Yay, now we can blame you for things again.
Planning on being there, hopefully grocery shopping won't take too long. -
Sooooo confused by this. Wasn't this patch on the Training Room for two weeks or something? How did they not catch this problem in all that time?
-
Sorry to ruin your fun, Des. When I wrote the earlier post, I had to fight the inclination to call you a she again. Your characters seem to confuse me on some level.
-
Meh, didn't do much. Luckily was able to reactivate for a month, though!
Still, made about 6 million influence on Grey Pilgrim for just about 90 minutes of playing. Had fun fighting a Rikti Pylon (stalemate) and level 54 mobs while waiting for a spot to open up on DC's Borea train.

Blech, I definitely do not like the new emoticons, so I'm glad something is being done about them. It's a bit harder to find where there have been new posts as well, even if they have the little triangle thingies. I don't really like the new setup for PMs, either. I can't see what person sent them in the list of PMs, and I don't see an option to change it (let me know if someone knowsof one). Not sure I need to see all my sent PMs, but that should be a nice feature for some.
Images in sig lines might be okay, though I think Des is going to make the Victory forums NSFW with his, heh. -
I should be there, though this may be my last week for a bit. As I've posted elsewhere, my account is lapsing this weekend and I'm unsure when I'll be back. Darn low funds.
-
I love Victory... we're grouchy, in a fun way! Heh.
-
I don't believe so... part of the difficulty of the move was having to haul everyone's threads and private messages. I guess the knew ones will be more stable, though they seem to have limitations that these don't, so I'm not exactly sure how the new ones are an improvement, to be honest. No animated avatars is kind of lame, for one... I'm going to miss Acemace beating up Lord Recluse, for instance. Heh.
-
Looks pretty good to me... you have a nice, balanced approach that talks about the pros and cons of the powers (especially Cobra Strike, which gets a lot more flack than it deserves) and the obsession with DPS you get on the Scrapper forums.
I'm not sure I could ever get close to Werner's DPS chain that you posted, heh. Though I did go for Regen, +health, a bit of recharge, and +defense with my MA/Regen, which works well for me, so whatever floats your build's boat. I love mine, personally.
It'll be interesting to see what the animation customization options will bring. Part of me would like to use Crippling Axe Kick, but just can't, heh. I'm guessing that will be one of those with a different animation. -

As others have said, it shows up the end. I also have noticed it when a foe's health was slowly getting whittled down and then suddenly a huge chunk (if not all of the rest of their health, since Shadow Maul takes off a lot of health) is taken off. I suppose it would be kind of nice if it went first, but there is a certain logic and fun to it hitting suddenly at the end with the uppercut you finish the power with. -
So, we're losing the old message boards. Is this something to be excited about or what? I'm more confused than anything, as it's unclear from their official post if the boards will be down for two hours or three days... not to mention whether we should worry about our forum handle getting lost.
Anyway, I may be able to get on some tomorrow and check in, but we just moved to a new apartment over the weekend, and our internet won't get started up until tomorrow (curse you, Qwest!) at some point. Of course, my account is lapsing here on the 31st and I don't know how soon I'll get it going again.
So I'll see you all at some point. Don't have too much fun without me!

Scrappers do not need buffs.

Scrappers are quite solid, and have other pros that balance them out with Stalkers (well, probably makes them better). I suppose Criticals are technically not the most dynamic inherent, but I never complain when a mob suddenly has a bigger chunk of health than I was expecting taken off, or better yet, causes them to be defeated. -
I have an AR/EM that I really do enjoy. He's great solo, and quite fun on teams where he can cut loose even more. I had teammates quipping that I was killing all the mobs on a few teams I was on with him, heh. I've grabbed every power from AR but the snipe, actually. I'd love to be able to fit that in, since it sounds so cool and I rather like snipes. He mostly survives from KB and Stuns, though, so a snipe doesn't really fit in well with that.
I would really recommend getting Buckshot early on. I picked up the M30 in my early levels, since I figured I would want that first because of its much longer range. However, it takes 16 seconds to recharge, which felt like a lifetime when I was mostly using that, Burst, Slug, and the occasional Bone Smasher. The range may be short on Buckshot, but I loved having a much smoother attack chain when I grabbed it.
One other thing. Beanbag is great mitigation, and it pairs decently with Stun from EM. Sure, you have to get in close with Stun, but it's nice to be able to take out a boss of a fight for a long while. This also let's you cut lose with Bone Smasher and Total Focus, with new fear of the boss hitting you back. Nice! -
It helps keep aggro against regular mobs, allowing you to not have to run all over, etc. You get to grab mobs farther away from you, and to pull a boss of a squishy back from the main fight. You can use it to pull. It's the most reliable way to keep an AV on you, rather than smacking a teammate (Gauntlet has a to-hit check on AVs, Taunt does not... if I don't keep taunting AVs, they'll frequently look elsewhere, but be turned right around when I fire it off again).
All those are good evidence for why you should take it. It also reduces Range, which is great. More and more mobs seem to like staying at range (I was really frustrated on my Scrapper the other day when I had tons of Warriors not closing to melee range with me like they used to), and Taunt changes that easily. If a group is staying away, I taunt, and they come right back in. Handy on a team or solo.
When to take it is more of a question... some people swear by taking it early, but I usually take it in the 20s or even 30s, depending on the build and the needs of the tank. -

