And even then you have to consider player skill and powerset. Controllers have the advantage of debuffs/buffs to add in their combat. Doms can lock it down and deal the damage w/o much help. Subpar damage when compared to ATs that have direct damage as their primary. However all doms have ranged and melee attacks which can be an advantage. The road to perma dom is hell, takes planning and a lot of grinding. But the results a far better then the results of IOing my controllers.
  2. GR won't change how powerful Doms and more so for those perma'd. I will echo that many blueside only players don't value Doms very much. It seems they're stereotyped to have some controls with some weak melee/ranged attacks. Some players are shocked when I explain that my ST hold can hit for 10 mags of hold in one shot. (Domination + 2 Hold Procs).

No doubt when GR releases Doms will be brought into new light as players try them all over. As others mentioned redside was designed to counter how powerful dom controls can become. Blueside is gonna get dominated.
  3. When you're "hidden from everything" it pretty much means every channel possible. Blocks you from getting invites as well. The only way to be seen online is for someone physically see your character walking around. Which is difficult considering nobody is looking for you if they don't think you're there.
  4. Ty for replies, I ran the other stuff suggested and they found nothing. I backed up my info onto an external and made a new profile. The new profile doesn't seem to be having this issue. So gonna double check to make sure I got everything and delete this profile.
  5. Recently my cpu has gone into crazy mode, hitting 100% while running on the lowest settings. I noticed it was the csrss.exe and did some research (tried ending it at first, not a good idea BSOD :/ )

Some sites say its a virus, some say its a corrupted user profile. Not sure what to do, Adware, Malwarebytes, Iolo, and Kaspersky have all come up empty. Will post hijack/helper if needed, don't want to flood the thread if its not needed.

    The BEST Brute

I have several brutes at 50 and enjoy the SMASH in general, they all play differently as they were intended. My elec/wp and dm/stone can hold their own when tanking is needed. My stone/nrg, em/sr, ss/wp and dm/fire are just a thrill on teams and can bring serious dps. My ss/fire was made to farm and he's absolutely great at his job.

Numbers can say lots of things, yea tanks can take it, scraps can deal it. But Brutes are like bazookas, just point us in the general direction. We get it smashed and team keeps rolling. We don't wanna be tanks or scrappers, we've defined smash to an art.

    Sonic/Traps

Sonic/Traps was my first corr at 50 and was slow at first. It got easier once I got most of the toys from traps. I had him when we still had the uber mini nukes via IOs on PGT. It's a great combo and helpful on teams, -res, triage, FFG. Can't really go wrong with the combo, the only thing I would see as a "flaw" is the rooting hurts.

To be fair I haven't played this corr for well over a year, the mini nuke changed the combo too much for me. Lucky enough you wont see the difference, much like I made my Energy Melee brute long after the change and I don't feel the change. It was a lot of fun for me and been considering overhauling him recently. Good luck

Learned and knew are two different things, truthfully I was surprised at the level of passion some felt about players w/o SB. It's never bothered me when kins on my team didn't have it. I play on Infinity, we're not really picky as long are people trying. I don't play on other servers, so I can't judge them.

So in the end, try to represent everything in black and white, act like you're a victim, have fun making it sound like everyone who's pro-SB is a brainless elitist. It doesn't really matter, because nobody's buying any of it ; and, yes, doing the above makes you the textbook definition of a troll.
Nobodies a victim, I simply voiced what I learned from the thread. No where did I state people who are pro-SB are brainless. You simply gathered all of extra stuff from your own assumptions. Now who is the troll?

Bottom line, if you're a kin w/o speedboost expect the following.

    1) Kicked from team because of the lack of one power out of a great set.
    2) Being called selfish for not having a team buff ( o.O personally I think people are selfish to expect it)
    3) Also being called any if not all of the following, n00b, horrible player, can't build a toon, etc.

