#1 - Blasters have the highest ranged damage modifier in the game.

#2 - Blasters with the majority of there sets get Build Up,and Aim,giving a huge bonus to there damage, without the aid of a buffer.

#3 - Blasters can be buffed for added damage on top of there damage modifier,to obseenly high levels.

With just those 3 reasons, they slowed down 2 of the fastest firing attacks in the game, just so a blaster wouldnt be over powered, atleast not without having to take steps like Hasten,or Recharge Enhancers.

Allowing a Blaster to fire of Rad Blasts as fast as a Defender can causes a problem that i can visually see,and thats prolly why when they gave it to Blasters, they slowed it down.

A Defender doesnt hit very hard with Rad Blasts...AT ALL..(Speaking from experiance, had a lvl 39 Rad/Rad defender on old account). They did however fire very fast, which was one of the pulls that lead me to play a Rad/Rad,that and the green color that couldnt be changed.

Just a example,a Blaster can do a dual self buff cycle, raising its damage over 150%,now if you put into account the high damage modifier...Bosses wouldnt stand a chance, nore would most mobs if you where firing off rapid fire Neutreno Bolts as fast as a defender could...causing a massive amount of damage just with your teir 1 power....Some EBs and AVs would be taken down and be a utter joke if you nailed it with 10 hits of 1 second recharge Neutreno Bolt that did say,150 damage each shot, not to mention if you hit with the first one,the rest wouldnt miss due to its def % debuff, which would make it even stronger, because even with Aim + Build Up,you can still miss a target. Now lets add a team...someones Buffing your damage output, say a EMP Defender just Fort'd you, then say theres a /Rad Controller or Defender on this same team, and say they are going after a AV,or a EB,Bank Mission,TF,whatever, and they just Debuffed the Big Bad,and the tanker runs up to hold the agro...ok...those 10 shots of 150 damage now become say...250 each blast using Neutreno Bolt, that would mean 2,500 damage from a single 1 teir power using the Defenders Verion of Rad Blasts, from 1 Build Up + Aim Cycle. Then if you wanna get more technical, you could actually boost that damage to around 3000 if you still had 1.5 recharge for the N. Bolt, and the 4 seconds recharge defender version eye beams(forget the name of that power, been a while.)Making that Boss,EB,or AV,a complete joke, and the Blaster wouldnt have to take more then 1 or 2 Blast powers...mainly the teir 1 and 2 powers, and would be safe from most mob agro, because he is dropping everything he ST attacks to quickly to really harm him, hence why i say it would be over powered.

Its not hard to understand, its just that people dont "Want" to understand.
except as pointed out in previous posts, Nutrino boxt and eyeball lasers had their damage improved to compensate for the rech nerf. If the recharge wasnt toned down, these skills wouldnt do as much damage as you are making claim of.

Its better this way, free damage. there's enough global recharge availiable to really close the gap in our recharge speed differences, but adding global damage only widens the line for you.

at first the trade off between recharge and damage seems to be more for less (or less for more), but that is before you considder animation time, which is like recharge that ignores buffs and enhancements.

I like Sonic/Devices. Safe soloer, and solid teammate, though your secondary will be more or less ignored on teams. Sonic/Energy is a good choice as well.
sonic/en is good, PB+-res is gut (PB, afaik but i dont know too far, boosts this secondary).

    Web nades help tanks

elec/en PB/SC stops mobs in their tracks, hands on knees style.

whats a good vil group for a fire blaster, so I can keep my eyes out for ezxp on the scanner.

Recently in Florence, AL... they closed the shelter because the shelter manager AND the night volunteer quit at the same time. Yet, the OFFICERS OF THE SALVATION ARMY couldn't inconvenience themselves to do some work and keep the shelter open. Luckily, one of the few good posts (Huntsville, AL) had people volunteer.

I can tell you, based on the local group... greed knows no season or boundry. I will NEVER donate to the SA ever again.

