney, allow RPers to get the title and let the accolades remain at a decent level without getting too overpowered.
Edit to give my opinion on the feature itself.
I kinda like getting a nifty little gift for the time I spend sleeping and at work. I'm glad the accolades and benifits are not mutually exclusive, would kinda suck to be stuck with a power or boost that I thought I would like/need but after getting it something else looks better.
On the double XP thing, I'm not sure how to feel. After the xp smoothing plus the bump I'm not sure the game really needs this. However, making it easier to get to the mid and high levels allows the devs to spend more time on end game content without putting it completly out of reach for the weekend/casual/altaholic player.
Of course, I'll make use of the double XP if they want to give it to me. -

B) Who would win in a fight, Blue Steel or God? Consider your answer carefully.

Hey, this isn't Ask a Dev Trick Questions. -
I had a friend leave the CoX universe because he felt that he didn't have any chances to make RP choices with the missions. Now that you have the ability to check origins and give multiple answers to the contacts are there any plans to;
A) Use branching story arcs, with player choice, origin, and/or failure on previous missions affecting the outcome of the arc?
B) Use the tech from the PvP zones to have a CoOp PVE zone go through updates like Recluse's Victory based on player choice and/or failure on missions? -

I want a '57 Chevy. GM decided they wanted to limit the availablility of '57 Chevies by stopping production. I now have to decide if my desire for a '57 Chevy can overcome the financial burden of obtaining one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except Chevy decides to give a chance to win a '57 Chevy for free to anyone throwing a birthday party. As long as they are under 50. And all the parties are held around the same day. So.. if you are 50+ you have to buy the car. If you decide to attend someone elses party this year you lose out on a chance to win one.
That is the problem with pool B.
It is not just a 50 problem but anyone who likes being on large fast moving teams. Or anyone that just likes being support. Just because it isn't your play style doesn't mean it isn't viable. And as long as it is a viable playstyle then it shouldn't be punished. -

I got bored and broke out Excel so.. lets look at some numbers in PvP zones.
The basic math for this is as follows:
Damage Divisor = # of pets + 2 (MM gets 2 "shares")
MM Damage taken = (Dam/Div)*2
Pet Damage taken = (Dam/Div) + AoE damage
I gathered HP # on all pets in the PvP zones on my lvl 40 Bot/trap MM. The hit points on the other primaries my be different (never checked).
So.. lets look at some worst case scenarios. By that I mean no heals, no misses etc.
We will look at single target damage first. In this case, all pets will outlive the MM in bodygaurd mode.
Single target 1 pet bodygaurd
Bloody Bay = 660.3 pts
Sirens Call = 820.2 pts
Warburg = 1048.5 pts
Single target 2 pets
Bloody Bay = 880.4 pts
Sirens Call = 1093.6
Warburg = 1397.4
Single target all pets (5 in BB, 6 in others)
Bloody Bay = 1540.7
Sirens Call = 2187.2
Warburg = 2794.8
Question for everyone: Can an MM be one shot now?
On to AoE damage. Note this assumes all shots hit all pets with no chance to heal in between. It also does not take into account any resistance the pets may have. Also note, the MM will outlive the pets in this case.
AoE has a lot of permutations I could go through (but won't). I am only going to post how much damage it takes to drop all bots with all in BG mode.
BB takes 2 AoE shots to drop pets
First shot of 249.38 will drop T1s
Second shot of 92 will drop T2
MM will have 322.95 hp left
SC takes 3 AoE shots to drop all pets
First shot of 324.44 will drop T1
Second shot of 116.67 will drop T2
Third shot of 112.5 will drop T3
MM will have 344.02 HPs left
WB takes 3 AoE shots to drop all pets
First shot of 426.67 will drop T1
Second shot of 145.83 will drop T2
Third shot of 138.75 will drop T3
MM will have 441.20 hp left -
Wonder if they are listed in the order that you can get them. Assuming that they are, Cors, doms and MMs can get shields earlier than heroes except in Makos list. In that one doms and MMs have the shields as a tier 3 power. Odd.

How about this:
-You can only earn XP from missions and the mobs inside.
-Street mobs earn double Influence, but no XP.
-If you have debt street mobs will reduce it by the normal amount.
This will allow players to get that extra INF for Enhancements or that costume change without outleveling content. This will allow players a quick way to clear debt without slogging through a mission at 1/2 XP.
Yes this means the only way to gain XP will to do missions. Which is the only thing that really makes sense. What kind of "learning" or "experience" does someone gain when fighting the same mobs over and over. Missions show progress of a character through the story.
Unfortunatly the zones are not laid out to facilitate this. Seriously DEVs, you create giant zones like IP or hazard zones like Parez and stuff them full of easy to kill mobs. Then you wonder why people street hunt???
[/ QUOTE ]
If they want people to do missions then why don't they just get rid of mobs on the streets?
Why? Because some people like hunting large groups of mobs.
I like wading into large groups and taking them out, one at a time or all at once with an AoE. If they nerfed my toons to oblivion I would find a large group of lower lvls and do it them. Should I be punished for doing something I think is fun.
To me it is not as much about the xp in that situation but about the power of it. I do missions alot with some of my alts (done all the Hollows missions and halfway through Striga) but missions to me get boring. They are repetitive and, worst of all, don't have enough minions in them.
I want to wade through minions. That is what they are made for. Crunch all you want, they'll make more.
Anyways, ramble.
In short:
a) reward for doing missions and don't punish for street hunting because some of us find that fun.
b) er.. can't think of one
