I'm just hoping that new "suit" he had at the end of the last one doesn't make an appearance. God it was awful. >.>

Never seen people complain about seeing Batman or Spiderman's origin play out though, especially when it is done as well as it was in the recent versions, and those didn't play out any differently than one would expect. Birthright is a case where it /does/ actually play out differently than most are used to, or would expect.

I don't get the "I don't want another origin story, everyone knows Superman's origin" stuff. Everyone knows Batman's origin, Spidey's origin and the Hulk's origin, and we've had those redone, and hell, Spidey's is being redone, again, just a few years later. Sure, the Hulk movie kinda sucked, but you can definitely make an awesome origin story, even if "everyone knows it" or "has seen it already." And in the case of Birthright, it /is/ a unique take on it, with some /very/ cool stuff along the way. Superman's origin at least hasn't been on the bigscreen since 1978...

This is the only Superman comic/graphic novel I own. Birthright puts some newish spins on the Superman origin, and the action that happens through the novel is relevant /to/ his origin. It is also a /good/ kind of Luthor that we haven't seen in film at all to this point, and even though I know his origin, and have seen it done numerous times, if this IS what they are planning, I'm totally good to see this movie.
That said, I highly doubt this is what they're doing. They might /borrow/ elements of it, but they've repeatedly talked about how they came up with /new/ take on Superman, and how the story was being written from the ground up. -
There are powers/combos that people shun?
Oh, right, peacebringers >.>
I think the only people who *actually* know at this point are under the NDA. My suspicion is that it won't affect people's preferences much. In many cases people's preferences are often based on stupid things anyway, hence people begging for only for certain ATs/powers (as kind of the opposite extreme). -
Hey Dia, I don't have my DM/DA around anymore, but I have a MA/DA I play pretty actively, and I also went for defense and recharge. It's definitely worth it, and a very fun time. I went for S/L over Melee though. Some suggestions/thoughts... Not going to make/remake any actual build atm, maybe later after clarifications
The Theft of Essence +end proc in Dark Regeneration, if you are having end issues.
No Shadow Maul? That makes me sad...
I started off always favoring Oppressive Gloom over Cloak of Fear, but now, even on the MA toon that has other stuns to stack with OG, I've been favoring CoF, and just used OG as a set mule for a small end recovery bonus. With a DM, esp since you took Touch of Fear (which I don't take on my DMs), I would think there would be a good place to stack the fear on bosses that way too. The [Fear Incarnate] power for being a Vigilante has also proven very nice as a compliment to CoF.
Is Petrifying Gaze solely for the set bonuses? Seems like ToF and PG together is a bit redundant. If you're only after the set bonus, try one of the ST immob epic powers (probably Ring of Fire) and 6 slot it with Enfeebled Operations. Gives you some more leeway defense wise, either for reslotting other things more effectively, or vs defense debuffs.
Given Acro vs +KB protection IO, I always go for the IO. Maybe a Blessing of the Zephyr's +KB prot into SJ?
I tend to like slotting Soul Drain and Dark Consumption for damage, esp since Obliterations came out. The defense bonus would overlap with your ToD sets, but again, would be a nice way to get more leeway to reslot other things if you like. The two powers may not be up super often, but you'd be surprised how they can help out, especially a soul drain saturated damage slotted dark consumption (and/or Shadow Maul) can really thin a mob out before you get sticky with your single target.
While a lot of Mez protection toggles don't benefit much from slotting, if you are going to be fighting psi opponents much, dark armor's is a good one to slot up.
Guessing you're going to get the +end accolades to help with endurance? I know stamina isn't showing up, but as is now, without even all your toggles on (without assault and OG in particular), you are actually losing endurance just from standing idle. Again, Stamina, and possible health uniques and accolades will help with this, but that is a warning light for me.
I'd usually say get some heal slotted in Siphon Life, but... Dark Regen is pretty frickin' awesome... Still, something to be aware of if you decide to frankenslot.
Just tried to redo the build some, but I really don't like building knowing i19 inherent fitness changes things, and being unsure how you were planning on slotting those powers, as well as being unsure which powers/parts of the build you are really attached to, and which you aren't. -
1. Female
2. I play most ATs, particularly blue ones. Probably scrapper most, with defender and troller second (lately). I like being versatile, and I like to know I am contributing well on teams, while still being able to solo/duo very well. I also like the "badass" feel of being a scrapper tearing through large mobs solo or nearly solo.
3. Blue primarily, mostly cause thats where the people I know are, but I have played redside (and started there, almost exclusively there for my first 1.5 years). Been slowly soloing through yellowside stuff.
4. I dunno that I can really say I have any favorite arcs. If I like something, its more for the gameplay it provides than the story, and I still have yet to do a lot of the arcs in the game, or breeze through them without much attention paid.
5. I like the super hero aspect, I like the people, I like the "dress up" and character creation. I like the flashiness and faster paced gameplay.
6. Other MMOs? Not really any. I did CO for a month, from a christmas present. I've done beta tests for quite a few games. CoH is really my only MMO, and mostly my only game. Been a big fan of Batman Arkham Asylum this past year, and I played Left For Dead 1 quite a bit when it was new (and I could play with friends, some from CoH).
7. I started CoX with the fileplanet stress test for CoV. Played on and off for about a year, found my current SG and assorted longtime friends/groups, and have been pretty continuous since then.
8. Eek. 31 50s I think. I dunno how many alts. Probably 5-10 in the 30-49 range, that I'm playing very slowly, or not at all anymore. I have one lvl 10 that I'm playing slowly and intend to level to 50, but all my other lowbie alts haven't been logged in since creation pretty much, so I wouldn't really consider them alts at this point. The majority of my play time is on lvl 50s. Probably 5ish of them.
9. Only for toons I intend to keep playing. Soft cap is definitely a frequent target for me, and even if it isn't I like to make sure my toons I play get very good set bonuses, from a planned build. I don't do anything I consider difficult, or complicated or anything to get them to that point. It just sorta happens. Money making is easy, and since I play mostly at 50, and only *really* enhance toons I really like, affording it when I want it is rarely an issue I need to work for. Difficulty settings.... -1x1 if I'm going for badges, or to unlock something, 0x8 for my blasters and scrappers usually when I'm solo. I TF a lot, which is where my trollers and defenders see most face time, and those are basically 0x8 as well, though, obviously with a team to back me up. Times I go above 0x8 are somewhat rare I guess, but not really because it gets hard, because it gets slower... and probably 80% of my play time is on a TF so I don't control the difficulty settings (or at least I don't have sole input).
Hope it helps! -

