But what rly upsets is the fact, that as a single target oriented character you just dont have the right tool to support your team effectivly against hard mobs / aka AVS GMS etc.
And as it would fit the theme better than any other set out there:

Give poison (in weaken or envenom) the -regen value it deserves.

It cant be that other supportoptions grant more for the team on single and on massfights, whereas poison just shines at fighting bosses.

And if you are at it: Give alkaloid the rezanimation and make it pbaoe (hmmm...i can dream ...cant I?)

Final statement: Make posion a viable option for even the numberboys, not just the /puke animation lovers (in fact that is where you find me...a puke lover).
I can support this because it should excel against hard single targets.
  3. I can get behind that argument. If the stipend is 400 points and the powerset costs 2x of the stipend, that means a VIP has to wait 2 months to obtain a power set. I think waiting one month is reasonable enough. :P
  4. I don't think re-skin is possible given Rocketboard stance isn't the same as the magic carpet.

I am very happy with the Paragon market up to this point! On the side topic of powers and having to buy them...I really don't care for the new power sets released all that much. For powersets that are newly released they are too gimmicky. At least with Dual Blades that came free from an issue. :P

I am not spending 800 points on gimmicky power sets.
  5. Knockback isn't a gimmick and the ability to switch to fire ammo is amazing for teams, or wanting extra damage.

Dual Pistols swap ammo feature I feel is a lot better than dual blades combo system that has way more flaws. I wish it freed up a power slot though, but that is a minor quibble.

Definitely making a Dual Pistols/Poison Corruptor now.
  6. I would love to see a revamp of old set bonuses and sets honestly.
  7. CE I love! I don't try to AS after placate but yes crits are possible if you are quick enough.
  8. Not many sets can offer protection against an AV. I don't think that is a bench mark to gauge Poison on.

But looking at other sets, (Sonic Resonance, Trick Arrow, and Force Fields) Poison has a lot less throw away powers from my view.

Poison's -regen needs to be bumped up though if the devs view that the signature debuff of the set.
  9. I don't see throw away powers in Poison other than Elixir of Life, which a lot of support sets have rezzes that are considered optional if you have room. Between Paralytic Poison, Poison Gas Trap, and an another hold from primary/epic pools that is a lot of control at your disposal.

I am really tempted to try a DP/Poison corruptor now. :P
  10. Traps is a very good solo set, but it requires significant slot investment for it to be fully realized. On teams, Traps isn't hard to use, but I agree it is a challenge if you are trying to lay down a mine or two. Surprisingly, the reason why I shelved my AR/Traps for a AR/Sonic Resonance Corruptor was because I wanted to blast more, and keep up with fast moving teams (shield teammates, put anchor on teammate, occasionally sonic siphon hard target and then go to town).

Yes you can solo without mez protection, but it is a lot more slower than the AT that do have mez protection in that level range.
  12. Dom - F/F Damage, damage, damage
Stalker - DB/IA Durable, and a nice flow of AoE attacks
Stalker - BS/Reg Interesting single target burst, regen requires being proactive rather than reactive
Corruptor - AR/SON AoE machine that is sturdy
    Defender - Traps/Rad - Debuffs galore
Controller - Ill/FF Lots of pets and control tools

Team-wise, they would both be the same, both are heavy team support sets so they would level about the same.
    Yes worse than Sonic.

20-30 is when enemy NPC's start to mez and Sonic Dispersion makes it a walk in the park while with Thermal it is like playing a blaster without a melee secondary, but less damage. Non root heal is nice in a pinch but that can't save you honestly when mez is flying around.

Sonic Dispersion was ported to Thermal? :P

Thermal's key debuffs are nice, but they come much later (even much later on Corruptors). Unless you have a concept in mind leveling a Thermal isn't easy 1-30.

Paragon points are allocated 1 business day after your renewal day. Mine was the 19th of December, so I received my points on the 20th.

Reward tokens are allocated at the end of the month.
  16. I love being a VIP, but then again I am not a tier 9 vet, so the choice isn't so simple.
  17. Most of the geometry holes were fixed in PVPzones, but there may still be one. That is a bug that should be reported fixed as soon as possible.

Then, you PVP these vandals when you see them in a PVP zone.

There is no holy trinity requirement in this game so a niche strategic role is a non starter for the way this entire game is built. Stalker are not the only AT with this identity crisis, and in fact are better off than Blasters as an example.

Actually what separates Sonic Resonance from FF is the debuffs. Biggest problem with FF is the lack of debuffs.

Sonic Resonance is more refined than FF because of this, but still needs a diversity of debuffs like Traps, Time, etc bring.

