  1. Grav was taken slightly by surprise: it was one hell of an illusion, very subtle...
The time for questions had ended: Time for action.

Bringing her powers to play, Grav lay down a Gravity Distortion Field (mass hold)

She then pauses a second to observe in the effectiveness of the field: The Quantum Strongman had to be held, if need be with an other Gravity Distortion (hold).
But a Dispersion Bubble (+def-all +res-stun, disorient, hold, immobilize) would be a close second choice...

I propose we craft some kind of spirit vessel, using dark magic to place Wordy and Jen's spirts inside!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you would... and so would Hiki...

While you're at it, make one for me?
  3. Indeed, if 50 members al start to add their personal items (for a lot of prestige) I can see that hindering progress... More SG politics in tha making...

And broad, to answer your question: Clicky
  4. Not bad, not bad at all.
I like the way they overlap, making it more of a whole then lose images.
I paricularly like the frog at the bottom, where did you see that ingame?

    Teleporters

    [ QUOTE ]
This of course makes perfect sense since we earned the salvage, earned the prestige to get a workbench up and running, used our earned salvage to make the components and finally used those components to make the item. Why wouldn't we then have to pay a ludicrous amount just to move an item we already own from our inventory into a room? It all makes absolute sense, really....to someone....somewhere....who needs a bloody good kicking!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can make sense of this... apart from the ridiculous amount...
The cost is what you'd pay a specialized crew to install the system... and hook it up and calibrating it.
Now if your SG has a tech nut that knows it's way around machines, that completely voids this argument, appart from a little wiring...
  6. Although I'm not sure this is what you mean...
When editing my base, and then exiting the base builder, I've noticed that most of the 'new' items can't be seen.
THey're there (because I can run into them) but I can't see them.
A quick out and in always fixed it for me.
Mind you, I've only had the pleasure of dealing with decorations, so it is possible there's something else going on.

My advice: Go out of the base and then back in again. If the item is still missing, send a Bug report, and perhaps a petition to (get a GM there), though that might be a bit much.
  7. I read through The Bad Seed, and loved the feel of the comic
I just haven't gotten around to the others.
  8. Grav got up, and brushed herself down a bit, taking the time to formulate her response:

"Not really. This is Saphire, but... She... I'd best let her explain."
  9. With my Grav/FF controler, I've filled the roles of Controler (Duh); Tanker and Blaster.

What roles have you mimiced with your build?
  10. Grav's mind was working furiously, trying to find a way to prevent the collapse, preferably also of the portal.

A she was about to work her magic to reinforce the ceiling and hope to mend it to sufficient strength, she was surprised as she was grabbed by Saphire and being carried through solid brick and earth to safety.
  11. I've been thinking of making an other vilain.
I think it's more than likely that I'll be teaming or duoing with at least one Brute.

So my question is... which AT works best with a brute?
  12. Ghost

    hello

Ah, those wonderfull first steps into the world of RP...
I remeber mine from not so long ago.

RPing is just that: Playing a Role.
Make responses and act as your role (or character) would.
This can be as simple as commenting that your drycleaner's going to kill you after this zombie/sewer mission.

But it can also be as complex as you want it to be, for instance... hydrophobia (fear of water), which would make a sewer or cave mission a real nightmare...

Basicly, in it's simplest form, it's dropping game mechanics (XP, debt, that sort of things) and RL stuff from you (regular) chat. Other than Out Of Character (OOC) things like brb and afk or what not that helps the team (when on missions).
Most RPers I've met use double brackets (( )) to mark text as OOC, in order to avoid confusion.

I would also advice you to read this RP Guide
That should answer most of your questions.
If you have more, then just post them here, and someone will most likely give you an answer.

    And lastly: have fun!
(I know RPing increased my fun in the game by a tenfold)

I know I've worked hard for the house I bought in Ultima Online. I was very proud of my home.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Out of interest, how long did it take you to get that house? I'm interested to see the comparison.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A month of 'powergaming' or gold herding got me a decent sized plot, 2 weeks later I could afford to buy the first floor. One month after that I finished it (4 floors in all).

