He knows what Tyrant does to keep his people safe, he knows the work of the Psychic Friends Network and the Powers Department, but he sees a world-encompassing utopia where people are murdered in the dark as far superior to a world where 1/3 of the world live in quiet comfort while 2/3 of the world live in squalor, being murdered in plain sight.

Does it make him evil to side with Emperor Cole?
That's exactly where the moral problem and questions in GR come from - and why it was so important for the devs to visually reimagine Praetoria from the one we see in the current Praetorian arcs.

Everything about Nova Praetoria looks - and in some case is - better than Paragon City.
It's more modern, it's cleaner, shinier, more peaceful, with almost no crime, and the people seem happy and safe.
The moral temptation that Tyrant and his government presents just wouldn't work if Praetoria looked like the Rogue Isles.
As someone said recently: "it looks like paradise"

Having our Heroes work for him in this scenario makes as much sense as Superman taking a job with LexCorp.
That's not quite the same situation - it's missing the "humaity in danger" angle that can be used to try and justify Tyrant's actions.

No, "everyone else" has been saying that you could work for Tyrant and not become evil - that you could play a loyalist 1-20 and at the end, still be a hero - that even when you've found out the truth about Tyrant, you could still serve him while continuing to be regarded as a hero back on Primal Earth.
Going Rogue is about moral choices - you can be a hero who choses to serve Tyrant, even though his govenrment is evil, becuase you can genuinely think that his methods are for the best.
  4. I'm not back-pedlding - I'm just trying to point out that some types of Primal Earth heroes could end up serving Tyrant without needing to grow moustcaches first
  5. I meant more was there anything done to allow players of EQI to continue their avatar in EQII, or were they totally separate?
  6. Welcome to the forums, Mython
You might find GR has something to replace EATs as a reward for 50s
  7. I wasn't around for EQI and EQII - how was that handled?

EDIT: Although, Tyrant does manage to hold Statesman in the current Praetorian arc - plus, the superpowered people who are killed off wouldn't be gunned down in the street, so they'd have to be held somewhere too - so maybe Paretorian prison tech is more advanced?

In fact, that could make for a wacky mirror universe mission - you could get captured, and have to be freed by Resistance NPCs

No - I'm just pointing out that just because Tyrant is evil,´that doesn't meant that GR is a "waste of time".

Just beacause Tyrant and his government are evil, doesn't mean they're not the only guaranteed security for humanity - the Resistance might be able to protect humanity too - but Tyrant can for sure - the existence of Praetoria and the peaceful, crime-free lives of most of its citizens is proof of that.
Tyrant has used evil methods to create a world more peaceful than Primal Earth - so through evil, has he actually done more good than the heores of Primal Earth who fight against evil?
Just because he's evil, does that mean he can't have done some good too?
When does the price of security and peace become too high, or is there no price too high for having it?
If the majority of people are safe and content, then does it really matter how the minority are dealt with to continue to keep the majority safe and content?

There's lots of room for moral grayness in GR.
  12. Well, the open beta announcement sort of covered that
  13. Is that an NPC standing to the right? If it is, that might narrow down which building it could be - although plenty of contacts hang around outside buildings
  14. I thought the DP open beta still would only be open to 3+ month vets, because you can't use them properly them unless you're wearing a treenchcoat?

    And were you told why?

My account is current, contact info is up to date, only thing I can think of is I was gone for June up until the beginning of December, but I will hit 63 months this week.

    Thanks
Did you try logging on to the Test server during the closed beta?
Not everyone got an e-mail saying they were available for the beta.

If you are a Rogue or Vigilante, can you fill the requirement either way?

    Stormy
As far as the game is concerned, a Vigilante is is just a Hero who has access to the Rogue Isles, and a Rogue is still a Villain who can go to Paragon City, so I think they'll still be counted as blue and red for things like the Valentines event.

The framework of the story is that Tyrant's government is evil, and the Resistance are good - but inside that framework, there's lots of room for moral grayness.

For example, is everything you do in CoV evil just because the framework of CoV has the Rogue Isles ruled by an evil dictator?

If you have in-game frineds, then why were you complaining about the badges being hard to get?
  21. I think they should remake the Tunnels as a Faultline-style network under the Hollows, rather than keep it as a separate zone.

Well, there have been little changes to most of the zones - Wentworths brought their own building style, and so did the AE - so most of the city zones have got one or two of what could be called CoH 2.0 buildings in them.
And while the Vanguard buildings still use the older ones, they at least have made them "living" buildings, where you can enter them for no reason, rather than only using them as doors to missions.

What would be nice would be for them to replace the old buildings with new ones tied to an actual in-game group - for example, add a Crey research building to most of the city zones, and have all missions that invovle a Crey lab tied only to them rather than random buildings - and add a non-Crey research facility to the zones too, to cover any missions that involve labs not attached to Crey.
  23. We're getting reflective costume parts with the ultra mode graphics setting, so it's quite possible there'll be some capes that have the same effects.
  24. I think it's possible to look at GR as a sort of CoH 2.0 - possibly even a sa teast run for something else, especially with the look of the zones - it has more detailed and individual looking buildings, with a backstory for each one, and what they're used for and so on, and the missions are directly connected to them - so you wouldn't get a lab map in a normal skyscraper, for example.
