  1. Wow. I guess I picked a bad time to come back and get addicted. I've been gone for years, back for a month, was having a blast. I feel like I've been punched in the gut.
  2. I've done all of the 1-19 arcs, I dont remember any of them being Praetoria related. What did I miss?
  3. Billy, you're my hero. Thats EXACTLY what I needed. What do you mean by Tyrant's personal mission? He's a contact?
  4. When working as a team, either for normal missions or TF's or what have you, is there any way for people who arent the team lead to see the story text from the contacts and such along the way?

I ask because there are a lot of TF's that I havent tried yet and I'm mostly interested in them for story purposes, but as a newb I cant really take the lead spot. Am I just stuck running the TF and then going to the wiki to see the text around whatever I just did?
  5. Ok, so from some digging around I think I've been able to get at least a partial order together:

    Behavioral Adjustment Facility Trial

    Lambda Sector Trial

    Keyes Island Reactor Trial

    Underground Trial

    TPN Campus Trial

    Minds of Mayhem Trial

    Dark Astoria

    Dilemma Diabolique Trial

    Belladonna Vetrano

    Magisterium Trial

I'm guessing that Tina Macintyre and Maria Jenkins are sort of before any of that stuff? And then there are the first / night ward arcs that are seperate, as well as the Sutter TF which from what I can tell happens first? Am I missing anything?
  6. Aye, I did all the first ward / night ward questing. I just didnt feel like the jump to first ward was a proper intro, it still felt like the NPC's assumed I knew about praetoria and the basics of the political structure there.
  7. Indeed it is, and I've mass consumed a large portion of its content since coming back about a month ago, including pretty much all the lore. I *AM* familiar with the praetorian background and general information provided there. What I'm after is the correct sequence to experience the storyline IN GAME, and I havent found anything on the wiki that can help me there.
  8. Hey there folks, just looking for some clarification. How is the praetorian storyline meant to unfold on the blue side? My impression from digging around was that Tina Macintyre's arc was supposed to be the introduction, but she talks to the player as if Praetoria and the associated characters are all familiar.

I did notice that her arc has apparently been changed and that it USED to be an introduction to these things. With this change, is there a new introduction somewhere that I missed, or is it just assumed that the player base as a whole knows all of these things already?

In any case, can someone lay out for me the order to correctly go through the full praetorian story (contacts, TFs, etc)?

    Thanks!
  9. Also, what does this mean:

    "catalyze your Scrappers Strike"

Edit: Nevermind, found it on the wiki. Learn something new every day :-)
  10. I notice I lose about 30% of accuracy bonus too, but I THINK that's a fair trade given the benefits.
  11. Thanks for taking the time to play with it! Its definitely an interesting set of changes. I'm not sure I'm willing to part with the quick recovery slots, but I can always stick the floater back in there and see how it goes. Now to figure out how hard it will be to get all this...
  12. Heres one with some minor tweaks, taking two slots out of combat jumping, switching one healing set to numinas, and adding in a the steadfast unique.

  14. Ah, that explains it. I didnt start doing tip missions until late 30's. Thanks guys!
  15. Minor spoilers about alignment mission follows

So I was doing a hero tip mission, something about warning a longbow base that a malta assault was incoming. I get there and talk to the base commander, and lo and behold Frostfire is randomly standing there, says if I'm here something big is going down, and joins me.

This came as somewhat of a surprise to me, as the last time I'd seen the guy was when I busted him somewhere around level 15 as a gang boss.

    Err... wut?

So I checked the wiki, and it says this:

In the 1-9 level range Frostfire is a Villain and the leader of the Outcasts. After his arrest at the end of Flux's story arc, he remains imprisoned during the 10-19 level range. In the 20-29 range, he is once again free and attempting to regain his lost respect. In the 30-39 level range, he becomes disillusioned with what he's become and seeks to redeem himself, becoming a Rogue. In the 40-50 range, he has finally overcome his dark past and becomes a Hero.

So my question is where does this information come from? Were there arcs that I missed, or is this arbitrary information to explain his presence as a hero?

    Thanks folks!
  16. Thanks for the link, thats definitely a place to start.
  17. Hey folks, I'm a recently returned player from somewhere around issue 9, so I'm still getting up to speed on all the IO stuff. I've started a DB/Regen scrapper and have been having a ball with him, but I'm playing with lvl 50 builds in mids and I think I'm a bit over my head. I'd like some input on how I can do the following without EXTREME expense (obviously heavy expense is a given):

Global recharge > 70% (so I can drop hasten)
All attack powers have equivalent or better than 1 acc, 1 endred, 3 dam SO's
    maximized regen and recovery
as much def as can be squeezed in given the above

These are the powers that I'm looking at, but I'm open to any improvements you folks care to suggest.

I'm also willing to shift the goals around if you can give me a solid reason to. Thanks everyone!
  18. What are the portals at the top of the ramps in pocket D? They say I cannot enter, and I cant find any mention of them in the wiki or elsewhere online.
  19. Thanks again for all the info guys, you've been very helpful. I've managed to get a build that has genuine perma hasten, but the recharge rates on everything now almost seem excessive :-p I'm gonna try another build to see if I can soft cap defense, and then squeeze whatever recharge in that I can.
  20. Thanks for the info guys. I think I'm going to wait til 50 before I start seriously worrying about the sets, and just get the lvl 50 versions at that point if they are indeed the most widely available.

So now I'm messing around in mids trying to figure out what I can manage slotting for recharge. I could be missing something, but it looks like as a dual blades/regen scrapper I cant get anywhere close to perma hasten. As far as I can tell my only real options are the spiritual alpha slot and the two LoG's that I can drop into combat jumping and weave if I take those. With three slots in hasten, that puts me at 22s away from perma.

Assuming I'm not missing something obvious, I'm more or less ok with that result. In that case I'll probably drop hasten altogether and try for decent global recharge and recharge in the powers themselves. The next goal on that approach then would be perma Dull Pain. I cant quite seem to get there either though :-/ I suspect I must be missing something. Can someone point me in the right direction or post a mids build that works?

    Thanks again guys!
  21. Hey there guys, I'm a returning player from somewhere around issue 8. I've spent the last two weeks reading up on everything that's changed and all the new systems, during which time I've also gone back to VIP and have been having a blast in game. The only thing that I feel like I dont have a handle on at this point is the IO sets.

I started a dual blades / regen scrapper who is currently just over 30. When he hit 28 I decided to blow a few million and replace all his SO's with the basic lvl 30 invention IO's so that I wouldnt need to replace them again, and have been adding 30 IO's as I level.

So, the questions I have at this point are:

When do I need to start considering slotting set IO's?

Is that something that should wait for 50, or am I missing out significantly by avoiding them at my level?

If I get them at lvl 30, do I need to be looking at replacing them with 50's, or is the difference negligible?

As a dual blades / regen, what sets do I need to be looking at using, what uniques, and how do I focus on recharge bonus (aiming for perma hasten)?

Thank you all for your help!
  22. I just got a 5 button mouse, and am trying to set some binds up for the extra buttons. The biggest snag I'm hitting at the moment is the button I'm trying to set for buildup/aim. I thought that

    /bind button5 "powexec_name build up$$powexec_name aim"

would hit buildup and immediately queue aim, but all that actually happens is I get a message in the combat window saying "now readying aim instead of buildup" and aim tirggers. Any ideas how I can work around this? Mebbe theres a specific command to queue a command instead of triggering it directly?

    Thanks!