Then it took me a day or two to get most of the furniture in (handy whn you're the crafter).
It took me a lot longer to get the material for the high end furniture, an other month I think.

So all in all, the building itself took me 2 and a half months of playing 6-12 hours a day...

    Solo base/lair

I've played a bit of EVE on the side, and when I mentioned I was a CoH addict, I got the response (from an ex-player) that CoH doesn't have any long life things.

And from what I read on these boards, I agreed with him. Though I haven't reached 50 yet, and was enjoying RP. No reason for me to actually start looking for something else to do.

Now with Bases (especially if you want a solo SG base) you have something to work towards. That goal is sometimes just what you need to ignore the grind that you feel from time to time (what? are you saying that's just me?).
To push forward with that shiney (or gloomy, or what ever) base you have in mind.

That said, I do think that some scaling would be welcome:
Basic stuff a little cheaper, advance stuff expensive (maybe more so, I don't know)

I know I've worked hard for the house I bought in Ultima Online. I was very proud of my home. Would I be as proud if I hadn't put so much work into it? Probably, because it turned out just right.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
So... here I am, a new player, and I want to find roleplayers. Where do I go look?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Allow me... to basicly prove your point...

    Hi, welcome.
Union is the 'unofficial' RP server, so your best hope for roleplay would be there. There's also RP on Defiant (and I assume the french and german servers aswell) but can be hard to find.
In fact, RP is hard to find, even on Union.
On Union we have a nightly meeting. Heroes (and vilains and citizens) come there for various reasons. The main one being to unwind, or share/gather information. Come to the Galaxy Girl statue in Galaxy City, behind the Freedom Corp building (the one with Backalley Brawler standing in front of it) and say hello.

If your character isn't the type to go to a cassual meeting and you can't find one to 'stumple' upon it... My advice would be: RP... RP always.
You have a chance that others will join in, you might even find some 'regular' RPers.
  16. I've found that GG has little OOC speach... sure some comments, but those mostly revolve around BRB, AFK and Back comments. The others are often enough funny (to me atleast).

Maybe it's me, I tend to skip a lot of what's going on when I'm there. Mostly reading what I think matters to me and my character, skimming the rest lightly to see if there's some surprise interaction with my character.
  17. <Grumble> Bloody tar-patch interupts <Mumble Grumble> Stinking bloodsnifing zombies <mumble> Bloody ACC-debuff <Grumble Mumble>
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Damn straight I did! This is a villains thread!

And, oh yeah? Any time.... Cindy and Grave.. Arena.. Friendly little scrap... I know who's going down...

    [/ QUOTE ]
    As do I
and those zombies will follow soon enough!
  19. [ QUOTE ]
EDIT: Ooooh! You sneaky little.... You edited your post to make it look better and didn't mark it as edited!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    And you ruined it!
I'll get you for this, FFM! I'll get YOUUUUuuuuuuuu
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Then be in Port Oakes this evening after 6, and my zombies will relieve you of your loneliness... Forever! BWAHAHAHHAHAHAA!!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]
I can think of a few ways that will work... and that disturbs me.
Must have spent a little too long in FFM's mind...

And I can't say that being buried alive in a cramed space with a couple of stinking zombies for company is my idea for fun...

    edited for my own sanity...
  21. Part 4: Freedom?
    ----------------

The flight ended, and the Crimson Fox found herself with her new partner the Grave Mistress on what turned out to be Fort Darwin on Mercy Isle, of the Rogue Isles.
The payment for the flight soon became evident upon talking with Kalinda.
Chores, chores to determine their worth and to further this Arachnos’ agenda.

The resources of this ‘Arachnos’ could probably help to advance their own agenda. So after repaying their debt, they stayed.

Carving their way through traitors, rivals, diseased fools and snakes, the two soon earned some standing with Kalinda.
However, having been sent to clear out two bases that had been overrun by Hellions, the first doubts about this Lord Recluse, and his Arachnos his organization reared it’s head. Because they were not in a position to do anything about it, yet, they decided to keep their eyes open. They didn’t want to become victim of mismanagement and might be able to take advantage of it in the future.

