Hi,
One of the things I've really been digging about the past 2-3 issues is that it's given me the impulse to blow the dust off some of my mothballed 50s and really give them a good look at how they can be made better.
Below is my Brute, or at least how I intend for him to look when I'm finished IO'ing him (this could be a while, I'm not the most intense marketeer). I know there are probably some things I could do to wring more efficiency out of him, but I would like to keep the powers I've got selected unless it's absolutely necessary.
As far as the Incarnate stuff, the Partial Core is where I want to end up, but this guy is so far behind the curve that right now all he's got is the T1 ability there, and nothing in the other slots (heck, the other ones aren't even unlocked yet).
Any advice anyone's got to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Quote:Dechs, I'm curious. Do you eschew Diamagnetic because your guys are already maxed on Def, or because you find one of the other two simply does something you like better?Very much this myself, except I prefer Gravitic. Or Paralytic. I mean, I have Reactives for when I solo, but every character builds something useful to a team first.
-Gate -
Far from it. The way I figure, since everyone and their cat slots Reactive, I can go with something else and not worry that I'm the fifteenth guy whose Interface isn't putting anything on the table because it's stacked over the cap.

Gate's Shameful Admission of the Week:
I've played a MC Dom since the day Issue 6 went live, and I only realized Mesmerize will get Bosses in one shot even w/o Dom like, a month ago. I think I just convinced myself it *couldn't* work like that, so I never bothered to check.
Derp-dee-der!

Hi,
Two points. First, thanks to the OP and all the contributors to this thread, which I found just as my alt-crush was coming back to my badly-in-need-of-a-respec Fire Dom.
Second, a big thank-you specifically to Obitus, who was kind enough to help me revamp my build. The pieces are falling into place, and it's looking good so far. I really appreciate the help!
Have a good weekend, everyone.

End, to me your post was merely symbolic of a type of post that seems to recur on this forum. I didn't reply to your thread because I was specifically not trying to single you out.
That said, if you're that adept at working the market, my sympathies are limited, as 1) you likely have the means to afford these pieces, 2) you know how the market works well enough that you ought to have seen this coming.
That said, all I'm trying to say is exactly what Organica was getting at. Sources exist for the things you want, in a manner freely accessible to all. If being a consumer is too expensive, turn the tables and produce instead.

Okay, pardon that channeling of Johnnie Cochran, now on to business...
Every time I see a post complaining about ebil marketeers taking the circuit boards from the mouths of hungry casual gamers, the folks doing the complaining give me the impression that they only ever buy at the market, and never sell. I mean, if I'm selling off the things I don't need, it stands to reason I ought to be able to afford the things I do need doesn't it?
If you're strapped for cash to the point that 100k is too much for you to pay for a Circuit Board, Odin's ravens man, go punch Freakshow until they cough some up!
-Gate -
I think Adeon and Puce have it right. If you don't like the character, that's one thing, but don't stop playing him just because you think you're expected to not like him, if that makes any sense.

I'll freely admit that I have no idea if this set "works."
But I can guarantee that I'd have a good time finding out. With about 4 or 5 different offense sets, you know, to be thorough.
My only nitpick is that I wouldn't even try making this into a Stalker set. Maybe it's just how I envision Stalkers, but I can't see their playstyle being compatible with the "eye of the tornado" you've got going on here.
Nice work, Dechs.
-Gate -
Quote:You apparently have a pretty flexible definition of "never." Not ten posts above me is a redname saying a fix is forthcoming. It hasn't been fixed yet.... So he could still have it right. In fact I think he does until they do fix it.
I feel that "always" and "never" are words that the Language Gods gave us for laughs. I never use them, as they always seem to lead to trouble.

Quote:Not quite.Ok so if Im understanding this correctly ladies and gents, if when I unlock it, I can get Cardiac Core Paragon, I'll get 20% resistance to my resistance powers, which factoring in 2/3 ED bybassed, should mean an additional 13 or 14% plus a bit of change, of resistance?
Which would mean with the SO build I got now, my exotic resistances shoudl from 32% to 46% which is a hell of a good hike upwards.(If I got that right)
But lets not forget the endurance reduction accross the board which on an invul / SS would be flipping handy no question I mean, it means you can keep slugging away.
Each of your resist powers will see c. 13-14% more enhancement of their resist values (or more, if for whatever reason said power is under the ED caps). Not a straight addition of that amount to your resists; a huge-ish difference.
-Gate -
Quote:I see that point often made in the context of discussions about defenses and incoming damage, and I'm just not sure I've ever bought it. Proportionately, yes, 3% more resists stop a bigger piece of incoming damage when added to an already-high resistance relative to a low value. But the actual amount of damage stopped, as measured in HPs, is the same either way.Now the problem is, as you can see in my above example: The further you are from the resist caps, the less valuable these added points will be. In the case of invulnerability's exotic resists, going from 20% or so to 23% or so doesn't chop off that much, proportionally speaking, of the remaining incoming damage. If you were going from 87 to 90, those 3 points would be a lot more signifigant.
Put another way using a different example, softcapped Invuln is so well-loved because the amount of damage you actually take gets reduced down to a pinprick. But you are then told that if you only get yourself to 40% def, "You'll take twice as much damage." What I've found in my experience is, if I can withstand one pinprick, much more often than not, I can withstand two just fine.

Quote:I find the Cardiac Radial to actually be one of the easier Alpha boosts to get. A ship raid and a LGTF run will likely get you the Common easily, and put you a good way toward the Uncommon, and who doesn't love punching Rikti?Im not sour on it, just, skeptical really. Given that its obviously a tremendous amount of effort to do the incarnate stuff naturally.
The numbers, don't really do it much justice, I mean, you can get that 2% out of an IO set quite easily rather than go through all this.
Good luck!
-Gate -
Quote:That is precisely the plan. But the 2nd Interface ability will likely not come until after I've got the rest of what I'm doing done in the other slots, and on some of my chars, Reactive will be the second ability, just so I'm not another guy bringing hot dogs to the picnic, but no rolls. Can always craft a two paths. Get that tier 3 Reactive for solo play where I am given to understand folks are reporting anywhere from 15-40 dps from the dots alone. Then make something else that is less widely used for team content
If your inclined to spend the time doing it that is.
-Gate -
Just humor us, and try it out before letting yourself sour on it. Cardiac Alpha IMO is one of that category of solid-if-not-flashy powers that punches above its weight.
-Gate -
Okay, so there is definitely a cap that the Reactive DOTs hit. Armed with that information, some of my guys will start out in some of the other Interface abilities, because I'm sure that darned near everyone will be loading out Reactive.
Thanks.
