  1. I think you're misreading me and have drastically different expectations than a lot of people. I couldn't care less how quickly people are running Posi, or how this compares to Synapse. As playable content (story, experience, immersion, etc.), Posi absolutely stinks. It's long, bland, and repetitive.

I'm glad it works out for you to farm it/speed run it for merits, but I am equally glad that the devs aren't trying to make content that's good for speed runs. It's a game and should be fun. Those original TFs show that they didn't quite know what made a good TF, so it is a good thing that they're revamping it.

I'm sure you'll be able to find some other TF to speed run to your heart's desire, or whatever will float your boat. You can dial up Orobouros or regular story arcs to the levels you liked before, as well.

I'm not really trying to be snarky, but I keep saying that Posi is bad for how bland and un-unique the experience is, and you keep trying to say it's fun for a speed run. You can speed run whatever TF you want, whether it's a unique or a bland experience from a story, etc. perspective. You can't say the same for people that want to be playing good content like you see in pretty much all the TFs from the Striga content onward (Dr. Kahn is a little meh, but it's got more flavor going for it than most of the original TFs).

Hmmmm, now you're making me wonder if I want your help on an MoSTF run, coz.

And yes, MG, if we had known the mystery reward was dying the most, we would have asked you to bring your DB/WP Scrapper.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. We're still friends, right?

Yup, I responded to winning a tidy amount of influence up above. Definitely a good thing!

I just thought it was rather hilarious that we're going to get a title for dying the most: it's a bit counter to what you usually want a title for.

Voo, I would agree that our first run could have been faster. If our l33t VEAT hadn't failed to teleport us to the back of the mission, that would have cut down on what... 5-10 minutes right there? I didn't notice that no one else was trying for at least a few minutes, so then I "tank-stealthed" to the back. Then I got unlucky by jumping too far and had a mob spot me before I could teleport everyone in, so it was probably about 30 seconds to a minute before I could teleport everyone then.

We probably could have failed that second mission faster, too. Though I still feel bad about that tactic. So unheroic.
  4. Wow... that's hilarious. How ignominious. I don't know if I want my title for this one!

Do note that the first run was fairly good. Please?
  5. Woot! Agent Janus picks up 50 million! I'll put that to good use.

Looks like most of our team got something, so that's cool. Who all are getting the gold titles for this? That's separate from the raffle, correct?

    *added*

Nice try, Ham. Dying once to Hami and that mob in the last room (and never dying in the first run) pales in comparison to your performance. But however you want to sell yourself, go right ahead.
  6. Awwww, Voo, you're so kind. I stay up plenty late every night. I can just play for longer on the weekends since there isn't work, etc. to worry about.

For the rest, here were quite a few LGTF teams going, from what I could see. So yeah, probably a lot of PMs and such going. I know cozmic was running a team, and I didn't see him post about it.

Anyway, had some good fun running it with you all. Got some merits out of it at least, and my Blaster got about 24 more Vanguard merits. *sighs* I wish they'd drop better for him... he still needs about 350 more for his VG costume stuff, and people always run Rikti Raids on nights when I'm not around. Oh well.
  7. Well, that was fun. Our first run with enemies buffed was much better... just five or so deaths (think Ham died in the first mob, heh) and 55 minutes. With us debuffed... ugh, 20 deaths and 1:05 or 1:15... can't recall now.

Gotta love how Ham joked that Vengeance "doesn't recharge that fast" when I died in the last mission off of some bad luck. I don't even want to know how often he died (that second run on Hami had at least a couple). Ahhh, but that's the fun of teaming with a hamster that is satanic.
  8. Other than getting a random buzz from running it quickly, though, what is there to it? I don't think you're arguing that the content is good, just that it's your definition of "fun," which is hard to measure (not really debating that... what you find fun is okay, but I hope you know that most people find Posi to be an abysmal experience: and I certainly hope you don't think it's good content, heh).

Synapse is overly long as well, but it's not quite as long, and there is a good flavor to it from the Clockwork (sure, you may not like them, but it's a TF with much more character to it than Posi... Babbage, the last map, and the Clockwork King make sure of that). I can understand not liking it (I don't run it much either), but it's good for what it is, other than needing a bit more streamlining with the many repeat missions (though I think they have done that a bit).

Citadel could use some flavor, I agree. Beating up Nazis is fun, but Vandal is a bit meh as an AV. Same for Manti. In fact, I'd like all of the original TFs to have something more original to them, like the end of Synapse (and what it sounds like Posi is getting). Pretty much all of the new TFs have something that makes them unique (Striga ones are even decent, they're in Striga, and Hess has the huge volcano and robot). But of all of the originals, Posi had length, difficulty, reduction of powers, and blandness all going against it. It stands out as the worst of the Phalanx TFs, so it's good that they went for it first.
  9. EOEs, according to the Wiki, protect against the mitos and Hami's damage. I wasn't sure how needed they will be, but I figured I would grab them just in case.
  10. Basilisk's Gaze and Lockdown are pretty good, and can get spendy. Another one is pretty useful if you're going for Smash/Lethal defense, so a fair amount of people go for them, too... though that isn't as expensive.

Though just about any of those sets listed will be useful or helpful for most ATs.
  11. Well, for those of us that aren't swayed by merits alone, I'm glad they're changing things up. Every time I play it, it stands out for how repetitive, boring, and unimaginative the arc is. It's the worst of the original TFs.