Something similar for end recovery under level 20 like Beginner's Luck probably makes the most sense to me. Though I think that people should send in tips for the loading screen on this. Hopefully they'll get airtime, as I think it would be quite helpful... I'm always amazed at how many people don't realize they should slot their attacks with endurance reduction, heh.
Though I have a hard time really being annoyed about end recovery in this game when I remember playing a mage in WoW. Had to drink and maybe eat after every 1-3 fights. Against ONE opponent for each! *shudders* When I think of that, I realize how good we have it here, in some respects (not to mention travel time). -
I was going to say... Hammy hogged all the the Pain Dominations so none of us were helping DC out with Electric Armor. I've heard it's more of a "scrapper" set, and one that you wouldn't want to tank with. If anything, I'd say it's probably more weak than Fiery Aura for Brutes (just looking at the numbers), since Fiery Aura has a great heal and Elec has no heal. Don't have to worry about endurance of course, but it's tougher when you're taking alphas, I'm sure.
And complete agreement on Enforced Morale... a bit of a long animation and more recharge than you would think is necessary. -
I would be hard pressed to explain the idea to anyone that saw the mug or any of these things, but they're all hilarious and oddly enough, buyable. Very small niche market (and I don't count, since I'm going to have issues continuing my CoX account, let alone buy a goofy t-shirt), but it seems to be there, heh.
-
I'll be there as well. I'll try to get dinner done on time, etc. If not, hopefully Hamster saves enough late spots.
-
Yup, same thing here. I hope this was just an incomplete note, as those Elites show up throughout the ENTIRE Manticore TF, not just the first mission. I know one other group had them around Hopkins, and my team tonight had them throughout all the missions. Anyone know how to confirm whether this fix will fix the whole TF?
-
I'm thinking EB is one of those people that watches James Bond movies and goes "this is so unrealistic, no one guy could possibly do that."
If it helps, the first Batman from Tim Burton has a few instances of Bats using smoke to good effect to make his escape. Smoke grenades can also can put out a good deal of smoke, etc.
If you want to be realistic, yes, you can't fill up a street just with smoke grenade levels probably. There's instances from Vietnam street fighting where smoke grenades from American troops would trigger fire from opposing North Vietnamese troops, so they improvised and used artillery rounds fired into buildings to make smoke cover for themselves that way.
But I still say have fun, it's a game! -
Eh, I've been saying for a long while that they need to be coming out with varied types of stuff for each issue for awhile now. Some people want more powers, some people want more missions, etc. It would make the most sense to try to satisfy both crowds, but for some reason, all their mission creator people are holed up doing something else while the Castle and BAB crowd are making everything we're seeing lately.
Probably means they're hard at work for Going Rogue content, but that means some of us are SoL until then if that's the case. Not sure that's the best planning, but whatever. I'll have fun playing with the MA and Super Strength animations. -

Hey, if we're really lucky, i16 will allow alternate animations for our powers.

Knowing BaBs, we would have to be astronomically lucky.

Goodbye "Johnny_Butane", hello "Astronomically_Lucky"!

Oops, how'd that slip out.
"The i16 info actually vindicates me. We're onl............................................... ............................eh, it's funny, but not worth my time to dissect the backpedaling.

Why dissect? You could just quote all that and it would be clear as day to anyone.Seriously, some people just want to make the Baby Jesus cry.
At any rate, I'm just glad Tankers got some of these options (though I'm already benefiting from animation proliferation in part because I have a Shield/SS), and I'll be keen on seeing where they go from there. I've been more dissatisfied with the overlapping of animations in game than with a lack of power customization, actually, so hopefully this will provide a means out of that problem. Good stuff, for sure!
