The Hellions *do* have a leader. His name is Nick Pocker, aka Tempter, who runs his gang while being imprisoned in the Zig (see here for more info).

Of course, you never face him in game, except in a couple of MA arcs (one of which, The Unleashing, is mine ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, it's stuff like THIS that MA was made to create. I'm gonna make a point of checking out your arc next time I'm on. Oh and nice job on the self promoting, too!

    (Hey it worked, didn't it?)

I'd like to ask, is there any chance in the future that Lord Recluse and Statesman may re-unite to fight a greater evil that will threaten both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles? (i.e. a Dev-created story-arc, not something we do in the MA)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe if Rularuu gets loose again.

Here are some questions about Pocket D.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm gonna take a stab at a few of these. Feel free to agree or not with my conclusions.

    [ QUOTE ]
    1) Is there actually supposed to be a full blown power suppression field in the D, or is it just a McGuffin to keep the supers in line?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since DJ Zero has made it well known there is no fighting in Pocket D, I'd say there is some sort of suppression field at work.

    [ QUOTE ]
    2) Why is Snaptooth so obsessed with destroying DJ Zero's portals?

    [/ QUOTE ]

My guess is they have a long history together...probably some dimension hopping rivalry.

    [ QUOTE ]
    3) Why, if there's no gambling in the Monkey Fight Club, are there slot machines and blackjack tables on the main floor?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You REALLY think there's no gambling in the Monkey Fight Club? SERIOUSLY?? Yeah...that's exactly what Nemesis WANTS you to think. It's a plot, y'know.

    [ QUOTE ]
    4) If the D is so popular, why don't more well known heroes and villains occasionally grace it's halls? As it stands, War Witch is the only super-regular, other than the players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Statesman, Recluse, et al, take their super heroism/villainy WAY too seriously to spend more than token appearances in Pocket D. As for Ghost Widow...well she's EVERYWHERE, man. She IS a ghost after all.

    [ QUOTE ]
    5) Who is Trina, and why does she have such poor taste in outfits? ()

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I...don't know.

    [ QUOTE ]
    6) Finally, does DJ Zero ever plan on revamping the club to include other themed areas like a garden café, a beach cabana, and the like?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you'd have to ask DJ Zero himself, and he's notoriously tight-lipped around the press. Good luck with that though!

Buy everything you can. I'm serious...as much as you can afford.

When I was in grade school, and elderly couple at a flea market were unloading some Golden Age comics @ $2.00 each. I got a Batman #19 (from 1942 if I remember correctly), and several issues of Captain Marvel Comics, including #9. I sold them years later after college for between $50.00 and $125.00 each.

At the time I had no interest in the couples other books like "Little Lulu" or "Dot". Let's face it, I'm pretty much a superhero's superhero when it comes to comics and wasn't interested in the "girly" books But if I had to do it over again, I'd have convinced my mother we were making a better investment if we bought the entire lot of them. Girly books make money too.

So...if you've got an excellent deal on some good quality comic books, I say buy as much as you can afford. Good luck!

    Say YES to NO!

    <QR>

I too say "yes" to "NO"! So "yes"! I mean...um..."no"! Er...ah...

    aaaaaaahhhhhh...so confuuuuused!

    (Give us no, yes?)
  6. <QR>

Yeah..that was, um...wow! That was really pretty excellent. Thanks for sharing with us!

The end-mod proc with chance to stun. Put that in your Short circuit, Ball Lightning, Lightning Field and maybe Power Sink (not sure if it works there). 20% chance to stun is lol-worthy when you hit large groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Which one is that, Tormentoso?
  8. Heroes and Rogues,

My main character is nearing level 50, so I want to get serious about tricking him out with some IO sets. I've tinkered with a few (will post the actual ones later), but I'm curious what other people have found useful.

In a nutshell, Johnny Lightning is an Electric/Electric Blaster with Superspeed and Fitness. Any immediate thoughts or suggestions spring to mind?

And that is the fact that you can't buy it. This game is great, dynamic battles, good graphics, vast area, billions of options, but it lacks the opportunity to buy it permanently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Darn, then I guess it's back to playing Barbie's Internet Dream House for you!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Or "Hello Kitty Island Adventure".

How about making 2 shirts available?

Shirt 1 would have 1st Place on the front with 3rd place on the back.

Shirt 2 would have 2nd Place on the front with 3rd place on the back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd probably buy THREE of those...one for each CoX playing member of my family.

