It was kind of funny when I fought him, he (just like every custom regen character) activates instant healing as soon as the fight starts. Then I just killed the mobs around him, went and completed rest of the objectives, came back and killed him now that the IH had worn out.

As for the arcs, I'm not very impressed. The only reason I saw them through was because they were quest authotrs and I thought this would be something unique.

But yeah, you get that in any group that has not-normal-human members: Vahzilok zombies in Atlas and Galaxy doing their best Hannibal Lector impersonation, Troll bosses making epic speeches, and Council bots chatting casually with warwolves about the game last night.
    Yeah, it happens alot.

Hercules Titans telling jokes, PPD drones talking about being sick of patrolling etc.

I've yet to try that arc myself, but I know when I was working on mine I thought I saw a bug... but it turns out that certain stealth powers have a legacy effect (Unbound Leap was mine) which comes back on for about 5 minutes after the power they are in has been deselected. So if you are getting to the captive, but they keep losing you the moment you step a few places away from them, it's not a bug, but simply the NPC can't see you. Try disabling your power sets that have either a basic stealth component (Super Speed say) or an IO slotted which procs one, and either wait 5 minutes, or try and get to them with plenty of grace time to allow one to switch off, and see if it still repeats...

If it's something else you're having problems with, there may be a work around, or it was a one time deal... but I'm not aware of anything which would definitely break escorts forever.
When I did the face-off arc, the first mission requires you to rescue Great Face's dad or uncle or something.

It's set on the breakout map and you need to lead the captive to the flier, simple.
But it's not when you reach the flier and the captive refuses to acknowledge this.
You can literally stand next to the flier door with the captive for 5 minutes and nothing happens. I wasn't running stealth, the captive was touching the ******* door. The door had proper yellow distance figure and it was marked on the map.

Then I tried running him all over the flier, seeing if there's some contact sensitive spot that qualifies as target reaching the exit of the mission. I ran on the flier, I tried leading him to the nearby doors, tried leading him along the nearby walls.

    Edit:
    Read up.

I didn't know there were two NPCs, I remember checking the cells and I only saw one. Oh well.
I was just wondering when there was no indication I had lead the guy to the exit.

  5. I tried the Face-off arc.

I can't say whenever it's good or bad, because the very first mission is bugged and cannot be completed.
So yeah, wasted 10 minutes trying to get the captive to the exit.

    **** it.

Yeah, I agree with you there mate.

Pretend you get to pick a free car from Audi S4, Mercedes-Benz CLS and Datsun Sunny. But then suddenly the other two get taken away and you are left with the Datsun. At that point it looks rather ok for a free car, I guess.
The situation may not look like ****, but it sure smells like it.

Ok, ok. I´m getting distracted again, sorry.
But yeah, I agree banes need some work with the animation times and the redraw hell. Surveillance shouldn´t put away your weapons. Also the situation is more awkward for gunbanes. It´s no lie, I got normal bane build and a gunbane and I´m not a huge fan of the constant redraw.
Also the blasts are bit weak, excluding poison ray.

But about the survivability. I´m not too convinced with the current situation when looking at the other VEATs. Banes shouldn´t have to take bunch of pools to beef themselves up at the exchange of endurance. That´s a one thing.
The other is when you actually beef yourself up and receive a blow through soft cap. Banes do not have anything to get ahead of this.
But then again, that´s how I feel.

Yes, yes. With less effort than banes. They also get -def resistance.
How about the bane spider secondary, or without third pools? Just had to mention widows there.

Devs? You got a quote or you just talking for yourself?

That's right, banes are not broken, but there's still room for improvement. Things don't have to be OP or broken, there's more to it than that.

    Where's the lrn2play argument? I'm waiting.

By panic power I mean a power that could be activated once in a tight situation, ie. self heal or elude if you want to think like that.
I wasn't saying that the sets have self heal, I was saying that almost all of them come with some sort of panic power. Something to use when the defense fails, and it will.

Nope, too late. Already decided, banes will lose all these powers. They don't have them as NPCs so they shouldn't have them as playable characters. It doesn't fit the lore!

To be honest, I was just making fun of the logic that "because bane npcs don't do it, bane players shouldn't be able to do it either". So yes, it's a jest.
  10. But defense is what banes mainly have going for themselves, plus marginal resistance. That is if one doesn't sacrifice endurance to run pools available for everyone.
  11. I'm pretty sure I have never seen one use surveillance ,summon two arachnos disruptors or stab with bayonet.

Yes I agree that bane survivability should be improved giving them -def resistance for starters. I'd also give them self heal as a panic power which every defense set seems to have, excluding banes.

However I don't really understand why buffing one archetype should be done at an expense of another.

    Buff AR

Been some time since I played AR toon.

However, I'd give some of the powers end reduction. The set is rather heavy at lower levels.
I'd also give buckshot more range or damage.

