    HAMIDONE!

Another key element of the victory - my controller (and everyone else too I'm assuming) had 12 accelerate metabolisms on him all the way through the entire holding phase so people's holding contributions were maximised

    HAMIDONE!

There were 34 unhidden in the Hive at the start of the holding phase (I can't imagine that many more had time to turn up before it was all over)

    HAMIDONE!

Congrats and well done to organisers and participants - that was one smooth raid

Well the PI bugs happened before the raid even started.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, as a lot of the raiders couldn't assemble due to their characters being stuck

no, they are thinking about the possibility of changing it, it was not a bug and was by design as backed up by statesman

Ah, I was working off the PMs from _Castle_ in THIS US forum thread which indicate that the dev team view the power's current unrooting functionality as not being intended.

EDIT: All I can find from Statesman about Whirlwind is this quote from back in April of last year:

Statesman, could you tell us then why anyone would want Super speed?

    [/ QUOTE ]
One - to get around town VERY quickly.
Two - to get Hasten - one of the Best Pool Powers.
Three - to get Whirlwind - an attack that's very underrated

Doh! I made my scrapper a spines/sr first day but re-rolled him to /inv because I was afraid he'd get squished. I wasn't planning to PvP with him when I made him so I wasn't thinking about the advantages of +perception Oh well...

Personally I love fighting against stalkers in Sirens - it's actually the reason I've started to play more PvP with my Claws/SR scrapper. Nothing beats the feeling of stalkers repeatedly missing with assassin strikes, and then knocking them on their [censored] with Focus. Plus, Stalkers are one of the few things Claws can actually kill quickly without having to be buffed to high heaven. \o/

    Fixed to reflect personal experience.

Personally I love fighting against stalkers in Sirens - it's actually the reason I've started to play more PvP with my spines/inv scrapper. Nothing beats the feeling of being assassin striked by a stalker and then defeating them before they can finish me off. I enjoy the challenge of running around trying to spot the stalkers and keeping mobile so they don't take me down easily (I don't have tactics so I have to rely on the IR goggles). If there are 2 or 3 stalkers working together as a team then it's even more fun. Sure, I may be defeated a lot in certain circumstances but the occasional victory keeps me coming back for more.

Edited to add - I always go solo in Sirens so it's not necessary to team to have fun in the PvP zones

    Spines?

Afraid not. From _Castle_ on the US forums:

    Claws 1.00

    Katana 1.05

What about tanks and scrappers with epic holds? Will they be asked to contribute during the holding phase?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. We're trying to keep as few people in the bubble as possible, to try and reduce lag. Part of the reason we're failing is because we are getting lag spikes and hamidon is breaking free during them.
    2. Tanks have Punchvoke/Gauntlet. If too many of them are doing too much damage, hami aggro will be taunted on the hold group. This is bad.

Tankers and scrappers will get a Hami-O as long as they get their hit on hamidon during the brawl phase.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, I'm not worried about the tanks and scrappers not getting a HO - I don't think Defiant has ever suffered from Union's early problems of people not getting HO's. What I'm worried about is the raid failing due to lack of holding ability. I'm on a better machine than I used to be so I can't comment on there having been bad lag at the last few raids - I'm sure there was (I do recall that in the post mortem following a recent raid (the most recent one?) it turned out that the raid leaders had decided to not wait for one more use of Vanguards because people were suffering from lag). I just think that epic holding tanks and scrappers should be asked to be on standby to aid in the holding stage if required. Btw, you can disregard guantlet as a concern for tankers helping - one of the US servers ran a test recently where they had 20 tanks all out attacking Hami and they couldn't draw Hami's aggro away from the one tank actively taunting Hami. If the gauntlet of 20 tanks throwing in constant attacks isn't an issue then I'm pretty sure a hold every 10 seconds from a smaller number of tanks won't be an issue either. It'd be a shame to not include a contingency plan for using the scrappers and tanks if we find ourselves short on holding ability

    Invul scrapper

Have you added many slots of end reduction to your attacks? Slotting an end reduction into an attack will help you a lot more than slotting a second end reduction into an inv toggle
  14. 10 buff icons is the most I've ever counted on my controller from a single Fulcrum. Teaming with another kinetic and both of you doubling up your Fulcrums does make for a very full screen though

Heh, I think that anybody on a patrol mission is supposed to be attacked though, otherwise what would be the point of patrol mission in a PVP zone if not the danger of being attacked? I mean, you even get a badge out of it..