But that's really a good idea. Yes to that please, Devs!

I think you should have a main list as a "sticky", then update from there.

    UNGAA BUNGAA!

    I'd rather be a hunter/gatherer.

The domestication of livestock is for lazy, city-folk looking for more leisure time!

Sorry...can't resist. Mad props to Bugs Bunny:

  14. <QR>

I'm going to start this by pasting a quote from Posi's letter:

"Users are now talking about which Mission Arcs are fun, and which ones are brutal. They have set up threads in our forums where they "Review" each others' work, giving critiques and criticisms on the arcs published by others. They have even gone so far as to make movie-style posters, comic-style covers, and in some cases machinima using the in-game models to promote their arcs. We never expected anything like that even in our wildest dreams when designing the feature, and I think that is totally cool."

Never expected? Are you serious, Pos? Have you not been creating the same game we've been playing??

Brother people LOVE this game. *I* LOVE this game. There are people who've custom sculpted action figures, comissioned artwork, and created live action and animated films all over are nerdy little hobby here. You can't POSSIBLY be surprised that they're pimping their sites with fake movie posters or mechanima at THIS point in the game's life!

And to think...we've only just begun...

    <cues Karen Carpenter>

    (Thanks, Matt!)
  15. All,

I'm currently working on a three mission arc involving an ally that becomes a turncoat by mission three. What I need to figure out is:

    1) Is there a way to have the Ally start the mission with you rather than need to be rescued at some point (I'm told the answer is "no").

    2) If not, how would YOU suggest re-introducing the same Ally for the second mission. I can get away with having the contact explain "seems your friend couldn't wait to get started and he's already run off. Probably gotten into trouble again too" the FIRST time, but it'd be a bit of a stretch IMHO to use that excuse twice.

    3) If there's a way for the Ally to START a mission on your side, then switch sides at a point within the mission.

    Thanks for your help!

Zombie, I think you're DJ Jules' new hero.

Be proud of that, pal! And thanks for the info. You are a quart of awesomesauce.
  17. <QR>

Late to the party, I realize.

Still, I've got a couple of Mac-based friends that I'd love to get playing this game. I think this is awesome-possum news!

    Thanks, Devs.

Thanks for the heads up, Strawberry. My wife and I were part of the Katrina scene from New Orleans about 3 years ago...I lived there for 18 years prior to Katrina and still have lots of friends there. Most of them were accounted for and safe as of this afternoon.

Wanna be heros, folks? Check with your local Red Cross about volunteering when this mess is over with.

LOL, thanks for comparing me to a whole team of people, I'll take it as a compliment. But I did pretty much everything, except that a few friends did voices (I know my limitations :P) and a couple people helped puppeteer some characters in-game. I - wrote, directed, capped, after-effects'ed, video and sound edited, and created/played music for the whole darn thing. Granted some of the music was stuff I had written awhile ago, but I ran out of time at the end :P I did get everyone to sign release forms and all that, stating that I was the only entrant even if they helped a little. Oh well. Congrats to the finalists BTW!

    [/ QUOTE ]

You should take it as a complement, Falcon! Both "Mechanico" episodes are among the top level of CoX Animation ever. Quick, economical movements with humor, pacing, and a story. What's not to like?

Yes, I too vote "moar nao" of the Dr. Mechanico.

Hiya, I'm sneaking over from the WoW machinima community and I didn't realize there was this message board going on here until now. Hehe. I made a little CoV film years ago, and thought I'd make the 'sequel' for this contest (provided it is actually freakin' entered, it says 'compressing' - I hear that's the story with some other folks too though).

I'm glad that CoH/V has some machinima filmmakers; it's a fun engine to film in (despite the really annoying short day/night changeovers - "ok let's get the shot - NOOO THE LIGHT IS CHANGING"). But after filming in WoW for so long I enjoyed shooting in this game again. Good luck to all in the contest!

You can check out my entry (the credited version) if you like, on YouTube.

Falcon - The original "Dr. Mechanico" was a hoot, and I'm glad to see you came up with a sequel. Thanks!

Dalgryn, the vid author is a HER, and Sam has probably had at least something highlighted by the Devs at one point, though nothing quite this pinpointed. Most of her stuff is available via YouTube or through her site. I'll let Sam pimp herself out from there.

I am currently a jealous mealous 'cause I'll have to wait until I get home to dig on the awesomeness.
