Poor Jimmy Steve Petey Portal! All by itself like that...
-
Hey all, just a quick two-cents to drop off here. I haven't seen the last two weeks worth of episodes but they're saved on the DVR and I'm thinking of last week's "power switch" for tonight, and the finale for tomorrow.
I can't say I'm surprised at a lot of the comment's about the strong ending petering out to a lame ending. I too have watched "Smallville" from season one on, have seen some good...and a LOT of not so good...but frankly I think the show's overstayed its welcome by at LEAST three years.
Bon voyage, "Smallville". For both good AND ill, you've added to Superman's legend. Respect, yo. -

Quote:Coming Soon(tm): Planet of Heroes - "City of Heroes IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE!"That's something we can agree on for sure.
I think any sequel or offshoot of this franchise needs to go global/stellar.
It's one thing I did enjoy about other hero games.
Hey I can dream, right? -
Quote:A million times THIS!You forgot the mustache twirling.
Honestly, it flatters us that the Community is so passionate about what we may or may not be working on. To know that you all care so much gives us motivation and more reason to continue to make CoH the best Super Hero MMO out there.
Continue the stroking and twirling, Z.
(Did that sound bad or was that just me? Probably just me...) -
Quote:Michelle,You know, I re-read this like five times and I still can't tell if he's being sarcastic or not.
As to why *I* contributed to this thread - one, I am one of the folks who gives a damn about storyline and canon and all that... and two, coz I wanted to see if anyone else thought this was completely out of left field because I was afraid it would wreck my books.
We're like Parliament - all we're missing is us throwing chairs.

I know it's hard to tell on teh interwebz, but no...I was NOT being sarcastic. I meant every word.
Listen, I (literally) have over 30,000 comics in my collection. While I certainly know the difference between reality and fantasy, hold a professional job, boast a college degree, etc., characters like Superman, Batman, et al are as real to me (in their way) as my wife, doggie, parents and friends.
Every incarnation. The Superman of the 1940's is both different and similar to the Superman of 2011. James Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise have had a retcon (or alternate timeline) between their introduction in 1966 and 2009. Hell Batman had to leap through time when everyone was SURE he was dead, then when he came back he completely changed everything by nearly letting his secret identity out...ON PURPOSE.
What I'm saying is every good, lasting character has multiple versions, each equally valid in their own times, for their own purposes. While I too like to haggle and debate the intricacies of my favorite imaginary beings, I've always felt it better to take the concept as a whole. Otherwise, MY Superman would've flown away along with the Moore/Gibbons story "What Ever Happened To The Man of Steel?".
Embrace change, celebrate diversity. It's all right. It's all wrong. It just depends on your point of view.
No, Michelle, I don't think this new information is going to wreck your books. Who says it didn't really happen your way anyhow?
Now someone gimme a chair to throw. WOOOOO!
*power rings a hand to pick up chairs with* This' mah chair throwin' hand! WOO! -

Quote:I'm totally with youu on that, Michelle. You know, I think that absolutely cheeseball grin on States' face is what does it for me. All she was missing was a lens flare off his teeth.
Just wanted to take a second to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. Yes, even you, G.G. Do you realized how many twists and turns this took, about writing, character development, game design, movies, comics, then back to the game again? All because we were talking about the non-existent relationship between two COMPUTER GAME characters?
I totally love all of you fracking weirdo pervs. I only wish I could contribute to the forums more but, frankly, they've put a web filter up at work to block sites that are even remotely "fun" or "interesting". Hell I'm lucky if I can go to Club Penguin at the office anymore (note: I have never actually played Club Penguin. Thank you.)
But yeah, spending 20 minutes going through a roller coaster of shouting, debating, discussing, and virtual high-fiving are why I still play this game and want to continue supporting the CoX community at large.
Oh and G.G.? I've got to meet you...virtually of course. I'll even bring my wife along in case you get nervous (note: I do SO have a wife and she does SO play...and has the 50s to prove it!).
See y'all in Paragon City (and sometimes the Rogue Isles)... -
Quote:This. Makes me feel good when I see it, too.Top notch graphics is not how to build an MMO.
I do think that even if GR wasn't a huge seller, I don't think people can deny the increase of subs as of late. Servers haven't been this lit up since CoV.
I've always thought the best thing any of us can do is support the game internally by getting active, writing a mission, helping a player, buying a SuperPack, referencing to friends, etc. I've personally been responsible for bringing four new players to the game since I started, two of which are still playing.
How 'bout you? -
Quote:I second that emotion. All the way around, Doc.Chewed through all of them, and now I'm left twitching and wanting more.
This couldn't be a sign of addiction could it? (the lack of JLU is the likely cause).
JLU set a mighty high bar IMHO, but Avengers has a *long* reach.
Spoilers aside, it's been a great ride and a mighty satisfying season. -

