Agreed. I'd even like to see the "Male" to "Huge" conversion option open up.
[i]EDIT: Oh Jeebus... just realized that this sounds like something I might find in an email in my bulk/spam folder... sigh. Ah well, might as well leave it for y'all's amusement... -

Why Subdue and Psy Scream are in the secondary?
Because:
The first two attacks of the primary have to fit the 1 second, 1.67 seconds rule of the other primaries. Therefore Psy Blast for Blasters will not have Subdue, and the first two attacks will be Psi Dart and Mental Blast.
I imagine Psychic Scream is being traded out for Aim. Maybe they'll make it kinda short range since it's in a secondary?

Hehehehe!
Took a few seconds for me to realize it was an April Fools joke. My initial thought was "Great, they're going towards the super-cartoony-look that CO has." Actually figured it out before I even finished the 1st paragraph. I glanced down, saw "FREEM" and went "that's to dumb to be rea.... oh, duh!"
However, I've been texting a few of my SG members and at least one of them thought it was real so far... -

LOTS of costume options, especially mask/face/detail options (trench coats too) have this bug. I've tried reporting it and got absolutely nowhere despite pages of detailed explanations with the customer service team. They eventually gave me a free costume tokenwhich of course did not, in any way, address the issue. Frustrated, after days and days of trying, I gave up on this.
To me, it's probably the single most annoying bug in the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just for the record: If it's a bug report, you'll be lucky to get anything at all aside from pre-generated form e-mails. If you got a costume token out of this, then lucky you. The bug still won't be fixed any faster than what the QA team and dev team deem appropriate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Started with a generic email response, but I wouldn't let it slide by on just that. I went through incredible lengths to test the problem, showing that it was specific to the SG colors and to show that the actual option to fix the coloration problems (in this specific case on the mask detail) did not exist in the SG color editor. I described everything I tested in what ended up being almost a page of (in my opinion) well detailed, organized material.
Somewhere in there, I had a 1 line mention that in one of my many unsuccessful attempts to fix the issue, I'd burned a token at the tailor. Customer service latched onto to that and said "hey if we give him back that token, everything will be ok... right? RIGHT?!?"
Sigh.
After thanking them for the token (hey it was a nice, if misguided "token" gesture), I once again tried to explain that this really didn't do anything to fix the problem. The response I got clearly indicated that they hadn't even read the email.
Since I was already bleeding and concussed from the repeated banging of my head against my desk, I gave up and explained to my SG members that, unfortunately this toon would not be able to run in SG mode.
Given that we're a small-to-med-sized SG, I hate doing that, but the color-change completely breaks the costume/concept, so I have no choice. Still irritates the [WARNING: EXPLICIT LYRICS] out of me. -

Please use this thread to discuss the following announcement.
Issue 12: Midnight Hour, the next free expansion for City of Heroes includes a number of refinements for the game. Among those improvements is a streamlined Character Creator including additional power information and easy costume selection.

Does this by any chance include a fix to the wing colors + super group mode bug?

The kilts also have this bug

Back on topic, the costume organizer is nice, though as an obsessed mix-&-matcher, I'll prob never use it (and I'm afraid it will lead to less costume diversity). The powers detail button is very nice, especially the slider for level adjustment. -

Overreaction?
Ex, its quite apparent that the Devs did not consider PvP at all when the powerset Proliferation came out.
Forgive us for pointing out the obvious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, the reasoning and thought process into power-set proliferation was clearly stated in a post by BaBs this weekend. Part of that thought process is why you're not seeing EM scrappers btw. The eventual goal is to have almost all powers be available to all applicable ATs.
And yes, expecting an action on a list put out less than 2 months ago is complete overreaction. -
While I understand the changes, and the thinking behind making them, I'm not sure they are entirely a good thing. While I did loathe the Hollows for a while, they made me a better player. I learned how to navigate without drawing aggro (this is well before the days of temp travel powers). I learned to be on the constant lookout for other (and new) spawns while fighting, so as not to aggro a 2nd group. I learned a lot of little nuances of pulling. I had to learn, or I died.
There is a part of me that thinks everyone needs to learn the lessons of the Hollows. But with temp-travel powers some of those lessons are probably going unlearned anyways. And that other part of me understands trying to make the Hollows more enjoyable.
Both parts of me love the new hospital in the zone. Running back from Atlas sucked. -

You bet. You can even do boxes and L-shapes (when you push them to the edge of the screen).