During the course of the tasks, Crimson Fox got to know the Mistress a little better. It turned out that the one she was after was in fact one of the protectors of the ‘Peacebringer’. Their goals seemed to coincide more than it had appeared at first.

Word that a spy for Longbow was in the area, Crimson Fox and the Grave Mistress thought it a good idea to have a little chat with the man. After all, he must have some information on what was going on in Paragon, perhaps even on their targets.
The Spy had purchased the protection of a bunch of Hellions, at least now a few dozen more did that name justice…

Left alone with the spy, Crimson Fox started asking questions…

He knew nothing of interest. He was screaming the truth, Fox was sure of it. She herself had screamed silently with him, only the need for answers kept her scream silent. And it had been in vain. The spy had no knowledge of Paragon more recent then her own, and no knowledge of the Peacebringer Eloise Smith. At least that was something, she wasn’t such a high profile ‘hero’ as Fox originally thought.

The Grave Mistress offered to do the interrogating for now. Fox was grateful, the questioning didn’t sit well with her. But she would do what was needed to avenge her family.

True to her word the Mistress interrogated the second spy they caught. Waiting outside, she could still hear the screams. Flashes of the previous spy ran through her mind. She almost missed the Family Gangster’s approach, he certainly didn’t notice her. The gangster walked up to the door from where a blood curdling shriek erupted.
Readying his machinegun and getting ready to bust the door down, he suddenly stopped and stared in wonder at the sword that was sticking out of his chest.

As Fox was dragging the corpse away, the Mistress stepped through the door. The smile on her face was the only thing that wasn’t there before the interrogation. Not a drop of blood, not a hair out of place… yet there were still sounds coming from behind the door that Fox didn’t want to think about.

The Mistress had more success. Even information on the Peacebringer. It seems she’s gotten into some trouble with some of her protectors, might even be enough to drive her away from this ‘Cirque de la Lune’… sounds like a bunch of lunatics, but still, a lone target is an easy target. Especially if it doesn’t hide.

The Mistress knew more, and was enjoying that knowledge, Fox would get that later. She had time for now. She would allow The Mistress her little secret for now, she seemed to be true enough on her word.

Eventually, after a busy first day, The Grave Mistress and Crimson Fox went in search of a safe place to spend the night, preferably more if it was needed.
After some searching they found an abandoned, rundown apartment which they entered through a skylight window.

The place had been cleared out, completely devoid of furniture, except for a run down bed that clearly didn’t fit through the door. It even had running water, though no hot water. It mattered not, a cold bath can be invigorating.

The Mistress offered Fox the first bath, and heated the water with her magic. While Fox tried to cleanse the filth from her body and mind, the Mistress turned her magic touch to the rest of the apartment. She even conjured up a towel for Fox.

As Crimson Fox got dressed, the Grave Mistress completed her inspection of the apartment and conjured up some basic furniture. Even the kitchen was functional enough, though it lacked any food or supplies.

Crimson Fox offered to go out for them, and to keep an eye out for a fence. They needed cash, and some gems they ‘found’ would fetch a tidy sum. As Fox fastened her hood and veil before climbing the rope back to the roof, the Mistress had walked into the bathroom. She commented on the state of the water, that Fox must have needed that bath.
She responded that she had been worse… outside? yes, inside? no.

With that she climbed the rope and was on the streets of Port Oaks in no time.

    ---------------------
This is as far as we've gotten.
I don't yet know if this is the final part. Maybe it is, maybe it's not... we'll see...
  22. Part 3: Breakout
    ------------------

    Yes, that was what happened…
She woke up about 15 minutes ago. Dressed in a prisoners uniform, ink on her fingertips… but no one with questions. It mattered not, she’d gotten her prey.
The sharp pain! Cindy Fox examined her leg, there was a bandage around the calf of her right leg. She removed the bandages to inspect the wound. Her own blade had cut her as she was loosing consciousness. Even if the amount of curare was small, she should feel some of it’s effects, unless someone had administered the antidote.
If they used the antidote on her, they would surely have used it on the ‘Peacebringer’. Peacebringer… Cindy Fox would bring peace to the Peacebringer allright, and her own life.

