I remember many times playing my MM in RV and being pushed around by a FF troller or whatever using repel, kept pushing me away from my pets and drove me nuts. How much KB protection do you need to be immune to it in pvp 2.0?

I have 8 more IOs to purchase, then I'll be as ready as I'll ever be. Does ANYONE still pvp on test? Are there any ATs that are not welcome or scoffed at?

Quote:Thanks BABs, I've been looking for a new signature.I know that will get glossed over and 6 months from now someone here on the forums will make a statement like "Remember back when walk was crashing the mapservers" and someone else will say "Oh yeah, I remember that" and I will drop my face into my palm and die a little bit more inside.

One thing about building traps: Don't ignore the use of damage proc IOs. In my current build I enjoy using 6 in caltrops, 3 in Poison Trap, 3 in Acid Mortar, -res proc in my Enforcers and 1 in Provoke. (Yes, Provoke!) Just *do not* put procs in Trip Mine, Detonator, or Seeker Drones; based on my experience, they don't work.
Also, get a couple of KB protection IOs, you'll find KB to be really frustrating when you want poison trap/whatever to be here, but you're knocked back so it ends up over there instead. >.<
I'll agree with what's been said about getting +HP set bonuses, not much else to choose from really besides +rech, maybe +def if you can work it. Also, the pet +def and +res IOs also work well in Gang War. Don't be afraid to frankenslot, and don't ignore the HOs! You can work some really nice enhancement %'s which will leave you room for more procs if you use the Hamidon Origin enhancements, especially if you combine them into 50++.
That's my two inf, off the top of my head.

Quote:This thread got me thinking about boosting ranged def and what it would take, so I started playing around with mid's last night, and I was able to get Ranged Def up to ~34% without taking too many expensive recipes. Like so:Ranged def on a TA is a great choice. If that is the route you go I'd definitely take Flash arrow, it's auto hit and will give you ~5-8% def depending on what level foes you face. Getting high ranged def might be tough though. I'd actually consider trying to boost s/l def with scorp shield and IO's, but without looking closer at the combo it might be tough to boost s/l very high too.
1. 3 full sets of Thunderstrike in snap, aimed and blazing.
2. You'll have 3 holds to chose from, I picked 2 and gave them both full sets of lockdown.
3. You'll also have 2 immobilize powers to choose from, I picked 1 and gave it a full set of Trap of the Hunter.
5. Super Speed got Blessing of the Zephyr.
6: Stealth and combat jumping slotted with Def IOs.
I was able to get it up to ~40%, but it required taking Super Jump and Stunning Shot instead of the patron shield, and I didn't really want those. So I left it as is and walk around with a tray full of lucks and a few BF's and call it a day. This is just on paper, mind you...still have yet to test it.

Wanted to make my first Stalker for pvp purposes, settled on DM as a primary, was wondering what I should consider when choosing a secondary. I'm hearing all kinds of opinions from different people in-game = Def is great, def sucks, regen is great, regen sucks...although almost everyone I've talked to so far seems to think SR should be avoided.
Any thoughts? Both for zone and for arena, although probably zone more often.

Just wanted to say this:
Posi and friends, you can thank this thread for inducing me to buy the magic and wedding packs. I had skipped both earlier, and wasn't planning on getting the magic pack based on the initially posted pics, but then seeing what some were doing with them, and...yeah...
God I hate you all

I don't know how much experience you've had with playing Masterminds, but that's how Mastermind pets summon at high-level. 3 minions at -2, two Lts at -1, one boss at even-level. There's no changing that, it's a basic mechanic of the archetype. Having played two Masterminds to above level 40, I can tell you that pets alone does not a MM make. They also depend quite heavily on their secondaries to keep their pets alive, either through damage mitigation or outright buffing/healing.
Look at this from the perspective of regular gameplay. You go into a Villainous mission with your Brute and wipe the floor with Longbow/Arachnos/CoT/whoever. It was way too easy and you found it disappointing, so you up your difficulty. Now the MM is spawning at level 52 with level 50 minions, level 51 Lts, and a level 52 boss. Remember that this option is still available to people who play your arc; perhaps you could even suggest that they run it at a higher difficulty.

