You can solo just about anything with a tray fulla purples. But should missions be designed under the assumption that the player will have them? Does the technique permit the assumption that the player can just use Inspirations if the mission was poorly designed?
To say "I soloed this mission with Inspirations so it therefore didn't need to be changed" is problematic, since Inspirations can render virtually all combat totally in the favor of the player.
On the other hand, to say "I could not solo this mission without Inspirations" testifies to the mission's difficulty, which in turn indicates if a mission that was meant to be soloable may need to be changed.
Quote:Wow, really? Then you need to get on better teams. Here's a tip, in case you're one of the many many people that don't seem to realize this: level 40+ missions are meant for level 40+ players. Just because your 50 can sidekick up to seven lowbies, doesn't mean you should.
The fact that the enemies were ambushes was a key factor in the mission's difficulty, since ambushes automatically aggro onto team members at random. You can't have the Tanker charge in and grab all the aggro like you can with normal spawns because aggro has already been established before the enemy is even encountered.
If you're a squishy, you get shot with an ice bullet, spammed with stun grenades and choked by gas missiles before the Tanker can even say "Master of Olympus," which in turn means the group's debuff and healing support is easily incapacitated and everyone gets sapped into limp rags and turned into swiss cheese.
Every 15-20 seconds.
It's not a problem that players face solo, since all enemies in the ambush consistently aggro onto them, and the spawns are much smaller (unless the difficulty settings are cranked up). There's a recurring theme in this thread that "I did this mission solo and it was easy," which is only telling one part of the story. -
Quote:Holy "not as I do," Batman! You could just, you know, say that instead of trying to be snarky.
The cool part about horizons is that they go alllll the way around. A good broadening can be quite insightful. -
Driving in the city, it's apparent that people forget they're not the only humans that exist. Likewise in City of Heroes, not every mission situation is played solo.
-
I'll admit the mission is pretty easy, solo. The fact that you used Inspirations counts against your argument, but unless you're an archetype that doesn't do damage, the old mission would have been within reasonable scope.
On teams, though, the ambushes stacked much too quickly for teams to take out, especially with bosses in the mix. It was not an uncommon sight to see 50+ Malta standing around all in one location, which definitely doesn't cut muster for acceptable mission content under any circumstances...
... not even defeating 100 Destroyers in front of the TPN station. I swear, I hope they shot whoever designed that mission. -
Yes and no. The power grants a power to the selected Henchman called [Noxious Gas.Noxious Gas], which is an auto-hit PBAoE auto power (0.5s tick interval).
The problem is, you can't view the numbers for this power in-game using the Henchman class modifiers, so the display in the power's info window are nearly useless.
These are the numbers:
- The debuff aura lasts for 45 seconds.
- All debuffs last for 20 seconds after a successful hit.
- -15.00% Damage(All) to Target
- -22.50% Resistance(All) to Target
- -15.00% Defense(All) to Target
- -7.50% ToHit to Target
- 0.20% chance for 1000.00 magnitude Hold for 1.00s to Target
- -20.00% Damage(All) to Target
- -30.00% Resistance(All) to Target
- -20.00% Defense(All) to Target
- -10.00% ToHit to Target
- 0.20% chance for 1000.00 magnitude Hold for 1.00s to Target
- -25.00% Damage(All) to Target
- -37.50% Resistance(All) to Target
- -25.00% Defense(All) to Target
- -12.50% ToHit to Target
- 0.20% chance for 1000.00 magnitude Hold for 1.00s to Target

I think the whole "past the aggro cap on -1x1 if you're not min/maxed" thing was classified as a problem spot, but I just think they were being too picky. -

