  1. You'll want Elec/Elec or Elec/EM to make it work, Shay, and you do have to wait for a bit... my Elec/Elec Blapper is in the low 20s, and he really won't be able to sap until 35. Reason for that is you either have to use Short Circuit twice in a row (with a 10 second recharge), or wait until 35 to have Short Circuit and Power Sink (which is in the Elec secondary). I'm choosing to wait until 35 to pick up the sapper lifestyle, especially since it helps to have a bit of defense to cut down on the return fire until everything is sapped. Oh, and Power Sink gives you lot's of endurance back, which is why the pairing is so nice... Elec/EM relies more on Power Boost and Short Circuit, I think.

I've seen quite a few people do it, and it does make things nice and easy if you can do it well (I had an 8-man team running Tina Macintyre's story arc the other week, and my tank pretty much distracted a bit for the alpha... after that, the Elec blaster had made it so the mobs couldn't even hit back... it was laughably easy while they were with us).

Anyway, it's a fun, in your face combo for a blaster, even if it's more risky than an Archery blaster firing from a distance (which can be fun, too).
  2. One can only hope. *sighs* I hate these mega companies out there that own all these different smaller companies... Disney is particularly annoying. They haven't been able to do much on their own, so they bought up Pixar (sure, they always had a business relationship, but I'm not sure why it couldn't stay that way). Anyway, this whole move to bigger and bigger conglomerates bothers me, for some reason.

But yeah... Mickey Mouse and Wolverine hanging out is bizarre. Disney and Pixar at least have some affinity for each other... Marvel and Disney? Not so much.
  3. Burn should just be turned in to another AOE. Could be a higher damaging attack on a long recharge like Shield Charge or something (though faster if it's not going to do an KD, etc.), or even one on par with Fire Sword Circle or something. Just something that does decent/good damage (either DPS or Burst) reliably.

It should be possible to find a good balance point there, but I suppose it takes time to do this (a lot more than the tweak to Temp. Protection), and Castle has too much on his plate. I just wish things such as this didn't have to go to the "I'll look at it sometime, hopefully," list so much. If it's even there... but it should be.
  4. It was... fun keeping on my toes last night. I think Des was seeing how many times he could leave me in the clutches of a mob right when he went out of mentor range.

Anyway, it was a chaotic, fast, and interesting run. Reminds me why I generally don't like speed runs... I do like completing TFs without taking forever, but I do like fighting through and being a bit more relaxed. Thanks for letting me in, Des.

    Spend all your merits wisely!
  5. Good luck and have fun. I wish I could make the second run, but I'm quite sure I won't be around right then. Here's hoping you all get lots of merits!
  6. I do have one Zephyr -KB recipe, but I'm not sure if it's below level 20... I'll have to check for you tonight, if this is still up.
  7. And I got the short end of the stick because I rolled Fire/Fire at the start of the game: I just wanted to do a Gandalf homage (though my hero has a very different story in-game). I pretty much picked it because Tankers defended the team, which was Gandalfish, and there was the whole fire/fiery sword thing. So no FoTM for me, just concept, and Burn and other powers are still wonky.

I really don't want Fiery Aura to be overpowered, either... I didn't overuse Burn back in the day or only rely on it, as such a use would have bored me to tears (though it was nice fighting Rikti drones and those darn bugs DE drop and slow your recharge). I just think every set in the game should work smoothly and have a place... newer sets follow this very well, while certain nerfed sets that were in the game from start just look wonky. Regen works pretty well after the tweaks awhile back, but Fiery Aura still has the extremely long recharge in Consume, and the questionable usefulness of Burn.

I'm surprised by this difference, but I would be fine staying at 20 seconds if it got us changes to Consume and Burn (though Fiery Embrace should buff all damage for 20 seconds... it 180 second recharge should be justified for all secondaries paired with it).

  9. Me? I made sure not to mention the 'H' word... it's these other jerks that keep bringing it up. Why isn't it their fault?

Sorry about the state of your retinas, Des... you'll soon forget it during the next TF. Heh.
  10. I have been waiting, for issues now, to find out what is up with the Coming Storm and the Nictus in Cimerora. And they keep bringing lame things out like the MA, Power Customization, etc.

In all seriousness, I like all the additions, but I like CoX's storyline and want to learn more. Who made Romulus into a Nicti, what's up with Silos? etc. I want to know now!
  11. Woot, woot, Happy Birthday MG! Heh.

Now, to make sure and clear of this, I have been joking, and I will be joking in this post. Why is comedy so hard on the forums?

Now, here is the joking part:

Psi, you could have left it at, oh, maybe Psi was joking about how bloody long the Quaterfield is, and that your butt can physically hurt from sitting for all the hours it takes to play it. Yes, even in your super plush, back massaging, super whoopty-do office chair. Or Psi could have been referencing some other uncomfortable butt issues, of which there are many (one of which starts with h, but there are so many more, most of which I don't want to be reminded at this point because I'm reading forums and trying to relax and have fun ).

Does it matter? Nope! But now we know, and I have to say why, Psi, why? Why do you destroy my innocent forum reading experience? Voo already does it every day, why must you?

Sorry to hijack, Des. Hope your run is going well and all that. See you tomorrow! Hopefully you're not too worn out and grouchy, heh.
  13. Huh, didn't know about the underscores at all... I don't really notice them since everyone has their name underlined anyway. Guess I'll see if they could take them out.
  14. Full Auto is okay out of the box, but having longer range opens up the cone more the further back you are, which is nice. You'll get used to lining things up and distancing yourself so you can hit everything you want, and range will probably help some... but I just got some incidentally by slotting the Posi set in there.

