A common problem - all players should realize that PvP on your own is NOT fun
[/ QUOTE ]
[color=green] Try not to invalidate my enjoyment of the PvP zones with your generalisations
[/ QUOTE ]
It's mostly the squishies I was thinking of - it can't be much fun for them to be picked on and beaten up by packs of Villians wihtout getting anywhere near the 6,000 bounty mark for a new SO
[/ QUOTE ]
For some of us it doesn't matterNot just because I have all the SO's I need or max rep but I do like to see how well i fair sometimes. Mostly its hopeless but as long as I'm enjoying myself and the opponents don't mind my lighthearted banter at them and they seem to be enjoying themselves. Heck I'll keep at it, usually til they are bored stiff!

I have never ignored someone ever. It's totally the easy way out. Instead, when someone bad mouths you for killing them laugh at them, or if someone bad mouths you after killing you - kill them back and spam sit emotes on them while yelling "Teabagged $target" over broadcast easy done.
[/ QUOTE ]
At that certain point someone new to PvP might enters the zone and what example does that set? Personally I've never used the ignore feature. Now I've never been victum of continuous spam either. I might get a few tells saying something stupid, but either they just get ignored or I respond back in a non hostile way and either the comments stop or a few idiotic ones follow after which I just dont bother reading them and the person usually stops, when you don't feed them. Like I mentioned, never had someone continually spam me with rubbish but was it to happen then I would use the ignore/petition feature.
I think its a shame if someone leaves due to another person(s) behaviour. It happens in mmo's and even more so in PvP due to the competitive nature. -
Well got up semi early as it's mothersday here. Saw a cake next to one of your post Plight. So happy birthday to ya and hope you have a good day and get what you wished for mate

People send mocking Tells? What's the point of mocking if the whole zone can't experience your triumph and your wit?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a question I'll leave to the expertsbut sadly it does happen.
Golden was a good example of fine sportmanship. Kept coming at us and seemed to try and get the best out of a bad situation and Max I'm sorry if Hans was your pet or Weismann's. I tried to bring him back to life but he was just to far gone, poor Hans he was a good soldier -
Thanks for the kind words SiX. It was one sided to the benefit of the villains at that point and as such I saw no reason to interfere with the heroes strugling to get out of the base. I like a challenge, I go for that very reason and for the fun PvP can spur.
I was hoping the villains would get bored with camping the base sooner then they did, so didn't make the switch to heroes for a while. Best thing to do when it's like that is either to try and stick it out or take a breather, I know that can sometimes be a drag if you're in that PvP mood (I sometimes get). Had you stuck around though you'd probably have enjoyed yourself a tad as heroes finally got the upper hand and I switched back just to get pwned.
The whole stalker deal drives me nutz as much as anyone. I do sometimes wish there'd be a bit more support for myself there but ya know, sometimes you do alright and others you just don't stand a chance
The 'bragging' etc. can become a bit over the top and does on several occations. Best to do is either ignore it or counter it with some light hearted banter. I get plenty of tells like "hahaha die" etc. when being defeated by 3 or more in a group. Usually I'll respond with a "Well that didn't go like I'd hoped heh" or "Heh well done" or something to that effect. Sometimes it works and you get a friendly comment back, which is always nice, other times they just keep at it but then I just ignore those tells and concentrate on the battles.
I'm rambling, so I'll leave with a thanks again for the kind words and hopefully you'll be coming to a PvP zone again soon
Oh and Irradiator I think you're being to modest
- Dearch -
To add a bit more, I too have experienced teaming with so called 'blaster' corrupter. Once was teamed up with a */thermal corrupter with 3 powers in secondary and rest in offensive etc.
lvl 40 I might add
It's sometimes hard when making teams as you do expect some type of support when you invite a corrupter to a team but that is not always the case as I've experienced myself a few times -
Well I considerer my Ice/Rad corrupter a controller/blaster hybrid
-
Their site really deserves to be listed on the fansite alliance page. It's an excellent website and deserves it as much as those already listed.
-
Even with Ice/Rad as your combo you'll have problems taking down a good regen scrapper. You'll lack the endurance to take his/her health down for the second time before their heals are back up.
-
Well don't really know you but had fun going against ya in sirens the last few days as Dearch, so congratulations to ya!
-
Good story Thorny and as Twisted added it makes for a more well rounded feel. Made my time playing my main character a lot more enjoyable because i had made a story for him.
Don't worry about feedback, if you enjoy writting stories keep at it -
Maybe not but you have a good understanding of protecting and staying with your team mates when I played my corrupter Dearch
-
Little late but nevertheless congrats Chesty
-
LOL!
Oh I'd recognise those shorts anywhere! Figures nicey would be foolish enough to cross beams -
with the little knowledge I have of sonic it looks good to me. Besides if you play it anything like hazmat I'm sure you'll do great with it
-
Well I won't be there as subs been gone for a while but congratulations chappers on your 30th b-day
Also a big grats to the both of youhope everyone has a blast in Pocket D
-
That didn't take long. Well done and grats to ya Ecs
-
Funny enough I've never had anyone have a go at me verbally. Possibly due to my poor pvp skills
You should always expect a certain amount of banter, even bad banter cuz it happens quite often actually. People get to worked up sometimes on defiant. Don't know how it is on union so won't comment on that. You can choose to ignore the foolish few and have a great time with the others that are there for the fun and challenge or you can join the foolish few...
As mentioned, don't let a few bad apples get you down. -

I love the arena. I am scared of PvP zones coz they intimidate me I think everyone is out to get me... and I play 'support' characters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well they areGoes for both though, arena and pvp zones.
Difference is the controlled enviroment of the Arena. You choose who and what you fight etc. -

Well this is pretty much the idea i had. To organise 1 or 2 nights per weeks in the next few weeks and assemble all PvP newcomers at Sirens Call hero base and Villains base respectively. Then spread the hardcore PvP players across teams with the inexperienced people and have some bashing going on maybe even at the hotspots for control of Sirens. While this goes on we can have the hardcore pvpers maybe helping out people and answering questions and providing help and tactics. At the end of the night we can have a "rookie of the night" award and maybe couple of more rewards for new players. Imho it can boost PvP attendance within the zones and bring more casual and light players to try PvP and get the adrnaline rush.
If people like this idea i can work out the details and make a separate thread with all details and maybe start promote it within game too as well as trying to set up something with VG's out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like a damn (can i say that?) good idea! Hope it pans out and good luck with it! -

If "spanking mode" got turned off for a short while, & some evenings of good natured fun & laughs can be had then I don't see why a lot more people wouldn't want to come along & share in it
[/ QUOTE ]
So true, I think if I was to step into pvp today without full knowledge of the power sets and how pvp works etc. I would find it incredible hard and would most likely get frustrated and turn my back on it. I can only imagine being a new person in the pvp zone these days... -

Just curious has the PvP just died on defiant
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I killed it
Problem with Arena is that you have to go to the arena to check on a terminal to see if any matches are going etc. If you don't check the boards or have arena chat on and lets face it, the majority of players dont use arena or these boards. The thing with PvP zones is well they are PvP zones and for those that don't feel like using their game time to setup matches can usually head there and get a little bit of action in once in a while.
Futhermore you can use the /search feature to check the zones for players on your side. Now if you somehow could check the arena terminals without going there, that might be useful.
I think most casual players and pvp'er use sirens and the other zones to fulfil their pvp needs due to the easy access and no waiting or organisation needed.
Personally I usually PvP'd late nights and sometimes early mornings. For that reason Arena does not work for me as a casuel PvP'er.
TG I would not count the Dagger Boys amongst hardcore PvP'er