Actually the FAQs state that 'activity' has absolutely nothing to do with it. And that is pointed out several times. It's from when the account was created - nothing more, nothing less.
[/ QUOTE ]
This makes no sense. It's not just about when your account was created, it's about how many months you have been subscribed. If I created an account way back when the game first came out, but I canceled my account 2 months in, and I restarted my account right now, I would not have even ONE Vets Reward, because I only have accrued 2 months time.
What the FAQ refers to as 'activity' is actual playing. What the poster above means when he says 'keep my account active' is that he will continue to pay for it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Vet rewards are calculated by paid time, counting "free" months (from boxed sets etc) as paid time, but not counting for paid time that hasn't occurred yet (so if you just paid for 3 months this month that only counts as 1 mo today, another next mo and yet another 2 mo from now.
However, there is a bug that introduces an unknown variable into this equation, with some people getting the rewards early (in some cases over a month) and some getting them late. The devs have not been able to get this bug fixed and so details on vet rewards often come out before any official notice.
Hope that clears everything up. -
Great post BaBs.
I understand why PC is such a nightmare (had a good idea before, but this helped clarify). However, I have to think that getting PC into the game before Champs goes live should be a major focus. I would suspect that you will loose a significant amount of players if Champs has it well-implemented and CoH does not.
I would suggest getting a dedicated team of new hires and a few old ones who's only/main task is to quietly work on PC in the background (be it through the process you describe or via a completely new/overhauled game-engine). That way, the bulk of the current staff can continue to deliver the great content you've been putting out (especially in the last year) and you can drop this feature like an atom bomb on your players and the competition when it's ready to go.
Of course that's easy for me to say... -

Okay, so out of 8 pets, why are there only 2 different buffs?
[/ QUOTE ]
Originally, there were 2 pets: The Faeries. Then someone (may even have been me, I don't remember) brought up the fact that Faeries won't match everyones concepts and so, the Wisps were born. Then, someone suggested the Drones for Tech types and at the last minute the Oscillators were tossed in. All told, a more classic example of Feature Creep you will never find!
So, since there were only two pets originally, there were only 2 powers made. I didn't have time to make 6 more powers to match the new entities.
As for why they are so fragile, let's just say if they were at all "tough" I could exploit them horrendously. So, they are fragile. They CAN be kept alive if you are a ranged AT, but melee types will have a hard time of it.

So I go off to the little gurls room, and when I returned back to my office someone had hijacked my chair.
I know I'm not crazy, or at least not entirely so, but this was really weird.

I had a conversation with a long time vet, wednesday morning about the wedding edition. They new nothing about didn't get an email either. So its not just me.

The issue is not client-side. There is something wrong with your bulk email distribution. Have your people check it and don't just assume that the problem is our fault.

My dear, esteemed Mr. Liquid Horatio X,
Due to the unfortunate "soda on my keyboard" incident which immediately followed the reading of your above-quoted post, I will require you to forfeit any Positron-funded keyboard to myself. Surely such an awesome and cool individual such as yourself can see that this is only fair and equitable given the precedent that you have already established.
I await your contact to facilitate the transfer of ownership of said keyboard with baited breath.
Sincerely,

I've been a fan of your work since I first saw that Champions adventure supplement you wrote, The Zodiac Conspiracy. The color inserts of all the characters was what really put that over the top.. and for what it's worth, I loved the characters and concepts [like villians who weren't actually EVIL, and could be interacted with in Roleplaying scenarios as well, they were more like rivals] that I still use most of those characters today.. and I still have the adventure, still with the color art insert.

I *knew* there was a reason his name rang a bell! I loved that book. I used it as the basis of the last Champions campaign I ran (which was some years ago, sadly.)
Love the poster, too, btw. The White Hooded figure in the top middle looks an awful lot like a character I played back in Beta

Ironically, it looks a lot like my main, Hallowed Shade, too (minus the sunglasses, with some additional facial and chest detail and with the secondary color changed from green to black). -

Oh, and ... how's the anemic game library coming?
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT. That's the main reason I haven't gone out to get one yet. That and I'm sitting out the HD-format war until there is a victor [as a side note to that, it really ticks me off that the dual-format players and discs are either not being properly supported, or being downright intentionally squashed]. The PS3 has no (exclusive) game (or even a collection of 2-3 games) that make owning it a priority. On the other hand, the 360 has Mass Effect, which is of "buy-the-console-just-for-this-game" quality.
But... that's largely off-topic.
I would love to see CoH spin-off games for consoles (and PCs). How fun would a fighter be where you got to use the character-creator?!? Also, having CoH made available to console players, so long as there are no resulting changes to the existing game, is purely a good thing. It means there is more money coming into the game we love, which translates into more stuff for us down the road. -

Ok... that's made me LOL twice now.
I'd love the idea of a sub-account that was tied to a main account and got the main's vet rewards. I probably have no personal use for it (the wifey is depressingly non-gamer), but I think you would see a net gain in subscribers and make some of the long-time vets very happy.
Now what I would love personally, is some kind of option(s) for more slots on a server...
