Quote:I'd really like to see your build, because pretty much all of your statements about Dual Blades do not match up with my WP/DB Tanker's experience playing 1-50 and then after. I found him to be a bit slower until the last three attacks, and then he really took off.Not really. You misunderstood all the research and thousands and thousands of attack chains i have tried to come to this solution. Sitting at lvl 40 i have ALL the powers in the DB set. Actually my attack chain is weaken combo then empower combo then one thousand cuts, which when done with no misses standing in front of 3 or more baddies tightly packed is absolutely GREAT. Reality is fighting +2lvl baddies with ~78% accuracy is rarely going to get you seven hits in a row. If on a team with tactics sure, but not normally. It is not that I have thrown out the best stuff without giving it a chance. I have tried everything. The set underperforms when you compare it to EM, Stone, Mace. I am still playing the set even though it is bad, because it is that beautiful. I have met scrappers in game that feel it is bad as well. Weaken and Sweep are great, unfortunately they share a power, so you need to have 2 diff chains. And attack vitals sucks.
Vengeful Slice rounded of his ST damage well, and then Sweeping Strike and 1K Cuts were gravy of fine AOE damage over that. SSK makes it even better for him, as he can slice up hordes of foes solo or teamed now, and Attack Vitals plus the Sweep combo are a big part of that. I pretty much use those when mobs come in on me, and bosses are really all that's left after those are used.
Sure, Lethal resistant mobs are more of a pain, but most sets in this game have some Lethal or Smashing in them. You roll with it.
Not sure what your accuracy could be, either... besides the accuracy I have in my powers, I also get a decent amount from bonuses. I haven't had my Tank miss much. -
My Peacebringer is still in need of Posi and Synapse for his TF Commander badge, so I am going to run a Posi Saturday night at 7 PM Central/8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific. Join in for the oodles of merits, 2XP, comradery, what have you.
I'm going to try and limit the team size to about 5, but if more than that are interested, we can try for a couple teams and go for a race. My PB can tank for this, but bring whatever. Though a stealther/tper might be nice for the ones we can trim down a bit. Shout out your interest and lets get a solid team going!
1. Grey Pilgrim (Peacebringer)
2. Mental Giant (Dual Pistols Blaster: the first of many?)
-
Sorry about that... thought I put a day up there. I'm probably going to run a Posi tomorrow night, if you want to join that, Frigid. So you can get a lowbie blueside in on that if you want, though it's usually easier to run it if you're exemped down.
My Dom is 2 bars short of 15, and I'm stopping there for now with him. He needs to get enhancements, and I need to fit in the 10-15 mayhem before he outlevels it, and I think just soloing the papers for it on 2XP would get him over 15. Enhancements are the biggest concern, though, and the market always goes nuts on 2XP. -
Hmmmm, didn't have many interested. Mental pitied my plight and joined me. We worked our way up to the first Mayhem, and then Madame Pistachio was nice enough to let us join her group.
Felt a bit useless with no enhancements in my powers, but I managed to hold, confuse, and hurt a few. Made it from 2-14 in maybe 90 minutes of playtime, so that was pretty good. -
Quote:No maybes about it! Join in the fun!Maybe? I'd play a dom, some flavor of psychic/plant I guess which I've never done before.
I'll try to sync up contacts as best I can if you're there from the start. We probably won't get many merits, but we can level fast and try to hit the mayhems for each range as well.
Anybody else? I'd like to get a good team going from the start. -
Word. Use the free time and then rejoin, you slacker!
-
Nope, no Aegis. I went for most of my Psychic defense and resist from Impervium (since the set gives both) and Crushing Impact. Those two also improve your accuracy, recovery, and health, which are pretty good add-ons for a Fiery Aura tank, too. Nothing wrong with Aegis, I just got my AOE defense and Psychic numbers from elsewhere. Oh, and I liked Titanium Coating for the price, +HP, and +melee defense, which I would probably prioritize a bit over AOE, though I did end up getting them to about the same level.

Quote:Yeah, I remember being teamed with you and buffing you with Sonic's powers, and you were still having issues (heck, you might have had a double stack from sonic). So I'm guessing the revamp helped a bit.So my Scrapper went from Gimp to Unstoppable Juggernaut of Pure Destruction!
Of course, with two Defenders on the team and Ice and Sonic and who knows what other kind of buff going on, I was resist capped most of last night, so I don't think it was a good test of survivability. Even so, it was fun being able to take alphas and solo decent size mobs while everyone else went the other way.Glad to know it's running better for you.
Used 2XP to get my VEAT to Stamina, finally. Can't wait for the respec at 24, either. I'm going for a Huntsman build, but at 24, he may be capable of doing a bit of AOE without completely draining his end bar. What a concept! -
2XP is upon us, and I have newly created Dominator that I'd like to level up: hopefully to Stamina or thereabouts (should be possible in one night with 2xp and all the leveling changes).
Best way to do this is with a good and large team, of course, so if you're interested, give a shout out here. I'll fill in the roster as needed with invites and shout outs in the globals tomorrow night. Some good folks from the forums are always a good start, though.
I'll be starting out at level 2 in Mercy, so break out your new Dual Pistols Corrupters, or whatever new villain you want to get on a team with. The experience should be coming fast, so even if you're a little higher than that, we should catch up soon enough.
1. Grey Pilgrim (Dominator)
2. FrigidWitch (Maybe, Dominator) -
Quote:Oh, good. I'll have to try and remember to do that, since I will be at school and teaching at that time.Titles will be distributed on Monday in Pocket D between 4 and 4:30 pm pst (which is 7 and 7:30 est). Please have your character in Pocket D at this time. If you are not home, please leave your character logged into your base and Niviene will be able to teleport you to Pocket D.