Look closely at Arakhn's e-mail to Requiem. "You had plans only for temporal power within this world, I had plans to change this world forever and make it a new home for our kind." The Imperious Task Force touches on Requiem's "temporal strongholds," such as the one he attempted to set up in Cimerora. As the e-mail shows, Requiem's antics in the time stream came to an end when the Council took over.
The e-mails exchanged between Arakhn and Requiem in the Kheldian arcs are just as chock full of intrigue as the letter writer in Ouroboros. I highly recommend everyone to look into them. -
Quote:Yet Clarissa Van Dorn continues to be incorrect. That's my point. She's dead.So if, after a quiz, you're thinking, "Technically, Julianne Thompson leads Crey after murdering Clarissa van Dorn!", hey, try punching it in because it might actually accept that as an answer. Julianne Thompson has been a legitimate answer since I created this quiz just in case someone did.
Quote:Now keep in mind that I don't have a lot of time to run these task forces personally to validate all of the answers, so to some extent, I'm just trusting that whoever made that edit knows what they're talking about.
Quote:If it's just plain wrong, let me know and cite why you think it's wrong, and if you make a compelling argument, I'll add the answer as a valid one. (And while you're at it, correct the Paragon Wiki, including your citation!)
Though I do like how you cleverly dodged the whole "remove incorrect answers" part. (-:
Koago is a Pumicite, not a Magmite. When I think of what Igneous would look like, I envision a sort of Magmite-human hybrid not unlike Dr. Vahzilok or Noble Savage.
"Koago" may very well mean "leader" in... uh... Magmitian... But I wouldn't count that as evidence towards him being the king and ruler over all. For example, King Thunder is described as a leader of the Warriors without being the leader. To an unwary reader, the mission almost makes it sound like he is the leader.
Quote:Regarding Rularuu the Ravager, read the article. There's no indication in it that Rularuu is dead or isn't still, at least on some level, the leader of the Rularuu.
Tell me this: if you were in control of seven distinct pieces of yourself, would you send one to exist on its own and send five others to kill the one that remains?
Quote:I'll ponder Baron Zoria later; right now I've got to go to work. I definitely consider him at least a leader of the Circle of Thorns, though, and I don't know of anyone else who could be considered his equal in that role. If we knew the name of whoever it was that inhabited his body, I'd add that as an answer too (kind of like Scaldi/DeVore), but as far as I know, we don't.
The Oranbegans knew their dark art, and they had prepared Spirit Thorns: demonic barbs taken from the Thorn Tree in Nerva Archipelago. Under the false pretenses that thrusting one such Spirit Thorn through one's heart would bestow the... thruster... with unimaginable magical power, Baron Zoria and his followers unwittingly offered themselves as hosts for the Oranbegan spirits, for the Spirit Thorns bridged the gap between the living and the unliving.
Thus marked the death and possession of Baron Zoria, and the founding of the Circle of Thorns. This event happened on December 21, 1898, the winter solstice of that year.
The name of the Oranbegan spirit now known as Baron Zoria has never been specified. -
This shiny's got my brain all up in beans. The city folk know Thinkin' Dude from before when they busted his britches and kicked him in a cage. A cage the Nighty-Night Men rolled up right in front of everyone's peepers! You want to study up on this Dream Land and learn about Thinkin' Dude's chompers, you just gotta give your buddy Monty a ring-a-ling and make him flap his trap, know what I'm sayin'?

True joy is setting up a big chain explosion of cars in Mayhem Missions.
Thugs. People are all raving about Demons and I'm not entirely sure that any Masterminds created since April used any other primary powerset, but Thugs is hands-down my favorite Mastermind primary. Between watching the Bruiser step all over everything, hearing the massive spamming of AoE damage and trying to keep the Arsonist alive, the set just goes above and beyond the others on the interest scale.
Incarnate Shard random drops. At long last, everyone has a reason to plow and play with their 50s.
Cross-Alignment and cross-server global e-mail. I can pool all my resources on one guy and craft goodies for everyone else.
Inspiration combining. And the new version: "someone e-mail me a small yellow!"
Side-switching. Soul Mastery on my Tanker is a godsend, and being able to use any character to play with friends no matter which side they're on is a major bonus. -
Ah, Tony... Tony Tony Tony. Irony it is, for you quiz people without knowing yourself all the answers to your questions. Therefore, to keep the public informed of the correct state of affairs in our world of super-powered politics, I shall correct your incorrect answers.
- The Minions of Igneous are not led by Koago. He is simply one of them. Nay, they are led by a man named Ingelbert Maahs who is also known as, surprise surprise, Igneous. He was an Indiana Jones-esque character searching for the Cavern of Transcendence, but whose jealous "friend" Marcus Janssen tricked him and pushed him into the lava. Janssen promptly fled the scene, but Maahs did not die. He managed to crawl from the lava, and was later found by the Magmites. They healed him by imbuing him with their characteristic rock-flesh, and he later forsook his identity and became their leader. [Source]
- There is no leader of the Family, per sé, as they have different hierarchies depending on where you look. In Paragon City, their operations are overseen by Sebastian Frost, who peddles Superadine to the Trolls among other things. In the Rogue Isles, there are two factions of the Family embraced in a tribalistic feud, warring against each other in a struggle for power. The leaders of the two groups are Guido Verandi and Emil Marcone. During the events of the City of Villains missions, Verandi is defeated by the player character.
- Countess Crey is not actually Clarissa Van Dorn, but a woman named Julianne Thompson. Janet Kellum's story arc, The Evil Countess Crey outlines the events. Basically, you investigate a missing person's report for Julianne, and upon finding her dead body and taking a lock of her hair to Cadao Kestrel, learn that the body was not Julianne's, but that of Clarissa Van Dorn. The missing person hunt became a (wo)manhunt for a murderer, Julianne Thompson, who had stolen the identity of Countess Crey from Clarissa.
- The 5th Column was once led by Requiem, but he was transferred into the ranks of the Council when they took over. Requiem's temporal shenanigans are still visible through the Imperious Task Force, but that version of Requiem was from a time earlier than his current Council allegiance [Source]. Instead, the 5th Column joined ranks with the inter-dimensional invaders Amerika Korps and now rally under the leadership of the Reichsman.
- "The" Rularuu are currently and equally guided by the seven fragmented aspects of Rularuu the Ravager, who in his complete form does not currently exist. When the Midnight Squad created the Shadow Shard as a dimensional prison for Rularuu within his own mind, the Dream Doctor, through some undisclosed psychic bond with Rularuu and with use of the Psychic Cleaver, severed his mind, and with it, Rularuu himself.