Combine that with what Arcanaville said about AV's spawning at the player's lvl regardless of the mish's challenge lvl, and it seems that if I want to maximize dmg, I should probably set them up to be EBs if I want high lvl pets. TY all, been quite helpful.

Sonic is a good secondary, because of the resistance buffs.
Pain Domination is another one, because of the AoE buffs in general.
Plant Control is the psycho option: carrion creepers means every pet you kill, you'll get another thing to fight. Even if you kill the creepers you get more creepers.
Also, in general MMs have lower offense because their primary is tied up in the pets. You could give the AV another offensive set with more teeth, like Fire blast or Energy Melee. But you may place the AV outside the ability for a large percentage of the players if you do.
If you're just looking to make it tough for yourself, you could also add Radiation Emission. You won't be regenerating nearly as fast anymore I can tell you that much.

All interesting ideas, I plan to try them
But what I was getting at, was: Is there any way to raise the lvl of the henchmen that the critter will summon? I made him a Ninja MM, and the henchmen were lvl 48-50, and they were skwishy as hell, really disappointing.
Strictly looking at the the summoned henchmen, what can I do to make those henchmen higher lvl / tougher / meaner / etc, or is this as good as it's going to get?

Ok I created a seperate thread about this question, but after reading this I figured I should just ask here (edited from original post):
I created a thugs/MM as the mish's boss. I was set to vicous (challenge lvl 3) and he was set as an EB. When he summoned his Henchmen, they were 49-51. I went back, set him to extreme AV, set my challenge lvl to 5 (relentless) and now he's a 50 AV, but the henchman summoned are 48-50.
How do I make the AV's and henchmen lvls higher? I know "I'm doing it wrong", I just don't know why.

I think the question you're asking is "why did my Elite Boss spawn at level 51, but when I bumped him up to an AV he spawned at level 50?" And I think the answer to that question is that except for special case critters (and custom critters aren't) AVs will spawn at the player's level, not the level dictated by the difficulty scaler. I believe that is a spawn rule the MA inherited from the regular PvE game where AVs in instanced missions generally spawn at the player's level, not the level the mission is instancing spawns at.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, that makes sense, thank you for that.
Now I'm wondering if there's anyway to get the henchmen to be harder to defeat? They're easy enough to kill as it is, and I was kinda disappointed in my custom MM's performance. I took my Axe/WP brute and just stood there letting all the pets + AV Ninja MM wail on me, and my health was actually going back *up* (I'd lost some health initially from the mob around the MM AV, but nothing notable at all from the MM itself, especially if the pets were down.)
Any way to make the henchmen, and the MM critter overall, more challenging to fight?

I'm going Rogue. I'm going to kill so many Rikti that it will be remembered as one of history's greatest war crimes for generations to come.

Ultimus still needs to solo the LRSF. Then and only then will he beat Peace_On_Earth (who I don't believe has solo'd the equivalent hero-side TF -- yet).

I tried soloing the RSF on my tricked out Thugs/Traps/Mace without nukes or shivans. The first mish actually went better than I thought it would, even with 4 LB EBs running around. Soloing the Kronos Titan sure took a while, and when it was at about 1/4 health he got lucky with several foot stomps and killed my pets faster than I could bring them out, so I had to back off and regroup. Slinger was a cinch.
Then I hit the 3rd mish, and a giant brick wall called BaBs, Sister Psyche, and Numina. Try as I might, I didn't have the tools necessary to pull just one. If I could've taken those jokers on 1 vs 1, I'd feel pretty good about my ability to just crush them, but 3 at once?
lol Not a chance. For me, anyway.
Hmm, just thought...maybe hit them with -fly on their way up to the globe to keep them from dog-piling on me? That'll be a lot more effort and timing than the *yawn* battles I tend to have. Why didn't I think of that before?
*Runs off to try soloing another RSF*

I got some cool ones from Viridian's Arc where I wiped out all the council AV leaders.

I had a REALLY hard time against Nosferatu. That siphon life or whatever power kept going right through the 45% def I've got on my thugs, and I just couldn't take him. I'll try again tonight and see if I can maybe keep the pets out of its range.
The first 2 went down pretty easy though. That's a really awesome arc.
Also, is there any clear indication as to exactly what is happening to Poison Trap? Chance to proc been lowered to 1s as opposed to .25s, but chance to proc increased slighty...huh?