That being said, all team buffs are great help and help push the team further. However a good buff doesn't make a good player. I honestly feel if the sb-less Kin on the team is pulling their weight, why reprimand him/her? I don't see any of my controllers/doms scolded for being petless, even though pets provide damage. I don't see my fire tank being kicked for not having taunt, his aura keeps aggro just fine. I don't see my toons who haven't taken the rez from their set kicked. So in the end, call me a troll, neg rep me more (not a big deal, been disabled since the beginning). It doesn't really matter in the end, because it's only a game.

Just remember that the first green is always the hardest to defeat since the other greens are healing it. It is at this point where you need the most buffs/damage/pets to be working.

As you defeat more greens it becomes a little easier, unless your buffs and pets wear out before you can overcome all the greens.
TFs shouldn't require you to have all those buffs/pets in order to finish anything.

In fact, even the not-speed-runs on the ITF tend to go too quick for me, I miss the days of fighting up Lag Valley, and taking over the computer terminals so the pop-up turrets fight on your side :[ Also, I would guess that most people don't do speed-runs for the "fun" factor, they do it for the "more reward for time spent" factor. Which may be a part of their fun, but if I had to put money on it I'd say that IF the reward wasn't based on time spent, and IF running the TF faster meant a reduced reward over spending [some standard time] on it, many of the speed runs would stop. But again, that's still exploitable. I don't know what the fix is, but I know nothing will make everyone happy. *shrug*
Speed TFs are fun for some and not for others, which is fine, no arguments there. I like speed runs because they challenge you beyond the norm of the game. Spiking Cyst solo is no easy feat for most builds for example. The "fix" made the LGTF harder for everyone, not just speed teams. The LGTF is no longer a TF where any AT works, you *MUST* have enough control to reach 50 mags of hold. Or as stated earlier a load of temps.

Yea that would be nice since most teams cannot hit anywhere close to 50 mags of hold. This change burned this TF for many people. I ask how it worked in design to give mitos this much hold protection? Most AVs don't have regen auras like mitos do and they are easier to hold. My Doms can perma hold nearly everything in the game and these mitos give him them a hard time.

Support is telling us, its working as intended and screwing people out of the merits they deserve. I personally love this TF, but if changes are not put through, I already have the badge on my main badger. I will simply avoid this TF.

My question was their stance on the power, my replies did not question their stance. My replies informed them that I'm aware of the benefits. My intentions were not hostile, but in a text environment thats difficult to perceive.

Selfish? Maybe, more so I asked how many people would it piss off if I didn't have the power. Seems like it would piss off a lot people in the end, which shows which end is more selfish.

    Interesting.
No, I expect the devs to remove the need to grind to get perma

Seriously though, its not the same, I've never kicked or seen a dom kicked for not being perma. Grinding and building for perma is a personal choice. Would I prefer it? Yes. Do I expect it? No. It's their toon, I don't pay their fees. I don't see it as the same because one is a team buff thats annoying to upkeep and obviously upsets people when they don't have it.

Fact is, most people at 50, heavily IOed or not, endurance issues or not, benefit greatly from SB, but you're too thick to understand we're just trying to give our points of view, but since you think 'everybody needs to be IO'ed out', why bother asking?

Not that it matters, but my dom is perma since i11, she wasn't at the time of that particular ITF (AGAIN, IT WAS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW SB HELPED AN ITF GO SMOOTHER, DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW?).

Jeez, people try to help, nobody flamed you for asking about the utility of SB, and you reply with arrogance (not only to me).

    Way to go dude!
I don't think I'm uber or "l33t", far from it. If I felt that way, I wouldn't of even asked the question.

I was never angry at anyone, your example showed an example on the use of the power. I simply replied what I think about Doms who don't attempt to perma. I know more then a few doms who refuse to even try to perma. In turn, I agree, I'm extremely "thick" as you stated when it comes to perma dom. I feel the same about petless MMs.

As I stated previously its still in my current build, w/ macros included. I'll see how big teams go and maybe learn to adapt. I just don't understand why people get all upset about people "having" to have the power. Kinetics brings so much more to the team other than speed boost. I've personally never kicked a kin w/o SB myself. Its clear this is a touchy subject.

For Kinetics, it is every 1 1/2 mins or so (2 mins for SB minus the time it takes to buff cycle). It can get tedious, yes.

