Welcome to the game and the foums, Vicros

You've made the right choice - spandex will always beat chainmail

Wait - wasn't this thread in General Discussion yesterday? Does it's move to the Comics Culture section give us any hint about changes to the new rules?

Actually, it does, if you understand what Star Wars is.
"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." (6-part space fairytale happens) "...And they all lived happily ever after".
That's it - beginning, middle and end - from Qui-Gon's "Captain" at the start of TPM to the celebrating Gungan's "Wesa free!" at the end of RotJ, that's all there is - that's Star Wars - everything else is just various levels of fan fcition. -
Quote:Yup - it's like adding non-Tolkien stuff to the history of Middle-earth.Oh gee, I guess because the ever-infalliable Lucas says it is so, it must be, huh?
No official story, no - just various levels of fanfictionQuote:Sweet tapdancing monkies. Because he's never thought of anything, that means there's no story?

Quote:The movies are all that matters. So wiping out the Sith, therefore leaving only one philosophy/aspect/whatever of the Force creates balance? If you're only going by the movies then you only have the Jedi interpretation of the Force left at the end, with nothing to balance it out.
Quote:"I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: my universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions." Quote:"But there's no story past Episode VI, there's just no story. It's a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that's kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books. But there's three worlds: There's my world that I made up, there's the licensing world that's the books, the comics, all that kind of stuff, the games, which is their world, and then there's the fans' world, which is also very rich in imagination, but they don't always mesh. All I'm in charge of is my world. I can't be in charge of those other people's world, because I can't keep up with it." Quote:"I've left pretty explicit instructions for there not to be any more features. There will definitely be no Episodes VII-IX. That's because there isn't any story. I mean, I never thought of anything. And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."

Quote:It's a space fairytaleWow...so the death of the Emperor completely eliminated any person's need for greed and power. What a fantastic world you live in.
And you honestly think that because you cut off one head of the massive military apparatus that is the Empire, the rest will just lay down their arms and give up their worlds?
Naive, you have a new poster girl.

Quote:Well, it's clear that one choice is for the Resistance and one choice is for the loyalists - but does that mean it's always clear what's the right thing to do?I was hoping it wouldn't be that blatant, but I fear it is.

I would have liked it if you didn't know which choice would take you which way, myself, and had to decide on your own from the actual text what might happen.
For example, think about the Primal Earth Freakshow mentality, with them raging against "the system" - then think how Praetorians with the same mentality would react to a geuine tyranny? If you're an evil anarchist, who thinks all authority is bad, then just imagine how you'd react to a real dictatorship.
Or, while you might be a jackbooted thug swaggering around and enforcing the dictatorship, the Syndicate, for example, are still an actual criminal organization - so just because you might spend the morning arresting the family of someone who spoke out against Tyrant, that doesn't mean you couldn't spend your afternoon fighting genuine criminals. -
Anakin's personal journey is matched by the rise and fall of the Empire, with the death of Palpatine wiping out the Sith and bringing balance to the Force - Anakin's death destroys the Sith and the Empire.

Quote:Really? We only saw him close his eyes on the Death Star with Luke - that's not proof that he's dead - and as for the Force ghosts, they look a lot like the holograms in the movies, so they must be holograms too.Since he died on the Death Star, when Luke was leaving with him. Then you see the double vision clone on him young and old look over Luke with the two other dead Jedi.

And Catwoman is a DC character that will very likely feature in DCUO - anything less than an NCSoft death squad being dispatched at once to the OP's house will make me very seriously reconsider renewing my sub.
-
I think the phrase "a slap in the face" has now become to mild to express the amount of rage being used in most cases - I think we should take it to the next level and use "a kick in the teeth" as a more forceful expression of wrath.
-
Not only is this cat totally unrelated to CoH, but the OP is blatently advertising at least two other MMOS - anything short of a life ban from all current and future NCSoft products will leave my faith in the forum rules badly shaken.

Quote:But every thread can be a doom thread - with enough effort

I think they're probably closing the sevrers down - without 11 million pre-orders, GR is an MMO failure before it's even launched.