But to do so, she would have to get out of this... situation. In the two weeks since she’d been back, she read about a few breakouts. Clearly there is a way out, it just needed to be found.
As she was examining the door of her cell, a loud explosion shook the walls. Moments later her door opened. Stepping back into a corner she waited a moment for possible assailants, listening to learn what was going on.

“I hear they dragged a cutie into this cell, let’s have some fun” A rough voice called outside her cell.

“Yeah, it’s not like we’d make it out, might as well have some fun” a second voice responded.

Fox waited, and three men entered her cell. They didn’t see her in the shadows in the corner. The biggest inmate bent over to look under the cot. The other two just stood there, to them, that was the only place to hide.

Creeping up to them Cindy gave a simultaneous blow to the neck of the two standing thugs, knocking them out cold. Before they hit the ground, Fox landed a kick on the kneeling inmate, leaving him curled up in agony.

She made her way out of her cell, sticking to the shadows as much as possible and found the locker room with confiscated possessions. A kick to the throat quickly dispatched the thief that was trying to open the chest with her name on it. Another kick smashed the lock and she searched the contents. They had already searched her room, and confiscated her Katana and school uniform. For once, this was fortuitous.
Discarding the orange overalls she dressed herself in the robes of the Crimson Fox, the name she had earned after years of training.

Donned in her robes it was even easier to fade into the shadows, with her katana ready in a moment, Crimson Fox followed the flow of inmates. Assuming it would be the way out, but mindful to keep her eyes open for other possibilities.

On her path, a guard had just beaten back several inmates, and was blocking the doorway. Her only path out, her only path to vengeance.

The guard didn’t notice her, all he saw was the quick flashing of a katana just before it cut through his neck. Fox was already through the doorway by the time his lifeless body hit the floor.

A sound of a shuffled foot made Fox turn. A woman stepped from the shadows. Tight leather clung to her greenish skin and revealed a somewhat skinny build. But it was not her body, it was her presence that made an impression. This woman moved with an eerie grace, like a queen in her court, she was sure of her abilities and expected obedience.

The confidence of this woman was so… overwhelming that Crimson Fox didn’t move as she raised her hand. A moment later a wave of cold yet warm and soothing energy engulfed her as she heard the sound of metal hitting the ceramic tiles. Fox turned and saw a guard had collapsed.

This woman had just saved her life, not knowing why, Fox nodded her thanks. After a slight pause, the woman began moving towards the expected exit again. Crimson Fox moved as well. She owed this woman her life, the least she could do was help her. And there is strength in numbers. Working together almost instinctively they made there way through the inmates that had less direction, only violence.

That vehicle appeared to be the way out, with luck they would be able to operate it. Carving their way to the vehicle Fox noticed a small group between them and it. This fight would be a lot harder, but it was a fight she would fight. But to her surprise the leader of the vehicle group motioned them to board it without a fight. This would be a lot better than fighting their way to it, not even knowing what it was exactly.

It appeared to be a plane. During the flight, the strange woman revealed herself to be the Grave Mistress, even though the name meant nothing to Fox, it seemed fitting. The Mistress asked her identity. “Crimson Fox”, she answered. She owed her that much. But the questions didn’t end. Reluctantly she answered every question, it was hard not to.

The Mistress was also on a quest for her family. Together they both had a better chance of reaching their respective goals. The Mistress seemed honourable, in her own way.
Should things go sour, she could always set out on her own again. But for now, she needed allies. Ellie had allies that protect her.
  23. Grav opened up a Wormhole (teleportation, knockback and disorient) in the PP's path, the exit point picked so he would be smashed into the wall near Grav and Saphire.

She had acted in reflex. Not taking into account the events earlier on the day. She realised this just as she cast the spell.
Luckily she was once again able to summon Sig to her aid, positioning him close to the exit wormhole.