However, SB is one of the most powerful tools in a Kinetics arsenal, and I think almost everyone would expect you to have it if you're playing a Kinetic.

That said, some (not all) are more than happy to be tolerant if you don't want to take SB and SB people, but...unless you're dead set against being forced to SB people all the time, I'd recommend taking it because A) people will expect you to have it and use it because B) it's just that good.

The amount of energy it takes to continually SB people is part of why I don't play Kinetics every night of the week, but the limitless endurance it bestows your teammtes is priceless.
I know what you mean, my Earth/Thermal normally drives me insane. Control/Heal/Buff/Debuff I rarely play him for that reason. I just people would think outside the box on this question. I build all my toons not to absolutely need buffs, even my stone armor brute doesn't need SB lol
  15. Just to reinform everyone, I know what recharge does. I know what SB does, in fact I know what most sets do w/o looking it up.

The question was a question of personal opinion on the power. Not "teach me what this does"

    @Kioshi
Sorry my Doms are all perma'd w/o help, so I don't personally see most of your argument as truely valid. IMO those doms need to grind and get perma'd so they don't need a kin.

Why? its one power, only one power in the set. A tank w/o mez resistance is ridiculous IMO. A kin still brings a lot to the table even w/o SB.

TCS, you're coming off thinking I have no clue what recharge does. I fully aware of what the power does man, I have those binds and macros already made. My point was "Not liking having to buff every 90 seconds and wanting to focus dealing damage". No where does that state I'm unaware of everything you've stated. Read the whole thread in fact, I already mentioned I have the macros. Relax man
  19. TCS, I've got two Trap toons at 50 myself. I well aware of their effects. My trappers do fine w/ and w/o SB.

But to inform you, Reasons not to take SB:

You don't like buffing every 90 seconds
You prefer to deal damage (mind you, this toon is a corr)

All valid reasons and fair in point to the person with SB. I have SB on his current build and will try to adapt. I'll see where I end up later on with use
  20. It's why I ask, it seems people forget Kin is more then SB. On my brutes, I'm always waiting for FS not SB. I have the 1-8 as macros, but could bind them to my numpad as well. It's more really that I want to be blasting things then buffing endlessly. I would still bring to team everything else Kin has to offer.

The question actually came up when I showed my wife my toons build. She has an Earth/Kin troller at 50 and was surprised to see it in my final build. She said I'd hate buffing the team. Granted I solo'd a lot and lvl'd on smaller teams on his road to 50. Things are less intense on paper missions as opposed to SF/TFs.

It wouldn't hurt my build to leave it in honestly, I was just curious the general consensus.
  21. I've had a Dark/Kin corr waiting to be IO'd, mainly been avoiding it because of the question. To take speed boost or drop it......

I know most would prefer every kin to have speed boost. But, I absolutely hated buffing my team every minute on my road to 50. I've seen maybe 4 kins total in my years here that don't have SB. It never bothered me as I focus my toons to solo regardless of AT. I don't want to "have" to rely on outside buffs that might not be there.

So the question is, how many people would it piss off? I mostly won't take it in my final build, just wanting to get the general idea of what others think.
  22. Most would atm I believe, but we still don't have much info on KM to completely judge it

    Energy Aura

I have a Stone Melee/Energy Aura at 50, softcapped to all types except psi. He's an insanely fun toon, the combo has great synergy IMO. KD's help manage avoiding damage, and EA's powers manage SM's end cost. TBH the set doesn't need much to be on par with the other sets. I'd say add +damage to cloak as another poster said and improve the heal from energy drain. I believe they kept it low because the power is auto hit, add a tohit check and buff the heal.

Or switch out conserve for Energize. I believe this and ninjitsu are the only two defense sets heroes don't have. This would be an easier cross over IMO.

Or take conserve, replace it with something called "Source Flux" giving off the same bonuses as Energize but also +damage.
  25. Not anytime soon I'm afraid, with Kinetic Melee coming out w/ GR. Broadsword is still 2-3 issues away I believe, you never know though.
