Sonic/Traps
It's actually a highly synergistic pairing.
Siren's Song can let you plant your Trip Mines without getting interrupted and those Trip Mines can help with the relatively weak AoE firepower of Sonic.
I don't think there's any big flaw, just that if concept isn't a big deal and you're only concerned with effectiveness, you might want to go with another primary. That's because while Siren's Song lets you drop Mines unmolested, other primaries (like Fire) can put out huge AoE damage without faffing about with a long interruptible animation, while having much higher ST damage to boot.
It's a highly effective combo, just with the caveat of basically everything Sonic/Traps does, Fire/Traps does better. If you're not fussed about maxium effectiveness or have a concept or whatever, Sonic/Traps is a great choice.

The only "flaw" is that the defender version is better.
Sonic/Traps was my first corr at 50 and was slow at first. It got easier once I got most of the toys from traps. I had him when we still had the uber mini nukes via IOs on PGT. It's a great combo and helpful on teams, -res, triage, FFG. Can't really go wrong with the combo, the only thing I would see as a "flaw" is the rooting hurts.
To be fair I haven't played this corr for well over a year, the mini nuke changed the combo too much for me. Lucky enough you wont see the difference, much like I made my Energy Melee brute long after the change and I don't feel the change. It was a lot of fun for me and been considering overhauling him recently. Good luck
At least we still have Fire Blast to ourselves for the time being

Haha, there is that. Damn Defender buff/debuff values.

Even when defs get fire I think superscourging Rain of Fire and not having to wait until 28 for blaze will keep me rolling fire corrs. For better or worse it is the only blast set I go with on corrs anymore though.
Then again, a traps/fire/dark def would be pretty astounding...
What..... How would fire be better, I think if you attack an enemy that has been debuffed 45-60 -res and you hit it with shout, it should hit more than blaze. I think Sonic would be able to solo difficult targets much easier than fire.

edit: it's not just a matter of "stack 60% -res and shout will do more than blaze". Take a closer look.
(we'll ignore damage buffing because it makes no difference for this analysis)
Shout does 88.6 damage.
So we stack 4 sonic blasts, and 2 acid mortars. For a total of 100% -res.
Shout now does 177.2 damage
Blaze does 113.7
We only have the 2 acid mortars for a total of 40% -res
Blaze now does 159.8
Shout is looking pretty good so far. But what about cast time?
Shout casts in 2.904 seconds vs Blaze at 1.188 seconds.
Lets assume we have some good recharge and have each attack recharging in 4 seconds.
Shout's cycle time is now 4+2.904 = 6.904 seconds
Blaze's cycle time in now 4+1.188 = 5.188 seconds
Shout 177.2/6.904 = 25.67 dps
Blaze 159.8/5.188 = 30.8 dps
Flares and fireblast both similarly do more dps than shriek and scream.
A sonic running at peak -res can just about keep up with fire, but remember that each time you pause to lay a trap you are going to lose most of your blast stacking. And you pause often to lay traps.
EB, maybe AV
I haven't encountered an AV yet that I believe I could solo with sonic that I can't do with fire. I've solo'd almost all of them.
Now if we had psy blast it would be a slightly different story as one of the AV's I haven't been able to tag yet makes judicious use of unstoppable, but that is only 1 of nearly 100. Unstoppable usually doesn't present much of a problem either, it's more his spamming of Fist of the Heavens (reminds me of my Diablo 2 paladin heh) or whatever it is.
There is nothing wrong with sonic/traps, it is a very good toon. But from a min/max perspective if that is the goal, then fire/traps is a notch above and so is traps/sonic.
which is more common, Fire/traps cor or Traps/sonic def?
good build, everyone should play it

I have one.. I went the cheap route with him and I'm pretty much capped defense wise. Further if you do a search in these forums for my name you will see a thread regarding a build for this set that players have helped me out with.
If I had the money and could have went more expensive I could be soloing something higher then +1 +8. Psi is my big weakness.
Depending on the mobs you can almost pretty much just toggle between Trip mine and the Sonic attack that causes sleep. ( sorry the name slips my mind at the time of this posting )
Or Poison trap, trip mine, Sonic sleep attack, Trip mine, etc.
I use seekers drones just to get aggro on the mobs and then jump in with one of those attacks or just open up with everything.
Caltrops is another great power simply because the minute you drop it the mobs start to run and you can place trip mine down in peace for the most part.
Silverado has a fire traps which is way better slotted and solos AVs with his toon. I don't think I have enough defenses yet to do something like that. But without a doubt if your looking to make a corruptor, its not a bad choice. Pick defense over attacks when you can is my only advice.

I believe this combo has great potential, but in the back of my head, I keep thinking I'm missing a really big flaw. Is my head correct, or should I be like Jack and Jill going up the hill determination, to try this out.