Issue 19's Build Manifest is online and functional. Lemme know if tracking isn't working the way it did before.

Well, that's a good trick, since nothing in the way it operates was changed... like, really. The changes made between 0.9.1 and 0.9.2 didn't even touch the tracking code.
Since a new problem that was different from the one that cropped up last time occurred, despite having no apparent cause, I'm hesitant at this point to even consider taking steps to ensure compatibility under WINE--I mean, if random things break depending on WINE's mood.
For now, I'm just gonna have to say this: Linux/WINE is not supported. -
New program update!
It's been nearly three weeks since we rolled this out and while it hasn't been smooth sailing the whole way, the project has been very successful and we're just getting started! A few of the issues that have been reported are still issues today I'm afraid, but we're definitely working on things on our end and these will hopefully be hammered out sooner than later!
There's a new version as of today: 0.9.2
With the changes going on over on the beta test server for Issue 19, a few changes absolutely had to be made for Sentinel to work as intended. While 0.9.1 will still work when Issue 19 rolls out, it's highly recommended that you update to 0.9.2 for the few minor fixes that have a major impact.
What's new:
- Program will now trigger UAC prompt in Windows 7 and Vista for administrator access
- Modified logout detection to work correctly with quitting to chracter select screen
- Update messages modified for clarity and will now indicate when program updates are available
- Character descriptions with line breaks will now display correctly
- Fixed issue where Swap Ammo was not exporting in Mids builds
- Updated new Inherent Fitness export values as per client version 1900.201011102104.6Tr
-
I'm not dismissing your issues, Sam, but I do ask you direct your problems to the project's Technical Support board instead.

Quote:Peacebringers used to do less damage. It was Issue 13 when they got a damage and range buff. They're currently 0.850 for Melee and 0.800 for Ranged, which is a good step up from their old 0.750 Melee and 0.625 Ranged. Defender Ranged damage is 0.650, which is better than what Peacebringer used to be.Yeah, the PB was +1 (lvl 53) to the Rikti. I still thought it was impressive, so could a Human PB do the same thing? I've never played PB but I remember being told they do defender lvl damage solo.
Nowadays, Peacebringers are actually quite the little power houses.
You're still looking at a Hit Point discrepancy between Peacebringer and Boss, and Boss has 3 intrinsic points of mez protection, but the high resistance to the Energy damage dealt by Rikti will give you a good edge over them. With White Dwarf in the mix for mez protection, higher resists and a self heal, you could probably put yourself in an analogous situation to the one you observed and come out on top. -
Quote:There are two Accolades that are rather tough for one side to get, but pretty easy for the other. They look like this:how ever I am finding certain accolades such as TFC means I pretty much have to put up with it for a while
The blue one grants +5 Endurance to the character. Heroes can get this by running around a few zones and defeating some werewolves and vampires, but villains, among other things, need to partake in the Lord Recluse Strike Force, which isn't too popular because most teams can't complete it.
The yellow one grants +5% Hit Points to the character. Villains should get this naturally while leveling up, since it's the Accolade for collecting all the Exploration badges in Mayhem Missions. Heroes, on the other hand, have to slog through seven Task Forces to get to it, including five really old, painfully tedious and repetitive ones.
What I did on my Tanker was grab The Atlas Medallion (blue), then side-switch and grab Invader (yellow). The character has run a couple Task Forces in his day, but none required for his auto powers. -
PPD White Dwarf has considerably higher offense than Peacebringer White Dwarf. I think that might be the key to what happened.

