  1. oh. I always zone in random spots. I thought this was a feature of bloody bay. I've only been in on the villian side.

  2. my point of view is this. CoV PvP is not a good as it should be. It is not as fun as it should be. Other PvP are far better IMO.

    There are many reasons for this. This game was not designed for PvP. When they change the game to make PvP better, people freak out.

    Screw it I say. If we are going to have PvP, make that the goal and balance the mobs againt that. Make it as good as soul caliber or Halo and I'm in.

    COH PVP is lame in my opinion, some like it sure. But if you go in bloody bay and \whoall then go in some other zone and \whoall, do a little math and you will see that the masses have spoken for PvE.

  3. Take a deep breath and relax. If you think the current PvP system built by COH is the perfect PvP system, I would disagree. I love PvP games.

    Soul Caliber, Halo, Far Cry, darts, pool, cards, Guild Wars..........

    CoV PvP just does not stack up. I think Cov is the best PvE game I have ever played.

    I'm not sure that it is possible to make a great PvE and PvP game that lives with the same rules.

    If you could make PvP require the same skill and same fun factor as Halo, then I am in.

    At the moment it feels like grief fest 2005, even when I am winning. I don't mind getting taken down.

    I don't think blindly applying PvE rules to PvP is working very well.

    disagree if you want, but try not to be a jerk about it, doing so only proves the point that you are a grief monkey.

    I'm just trying to add to the discussion with my point of view.l

  4. I think the problem is not one shot exactly with PvP, but with the feeling that you are getting greifed and have no chance to win. No one wants to play "you win, I lose" over and over again. Some of the things that contribute to the problem are

    -one shots by stalkers
    -tp from hospital
    -hero/villians inside the hosptial
    -TP foe out of hospital into trap
    -caltops/trip mine/tp trap

    At each encounter there needs to be some kind of chance that either side could have victory otherwise you feel like you are being griefed and will refuse to play in PvP. COH/COV was not designed from the ground up for PvP like games such as Guild Wars. Plus states and the others try (?) not to make changes just for PvP. So this makes it hard for PvP to be fair in this game.

    I don't know what could be done to make these encounters more fun.

    I have some suggestions.

    -Across the board damage reduction made to other players. AS will still deal the biggest wammy, but won't one shot even level players. Maybe this would be implemented as damage resistance VS hero/villians or something like that.

    -1 HP rule vs Alpha strike. I'm not sure how this would work. Castle mentioned the 3 trip mine exploit that would make this hard to patch.

    -Something else that no one has come up with yet.

    Something has to be done to make PvP more fun. I like PvP, but I don't like to be abused or abusive to fellow players. FPS require some skill to take down others. COV/COH feels more like paper/rock/sissors.

    There has got to be a change that can be made to PvP that will not destroy PvE. I just don't know what it is.

  6. i looooooooove playing hte brute. I didn't like scrappers or tanks in COH. but fury is about the most fun thing that I think I have ever had to play with. building up the furry, trying to keep it up as you run from group to group is so different play style.

    Just remember you are not going for alpha strikes. you are trying to manage the fury so you can give big SMASH.

    I think Accuracy is more important to slot than damages. more damage is always better, but before you get SO acc, slot heavy on accuracy.

  8. best to start a power a little under powered than over powered. No one screams when you buff, everyone screams when you nerf.

    As a general MMOG rule of thumb, error on the side of hard out the door and buff on player response.

    As I remember it, Mr. E. was discussing a few ideas in the context of animal or pet sidekicks, i.e., an animal sidekick would start out at level 1, and the character would fight alongside said sidekick to raise that level. I think he may have also mentioned auto-exemplaring down to the animal sidekick's level, but don't quote me on that.

    Mr. E. also mentioned, as I recall, that they were considering implementing ways of acquiring temporary powers outside of missions and the arena. I wouldn't be surprised if this became an alternate use for the universities.

  10. as a long time web monkey myself, thank you cuppa for working so hard with the COH players.

    As a word to the angry players, relax. slow down before you vent. people get stung easy. try hard to not get upset so fast. mistakes will be made by the devs. give them a break. they are not out to get you.

    eletronic communication is an art. try to be kind to others because it is very easy to come off the wrong way. when someone does come off the wrong way, try to not let it get to you, tone is very difficult to write. There is a reason why there are so few truely awesome novels coming out every year.

    1) The reason why you have CM is specificially because other players don't have the equivelant. Kinetics and Storm have similar anti-status powers, but they still need you to protect them. Why shouldn't the reverse be true?

    2) If we give some defender sets mez protection, how long before all the sets demand status protection?

    3) The whole point of not having status protection is to present interdependencies on teams. My defenders get mezed ...but if I have good scrappers and tankers, I still won't die. They see I'm down, they protect me. Same goes for blasters and other defenders. The more weaknesses we have, the better the team has to be in terms of playing like a "team." So many people ignore that and simply want to destroy an dependency they have on other AT's.

    If you want complete self-sufficiency, play a scrapper. Don't like that scrappers are the only one who should be self sufficient? Well, what happens to the game if everyoen is as self-sufficient as scrappers?

    oh, no fellow defender friend. I don't expect or need a change to my lovely defender. help with status is my "wish" not a demand in any way.

    As far as self-sufficient? even with help on the mez, my damage output is well.... less than solo fun. I'm a team player who eats disp until my belly is sick.

    It would nice if the power pool mez protection was a tiny bit better or something like that.

    But please, no big changes to defender. I don't think it is needed. we are neither uber nor gimp

    Funny, sounds like Blasters, the "long unpaid attention". Oh wait, that's what we're supposedly posting here about.

    Don't even give me word one about Defenders not getting any love. Defenders have problem powersets. Blasters have AT-wide problems. I play a Dark/Eng Defender as an alt. We have NO problems as Defenders that compare with Blasters as a whole.

    You want to talk about Empathy/FF needing more solo love, sure. You want to talk about Storm needing PvE work, sure. But don't give me word one about Defenders being ignored. Heck, I'm having trouble figuring which GOOD powers to fit into Dark Miasma, the more so with Tar Patch changing on Test.

    I have to agree. Defender is not optimal solo AT, but it is not designed to be that.

    If I could just use clear mind on myself, that would be my only request. In high 30's getting chain mez'd is a pain in the [censored]. My team gets nailed sometimes for it. When you are always on top of the buffs and heals, then all of a sudden out of action with little warning, it can cause trouble.

    All in all, I think defender is fine. Some help with mez would be grand, but I think DA and blasters REALLY need the help. Would be nice is not the same as borked.

    I'm not sure that this says anything new. I think the feature update web page as more details actually.

    Also when asked states says, COV "this year" That is about all we could get out of him. We even sent the cutest girl we could find find to chat with him. Still he would not give up the details.