  21. I don't understand the gnashing of teeth to be honest. I have been an MMO player for over ten years, and the rogue/stealth "class" has always been underplayed regardless if they were extremely potent or under powered.

The appeal of Stalkers is the strategic and tactical feel of the class which is why I gravitate to similar classes.

Stalker don't need an overhaul, because even with one, they would still be the least played archtype by a wide margin. Some view the toys and stealth as gimmicks while others like me relish in using these toys.

A big reason why some people just don't understand how awesome caltrops are. Either you understand or you don't.

These proposed changes hit all the good spots. A big plus for sets that utilize +HP, more single target burst damage to continue the tactical feel of the AT, and the ability to leverage crit.
  22. I don't think Sonic Resonance needs better shielding, but being more diversified like other sets, which I think we all can agree on is a must.

Thermal I consider superior at debuffing than Sonic Resonance because of this diversified approach. Sonic Resonance excels at -Res, but that is all it is capable of to do so consistently.

As for HP+ buffs, I do not think that makes a difference if they don't bump up HPs for Stalkers as an example.

Yes, you really should balance a buff/debuff set without assuming it will pair with something else, because in manymany cases it just won't be. Heck, the other night my sonic/sonic was with a brute, no other pairs for it to be 'balanced for.' How do you balance radiation emission for when there is a team of all controllers/ defenders/ corruptors steamrolling task forces?

To be blunt, you don't. You balance for when it's radiation emission on its own. Same goes for sonic resonance. Let's stop thinking about it when stacked with a pairing because that's not a given. I listed the (perceived)weaknesses and possible solutions for them for sonic as a set, on its own. Feel free to point out flaws, bring up differing ideas, but saying a buff/debuff sets' performance is fine because it's great paired when paired with another certain kind of powers is not reasonable until such combos are mandatory.

The reason I say this gets into a different topic entirely is because it goes to how overpowered stacked buff/debuff sets are in almost any propensity in this game, which was something Castle brought up when looking at groups like repeat offenders and all radiation superteams. He concluded there needed to be some kind of diminishing returns calculation on all buff/debuffs, but he didn't want to have to stave off the pitchfork wielding players, so he left it alone. This actually gets to another set- trick arrow. During testing it was common to have a team of all (or almost all) trick archers, and the abilities were downgraded, adjusted in reference to some of the experiences from all trick archer player sessions. As it turned out, the set was weakened but then had more issues when it was alone as the team's lone buff/debuffer.
I disagree with Castle and diminishing returns approach as it ruined PVP, which is why PVE is more enjoyable and no power set feels singled out.

What was the secondary of the brute? Did the Brute benefit from your presence yes or no?

Don't forget with IO set bonuses, resistance is harder to obtain than defense, so the argument Sonic Resonance is the worst shielding set doesn't hold up to well.

And finally, I have never played an MMORPG where an AT/class is balanced around in a vacuum as it must be balanced around what other AT/classes are present.Yes MMORPG's have become solo friendlier, but the core of balancing and end game focus is on teaming.

I don't really see the point in arguing against peoples ideas. If an idea is flawed a Dev would/should see it in a split second. Also in my experience Devs almost always do something slightly different or completely different to what people suggest. I think that's good and when its actually really good I know why they're getting paid to think up these things and I am not.
A spirited discussion is always welcomed.

I agree that in a complimentary role, sonic resonance is quite powerful. But if it is balanced according for anything but what it and it alone can do as a powerset, then you start having issues with performance. As such what it can do for a defense based melee AT is as relevant as how much mitigation it can do with a control archetype locking things down, or with some other archetype healing shielded allies. I'm sorry, but what a team member is bringing is not reliable. Sonic resonance has to be looked at on its own.

Is sonic resonance good? Yes. Is it as good as other shielding sets? Unfortunately not, by virtue of layering mitigation. With each different layer you add in variety, you greatly increase utility and survival. Sonic resonance is just very focused on +/- resistance, but is not substantially better at those in most cases, nor able to back those up with disruptive debuffs/controls/etc, outside of liquefy (long recharge) and repulsion. (requires ally in range, drains endurance to nill with ease) The other shielding sets can do what sonic can pretty well, and more besides. Again, not a bad set, I've never had anything but appreciation when on a team with my sonic character. I can just tell quite well that if I played another of my buff/debuff sets, in many cases the team would be safer.
I don't see how it would be balanced if you improve Sonic Resonance shielding and then pair it up with (lets say Time)another. That would be way over the top.

As for Thermal, it is not that good of a shielding set, so lets not oversell it. Thermal is more superior debuffing than Sonic Resonance, and the non root heal is money.