Surveillance is pretty good... it can help you open up on a tough mob. I believe the achilles proc can aggro the mob on you if it fires, though (Surveillance doesn't on its own, so you can use it at range/stealth to start things off nicely), or so I heard. I haven't bothered to do it with mine, so I can't say for sure. It's fine without, though.

I know that the two types of Kheldians are almost opposing each other as well in powers and history.
You don't get "turned into" a Warshade after merging. A Warshade is a Kheldian that was once a Nictus, and has turned their back on their philosophy. So, they are a former Nictus, and the current Warshade represents a union of the reformed Nictus and a human. Your idea would go against what a Warshade is.

You also have to think about what you're suggesting. As an SoA, you can be a Soldier or Widow. Both have a branching, representing two options, but you don't get to be a widow when you started as a soldier. So there is no real difference there. If anything, Kheldians have MORE options: we can go triform, dual form, or all human... so we have more options, when you look at it like that.

Ummmm, I thought it was probably because he was going to be sitting in the chair for hours to get Quaterfield done. I was just kidding earlier.

This interpretation brings us to a decidedly more uncomfortable direction, heh.

Okay sign me up for Quarterfield please
You're playing City of Heroes while floating downriver in an innertube? Where do you get that fabulous internet from?

Oh, and how many people think the devs named the contact "Dr. Quaterfield" so they could snicker every time a player mispronounces it? I do.
  18. Wow, I somehow did not know this. I am... perplexed at the difference. Making this change would help out a lot with the perception that Fiery Aura isn't really as offensive as it should be. Though I dunno, I'd probably be more pleased with an improvement to Consume and making Burn reliably helpful.

Gonna try to hop in the next Iso run. Probably a blaster since I only ever tried one... ever. Not sure which one yet. Just not fire (did it) and not the rifle one. Open to suggestions.
    Nice, the more the merrier!

Energy has some nice, visceral punch to it with all the KB. You can have fun annoying teammates, while really knowing you're helping them out. Electricity is pretty nifty, too... I haven't gotten to the point where I can be a Sapper of sorts, but it's still fun. Archery is great, too. Love the
"thwip, thwip" sound of launching arrows... and Rain of Arrows (the crashless nuke) is just awesome.
  20. How many powers does it take to get to Physical Perfection (as in, prereqs from the APP)? I wouldn't having a bit more Regen on my Invuln/Mace, but I think I only have two APP picks currently planned. I might be able to adjust things if it's three, but I'd rather not.

Interesting about the Numina's effect... I did not know that... I might need to move another slot to Health on my Invuln to complement the Numina's I just slotted. Grrrrr. I have build headache!

You need to read up a bit more... every power has a very select palette to choose from. If they ever did expand this to Kheldians (which I'm not sure if they will, since their "look" is a big part of who they are), they would limit PBs to lighter ranges, Warshades to darker, etc.

From BABs posts, certain things wouldn't work on some powers, and I do rather wonder if they didn't want too many egregious things, like yellow Ice powers, etc. (though you can get the same effect just by using current Rad and Ice powers together, hmmmm).
  22. Boy... a lot of people are re-rolling. I can't find myself that keen to redo those levels so quickly, heh. They're fun to do once in awhile, but not in quick succession.

I for one would love to see a version of Time Bomb that is not largely useless.
I think any Devices/Traps user can agree with that... those two powers are far too situational on teams and take too long to make use of. I mostly use Trip Mines for laughs, when the team is afk for awhile and I have nothing better to do, or when for some reason the team can't handle what we're facing.

Can't remember if Traps has Gun Drone, but that one is egregiously long animating for Devices, too. Stupid Malta make me jealous whenever I see them just toss theirs out (well, pretty much).
  24. I find myself soloing a lot with my Blaster, so I may just be getting impatient while waiting for Cryo, heh. Ignite was useful when I was soloing Rikti bombs during a raid, though (poor me, no one wanted to join me). So I can definitely see how great it is if you can leverage it. But solo, I can see a snipe being about as good as Cryo+Ignite on a LT., and I tend to stun bosses and pummel them to death with my melee attacks, as just about everything in game reacts badly to massive Energy attacks.

I probably should keep it, as I'll mostly be breaking him out for TFs once he gets to 50s (hard to play my 50s much with so many alts, heh), and it will definitely be of use with AVs.

Anyway, more on track with the OP. Aid Self can be nice to pick up as well, as damage does tend to squeak through. Though I found with my Arch/Dev Blaster that once you get about 30% defense and just Body Armor, your health doesn't get too low... RoA + Cone of Arrows dropped mobs that fast. I'm not quite at the same level just yet with my AR/EN (wishing for more slots at every level to get more bonuses), but I'm hoping the story will be the same there. Though the new "mobs attacks still damage you if they die will animating" feature might make that not true, now that I think of it.
  25. The original TFs need a Synapse lookover for their final missions... that final level and Babbage really make Synapse interesting.

It still has a lot of tediousness in its missions, like the other Phalanx TFs, but that at least makes it stand out. Posi's should probably use some of the layout from the Faultline dam (so they could use existing resources there) so you feel like you're actually saving a dam, not yet another lab, etc.

Really, the missions could be tweaked easily in the old ones... take out some of the hunts, trim out repetitive missions (I think even making some of the missions longer would be a better tradeoff), etc. Having a special map/encounter at the end would be a little bit of work, but you can't tell me players wouldn't appreciate it. It would also make a lot more sense with a lot of their gameplay tweaks lately: if we're supposed to be playing the whole game all the time, it should all be of similar quality.
