As several have noted, I7 features content mostly for City of Villains (levels 41 to 50, in fact). This is exactly what we did for CoH. City of Heroes will receive a cool graphics upgrade, new base items (Empowerment stations!) and access to Recluses Victory. Its true that CoV received more attention, but thats mainly because we needed to fill out the levels. I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when its ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...
For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they arent yet. Thats coming a little later in the year. Id like to add something different to the CoH system

I have CoV, I play CoV -- once in a while. As cool as my corruptor and dominator can be, they just haven't captured my interest as my heroes did/do.
So no new costumes, power customizations, skills, content, newspaper missions -- at least you're upfront about CoH being ignored.
We're passionate about this because we love the game. Not everyone is happy being a villain. And personally, I'm unhappy that Paragon is the CoX ghetto. -

ugh.
I was looking forward to this, but it sounds like a jumbled mess - and way too close to the PC version, to boot.
Guess I'll be sticking with MURPG and M&M with Paragon City as a converted setting.

I'm going to give it a good look, but if it's as complicated as it sounds (and I've played Unisystem, and it wasn't *that* bad) I'll be converting into the most splendiferous system I've found in a long, long time -- Savage Worlds. -

You know, Fyre's name always makes me thing of a big white guy with a beer belly thats on fire. Like the Redneck version of the human torch or something.

LMAO!!!!!!
My very first COH character was a scrapper named Slayer Faith. When I got my own account I decided to remake my little scrapper and give her a name that was less of a potential copyright infringment.
Firecracker is an extremely obscure "Buffy" reference that still worked for the character concept. It, of course, was taken. Hence Fyrecracker.
But you sir, have given me a whole new perspective on the name. I'm not sure I can ever play my little scrapper again without giggling. -

I do hope it's Mutants and Masterminds compatable, or has a conversion table.
It's so easy to write a _bad_ Superhero game. M&M, like CoH, just _works_.

Eden is the master of the licened game. If you read Buffy, you'll know they know thier $hit. plus thire all about the free preiview .pdf. this is just so....i think i'm goinig to cry i'm so happy

I've got every game Eden Studios has ever produced, and all of them are good. Buffy, Angel and Conspiracy X (new edition coming soon!) are soooo good they're like gamer candy.
I'll be buying this bad boy as soon as it comes out -- only question is who gets to gm -- me or my husband? -
Wahoo!
States, you're my hero again.
I may even get over the terror that arose when you said you were looking at controllers.
Now I've got a reason to start working off the 50k debt I built up on my scrapper this week getting one-shotted by AVs. -

States, it has been the experience of a great many players (mentioned on other threads) that *multiple* unnamed bosses show up on missions that they entered alone.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll check this!

Please do. I've had this happen multiple times when soloing just in the past few days, in fact.
I even had one mission with no warning of a boss -- it was one of those missions that you get after ending another mission -- that spawned a lv. 30 Rikti boss. I was soloing as a lv. 28 scrapper.
So that Rikti boss was a *lovely* shade of purple that I got to enjoy as it danced on my corpse.
I've got a screenshot of that mission, if you'd like to see it. But it is just a symptom of a systemic problem -- lots of bosses in missions that we've been told shouldn't have them. -
I try to give the devs the benefit of the doubt -- they all seem like nice people who care about the game.
But the ball was dropped here. Issue 3 was *not* ready for prime time.
And since I've been perusing the forums for a half an hour while I wait for game support -- I've got a massive map error in an Ubelmann story arc mission and can't complete the mish -- I've got time to list some of them.
-- The inv changes should have gotten more evaulation and care, and players' opinions should have been part of the process.
-- Global chat and the respec should have been ready to go, or the issue should have been held until they were.
-- Blinkies not making noise is flippin' annoying, and should have been fixed. That's a huge quality of gameplay issue.
-- There should have been more communication with players, and not an overwhelming feeling that we were being blown off, especially those poor people on the test server who spent so much time doing testing and feedback that was ignored.
-- The boss changes are an insult to anyone not playing a scrapper, and States asking for controller issues now makes me fear for my two little controllers, who I was starting to enjoy playing.
And as far as always being told there's a boss in the mission -- bull. I did missions all day yesterday, carefully read all the mission text -- and I'm an editor in rl, so I *can read carefully* -- and still ran into several surprise bosses.
In a solo lv. 28 sky raider mission, I beat the named orange boss -- but the two lv. 29 bosses (nice and red) that were just hangin' out handed me my butt.
-- And my personal pet peeve, there should have been a mission slider -- a real mission slider. One that goes up and down. One that doesn't cost inf to use.
I asked Statesman about the mission slider in a pm, and part of what he said (and I'm paraphrasing) is that he doesn't play tic-tac-toe 'cause it's too easy -- he knows he's gonna win, so what's the point.
OK, I don't play tic-tac-toe either. I can respect wanting some challenge.
But I don't play chess with Bobby Fischer with an air raid siren going off behind my head either -- its too damn hard, and its annoying.
Why play if it's too easy? Valid question, States.
Why play if you've got no chance of having fun, either?
Back to waiting for a gm ... wow, Issue 3 is ... {insert sarcasm here} so much fun. -
I've been propositioned several times, and I (unfortunately) know people whose main activity on CoH is ummm .... chatting.
It's not even good rp propositioning, either. Every time the pick-up line has been so lame and out of the blue that its insulting.
Personally, I'm here to play a hero, and I'm certainly not going to pay $15 a month for something like that.
I've been tabletop and live-action RP'ing for 15 years or so, and while I think romance can be an essential part of a strong story, I'm a big fan of the "drawn curtain," as it were.
There can be romance and/or a physical relationship between characters w/o something that reads like a letter to Penthouse. That is usually something best left "off camera."
That being said, if ummm ... chatting is what you're really into, go ahead. Just be sure of the other person's rl age and comfort level.
But please, keep it to tells. The rest of us don't want to hear about it. -

The increased aggro is something that's close to implementation.
[/ QUOTE ]
My apologies if you mentioned this elsewhere and I missed it, but when this change was first announced there was some concern about how deadly increased uncontrollable AoE aggro could be for the weaker lower level (pre-20) Tankers. Has any thought been given towards this, or a solution decided upon?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm worried about the pre-20 tanker and increased aggro as well.
I've got an ss/inv tank at 9, and she's pretty fragile, even with maxed defenses. I've died in several fights my kin/grav controller buddy has survived -- I draw the aggro well enough, but I just can't take the damage.
Other AT's are just doing our jobs better. A prime example:
I got a Vaz mission with my 12 Energy/Energy blaster. I bring along my husband, playing a 12 SS/Inv tanker. Meat shield? He was a meat snack. I pulled with my snipe, they aggroed, and he moved to protect my blaster. He died in a pool of zombie vomit.
Vaz mission, take 2. I play my blaster, he plays a 12 Broadsword/SR scrapper. We sail through the mission.
If we're supposed to be able to draw all this aggro, we should have increased resistance and defenses to go with it -- or a lot of tankers just aren't going to survive to 20. -
I'm in Shadow Vengence and Girls of Tokyo High (and the interim leader of Knights of Albion due to the death of Emerald Knight in a Tsoo attack), and we don't have an internet site yet. But we're on at a variety of times, and we're happy to get tells or in-game e-mails.
-
If this means you're looking for sg's that role-play on Freedom, Shadow Vengence, Girls of Toyko High and Knights of Albion are all fairly heavy into it.
We rp as we do missions and in the words of Mina-ko, "kick mass quantities of bad boy butt!" There's not any hanging around the park emoting.
