Superman/Batman: Apocalypse
It was good, and I enjoyed it, but I felt it was probably the weakest they've done in a long time (and I was looking forward to this one the most) A lot of the movie felt like it was rushing, lines, dialogue, and just story/events. Despite some really good voice acting from WW and Supergirl, I felt like their characters were very flat and uninteresting, which is particularly bad for Supergirl, as this is more or less her origin story. I was ho-hum about the action scenes as well. While there was nothing particularly bad about Darkseid's voice... after Michael Ironside... you really just can't compare. I didn't feel any of the omnipotence, arrogance, malice or badassery from this VA that it was in every line Ironside delivered.
Oh, and Granny Goodness is a stupid character... is there actually anyone who likes her? Even as a villain? I cringe every time we see her, hear her, or mention is made of her. Not something I hold against the movie itself though.
Batman just seemed out of place in that movie. I kept getting the feeling if Batman could kill something with some bat bombs then for Superman/woman and WW it wouldn't be a challenge at all. I kind of wish I would've rented it instead of buying it since getting the blu ray version of Iron Man 2 at the same time put the price around 50 bucks and I'm cheap anyway.
The Kronos has a hold n00b!
Watched this.. loved every second... THIS IS HOW SUPERPOWERED FIGHTS SHOULD BE PORTRAYED.
Also dug the Green Arrow Showcase
The Darkseid fight was pretty cool. I love me some Andre Braugher. The animation was really slick, and I could see the Michael Turner inspiration. Wonder Woman always kicks so much *** in these animated pieces where Superman just brawls and her fight scenes always seem to outshine Supes.
Aside from Wonder Woman and Superman knocking on a door in suburbia, What was most amusing is that When you put Superman, Batman, and Wonderwoman in a team setting, Batman is the one cracking jokes. I also liked how he stayed out of the heavy fighting and his contribution was to stare down Darkseid. Totally awesome.
The Green Arrow short was also very well done. That's how I wish Green Arrow was always done.

I watched this too and enjoyed it but I preferred the ending in the comics over the movie. I was kind of looking forward to see Superman get mad again and nail Darkseid to the Source Wall. I guess they felt with it being Supergirl's movie and all, having her be taken out in the fight so quickly didn't do her justice. The dialog between Superman and Darkseid in the comic is pretty good, too, and something the movie could have benefited from.
I didn't mind Andre Braugher as Darkseid either, but I like him as an actor. It's hard to get Michael Ironside's voice out of your head as the voice of Darkseid but Braugher was a good second choice I thought.

Having recently read Under the Red Hood, The World's Finest, and The Supergirl from Krypton... I have to say the following
#1. The change of names I don't like. Public Enemies and Apocalypse just confuses things for people and in the case of Apocalypse it's a sucky change because the focus of the title should be the focus of the movie(Supergirl) which it isn't.
#2. Under the Red Hood, after a long time waiting to read it, I find that the movie is done better. Maybe because of the weird timeline or something in the comic or the fact that it's split by another arc or maybe the fact the guy that wrote the comic rewrote it to fit a movie... My only real gripes with it now are the Robin suit, Dick not wearing a leg brace, and it didn't end with Bludhaven going boom (though that one makes a bit more sense since Dick is around most of the movie)
#3. In terms the just being movies, Apocalypse and Worlds Finest are ok movies, however they should have stuck more with the source material. The final fight makes sense from a movie direction, but I think they still could have ended it the way it should have. I really like the Batman/Superman book and was surprised that the stories had a nice overarching story that is now completely lost to the movies because of minor changes to the first and less minor changes in the second which pretty much ruins the 3rd story. I also don't like the fact that they seem to be not wanting to put other characters in the movies, as if it isn't natural for these guys to pop in and out.
#4. If they are pretty much just making S/B into a movie series, why not add the one offs as extras. Quick 10 min show of the Robin and Superboy trying to get Hiro to work for Batman.

So I like her because she's the ultimate extension of how messed up things are on that planet but to them its completely normal, acceptable and encouraged. Plus she's voiced by Ed Asner!

Apocalypse got changed from The Supergirl from Krypton because I assume they didn't want people knowing right off the bat that the story is about Supergirl. The reason why they didn't want people knowing about it was because DC's line of thought is "Animated movies with female leads = less sales", I base that off of the canceled projects section that says:
"With the lesser success of the Wonder Woman film, plans for a sequel were shelved, as well as a planned animated film based on the 2003 mini-series Batgirl: Year One"
Now I personally disagree with this statement because sales wise Wonder Woman is #4 on the Gross US Sales out the the 8 (not counting Apocalypse) movies that were out.
Under the Red Hood from Under the Hood isn't really a big change it just makes it sound better since the main villain is the Red Hood... I guess lol.
Picked it up last night and just watched it a little bit ago. Was pretty good but my favorite for the year is still Batman: Under the Red Hood, if you has not seen it, go watch it!
The first thing I noticed was that it was a sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and they give a small recap of what happened in that movie at the start. After that it was a fun one hour and eighteen minute ride through the story. Looking through Wikipedia they kept the original story 99% intact with the only noticeable change being at the end. No Source Wall cameo in this movie but they decided to keep the clone attack against the Amazons, which I would consider the only 'meh' part of the movie.
Finally, anyone that saw Justice League Unlimited always remembers the Superman vs Darkseid fight, they have **spoiler** another fight **spoiler** in Apocalypse. Whether the fight is as good, better or worse than the JLU version I'll leave up to you. But overall, good film and worth buying.
