I am finding my first Dom in 63 months really squishy, I am playing on +0 x0 players finding him really dying alot. (I've played a few controllers and they don't die so much)

Doms are even squisher than stalkers has anyone got any tips. Does this get any better.
My Dom is a mind\pisonic assault btw.

A mind Dom should be fairly easy to do, by level 6 you have all the tools you need to lock down a +0 spawn.

What i usually do is:

1) Confuse the Lieutenant
2) Mezmerise a minion
3) Dominate the other minion

Then kill the dominated minion, dominate the mezzed minion and kill and finally dominate and kill the lieutenant. Depending how fast you kill, you may need to re-confuse the lieutenant before it's time to kill.

If any of your controls miss.... well that's what inspirations are for. Keep yourself alive until the control recharges and you should be fine.

Don't forget to use telekinetic thrust to get rid of anyone that get's too close.

I'm a fan of the dominators despite their squishness. Psionic and Psionic Assault is a rough combo until 30. This one took the longest to level.

Plants/Energy/Soul Mastery is Awesome Incarnate(tm) for a Dominator. With that combo, you are like a super duper Mastermind/Blaster/Tank (due to Carrion Vines tanking for you)/Controller

Are your personal hit points higher?

Some tips:

1. Use Domination regularly. Don't save it forever or until you are about to die. If you just run out of domination before the final boss fight, save up your purple inspirations. With one or two purples, you can take down more bosses easily. Managing your inspirations is very important. Know your enemy's weakness. If you are fighting Carnies, save one yellow inspiration because they have higher defense against psionic damage (hence you miss more).

2. Always use the strategy, "hold one, attack another" and cycle. Mind control actually has quite a few tricks. You can Confuse one (no aggro) and hold one and attack another. If it's a group of one Lieut and one minion, it's even easier. At difficulty +0x0, you really shouldn't have any problem controlling first. If you are fighting CoT, you always hold/confuse the lieut ghosts first and same as Tsoo' Sorcerer. Once you know who to hold first, the fight ends a lot easier.

3. For Dominators to deal "good" damage, you should melee unless you are Fiery Assault with a well slotted Blaze (which won't happen until lvl 39+).

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

No. They are the same. But I do have a few HP set bonuses, plus the Invader accolade, which also boosts my base HP.

My biggest reason for recommending Plants/Energy is because it is real easy and fairly cheap to get permadom (for instance, plenty of powers that take KB sets, so you can get in 5 6 piece Kinetic Crash sets for a total of 37.5% global recharge, and 30% regen bonus and 15 points of KB protection on top of all that).

Remember that confuse isn't just a control. Confuse a minion to help you deal damage to a Lieutenant, confuse a lieutenant to help you deal damage to a boss. If you fight an enemy that buffs or heals, make sure to confuse it so it will buff and heal you.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

It's may be an obvious thing to say, but dominators should always make the first shot in a fight. If you let the enemy make the first shot, you can squish fast. You, on the other hand, can often make a first shot with controls that denies them further attacks. Control first.

Secondly, and forgive me if this is again obvious, but cycle targets. You're like that performer spinning plates, except instead of balancing you are making sure each enemy is under control or dead. One target starts becoming unglued, kill them quickly. If you can't, mez them, come back to them later, cycling on to the enemy you can take out fast. On dominators, target fixation will kill you.

Third, make sure all of your tools are being used. Mesmerize can put a boss to sleep in one shot. If you don't need to kill the enemy right away, mesmerize it and cycle on. Levitate will also instantly effect most bosses. It's a soft control to anything that can be knocked around. It's an excellent tool to stop immediate attacks from a target for a moment. Dominate is awesome, but lasts only so long. (especially at low levels) If possible, reserve it for the least mez resistant foe, tagging the higher ranks with confuse, which lasts longer. (Unless there's a better confusion target, of course. enemies that buff will buff you, confused summoners become a target for their pets, mez/debuff foes make fights easier for you, so use your discretion.) Mass hypnosis is the ultimate side group/opener power, allowing you to bypass foes, or tag them with sturdier controls one by one. Telekinesis is great indoors for repelling a group into a wall or corner, and it's a great one-shot toggle to go with dominate, to layer hold magnitude. Terrify is an impermanent immobilize, -attack speed debuff in practice, and re-applying sleep-like power. use as you need. total domination is a emergency brake vs. a group- fast to wear off, slow to recharge, but good enough for you to lay other controls down safely. Mass confusion is pure gold.

Oh, yes: mass hypnosis, confuse, and mass confuse cause no aggro. They're EXCELLENT powers to start an enemy engagement with, as they won't alert your enemies to your presence.

On the /psy side, subdue can hold a target in a place while you break line of fire, tk thrust is another knockabout, and drain psyche with enough targets makes you into a /regen dom.

Dominators start off rather squishy with few options other than 'moar damage'. Mind/Psy actually has a few more than average. Once you pick up your AoEs, Drain Psyche and your heavy hitters, you'll be able to do +1/0 easy.

Whining about everything since 2006.

Ammo switching for Dual Pistols was my idea:

Gate's Shameful Admission of the Week:

I've played a MC Dom since the day Issue 6 went live, and I only realized Mesmerize will get Bosses in one shot even w/o Dom like, a month ago. I think I just convinced myself it *couldn't* work like that, so I never bothered to check.

Derp-dee-der!

Embarrassed,
