Besides... repel is one of the most fun powers in the game, and can be unbelievably useful when used intelligently in the right situations.

You're operating on the assumption that there is gonna be a CoX2. There are many reason not to go that route and to "simply" update the existing game, not the least of which is that every sequel MMO (that I can think of) has been a failure, especially when compared to its predecessor.

I loved that. It was one of the most fun times I had as a hero... and I would enjoy it as a villain too. After all nobody likes Nazis and if they scuff the boots or so much as wrinkle the clothing of my villains... or even just look at them funny... that's all the excuse they'd need for some good, old-fashioned Nazi-stompin' time.

To an extent, you're potentially right.

However, I have this particular expectation because it really is the one card they can play that has the greatest chance to ensure this game's long-term survival.

All the upcoming direct competitors will have more advanced engines that allow for things like (most importantly) power-customization. It's practically the battle-cry of New Jack Inc's product, in addition to one of the most universally desired features here.

Despite the occasional facepalm-inducing decisions made by our dev team, I have to belive that they are aware of that, and are taking measures to address it. The paid expansion is the most logical place for implementation of this overhaul.

If the devs don't realize this, then the game we love is in big, big trouble...

And frankly, if the sneak-peak hadn't hinted at more, I probably would not be this disappointed... maybe.

I hope the new SF/TF are something spectacular, because otherwise, there is not enough new stuff to keep me motivated to log in until GR comes out... and I'll have to find another game to supplement my waning CoX playtime.

Now GR, once it comes out (which I'm guesstimating at Oct/Nov), should fix that, if we get the engine overhaul I'm expecting.

This is very much how I feel about the majority of their interviews. Especially when Jack speaks. It got so bad a while back, that I was seriously contemplating putting up a "Jack please stop talking. You're making me not want to buy your game more and more every time you open your mouth" post over there.

Right now, I have more worries than positive expectations. That may change as/if/when I get more exposure to the actual game itself.

Are you positive that the players you've been trying to buff don't already have some form of fortune-buff on them? It can occasionally be hard to spot those icons (I really wish they were all a uniform and distinct color).

If there is any fortune buff on a character, no other fortune buff will work until the prior one runs out (20min). Note also, that casting a fortune on someone will not refresh their buff if it's about to run out. You have to wait for the buff to expire before you can recast it with any effect (other than the card-throwing animation).

I've been on fortune cross-buffing teams (stop snickering!) quite a bit since the pack launched, and never had there not be a buff effect (though several times people thought they didn't get one, because they had a hard time spotting the buff icon.

This... bothers me.

I've never met you, in person, not in game, yet... this bothers me.

It's (seemingly) not a situation similar to LH (the Bert to your Ernie) leaving, yet... this bothers me.

I, honestly, can't say that I've been bothered by anyone else leaving. Sure, I've missed the occasional headbutting I had with LH, and wondered what would happen when Cuppa left, but this... is different.

There is a part of me that simply associates you with this game on as fundamentally essential a level as (in no particular oirder) Posi, Castle, BaBs & the Sexy One. And now, that part of the game, that I've come to value so highly... is leaving.

On a completely selfish note, I'm glad you're still heading to Hero Con (now as a member of the unwashed masses), since not being able to attend last year, I'll still get a chance to meet you and hopefully kick back a drink with you.

On a more sensitive note, I hope that whatever you're heading into works out for you beyond your expectations. I won't say good bye, instead I'll say
