Wow, some of you guys are really good at flaming other players.
1) I never said I didn't believe they weren't doing anything.
2) I'm definitely not a spammer. You really think one would take the time to post on the forums? O_o
3) I'm not being bratty if that's what you meant. I simply refuse to accept that the best a professional in charge of communicating to the public can do is say "It does stuff." This is your game too, and they obviously spent time programming, testing, and sending out a patch - time away from fixing OTHER things - to do this. I don't understand why you wouldn't want an explanation for doing that. They haven't even told us what it does - vaguely, detailed, or otherwise.
I never said they should provide trade secrets, exact workings/mechanics of it, or anything like that. A general explanation would suffice. I would simply like to know what its PURPOSE is so that when people inevitably ask what it's for in-game, and what's the difference between it and /ignore, and why they still have to send in a /petition afterwards, it can be explained generally why it should be used over /ignore.
As it is, I see no benefit for it on my end. All I see is that I'm still having to spend the same amount of time away from playing to report a spammer and keep them from bothering me. How has this helped me? How has this helped you? -
[ QUOTE ]
I suppose the kind of answer where they don't want the exact workings on the command out. If they say "It logs the last 10 lines of chat from the ignored target; if the 10 lines match [or are close enough] the target is autosilenced until we investigate", the target could send 9 different tells to himself between each spam, or something similar.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stating the "exact" numbers on what it collects, if it collects anything at all, is entirely different than stating what the command does.
For instance, they could say it collects a history of chat data from the spammer for further investigation. Tell me how that would hinder anything? They could say it will forever ignore any character that person makes. How would that hinder the working of the command?
ANYTHING would be better than saying, "it does stuff!" Give me a break. -
What the heck kind of answer is that?
"It does stuff <honest!> but we're not gonna tell you what or why it helps you and has improved things in-game. By the way, you don't need to use those silly OTHER commands that were already in the game now."
I think, for some reason, I would expect the Community Relations MANAGER to actually communicate the details of new functionality. I know, call me crazy. I get these wierd ideas of how things should be sometimes....
Lighthouse, obviously it's NOT more straightforward. We want to know what the heck this does for us. How will /ignore_spammer help us not receive messages from them anymore? How will it get rid of the spammers for us? WHAT DOES IT DO? -
Actually I added the suggestion in the CGT section before posting here. Thanks for looking into it though
And I didn't know about the global channel. Thanks for letting me know!

This is great guys
I'm extatic that that I only have to use one username and password for everything.
Now if there were just something that would track all of my Invention Salvage I would be in heaven. -
I don't know. It kind of lost its "sense of urgency" to me after the 10,000th time of continuously popping up on my chat window. Too much of anything is not good.
Now, if it had only happened, say, once every 2-3 hours, that'd be another story. -
I am so much happier with taking the alerts off the ADMIN channel. At least this way I can choose to see it or not and it no longer gets in my way if I'm not interested.
Thank you devs. -

But if an announcement must be made, I'd prefer new tech that didn't put it into chat channels at all but rather put it into an unobtrusive icon that would blink when an invasion started. Click the icon and a pop-up alerts you to all unfolding invasion events. Close the pop-up when done. Simple. And if you ignore the icon altogether it automatically stops blinking after a few moments but changes to a different color (not RED) to note it has "unread" messages.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think this is a great idea. One addition I think would be necessary is that once an invasion in a zone has ended, or if you log off, that message would automatically be deleted. That way you won't have 15 million messages lined up when you click on the icon to see which invasions are currently happening. In other words, don't keep a history of past events. -
This may not be a Vista issue. Sounds more likely that it could be a Firewall issue. Please post your issue in a separate thread with your dxdiag and hijackthis info.
-
Does this workaround still allow you to have extra commands in your shortcut (i.e. - renderthread 1, - compatiblecursors 1, etc)?

So how soon until someone starts up the posts of 'Please run without your trenchcoats/wings/capes for the time being, to help reduce random crashes of everyone, TYVM!'?
Seems like it'd be a worthy goal, try it out for a bit, see if it helps. Anyone want to sound the alarm?

You don't go to the troubleshooting forum much do ya? .... -

Still am not sure if anybody who's having the problem is using a non-linksys router, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have been having this issue and I do not have a linksys. I believe I have a D-Link wireless router (I'm having a brainfart right now so I'm not sure and I'm at work so I can't check atm).
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm using a linksys router and DON'T have crashes... is that what he's looking for?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is not an issue with crashing. It's the issue with getting out of sync with the server so everyone else sees you standing still not doing anything, and you see yourself moving around like nothing's wrong....until you can't open a door, can't zone, or the NPC store is missing. -

The Out of Sync issues are becoming unreasonable. Please check into that after implementing the crashing fixes. *points up to VoodooCompany's post*.
Also, the organization of salvage in bins and with worktables in it's current state makes it almost impossible to craft items (or even know what you CAN craft) in a reasonable amount of time - to the point of not wanting to do it at all. *Points up to Hellguard's post*. Please look at this as it will become unfathomably worse once invention salvage is implemented.
And thank you for trying to figure out these crash issues. -
I knew Monday was gonna suck...just didn't know how much
Ah well, good luck at your new home Cuppa. You'll be missed. -