Sure, they might somehow make the two parts uninspired when they work on it, but when you're starting at the bottom of unfun-ness, it's not too hard to go up from there (and they have a fairly good track record for good content). The only thing going for it now is that it's worth a bunch of merits: I'd much rather the TF was improved and made more fun and dynamic than keep it the same for farming purposes (or whatever people want to call their repeat Posi runs... they're not doing it because it's fun, it's the merits).
  12. Hmmmmm, think we just need to start making decisions. I'll go ahead and bring Grey Pilgrim since we'll want a tank. I guess it's a good thing we're starting late, so I can try and grab an EOE or two, just to make Hami a little easier.

Are EoEs the only thing that cut down on Hami's damage? Can't recall what all was changed for him when they revamped him.
  13. Ummmm, it's currently on test. I would guess it will go live when they give Dual Pistols the go ahead... which is supposed to be this week, unless they're going back on the whole "use Dual Pistols in March if you preorder" thing.
  14. Yeah, don't mind us, Psylenz, a bunch of us have "grumpy old codger" attitudes. I was taking a joking tone with Voo's post, too.

Victory server, where armor that is +5 to defense against sarcasm and angst is a must!
  15. Hmmmm, I could have sworn Viv and a couple others were interested in this as well... where did they go? Come on, let's get a solid team going on this and win it! For the honor, the prestige, the phat l00t, etc.

Heck, 6 man Posi runs aren't that bad. I did that last time when I had that many interested and couldn't find more. You do get a few more Ruin Mages, perhaps, but nothing too earth-shaking. (hmmm, pun intended?)

Good job on owning up to that... I don't think I could have. I'm sorry, MG, I just don't know what you were looking at for this set.

I promise not to rib you about it too much more.

I have remedied most of these issues (took Tough but not Weave), and I specced out of Weapons Mastery into Body Mastery, picking up FA and Physical Perfection.
You'll probably do okay without Weave, though it is a nice boost. Any defense and resists you can pick up will help your higher HPs and regen do their thing. Eh to Body Mastery. I usually get enough accuracy and recovery boosts from my IO sets that I don't see it as too necessary. Especially when WP already has Quick Recovery. But whatever you like! Sounds like you are on a better track.

Wait, you know it's been going 6 years, but you're not so sure about another 2? Even though an anticipated expansion is coming out within a quarter of that time, a new endgame is being designed, and the lead designer says the focus is on content this year (which most people are missing the most right now)? I'm not a gambler, but I would certainly bet on CoX being here and strong in 2 years... plenty of easy evidence to show that it will be here.
  19. Ice is decent: I have an Ice/EM I run with on Tanker Tuesdays. The stuns are nice when used with all the stuns and EM, and you have a bit of AOE contributed from your damage aura, too. I think having decent damage auras are a nice contribution to EM, just because they'll help your damage and AOE a bit.

But go for looks and what sounds fun. I'm much more keen on having a good character concept than being OP. I tend to delete or not play characters that don't have a good story and concept going for them.

    No, YOU deal with that!

It is true, though. There are many good player made arcs... some of them Dr. Aeon has noticed, others aren't dev choices. Ask around in the AE section of the forums or ask your fellow forumites about the ones they have made.

I don't run the AE too much, but there are a lot of fun stories and challenges out there for the AE. I do want to see more developer created missions, though.
  21. Little late for me, but I can give it a try, I'd like to compete for this one.

Got a few options to bring to the table (all level 50s and with good IO builds). I have two Blasters if we end up needing more damage. I also have an Earth/Storm Controller if we want more control and debuff. And of course, a couple of Tanks. I could bring Grey Pilgrim along or my WP/DB. Might be better to bring GP if we need a tank, as he's pretty solid for aggro management/generation.

I think most people are wanting more stuff. I'm glad I17 is coming out before GR, as that makes a big difference. I do wish there was a bit more story arc content, as I think that is something people are now missing a lot, since the two issues before (with long spaces in between) were focused more on systems than content.

Which are definitely nice and all, but I do know some people are feeling the need for some new things to do, rather than new ways of doing it.

So I am rather hopeful that I17 will move things up a bit, and that upswing will get even higher with GR. The servers are plenty active, but it's always good to see more people coming in.

    Taunt. Why not?

    Do your teams do that?
I'm going to linky to my four rules of tanking for this one. You should never rely only on Taunt to do your work for you when tanking. What it can do is complement your tanking on teams, help you with gathering aggro, and lassoing in mobs that want to stay at range. Taunt can never replace the concepts of you running in first and using your aura and Gauntlet, though (which I think you may have been suggesting, Sailboat, I was just adding on to what I thought I was hearing, heh).

All of those make it worth taking to me at some point in a Tank's career. That -range component alone is worth using solo (works on teams too, of course): I missed Taunt on Grey Pilgrim the other day when I exemped below where he has it, and the darn Family just didn't want to get close to me unless I ran around a corner... using Taunt would have grabbed them in for me.

To each their own. I rather like them, since they add a bit more flavor to the area you are in. I do hope they don't screw up SG teleport capability (though it probably won't take long to find them all), but other than that, they're fun. Makes it feel like more than just a faceless city: it becomes a city with history.

Hmmm, you know, it would be a GREAT idea if they somehow tied in your exploits with things you could see on the map... little reminders of what you accomplished somewhere. They could maybe be tied in with your account, as obviously they'd pile up if everyone could see each other's.
  25. Are mission starts or even AE in your base that good of an idea, though? People have enough issues with the whole instanced thing as it is. "CoX is dead, I don't see many/anyone on the streets!" I don't really have an issue with it, but I don't mind having the AE buildings be focal points. You can already edit and all that out of them (I was doing okay with the accolade a few weeks ago, what happened to it?), so I don't see how doing more in a base is going to be a good thing for teams.
