If you have people just join for the weekend, you will lose the influence they earn when they leave the SG. You're better off just running teams and being in SG mode for your SG over the weekend.

I think GP means that you'll lose the prestige that they'll earn. Which isn't actually true. The bonus you'll lose, but not anything they get themselves.

Thats the point Ele, they get to keep anything and everything they get while on the team
The SG keeps the prestige even after they leave, it is a win win
The only prestige you can loose is the bonus prestige for the first 15 members, so if your SG has less than 13 people left when they leave after the weekend then you would loose the bonus from those 2, but not the prestige they earned during gameplay.

Ah, sorry about that. I could have sworn from what I read that you lost out on their prestige that they had earned as well. My mistake.

That would really really suck. We've had a few people with over 1 million prestige (on a single toon) branch off to found their own SGs in coalition with ours and taking most of their alts with them. I'm glad it doesn't happen that way :P