Welcome to Justice, Callie -

Really? Sad face. Though hopefully it'll help clear up everyone who thinks the Riddler and the Joker are more or less the same. Also, I think you can bet safely on their being another villain as well.

Quote:I am wondering... what part of it wasn't dirty? Not saying the song is awful by any means.Cute, and catchy, (soundtrack? I'd probably buy it. >.>) but no where near as DIRTY! as some of you people are making it out to be.
Quote:Fun Fact: You can make a sex joke without actually sleeping with every person to whom the joke may apply. And you can say "This person is attractive" without saying "He's my pimp."But otherwise, yeah.
Quote:Here: Harley Quinn sings. The joke in this one is that The Joker beats Harley Quinn. Don't know what reactions that will get, but it felt like the time to post it. -
It was good, and I enjoyed it, but I felt it was probably the weakest they've done in a long time (and I was looking forward to this one the most)
A lot of the movie felt like it was rushing, lines, dialogue, and just story/events. Despite some really good voice acting from WW and Supergirl, I felt like their characters were very flat and uninteresting, which is particularly bad for Supergirl, as this is more or less her origin story. I was ho-hum about the action scenes as well. While there was nothing particularly bad about Darkseid's voice... after Michael Ironside... you really just can't compare. I didn't feel any of the omnipotence, arrogance, malice or badassery from this VA that it was in every line Ironside delivered.
Oh, and Granny Goodness is a stupid character... is there actually anyone who likes her? Even as a villain? I cringe every time we see her, hear her, or mention is made of her. Not something I hold against the movie itself though. -
Yes. But I think there is a difference between an occasional dirty joke, and a song that is *entirely* double entendres, innuendos, sexual metaphors and dysfunctions, culminating in calling Batman their pimp.

That is *way* better done than I expected from having seen the first season. That said... wow... that was pretty filthy. I think "Batman: The musical" from Batman Beyond is still my favorite though. Huntress needs her own show/movie though.

Happy Birthday!
Smoke, can I be a forest outlaw? -
They went into the show planning 5 seasons. Had the majority of the "overall plot" laid down and planned. The show rocked, and they were offered another season, it wasn't in the plan, but they're smart people, and I trust them to give us something good. I *think* I've heard they've already been offered a 7th season as well (probably due to CW not having anything else... at all... esp since Smallville finishes this season), so it is possible they may have another really good, and deeper running story than just a single season tacked on at the end. We'll see, I hope so.

Quote:I missed Luci taking credit for that... do you recall what episode it was?I think there was speculation that God did it but no one knew for certain because he wasn't talking to anyone and then Lucifer claimed he did it. I don't think it really mattered because both sides wanted them both alive so that Michael and Lucifer could have their final battle.

Quote:Never really got the "evolving" vibe off of Smallville. Characters just suddenly "were". Thrown into completely weird relationships out of the blue, or into random behavior, or story lines that always just made me go "Huh?" Other times they refused to change/evolve, despite everything happening to them over years of stuff/learning.Characters evolving is a bad thing! BAD SHOW! BAD! Go be one dimensional like all those other crappy shows!
Quote:No he said something like "For a moment i felt like i was flying" indicating to me that he was recognizing the idea he DIDNT actually fly just had the sensation of doing it.
EDIT: I agree with a lot of what's been said about the writing (obviously) but I want to point out that at least a few of them dropped or mishandled story lines aren't entirely their fault. Christopher Reeve passing on threw a big kink into things, as well as cutting Margot Kidder's appearances short (and entirely unexplained). Jensen Ackles being offered Supernatural (Thank god he took it) also made them redo part of season 4 (and maybe more?) but I think we can all agree that is a good thing, not only because of how awesome Supernatural has turned out, but because of how horrible season 4 was.