For an organization that is SUPPOSED to be based on Christian ethics and charity, I find they are a poor, poor example of both.
I could care less about SA, just the human condition in general that I find revolting. id explain further but ima wait till morning, im tired...
  9. Like I said to lucky

"WHAT THE [Censored] YOU GOTTA BE [Censored] ME WITH THIS [Censored] [Censored] [Censored] [Censored] [Censored] [Censored] [Censored]" -My response to my alarm.

Im straight pooped, my body cant even control its temperature any more. Great run of it tho. went from 12 to 226 merits, merits are about the only good part of the magus onslaught.
  10. oops, sorry for lack of specificity there.

Gearford will be playing Gearford, a 49 (will definately hit 50 early into the run) Elec/WP/Mu brute.
  11. im like 1.3 blue bubs [tee hee] away from 50, im pretty sure ill catch it on the raid at some point.

I thought my scrapp would have been better for ST damage than my elec/wp brute... I forgot that Gearford has frankenslotted attacks =P
  12. the only ones that seem like they are a fit for you are WP, SR and SD.

WP you said youve tried already and arent feeling.
try SD with a few other primaries and see if itll fit you
SR definately has the whole "very effective without tons of inf" thing down.
  13. K then, ill bring gearford. good chance to get him 50 (4 bubs w/patrol for all is like what, 2.7ish bubs)
  14. Hrmmm.

Ok, I can take Gearford 49 elec/WP brute or Sehll 37 claw/elec scrap. I know the brute seems like the obvious choice at first but with elec having "uber-(un)1337" ST damage the scrap might do better for pylons. plus I want merits on blue side (not sure if you get regular merits or just vangaurd ones)

Let me know which one will be optimal and ill bring em.
  15. Flaming Web-Man

    Lvl 15 Fire/Dev Blaster

*man... I gotta get up off my *** and level!*

put me in team with E, so i can pull the whole "This could be our last night on cox together." I was talkin about [wink]
  16. JAM

Oh and oil slick/ignite is a pretty elite synergy. lots of prep work with a glue arrow, sonic, acid, + maybe a freeze/emp to hold the boss type, but the damage of a double ignite patch is friggin epic.
  17. im in this cool SG and VG called Nothing and its got an awesome co with this S/VG called The Forums and im in all these channels like broadcast and local.

I have no issues finding teams, I can get into a team even faster if i get off my lazy [Censored] and make one.
  18. I have entered scrapperlock conditions across multiple non-scrapper ATs

I remember once on my Brute, I was playing with a lower level team fighting lower level mobs in one of their mish's. after a while Im getting bored of preping and pulling -1s so im like "[Censored] this [Censored], im going to the next floor."

so im running through this arachnos base, it keeps going and going and going, im tagging everything so my team wont get attacked. eventually I REACH THE BOSS (apparently there was only the one floor) and im like "oh snapple" cause I was expecting to go through a vator and not have to fight them. I did a double take when I realized my team stopped for the 1/4-1/3rd of the map that didnt stay on me.

A couple purples, some red, 1 green and a LOT of CI/Ball lightning/JL/LR later and everything is dead. then the corr runs up and healing flames' me.

On my en/traps corr I was part of a team where this /stone brute was saying we should let him tank. Im not saying they cant, but we werent slowing down just to rub some guy's back a bit and play the game EQ/WoW style. I was trying to explain that in CoX, especially vil side, characters are a lot more self sufficent and there wouldnt be need of a dedicated tank for anything but the hardest of encounters, and that he might have better luck with pigeon holeing himself on blue side.

So we get into an encounter with plenty of dragon enforcers (we were on a paper mish against tsoo) and... what are those guys... iron hands guys, along with other melee types. the brute decides to grab the rest of the room and leave the team, and my team starts to drop off. Im only like what, 16 or so which means im not exactly toting soft capped melee or s/l defense. Before you know it im the only one left, folowing my typical solution for squish which is to play the pve like its pvp, jumping around like a young grasshopper kung fu master slinging web grenades and caltrops all over the place while knocking [Censored] back with my laz0rzs of 1337. every corpse on the floor is like "you can do it!!!" and im making wakies and BFs as I kill trying to get people up before I jump into a set of trops that arent mine and get my [Censored] kicked because I loose speed and jump which is all thats keeping me alive. Eventually people start coming up and we get it all under control and I receive a tell from the team lead:
"Maybe next time you will learn to appreciate the person keeping your *** alive" -[I forgot the brute's name]"

my ego was so swollen that night...