Nor do they change the rating of the game by allowing players to kill helpless civilians.
[/ QUOTE ]
But they sure do get in the way of targeting.. hell if we can't KO them or something then why make them targetable at all. Not to mention MM pets go bonkers around them.
[/ QUOTE ]
AGREED! If we can't attack them DON'T make them targettable! That kind of thing is NOT fun and reeks of looking like a bug.
If you do leave them targettable, can we at least knock them around a bit (not hurt/maim/kill)? Pretty please with sugar on top? I just want to be able to knock them outta my way. Call it revenge for pushing my hero around.(i.e. set it up so when it comes to civies, all powers affect them like knockback/dizzy/holds/etc, whichever's appropriate for the AT)
P.S. Please choose the second option - that's more fun! -
A few things I'd like to see:
Be able to hit citizens
Be able to knock out building windows and start fires
Be able to completely destroy the police department . I mean, I want to blow up the file cabinets, the radio equipment, the desks, the phones, the windows, the lockers, and the computers.
I want to be able to break into their weapons locker and steal their guns! Maybe make it so I have a 1 minute temp power pistol/shotgun.
Also, I want there to be DONUTS laying around the police department that I can eat!!! What kind of police department doesn't have donuts?! I think you should be able to click on them and get a little extra time, or health, or maybe a temp -slow (they are, afterall, unhealthy for you), or better yet - a little Prestige because you had the guts to eat them and really tick off the coppers. I don't care, I WANT TO EAT THEIR DONUTS ! ok...I'm ok now...honest... -

I'm still using 6.1 ('cause 6.3 kept crashing me... ATI Radeon X800). And letting the program run FSAA and AF did nothing to stop the alt-tabbing crashes. (And it's not just the 'alt-tab'; even minimizing one program and opening the other will cause a crash about 25% of the time.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Enable your Fast Writes in your bios and your CCC. I did a lot of testing/different settings with 6.1-6.3 drivers with an ATI 800XT and I'm 100% certain disabling FF causes this problem (or is, at least, a major player in causing it). I had this problem frequently with it disabled and have never had it with FF enabled. Now that there's no performance degradation, might as well make the game more stable for yourself. -
I think it decreased. I'm getting about 20-40 fps outside, as opposed to 30-60 fps. In the mission it's a little less (low 20s or lower sometimes as opposed to 20-30s), but tonight was the first time I was on a team with a fire blaster since I changed my settings originally so I don't know if that affected it. Basically, nothing I can't live with as long as it keeps my computer from freezing up.
I always feel like the framerate is a little slower if I have /showfps on, so I typically keep it off. (At least, it makes me feel like it's faster with it off.)
-
The alt-tab lockups, or the lockups caused when just switching between programs in Windowed Mode, definitely seems to be affected by the Fast Write.
ATI X800XT
Running Catalyst 6.2 and 256M AGP Aperture size:
With Fast write OFF, I would get lockups - even keeping default settings on my ATI CCC Settings. I tested this by switching between COH and MS Paint. Sometimes the lockup would happen right away, sometimes it would happen switching between the two programs within 10 tries.
By just turning Fast Writes ON, I didn't get any lockups. I tried switching multiple times and no computer lockups.
Now to reset the rest of my CCC settings. -
Positron,
Would you mind answering a few more quetions about the storage items if you have time?
1)
Will the Salvage storage be connected to the Workstation in terms of (this item requires this much and you have this much available in storage) and will we be able to create items directly that way?
or
Will we have to go look at how much salvage something will cost, then go to our storage unit and collect that, then go back to the workstation again?
2) Also, how much Power and Control will the Enhancement and Inspiration Storage units require?
3) Will these Storage units require their own rooms or will we be able to place them in rooms that are already likely to be in our base (i.e. workshop, control room, generator room)? -
[ QUOTE ]
Costs for a 10-slot inspiration bin? 1million!
Cost for a 10-slot enhancement container? 500K!
[/ QUOTE ]
I really, really hope they don't cost that much. I'll be very disappointed. Can't non-hardcore/smaller groups have cool stuff too?

Is that some kind of swipe at me?
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering the word is 'incomptence', not 'incompetents', yes, it is a swipe at you. Considering you were not attempting to say that more than one Gm is incomptent, hence incomptents would be correct.
Suckle the irony.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? That's what the word should be? Interesting...never heard of it.
Edit: Really, this is a stupid argument that has nothing to do with the thread. Why keep arguing about it? -

Couple clarifications.
....
I did locate a small bug, which is now fixed internally. Essentially the streak breaker would not become active until you landed your first hit (so you have to do it yourself, no freebies). Pretty minor in the grand scheme of all things accuracy-related, but it's fixed now regardless. Note that this bug affected players and non-players alike.
[/ QUOTE ]
This explains some of what I've been noticing. I think this bug typically affects me the most right after I've added an enhancement in my power and use it as my first attack. It seems like it will miss most of the time (instead of hitting most of the time). Then I just keep missing for a few attacks.