I know they fixed up the animation times once already, but you still spend alot of time rooted.
They could have made flamethrower act like a real life flamethrower, after ignition the fire comes out fast as a violent burst.
Anyone who has played with aerosol and lighter as a kid knows what it looks like.
  13. That article was cool, especially the comments. When I first read it I knew it'd start a thread here.

However I can understand the guys complaints about CoH not using the superhero concept to the max. I'd like to see something different among missions aswell, as opposed to having generic maps full of enemies punching their arm in a menacing manner.
The RWZ mission with a conference was a step in the right direction.

Also he didn't comment CoV oddly, which seems to be stuck in the bad guys vs. bad guys phase. At times you really feel like an anti hero rather than a villain.
Especially the CoV SF's are bit miserable in this sense, the only conceptually good one is LRSF.

Yeah I knew it was every 10 seconds and +end, was just thinking because I didn't see any of the endurance related figures move or being modified, this was ages ago though.
  15. Oh yeah about stamina.
Does the performance shifter affect anything when slotted in the power?

I'm curious, I once got the proc as a drop and thought of testing it. I got the salvage required for crafting it and transfered my bane to test.

On test I played some random missions while tracking my max endurance, endurance and recovery for one hour and I didn't see or notice any changes.

    What's the deal yo?
  16. Looks ok. You're prolly doing this as an alt, so you're propably not using excessive amount of money on IO's.
My build is basically the same, cept I used purples on few powers.

I do have few different powers due to my playstyle.

    For example I took acrobatics.
I also skipped the buckshot, because (I haven't checked that power out in a while) back in the day it had poor damage with not-so-good range. There may have been some tweaks, though, I haven't checked lately.

I also skipped the shadow fall, because it seems it doesn't make a big difference for solo. For stealth I just go with procs.

I also slotted tar patch with couple of recharge IO's so that it would be up more frequently. I also put 5 slots in beanbag.

But yeah it looks good, I was just wondering how the tar patch and beanbag work without hasten.
  17. I got 2 AR/Darks, one here and another in Eu and I picked Mu for both of them.

I have tried GW, while it looks cool, I didn't notice any big improvements with the powers.

BS has good shield and aoe immob if you don't mind redraw (you could skip the redraw with a glitch which used to occur when you activate ignite immediatly after using the web.)

No comment for Mako, never tried it in the game.

Mu (just like the other patrons) has a hold to stack with yours that sometimes gives end and a shield that is decent especially now that you don't have to retoggle it.
But what makes Mu good is the end discount power, some AR attacks and darknest night can drain your endurance if the fight goes on for long.

So I'd say if you have no end problems, take BS, if you do, go with Scirocco.

    Halloween event?

By the way, I just realized. Why has the zombie invasion been going on the entire year? I thought it was a halloween-only event, it has sort of lost its charm.
  19. I just got off Freedom Cov and there were about 120-130 people on.
I tried to organize BSF, however out of 120 when you count the people who are at right level, replying, not busy and willing to do it, I had little luck getting it running.

Well we did the third respec instead with 4 villains. Was a fast and effective run too.

Think I just got to wait bit later for all those hundreds of people to /unhide themselves and come out of the mystical invisible void inside facemaker.

I hardly follow the game lore or clues.
But I have a feeling it has something to do with Reichsman being released in previous issue.
In ouroborous there's also a SF where you have to recruit 5th column lieautenants for Council. In the final mission Requiem says something about staying within Council ranks and waiting for a signal during his speech which he delivers to 5th column troops.

    Yes, that's the one.
Can never remember the correct name.
  22. I'm all for improving bane survivability. Be it -def resistance or self heal.
But not by giving up build up, It's useful for gunbanes out there, aswell as normal banes.

I'd replace the web hold or one of the blasts, but that is just me. Or just add a single new power.
  23. Sorry, but I got a small question.
I have rolled a lvl 6 Earth/Earth dom and I was wondering if they are any good or have potential? 'There's been some /earth posts, but I haven't found what the whole combo is like.
  24. I once thought of an idea for streetwipes, since they usually got this "go interrogate enemies for info" description.
Instead of "Defeat XX enemies" they'd have an interrogation bar that'd fill up.
You'd fill it up by "interrogating" the enemies. It'd kind of play out like glowies, it could be interrupted by activating power or by being attacked.

You would activate interogation (maybe a power that can be only used within the active mission) on an enemy and you could choose an animation how your character intimidates the enemy, flexing, pumping chest, holding at gunpoint, casting a spell, showing holiday pictures etc.

Just an idea I had once. You know how in games, movies and comics the main charactes have a tendency to go in and start offing bad guys only to leave a single survivor. Then grab the lone survivor and start barking questions.
  25. Yeah this reminds me of Cov.
The idea of being villains is great, but majority of the story arcs just pit you against other villains or doing things that are pretty far fetched.

There are some few proper evil arcs mixed in with mayhem missions, but I can't help but to feel the devs really can't decide what they want the villains to do.

Yet I still play CoV instead of CoH, oddly.