just to clarify, the leader sent me the tell he got from the brute.
  19. I aint dead yet!

    cant wait till monday.
"You know, E, this could be our last night on cox together *puts arm around shoulder*"
    its gonna be epic

    thats a big fish!
  20. Well, as I usually say with the loss of my fiancee and job (no call/no show for a month in a coma does that) times have been rough. Even with my job I wouldn't have been able to keep the 1/1 in Boca we shared (950 for a 1/1, only in Boca) and even if I made the money for it my name was not on the lease. With no job I live back in the poverty striken home of my upbringing.

I was able to find a job in August of 09 but that was ruined when my service in the USMC(R) was brought up and I was told in no legally certain but no unclear terms that I would have to choose between them when my "re-up" window came.

I do not have the fiscal means to continue a sub, all of my little money goes to support of this home and family, which did not fare well with the houses main bread winner (my dad) losing his job and being down for 8 months after being in the same accident I was in with seemingly perfect timing for the economic colapse. My last day is the 12th and I wish the best to all until my eventual return.

Hopefully it will be sooner than later, a good friend of mine tipped me off to the security firm that got the federal protective services contract for the area. They hire 90% ex/reserve military for this field, With me having a combat MOS (0621) and 9 years Nisei GoJu I think I stand a pretty good chance of getting snatched up. I have a diverse reference list (teacher, friend who gave me the tip that is former air force and in the fed prot service field now, Staff sergeant, A [Censored] MAJOR WHO WORKS WITH CONGRESS!!!, and a cop) I think the biggest thing, however, is that based on my classes for the D and G security licenses I'm in the top ten % simply for speaking english.

So wish me luck too, 21 p/h starting at the entry level isn't anything to sneeze at and I really, really reeeeaaallllly want this.

E-Man, fun grouping with you, as always. I was worried when I came back for this month that most of the players I knew had left, it's good to still see someone I've played with.

Turg, I would normally tell you that you can't leave because I need to see that kitty, but I copied the pic to my computer so you're free to go.

Luna, I will get 50 on Gearford before my sub runs, my promise to you, use it as an example of conquering fear for your husband.

The rest of you, I hate you and hope you get a horrible Crack of X addiction so there are plenty of people to team with when I return.

    o i c

well, definately not gonna make it I just havent been putting my heart into playing lately, so im still low
  22. everyone was dying, and I hadnt yet so I was like "[Censored] yeah, man! I'm so good at this game, its like I'm [Censored] invincible!" as I jumped into a mob I didnt realize wasnt getting attacked... one of those deaths are mine.
  23. looks like youve got 8, but if tux dosent show up ill take the spot.

    Gearford - 49 elec/wp brute
  24. Gearford

    Fire/Dev

So im gonna scrap my EN/Traps vil in favor of a Fire/Dev hero. Ive got most of the power picks sorted but there is one tough cookie, I am planning on using Flare/FB/Flare/Blaze.

In order to work this, I will need 250% rech on FB, ~200% on Blaze, and ~110% on Flares. This leaves me with a need for some 153-155% global. In the rough build idea (I never have a to the letter plan, I dont use mids) I have cloak dev, CJ, Maneuvers and the ice APP armor (assuming the wikia is providing correct info.) to put LOTG recharges in(7.5x4=30). Hasten is I think 70%... where do I make up the 53ish% im missing, I cant right off the bat think of meaningful set bonuses.

I can get away with deci in Flares maybe since by my calculations it wont need recharge past the global anyway, maybe I can get away with 5 piece apoc in Blaze, and 5 piece regnarok in FB. I guess I can try to take tactics and put adjusted targeting.

thats like what, 32.5 more global there, cept I want to find a way of doing it without 2 purple sets lol.

Not even sure if this is even possible...
