Ok, I did some tweaking. I think I'll wait to truly frankenslot until I get a little more used to the powers themselves. I decided to take the Stone APP instead of fire but I'm not too sure about the Earth's Embrace or the slotting for Seismic Smash, Fissure, or Rock Armor. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. And again, she will be used mostly on teams and some solo (probably different builds for each so slotting can be adjusted) and the team build will be set for farming (I figure it's the best build for teaming whether or not I'll actually be farming (please correct me if I'm wrong)).

Well I'm sorry that I'm not most people who would ignore any sort of help. I did post the builds in order to get help from those who have greater knowledge than I do. And if you look at all of the threads I have posted (other than the blaster whom I am busy fixing), I have taken the advice and fixed my builds. All I'm asking is that you not automatically judge me and instead help me figure out what I'm working on so it would make the game better for me and those that I'm teaming with. For all you know, I could end up on a team with you. So in that case just writing me off as someone who just can't do it isn't going to help anything at all.

Alright, due to my "obvious" lack of knowledge, I have simplified the build and just used the basic IO's. Now, I would love some support and encouragement on how to fine tune this build with suggestions as to which powers I absolutely do/don't need to take and when to take them, how to slot them properly, and which sets (if any) fit into these powers. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money (just what she can accumulate through leveling up). So with that in mind, I welcome and constructive criticism anyone might have.
Btw...calling all of my builds trolls and then not explaining how to make them any better doesn't help anything. they may be bad, but in my experience, it's always better to just try and help someone instead of just saying it sucks and walking away.

Here is an updated build. Now, if there are any particular IO sets that would be inexpensive yet effective then please let me know. And just for thought, he will mostly be used as an AoE beast. Jumping right in the middle of crowds and hitting everyone hard. So with that in mind, any tweaks I can make?

I have come to a realization that I really don't know my stuff when it comes to IO sets. I really don't have that kind of money and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for what powers to take and when to take them (if there is anything that needs to be changed with that) and more importantly how to slot the powers to be most effective. Any suggestions on inexpensive sets that make the powers that much better would be great too. I thank you all in advance for the guidance.

I apologize for seemingly throwing this build together. I'll be the first to admit that I have had very little experience with IO sets. The main purpose of this build is for teams and maybe a little farming. I do appreciate the constructive criticism from all of you. I am going to work on re-tailoring the build and will repost it when I get done. I think I am going to stick with regular IO's for now and I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to which sets can go into which powers and work well. I think that slotting for recharge is going to go a long way into helping me do what I want to do with her.

Ok everyone, I can't thank you all enough for the help and advice you have given me. I guess I was just jumping into Mid's blindly and slotting whatever seemed the "coolest" without giving much thought to the enhancements themselves or their relative costs. After reading all of your suggestions I have retooled the build. Please let me know if I'm heading in the right direction.

Well this post was specifically on Invul/WP tanks. Dark Armor isn't exactly seen as a Natural set. Especially for the ex-Army MP that I'm working on.
After reading all of your posts I've decided to roll an Invulnerability tanker. And keeping with the theme I'm going to stick with SS as a secondary.
Does anyone have a Mid's build for that that they could share? Maybe one that is slotted and such? -
First of all I want to say thank you to anyone who reads and responds to this thread.
Now that that is out of the way, it has been quite a while since I've rolled a tank and really started getting the urge to roll one based on a character in a book I'm reading right now. Due to the theme of the character, an ex-Army MP, I have determined that I want him to be have either Willpower or Invulnerability as a primary.
However, that's when I get stuck. I was looking at both sets and for the life of me I can't decide on which would be better. Both fit equally well thematically so that's not the issue. I was just wondering if I could get some expert opinions on which set is easier, more fun, and more effective for the purposes of tanking. I'm quite familiar with how to play a Tank and so I'm not looking for the "newbie" route. If one is more effective than another but not necessarily easier then that's fine.

Yet you still did not offer any constructive criticism to her. I believe that is what we all are saying here. It's not that you were wrong to question her build or that you were wrong to vent. But the fact that you did it to us without thought to asking her first is what warranted this response. That's just the way I see it. I might be wrong though. After all, I'm only human like the rest of you.

I was on a team the other day and something made me laugh. I was on my Kin/Energy Defender and was duoing with a friend who also had a Defender. After playing a bit we decided to run a full team for a while. I picked up another Def and 3 Controllers and a Blaster. Last of all I found a Tank. The first thing he said when he got on the team was, "Woo hoo! 3 defenders!". He said 3 Defenders. Not Controllers. So our value is still seen by some.

Wow, it's hard for me to sit and read all of this criticism from everyone. There is no wrong way to play a certain character. If you don't like the way one person plays a character, then don't team with them again. It's honestly that simple. I know I'm not the only person who hates when another player "tells me how to play" and I can't believe that anyone would suggest reprimanding someone for their play-style. I currently have a Kinetics Defender without Speed Boost. Are you all going to tell me that I'm playing the game wrong? Considering I have not once been chastised for not taking SB after about 2-3 mobs worth of my playing I'd say that I'm doing just fine. Now, I understand the reason for the original post. It can be frustrating when someone doesn't play the way you expected. But hey, sometimes seeing someone playing a powerset differently than every expects can turn out really well and surprise a lot of people. I'll be the first to say that an Empath that doesn't focus on the Empathy powers is odd (unless she had a build for soloing or something and wasn't able to switch to a more team oriented build, idk), but certainly asking about her MO instead of assuming that she didn't know what she was doing would be the way to go. I usually don't rant about much but I couldn't stand by and read this injustice to this amazing game. I've been playing since the first launch of the game and I still enjoy helping newbies out. After all, if people are trying out the game for the first time and they are always being "told how to play", where is the fun in that? Isn't this game about self-expression and enjoyment? All i have to say is, "Do unto others people. Do unto others".