Hi all. Don't really post here but wanted to start working on a few stories and thought this would be the place to learn a bit.
I have to say, if I KNEW there was voting for 2010 Player's Choice Awards, I would have joined in. I sweartagawd. How did I miss this? Is Paragon Studios not doing enough to promote MA and its authors from within?
For shame, PS! Authors deserve praise and adoration! -

Quote:The wife and I seem to like Siffy, er I mean SyFy's version of "Being Human" quite well. Sadly I can't get her interested to watch the British version so we can compare and contrast.Shame about The Cape.
Any word on the Being Human remake, while I'm at it?
Oh well... -
Agreed. Both the wife and I have enjoyed the Powell family a lot more than expected. This is probably the way "Heroes" should've gone, though I will credit the writers for giving most of the characters some depth for the events of a single season so far.

What Foam said.

Quote:Yeah uh, that all felt kinda..."out of left field" and really rushed, didn't it?So.... Conner Kent.
Yeah, can we just finish this season out already?
Oh don't get me wrong, I think it's kinda great they're giving a nod to Kon-El, but there's no reason to, and they jammed it all into a single episode?
Lois and Clark aren't even married and there's a "little brother" living at home with them?
Wow. What a honeymoon dampener. -

Went to Disneylan...oooooh, someone beat me to it.
I got nothin'. -

Quote:Very much word.Oracle has NO idea how to keep a low profile, from driving around in a very non-conspicuous car and carrying around papers (what were they, flyers?) announcing who she is.
Quote:The hero is a dumb ***, who should have died with the first knife shot at him from that incredibly inconvievable machine.
Quote:And how does 'time' flow in that world anyways? It looked like he was able to master the cape, escape artistry, disapearing in smoke, hypnotism, and "dwarf-quan-do" in a matter of days, yet it takes that council man 5-10 minutes to even begin to eat his meal!
But hey, I don't think your comments are overly critical...just things superheroic fans tend to overlook IMHO. -
Signed. Actually I'm gonna chime in with a few comments.
Someone upthread mentioned that because it was a superhero show she was predisposed to like it anyway. I'm so "this" too. Frankly I'd been looking forward to the premiere despite a measure of dread for it being horrible.
It wasn't horrible, but I agree with it feeling rushed and jammed. The show also feels a little gimmicky to me. I mean I know that's hard to say when one of your favorite characters is named Green Lantern 'cause the energy he wields is derived from a...uh..green lantern...but still. Perhaps if Cape's cape felt more like part of his costume and evocative of a presence like Batman or Daredevil try to exude, instead of an offensive/defensive weapon that just HAPPENS to wrap around you...AND be light and bulletproof...it'd feel less like a gimmick to me.
Oh and not to go off on a tangent, but bonus points to anyone who knows "the supercape of Nova!". Yes, Nova was a published character. I can say no more.
The characters seem okay but they REALLY need time to get fleshed out. Again, back to the "rushed, jammed" feel of the pilot. In short, I think we're off to a good, if not great, start. IMHO it'd be smart to start building up the rogues gallery and balancing those introes out with some character building. Don't be afraid of the "bad guy of the week" concept...it made the "Batman" TV series a household name for 40 years...but TV audiences are more sophisticated now and need - nay DEMAND! - some character development along with their "Biff, Bam, Pow!"
I wish you luck, Vince Farraday. We'll be checking you out from our headquarters.