    [/ QUOTE ]

My thinking was that they were probably doing it for the temporary stealth power. I enjoy fighting stealthed foes so I was happy to let them continue on their way

So I guess it's impossible for people to use their head, and to be respectful to other people... It's apparent that kids today has to do anything that is possible for them to do, as long as it is entertaining to them and it gives other people grief. As long as it's in your OWN PERSONAL best interest, OF COURSE you HAVE to do it...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Impossible for people to use their head? Not at all, as can been seen from my post where I said that I WOULD respect a dueling pair's decision to fight it out amongst themselves. Likewise if I attack a villain and see that they're actually fighting NPC's I will do my best to back away. Yesterday I attacked a mastermind just as they clicked on a patrol telephone. I backed off and let them at it. I'm assuming that there are plenty other people in the PvP zones who would do similar things. But giving other players that much space to do their own thing is not a requirement of the zone. People are well within their rights to attack anyone else within the zone, no matter what they're doing at the time. Feel free to petition if you feel the actions of another player in the zone are against the rules but I think you'll find that a lot of what you're complaining about is YOUR personal preference for how the game should be played in the zone. Just because someone else plays different to your preference does not make them a kid out to cause grief
  18. Generalissimo

    goofing off

Attacking two people who are dueling isn't griefing, it's PvP'ing and is well within the rules of the zones. It might not be your personal flavour of PvP but it is allowed none the less. If I see two people dueling I tend to back off and let them at it, unless one of the pair attacks me. That's a personal choice made by me though - an equally valid choice would be to run in there and throw all my attacks at which ever of the pair I'm able to attack. If you want to duel in the PvP zones that's fine by me. Just don't expect everyone to leave you at it.
  19. I've had good fun the past few days in Sirens doing some PvP with my spines/inv scrapper Splortch in between doing the missions. The funniest thing I've had happen to me so far is being terrorised (can't remember by what AT it was) and then having to wait to be attacked before superspeeding a couple of hundred yards away, jumping behind a hedge and then spending the next 20 seconds in the terrorised cower hoping that nobody saw which direction I went. I've had to do that a couple of times now - good fun

    Spare Time?

I sometimes go to Atlas and speed boost the lowbies if I'm a little bored with missions. If I'm really not in the mood to mission I would generally log and watch a movie

Overall, probably Ice primary and Mace/Axe secondary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. I've seen one Axe and one Mace in my time in CoH.

Edit: Btw, they're not bad sets or anything, they just seem out of favour in general.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Mace is a bad set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would happily play another mace tanker from 1 to 50. Mace is a good set at attracting and holding aggro. It is also a good set at mitigating damage through the use of knockback and disorient. It is however a poor set at dealing damage and it is also a poor set to solo with below level 20. If someone was starting a new tank and they wanted to build their character as an aggro-attracting, aggro-holding team protector then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend mace to them. If they wanted to build it as a damage dealer I would laugh and tell them to look elsewhere.
  23. I think I was just unhappy with the character as he was so the attack chain thing felt worse than it was When I re-rolled him I picked up Jump Kick and that filled all my attack chain holes right up

OK, here's one more vote for the "get it as soon as possible and 3-slot with recharge"-crowd - I try to take it and slot it ASAP on all my MA scrappers and stalkers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I took it as soon as possible on my MA scrapper but couldn't deal with the lack of an attack chain that resulted so I rerolled and left it much later the second time around. Having said that though I took build up on my spines scrapper pretty early and am coping fine with the lack of attacks so I probably would have been ok with my MA scrapper if I'd given it a chance.