Ah, sorry about that. I could have sworn from what I read that you lost out on their prestige that they had earned as well. My mistake.

Put in my two cents, for what it is worth. Hope it helps!

Quote:I think the set holds up okay, though going by the numbers, some of the debuffing is a bit too weak, and some of the animations are a bit too long (Executioner's Shot is the same length as Shout, which is also too long for that power, I would say... other similar short blasts are about 2 seconds, other than Blaze).I've read the Doom from the beta boards about how the set stands up to the others, but I've got to admit it is awful pretty and lots of fun.
Even so, it should be a decent set just going by the numbers. I was surprised there wasn't a bit more tweaking done after the open beta, but oh well (might happen after it gets a lot more playtime). Most of the people thinking it's too weak are the absolute min/maxxers, even though it's about the middle to low end of the pack for damage. Going by that and style, it looks good to me, though I'd still love a bit more tweaking to be done. -
?
If you have people just join for the weekend, you will lose the influence they earn when they leave the SG. You're better off just running teams and being in SG mode for your SG over the weekend. -
I can't join this one regularly because of my teaching schedule, of course. Though there may be a week or two when I can squeak in with the Huntsman VEAT I have been slowly working on, if that's okay. He's at 20 right now, but you'll catch up to him in a week or so anyway, heh.

Quote:Or they have been shamed into silence by not uber Psychic Blasters are... just on par with the others.I think the reason you no longer see as much hate for Castle, Babs, and Posi is because the posters that hate them have either left or been banned.
A lot of the devs just have good track records. Castle has shown he cares about the game, thinks his decisions through, and is willing (to a reasonable extent) to discuss them with players. He doesn't have a "my way or the highway" approach, and most people respond to that pretty well.
To bring it back to what this thread is about, the problem with Jack wasn't any one thing... it was a whole lot of things that he kept doing. With the current set, I know we disagree about things and they may not do things we want sometimes, but they do overall have a good track record. And that helps. -
Quote:I have "Gunnerist" camped out, as a replacement for that thugs MM of mine that just didn't work out. I'm probably going to make him an alternate version of my VEAT and AR Blaster, though, so use a variation on that name. And I highly doubt anyone is going to use that name.I hope you're camping your name, GP, because all the good pistolero names are going quick!
I got Wasteland Justice for my DP/Psy Blaster.
If nothing else, it'll be nice to play Dual Pistols when GR comes out, as there will hopefully be a few less of them running around thanks to them releasing it early.
I may put up a separate thread, but I'm thinking of leveling up a lowbie villain this weekend if anyone is starting up something redside. Definitely going to aim for above Stamina levels. I started a Plant/Thorn Dominator a few weeks ago (may sideswitch him eventually) and figured I'd move him up quick. -
They're probably looking at some of those costumes from today's perspective. They were also aiming to push a few buttons, I think. Wolverine is a point blank attempt to get people to link to this page and debate it, as most people were fine with it at the time and it still looks fine for the genre.
A few of them are a little odd, but really in the ridiculous category, either. Psylocke's is a silly outfit, but it's on par with Power Girl from DC. I'd never heard of her before the thread in the comic section, and she's simply ridiculous as well. -
Yeah, I'm feeling a little miffed that they made the collector's edition not available for pre-purchase at all, leaving those of us that can't throw money at everything they put out to wait. Oh well. I'm not giving in, and my dual pistols concept was a Praetorian, anyway.
Still wish they had a way of including everyone in the pre-order fun.
Praetorian PD and Resistance look pretty sweet. I know we don't get the glowie armor bits, but I hope they have some nice costume bits to throw our way along with the NPCs. -
Ryxx, nice quote from Masque there. It made me laugh out loud when he said that in chat.
A resist tank could be fine up close against Ghost Widow, depending on if they built for a layer of defense. So it'll depend on the tank, of course, but you can be layering those cold shields on top of other defense. I think one layer of those defense buffs on Grey get him to (or close) to the defense cap to positions with his setup. I'm aiming for the same thing with my elec/elec Brute once GR hits.
On my last STF run, I used a a few defense inspirations when facing Ghost Widow to dodge her heal more, actually. -
Hmmmm, I hope she'll be on during the evening sometime to do the labeling. How long are they going to be set to last, out of curiosity?
Doing the same event on just Victory does sound pretty good, too. -
Wow, yeah... our first run was close. Heck, we could have made up that time with those little things in the first mission.
But meh, we had fun, that's the biggest thing. I'm still annoyed at how Agent Janus was defeated in the last mission of our second run. I popped a purple to get to the def cap and an orange, and somehow got dropped then. But that setup was fine for other mobs in the TF, and he hardly got scratched while taking on a generator alone, too. Weird.
Thanks for posting the results, MP, it's interesting to hear how people did. -
Quote:Heh, we did pretty well after that first death. And yeah, I suppose we were running more for fun than anything, with some attention paid to time. With most TFs, I'm fine trying to drop just about everything, just to get more XP/Inf/Drops, and because I find it fun. I enjoyed our pace, and 55 minutes was pretty good for not trying to shave the time off on every thing.Well I had fun, was with Voo, GP, and the hairy one for both runs. I imagine we could have been much quicker on the 1st run if we were really trying for time. Seemed more like we were running it just to have fun and if we won something along the way that's great, which was fine by me. Also I think we kind of gave up on winning a prize when someone died in the first spawn on the 1st mission.
Two characters to take aggro definitely seems to help with runs that call for fewer defeats (especially with Ham on the team). Hami and the rest of the TF was easier when you were on a Brute and I was on GP.
Quote:MP, was suprised to see Victory had the most teams participating. Pretty good for a tiny server that no one can find a team on and should be merged. Maybe this will shut that crowd up for a while, probabely not but it would be nice.