Quote:This is gonna have to be a flat no. Doing so would require sending input to the game client, which as mentioned, qualifies as a bot (and those are forbidden).I have to ask this, knowing the likely answer. Will it ever be possible to IMPORT a MID's build into LIVE servers, say while doing a respec? And yes, I realize the complexity of that question :P
Quote:Also, it won't read characters from the TEST/BETA server. Is this intentional, or does that mean i19 will break it?
Having said that, however, the build manifest for the live build will be kept up to date, and Issue 19 won't prevent Titan Sentinel from working.
Having said that, a few changes like logging out to the character screen and the recent tweak to Inherent Fitness still merit a revision to the tracker software, which will be made available in a few days.
Yes and no.
Yes: Titan Sentinel identifies every power that belongs to your character, including any Day Jobs, Temporary Powers or whatever else, but only the build related ones get exported to the Mids chunks.
No: Mids just has a toggle switch for all Accolades, whether on or off. Any partial Accolades owned by characters can't be exported correctly, and frankly, it's a trivial matter to just click the button in Mids after the export it does provide. -
Bit of an affinity for Hero contacts, have we? And is the former name of Rikti War Zone actually mentioned anywhere in the game? That one's a bit bogus.
There's also no Envoy of ShadowS, but even the wiki got that one wrong. I don't blame you for that one. (-: -
I logged in on a public computer earlier, and of course didn't click "Remember Me." As soon as the "Thanks for logging in" page went away, I was logged out. (-:
That check box really works! -
Quote:Nothing's set in stone, since this is just imagination anyway. If you have an idea, go for it. (-:Edit: hmm, we cross-posted. About the first power, though - I don't think the name sounds very warshade-y. 'Astral' sounds like a peacebringer power to me.
Quote:And were you thinking it'd work like fulcrum where it gets stronger based on the number of foes? That sounds a bit iffy to me, since to keep it from being overpowered the base values would have to be extremely small to the point where they'd be nearly useless when not saturated.
Quote:the power can emit a one-pulse buff/debuff around a targeted enemy: foes get -ToHit -Def, friends (and self) get +ToHit +Def. Nothing to the extent of Fulcrum Shift or even necessarily noteworthy, but but a buff/debuff diatomic power might be just the ticket.Quote:Out of curiosity, where are you gettting that rezzes wouldn't fit with warshade lore?
The effects of this absorption changed the Kheldians into being of darkness, and they were called the Nictus. They continued to absorb other Kheldians so that they themselves could live longer. Of course the true Kheldians didn't much appreciate this, so they set out to eradicate the Nictus. This pursuit led them both to Earth, where the Nictus force themselves on unwilling hosts in order to remain alive on the planet's surface.
The main point here is that in order for a Nictus to be created, a Kheldian has to die. Warshades are reformed Nictus, meaning they only exist because they killed someone to absorb their energy. The notion of a Warshade giving life in the form of an ally rez is in direct contrast to their legacy.
Quote:Why is the warshade only able to pull off this energy-transferring trick while dead (given that it's got the usual warshade foe-leeching scaling, it seems hard to use the same sort of justification the original venge does)?
Quote:You'd probably want to add some sort of debuff to the affected foes, too.
Quote:Sounds good to me, though I'd add a moderately strong slow, too - not much use against EB/AVs thanks to their debuff resistance, but it'd make it more useful against regular bosses solo. Plus basically everything warshades do slows baddies, it seems odd to me that this wouldn't
Quote:Thing is, warshades can already absorb alpha strikes with stealth + grav em.
Quote:I don't think that a KD would be that worrisome, especially since it'd only delay the alpha for a short duration and you'd still need to use something like grav em to keep them controlled. A sleep could work too, though - although I'd strongly suggest making it mag 3 instead of 2 (mag 2 is minion only), and probably 5 or 6 seconds instead of 2 since mez durations scale down against up-level foes.
Knocking down and then applying knockback protection is just asking for trouble. I'd rather use some other mez, regardless of what it is, to keep the enemy from attacking the instant they get teleported. -
That reminds me... Since it seems to downright refuse your login, that might be what's causing the hiccup in the first place. Something or other that validates user credentials against user accounts is working goofily, which results in the usual "logged out" symptom, but only on occasion the "can't log back in" symptom.
Hey forum devs, check the code that matches user info with the user database. That's where the break is.
